I’m a Home Depot trucker in Edmonton, Alberta. One of the stores that I regularly service and drive for has a predominantly Filipino staff base. From time to time they have staff food festivals in the staff lunch room that I’ve been able to enjoy. Real Filipino food is the absolute best food ever. ❤
I already get so excited whenever Josh drops random Filipino references (which he does more than you'd think) so an episode where he's making and feeding Stevie all the things I grew up eating has filled my heart to the brim. Thanks guys, love you ❤
A a Filipino who is retired from professional cooking, a fan of GMM and Mythical Kitchen, and who thinks Stevie is extremely charming, and Josh is smart and funny, this is the best thing I've watched on RUclips ever! Homerun, Mythical Team! Thank you.
A Filipina friend of mine in high school had me over for dinner and they served whole salted/fried fish with a side of spaghetti (with the sweeter style sauce) to each person... good news is I was raised eating lots of different things and that you eat what you are served so I didn't even blink twice, just dug in and honestly for a first time it was fantastic, the combination of flavors was great and made me a life long lover of Filipino food. He should have had her also try Halo Halo.
I love the lighting on this one, and the less formal setup. It’s so homey and intimate. Very much like Mom (Mythical Chef Josh) feeding her kid. Such a good juxtaposition to Last Meals.
i read this comment before watching the video, i fully thought you meant she pronounced it the spanish way like tortiya. but............ yep i thought wrong lol
Filipino Canadian here, I can't speak for Stevie's Filipino neighbours, but if they or someone else saw hole in the cake after those photos were taken, the most likely scenario that would have happened was 1. They would have found it really funny and not be offended even if it was an accident as Stevie said. 2. Your Filipino hosts would have not only given you that punched part of that cake but also 1/3rd on either side of said punched cake to take home. 3. Quickly slice the punched area of said cake, and say to quickly eat it. After taking pictures of said cake. Josh, thank you for doing adobo and lumpia! They look so good!
He is charismatic as hell, and I'm sure he just looks up random topics to read about. Most people like learning but lack the prep for an interview, and even fewer people can match the energy / pep or have the charismatic ability to segue to a new point in conversation. I find Josh irritating solo on the channel cause its just him rambling on with random hard cuts, give him another person and its great.
Right, we'd fall asleep if he gave us a monologue of facts. Lily has faked them in mythical kitchen even lol. Having another person helps slowly disperse his information and what he has to offer@@WhatsGahd
Yes! It’s one of those shows you can just keep watching over and over… although I’d argue Josh is not bones, but a mix of Hodgins and Vincent Nigel Murray with his vast array of knowledge, awkward timing, and natural hilariousness. Lol
Thanks Josh for the Filipino feature! As a proud Filipino and a Mythical Kitchen fan, you've made my day. I really appreciate your genuine love for our food and culture. More Filipino food content, please!
Josh is a good interviewer. This is like a reverse day time talk show but instead of a guest as a chef the host is cooking. Looking forward to more episodes of these.
Mythical Kitchen is a lovely consulting project. They took the strengths of GMM (the fun formats) + strengths of the kitcheneers and made this beautiful concoction. Love your work and great new format!
Stevie is so likable, I respect she prefers being behind the camera, but everything she has been one has been good. I have wanted LTAT back for so long.
I go back and forth with her. When she's genuine, I love her, but when she's fake, she's like nails on a chalkboard. Unfortunately, she's fake a majority of the time.
i am literally eating jollibee for dinner right now 😮 combining "ulam" (viand) is indeed a Filipino thing. great examples would be iconic Filipino breakfast meals like tapsilog, hotsilog, longsilog etc. so eating the adobo + lumpia + rice was completely valid 😌👌🏽 i love hearing how Josh was so into Filipino cuisine and thank you Stevie for being open to trying out Filipino dishes 🫶🏼 also, the way "do you know what pekpek means?" was brought up so casually in this kind of dim ambience was so funny 😭
This is honestly a great date idea with the First Time questions aspect and maybe even cooking for your significant other. Thanks for the idea, Josh and Stevie!
