You promoting your merch in honour of the met gala with sweatpants which karl lagerfeld hated, and him being this years theme is truly a full circle moment
we'll send some to his grave 💀
and apparently he HATED the color pink too so double whammy! LOL

Karl Lagerfeld was a talented yet HORRIBLE person.
19:11 One of the best things I’ve seen in the discourse about this movie is Andy’s boyfriend is a chef who kind of should understand terrible bosses and long hours.
yes, my mother is a chef. There are such busy days that I never know what time she's going to work or coming back. And then she also works during the holidays. Especially during the holidays. I don't understand how Nate can complain about Andy's job when in my opinion he's the one who has the hardest job
@@BimbaElisYou’ve articulated it beautifully.
Well, to be fair, he and Andy's friends never seemed to complain about the hours so much as Andy changing her who she is to fit in to the fashion world. I think that's more what troubled them. Even Andy, in the beginning says that she's not going to let the job change her yet it does.
EXACTLY! A top level chef works like 14 hours a day six days a week! But "you missed my birthday [to go to one of the most important social events in your industry]. WAAAH!"
@@brucetidwell7715 right?! She had an opportunity to network with people in the field she ACTUALLY wants to be in. I’d be more annoyed if my partner came to my birthday over that after all the work they’d been putting in🤦♀️. Just shoot me a text and make it up to me tomorrow
Maturing is realising the boyfriend and friends were the real villains, of this movie, yes Andy was super busy and working a crazy job, but they had no reason making her feel so bad over a job
…..buttttttt her incapability at the beginning of the movie always stresses me out so bad 💀
I always hear this take but I think its so wrong. Her boyfriend and friends are the contrast of what she was to who she is now. She was just like then she made fun of people like herself and thought it was all stupid. They didn't have the journey she did so you're looking at her from starting point to end point simultaneously.
They're all annoying and suck tho, that's undeniable.
That one scene in the restaurant where they steal her phone makes me want to eat my head in anger.
@@silverkyre it's fine to rib your friends about their job, but messing with their work phone is a little overboard. Also, her boyfriend has seen how the job grew more important to her, and it was pretty childish of him to be so upset that her work took priority over an adult birthday party.
as a teen i used to think like that, too. but the truth is the boyfriend is annoying and kinda sucks, the friends are childish but they are not "real villains", especially, when Miranda is such a clear picture of what an abusive, narcisistic, self-absorbed boss looks like. her partner and friends could have been great and understanding and she would have still gone through hell, been triggered with massive anxiety and had her private life messed up because of her cursed toxic workplace.
Miranda was also the villain too ppl. Let's not be reductive
I just want to thank Benji for that mini rant on the boyfriend because I have been dubbed crazy for thinking he was out of pocket towards Andy and her job (even though the job itself was wild too.) Either way, thanks for the vindication!!
Yes, we hate the boyfriend
Yesss!!!!
He works in the New York restaurant industry. So he should have run in to his fair share of demanding, high-strung chefs and restaurateurs. Also his hours should be the opposite of hers, what the hell? What sous chef gets off at 5 PM?
I 100% hate the boyfriend.
THANK YOU! Like really him and her friends took full advantage of the products she got and the money but she doesn't show up to one birthday and they break up is pathetic
Something else we don't talk about: when Andy gets a job, we're supposed to be mad at that. But when the boyfriend gets a job, somehow we're supposed to feel happy for him. It's like the movie itself doesn't realize how toxic he was.
Hahah strange times
he literally saved her by getting her the Harry Potter book- she would’ve been fired otherwise. and andy then cheats on him and acts like she doesn’t care about her relationship.
@@jillianc7485i think ur mixing up boyfriends 😭 and it’s not rlly cheating, they were broken up andy literally says so before she hooks up with the guy who got her ghe harry potter book 😊
@jillianc7485 that's not the boyfriend that saves her. Book guy saves her and then the boyfriend breaks up with her and then she sleeps with book guy. She didn't do anything wrong
I will never stop hating the boyfriend in this movie, every time I watch it I get an overwhelming sense of rage from just seeing him & don’t even get started on the ending & the fact that andy stayed with him…
😤😤
But does she really? He's moving to Boston for a job that will keep him busy about 60 hours a week and she's staying in Manhattan with the hot blond reporter chasing her. That LD relationship has the lifespan of a snowflake in hell. That lunch is just nailing down her "I've come back down to earth" ending.
@@brucetidwell7715 😂😂 true
@@brucetidwell7715 you just made me feel a lot better about the ending, thank you from the bottom of my heart
@@tessagray7899 Glad to help. 😉
I love that this movie is both a love letter to and in criticism of the fashion world. Nigel's speech about Andy thinking herself too good for the magazine yet at the same time she gets upset that she's not getting commended for her work nails it. You can't go into a job with zero respect for what people do, then turn around all huffy when you get no respect back.
So True!!
"I've never been gay" killed me omfg
Emily: (has a car accident)
Benji: “GET THOSE SCARVES.”
😅
2:04 Fun Fact: Stanley Tucci is married to Felicity Blunt, Emily’s sister.
1:59 The amount of times I’ve replayed the scene of Miranda entering the office because you can understand everything without any dialogue and it’s so cinematic.
It's used in classes to teach indirect characterization, that's how good it is
@@mythtaken6610Omg I never knew that.
So glad you called out Devil Wears Prada / Princess Diaries. Any industry that repeatedly depicts Anne Hathaway as a hideous mess is mentally ill.
😂😂
B: Mrs. Krasinski.
R: No, he's Mr. Blunt.
Words cannot describe how MUCH I loved that moment. The best part is, I think John would agree.
True 😂
I remember Meryl Streep putting the movie into perspective when she said that the costumes were the Special Effects of the movie.
Stanley Tucci is seriously iconic and I love him. I really like him in Shall We Dance and Burlesque too
Both incredible movies!
.. and then, of course, in Julie and Julia he was Meryl Streep's husband.
Rizzo and Benji: “So you’ve never bought our merch? You have no style or sense of fashion…”
Me: “I think that depends…”
Rizzo and Benji: “No, no, that wasn’t a question.”
😂
As an assistant to the president of a company, I LOVE this movie lmao, it is soooo true! Except my boss is actually nice but he has the craziest and most random requests, and they’re due yesterday
😂😂 oh my gosh, I know the job would probably be a nightmare for me, but it makes me wanna try it out for a little bit
The budget for this movie was CRAZY since they really did use ALOT of designers clothes for the film, and I’m not making excuses for Miranda but Andy had a point nobody really says how men act in power but all of a sudden the woman is a dragon lady because she is about business? Andy’s friends and boyfriend to me were the real issue because, even if she didn’t really care about the job at first she still needs to work and she should learn more about it they didn’t mind taking gifts from her they only cared when it benefited them, taking her phone was so childish to me and I’m sorry but Nate was acting like a child it was one birthday it happens and I don’t like he was so okay with her giving up granted nobody should tolerate work abuse but if we are being real Andy wasn’t trying nor did she care at first just my opinion though love this reaction and sorry Rizzo but Miranda will always be iconic
This!! 👏👏
I SWEAR TO GOD. Nate and andy's friends pissed me off so much.
@@hoorainbaig2024 they definitely were the drama 😂😂
Honestly, I completely agree. The first time I watched this, all I was thinking was - how do I get this job? Why is Andy considered the hero? I am a huge Miranda fan and I would kill for this job.
@@Vintage_Izy I would LOVE this job I love fashion and even tho Miranda wasn’t the nicest she was about her business 👏🏾👏🏾 and I admire that about her like Andy said if she was a man nobody would notice anything besides how amazing he was
I agree with Benji! The boyfriend is a hypocrite. He’s a freakin chef! A job notorious for bad hours and being hell on a person. And notice how when they broke up he immediately stepped up his professional game and got a better job in his field? It’s bc Andy working so hard made him feel insecure and bummy so he got mad at her for trying to do well at a job for literally 1 year!!! And then actually grappled with his own lack of drive/initiative after taking out all that frustration on her. Plus, I get it, it sucks to not have your partner around for your birthday, but be a freakin adult and schedule a dinner on a day everyone can make it! Like what would you do if your gf was a doctor? Be like “fuck you and your surgery I wanted attention! 😡” I really hate that they got back together in the end bc he was not supportive at all when things got tough and Andy deserved better. Also, him and her friends are assholes for playing games and clowning her job but fully taking all the perks (bags, phones, lingerie, etc).