As a Filipino fan, thanks for showcasing my culture!! Filipino food is an acquired taste and I’m so happy when I see it being enjoyed by people I watch daily
When I left San Diego, a work colleague brought a package of his lumpia to take on my drive. I had always raved about them at potlucks. About any of his dishes he brought, they were excellent. My first filipino food. He said don't eat burgers, don't eat pizza, eat lumpia. Stay healthy and strong. Another package-chicken, for the cat. Funny how sometimes you don't know someone is family until you're leaving.
Love this spin off. Josh continues to show how good he is at interviewing - puts people at ease and shares enough about himself to encourage conversation without making the focus entirely on him. Aces, Charles. And speaking of TV references - I decided to write a comment bc I JUST finished a rewatch of all of Bones last night. I loved that show - super formative for my little nerdy science girl self. Boneheaded squints unite 😉
I love Stevie and moments where we can see how much she aligns creatively and comedically with Rhett and Link. I feel from a viewer’s perspective that Mythical is so beautifully enhanced and led by Stevie, in all of the different hats that she must wear at work. I love how Stevie stars in GMM as the host, walking alongside and supporting Rhett and Link through each episode, while also being so funny and engaging. I also really appreciate some of her other starring projects BFBA and literal LTAT, which I feel are true favorites of mine. Like come on for real, Stevie is such a star! While I often find myself wishing we saw more of her on screen, it is so awesome to be reminded of so clearly how much her leadership as Chief Creative Officer is serving as a driving force for the company. I love when crew members will comment on camera about what a wonderful boss she is and there’s literally nothing better than a wonderful boss. Kudos to all, thanks for the great videos. ❤

Josh, I'm a Bones head. Own the series. If I didn't already pre order 2 copies of your book, I would do it again. I love how you can be you, same with the kitchen crew!
Josh gave justice to the lumpia and adobo 🇵🇭 both look so good! And the way he researched about Purefoods PBA team 😂 always so prepared. Thanks for this fun episode!! PS: Also on the mention of Jollibee’s corned beef pan de sal- petition to bring back the breakfast items, Jollibee USA 🚨‼️
This is Absolutely fantastic! Stevie is the perfect First guest for First Meals. I love it when Josh gets people laughing hard! This episode was pure gold! Keep This series going for a while! I love it!
I absolutely love this! Josh is so great at asking random questions while staying busy, while spouting random facts at the same time! And it's always great to see and hear from Stevie, as suttle as she is, GMM wouldn't be the same without her!
in 8th grade, we were watching Anne Frank, and I instinctually said "boobies" out loud during a scene when all the women were being lined up for the showers.... yeah everyone looked at me weird and I will never forget the panic i had
This was a great episode, love both Josh and Stevie quite literally just having a conversation over food. Will say though, the way he wrapped the lumpia could be better. The way I personally do it is I place the wrapper kinda like a diamond and place the filling maybe 1/3rd away from the bottom, roll up the bottom tightly towards the middle, fold in the middle corners and roll the rest of the way. Pat a dab of water on the upper corner and close that way. I know, it's a minor thing but texturally for me, this way of wrapping is better. Anyway, love the episode, look forward to more episodes about our Filipino culture and food.
What a trip - your wonderful neighbors are my wonderful cousins! I wondered what happened to you and Cassie after meeting you at the baby shower. I was ushered off to do the hello tour to the rest of the family and was looking forward to coming back to talk to you two about Japan but you had already left - all these year later now I know why lol! I don't remember any cake mishaps so I'm sure it was fine. :) Btw I love all the content from the Mythical crew (even on Tuesdays and Thursdays hehe) - thanks for keeping us entertained!
this brings me to tears it reminds me of my lola how she would be cooking and id be watching her wip up a snack for me and i would help her wrap the lumpias and we'd be talking and chatting away . i dearly miss her

Who is this Dad cooking for Stevie? Love it. I like the bookending of first and last meals. The growth of the Mythical Kitchen team over the last year or so has been awesome. Good on ya.
I hope this did well enough to continue, as I look forward to this series! There's something entertaining *_and_* wholesome about seeing someone's reaction to a first time eating something - at least for me, as a lifelong picky eater 😅