YESS👏👏👏 the boyfriend projecting his insecurities onto her was on another level, he just wanted to sit around and make expensive grilled cheeses, not go anywhere with his life and her to do the same and when she didn’t, he broke up with her and then realized he needed to step up his game up 😤😤
I want to use “No, shan’t.” in the appropriate context sometime.
Ann Hathaway did amazing at the Met Gala she looked beautiful 😍
Omg she looked amazing!!!
26:07 “Who’s manning the desk?” is sending me haha I missed Benji’s one liners.
I understand respecting Miranda because it takes a lot to run a magazine and her skills of socializing, persuading (through manipulation) to get what she wants, and her commanding presence. She keeps up with the trends, blah blah blah.
I do hate her as a character and I would hate her if she was a man. She is a iconic villain that some love to hate or hate to love.
Haha I think Rizzo would totally agree with you
Thank you. Her character is awful as a woman or a man. Terrible is terrible.
9:37 “I don’t know, it’s drizzling.” with the visual gag is so funny. It never fails to crack me up.
1:36 And thus, we were introduced to an icon. Also, ‘Emily in Paris’ should’ve been about her. #HeIsMrBlunt
I would have actually enjoyed the show if she was the main character 🤣
Yeah I would’ve sat down, cried, and wrote a 1k HP fanfiction and pawned it off as the real thing
😂
This is serving gen z solution and I'm completely here for it.
2:37 OMG that would've been so smart of her (or ANDY) to just record her so they don't miss anything!!! I assume Miranda would've hated that tho 😂
Yea She probably dosent allow recording lol
Someone once said “yeah Andy was bad at her job because she could have just hired a car to drive Miranda to the nearest airport flying out” and that’s when I knew I was never cut out for an assistant job because I would have NEVER thought of that and I was all on Andy’s boohoo woah is me side haha
I’m confused..nothing was flying out..there was no airport to go to lol
@@PinkPopcast I’m not from there so don’t get me lying but apparently there are over 100 different airports in Florida and just because the weather is bad in one area of the state doesn’t make it bad everywhere as we can see in NYC they didn’t even have a drizzle. So I’m sure the suggestion was just saying there were other available options like driving to another airport without bad weather rather than just flying Miranda out from where she was and Andy never considered them and neither did I!
Omg Rizzo actually got Naya to wish Benji a happy birthday, damn that is some A+ BFF-ing!!!
Right!? I lost it when I saw the video!!
14:08 Andrea has a ludicrously capacious bag. What’s even in there? Flat shoes for the subway? Her lunch pail? It’s monstrous, it‘s gargantuan. She can take it camping, slide it across the floor after a bank job.
Is that the quote from Succession? Or am I getting my rich white characters confused?
@@PinkPopcast Yes it is! And no, you’re not getting your rich white characters confused LOL
And also love you guys so much!! 💖
God her boyfriend was the wooooooorst in the movie. At least in the book they depict how the job has been consuming Andy to the point that she isn't there for her close friend having a breakdown and drinking to the point of getting arrested. In the book Andy's always getting called, can't go out with her friends ever, it's definitely concerning then for her boyfriend and friends that she undergoes a radical personality shift and they barely see her ever. In the movie she just ... has a very prestigious but stressful job in her 20s to build her career. Hell her boyfriend works in a kitchen, he should know all about working for demanding, abusive bosses and sticking it out for the sake of his career! They should have been able to commiserate about their respective jobs!
Miranda is such a complicated character for me. Like, I've worked as an assistant for that type of woman, and in a male-dominated industry the women who rise to the top tend to be extremely tough and demanding. They worked super hard, and they expect that of anyone coming up after them. It doesn't excuse abuse obviously though. I understand Miranda, even though I don't ever want to become Miranda or work for a type like her.
Exactly!! So true, I really needed to see Andy be a lot worse in the movie to warrant the boyfriends behavior or I needed to see him be understanding and support her.
For Miranda, of course it’s hard to be a woman in a male dominated industry but at least I think the movie showed a decent amount of respect towards her and why she has how she is
Me when I receive a new notification from the channel: “I’m gay, get out of my Anne Hatha-way.”
i would have been fine with her not reconnecting with her ex-bf. That was my only gripe with the film. I loved this reaction!
i just want to know how many times on set did emily blunt turn her head at attention whenever miranda called andy "emily" lmao
stanly tucci is a national treasure
Yes!!
This is one of the most iconic movies of all times.. seeing maryl streep in this, then seeing her in julie & julia and the insane difference between the characters that she can portray so effortlessly is a testament to her greatness, she is truly once in a lifetime type of talent and we are so lucky to have witnessed her perfection of a performance
32:34 Rizzo interpreting “I see a great deal of myself in you.” was brilliant 😂
Is it just me who wants to see what happens when snoop dog sits next to Miranda Priestly at a fashion event?😂
Hahah not just you
She's going to take your Anne breath-away? The fist joke that came to mind😂
Nice! You have what it takes, kid
28:38 I read two earlier drafts of the script and in both of them we're drawn attention to the fact that she's not wearing make-up and that she's dressed casually and has been crying, then in the next scene she's walking past the paparazzi, her clothes, hair and make-up are as flawless as ever and her face is expressionless until she gets into her car and takes a deep breath before composing herself again, and we realise how much it's taken for her to be that strong.
I think both scripts involve her talking about how much money other publishers make off her and how unfair it is to her daughters, but I know both scripts also have her lament how she really thought that he would be the one who would stay, and how every one of her husbands has always said that he admires her for how dedicated he is to her job and that he doesn't want a house-wife and then after they get married he's always complaining about the very things he said he loved about her.
And in one of the scripts she talked about how she grew up half an hour from the city, her dads blue-collar job, and how every morning at the bus or train station she'd look at the fashion magazines and knew that that was where she wanted to be, that that was the life she wanted.
I think they should at least have included the bit about the husbands in the movie, though the backstory does add a bit more depth and reminds us 'I put up with it all because this is what I want. I am the way I am because this is everything I've wanted to be.'
Nate just angry his gf isnt an annoying mightier than thou "not like other girls" anymore 😂
Yepp 😭
My first job out of college was as a receptionist and I hated it. I’m so glad I didn’t see this movie back then, it would’ve made my anxiety so much worse!
It seems like a rough gig 😭
The combination of the joke and eye roll on "You're not gay enough" and "...guess that's why that show didn't come out for another few years. Emily in Paris" had me dying. lol
🤣😂
I've worked for a Miranda (she was a Brit), and everyone in the industry said that if I could last with her for a year, I could work anywhere. I got along pretty well because my best friend/ex-coworker said I had a history of somehow got along with the most difficult people. Yet, I wouldn't blame him if my boyfriend acted the way Andy's bf did. But I am thankful that I lasted more than a year with her because companies in the same industry actually seek me out. I resigned because of her Vice Director, tho, and not because of her, and she was sort of upset I resigned.
Omg real life Andy!
Found yall through your bridgerton reactions and you bring me sm joy through all the ups and downs and anxiousness and joy, I’m so happy to be here and thank you for making these videos 💕
Thank you for watching with us 🥰🥰
2:48 Todrick's "that's all" at the end of NHHH MUST BE a reference to this incredible character. I'd be shocked if it wasn't tbh
I definitely think so, I didn’t realize until I was watching this again
I knew someone who was Miranda and let’s just say I used this movie as inspiration to deal with difficult situations.
4:50 “How do you spell Gabbana?” is such a throwaway line but you still remember it. “I guess not.”
The boyfriend and friends were so horrible in this movie. Imagine guilt tripping someone for having a demanding job that they are good at because you think the industry is beneath you.
Right!? especially when they very specifically say, they’re only staying for a year and it’s going to help them land their dream job
Random fun fact recently read somewhere the twins “tricked” Andy into going upstairs to stop Miranda and her husband from fighting also Benji was totally right about the bf and as much as I live for Miranda and she is and icon Rizzo was right she was kind of a dick
Ooh I can see why they would want to do that
🎉🎉 this reaction is better than the actual Met Gala 🎉🎉
🙌🙌😂
YOU GUYS ACTUALLY PUT THE BIRTHDAY VIDEO AT THE END! ill cry, thats so sweet.
❤️❤️Naya❤️❤️
25:13 “Where Anne hath a will, then Anne hath a way.”
19:42 wasn’t ready for that Photoshopped book cover but I love it! 😂 your hard work is appreciated, Benji and/or Rizzo!
Rizzo 👏👏👏
28:11 Rizzo is single? With that level of wordplay and puns? He puts the rizz in Rizzo.
I don't know if you all mentioned it but Stanley Tucci is married to Emily Blunt's sister. They met at Emily's wedding.
We didn’t ☺️
I need a full fashion/runway show of you all modeling this merch.
Omg yes!! 😂
the thinly veiled relationship rants were a little too relatable guys 😶
🥲
anyone else want another fashion show, there's 'Ugly Betty' released soon after this though it was sort of a parody of soap operas and melodramas (though like the best comedies it had some surprisingly genuinely sad moments in it a few times) where Betty likewise knows nothing about the fashion world but unlike Andi understands how big an opportunity it is, can't really afford to loose a job and takes her job seriously from day 1 (ie researching the cosmetics company she'd never heard of the magazine will be advertising in its next issue), and 'Made In Italy' an Italian tv show about the fashion world of 1970s Milan and how fashion reflected the political changes happening everywhere around them, where Irene is new to the magazine world but appreciates fashion because not only for political reasons but because her mum's a seamstress so she knows how important clothes are to a lot of people.
I’m here for the Rizzo School of Thought which is putting things normally and Benji School of Thought which is being iconic.
Agreed
And here's the thing. Her boyfriend is a chef. Chef's work long hours, in a high focus department, there's a lot of tension, a lot of anxiety, it's always about getting everything done perfectly and getting everything done quickly at the same time. Both the boss and the customers are demanding. A lot of attention is given to a lot of tiny details. Some say it's a waste because we have microwave dinners and fast food chains, and because they put all that work going over tiny details so that they can just do it all over again the next day (paraphrasing Andi complaining about the fashion industry), but to those who want to be there, it's important and worth it.
My point being, a) he should be more sympathetic to having a demanding job since his is also demanding and b) if he's a chef then how come she leaves for work earlier than him and gets back home later than him.
My summery - he is a self-centred jerk, and the scriptwriters don't know anything about chefs.
He should be more sympathetic but I think part of the point was that no one (including her at the beginning) took her job seriously. "It's only fashion". They think this job isn't serious and she's giving so much attention to some silly thing.
Where as you can argue the chef thing its a well known respected job where people never placed fashion.
Essentially Andi grew out of that mindset from working there, her boyfriend and friends never saw besides that silly thing Andi puts too much investment in.
@@silverkyre fair point. still, the question remains if they have a right to call something silly when they know nothing about it. I mean, they don't think it's important, that's their right, but its no reason to laugh at a business that other people find important or at the people who find it important and take it seriously.
you want a job that's ridiculous, watch episode 1 of the British tv series 'The Good Life' from the 70s when the boss is talking about how they're going to start manufacturing plastic toy giraffes for cereal boxes as if, as main character Tom Good put it, "he'd just discovered penicillin' - and Tom at least waited till he left the room before he burst out laughing. Other main character Jerry Leadbetter also finds it silly "but not out loud", and he mostly works there because "it's what brings the goodies in".
@agenttheater5 No. That's not the question. It's the point. Fashion has been looked at as silly by others for a long time as if it isn't more than a silly thing that is unimportant. I'm not saying this is a good mindset, I'm saying this is a common mindset that all these pretentious characters share. That ANDI was this person. It's why she's literally laughing at work when they are looking at the belts. Why she thought she could just get a job here without kno3ing anything. She didn't even look up who she was working for not even basic research because she didn't take it seriously.
Andi was exactly like her friends and boyfriend. She was precisely that same person, who thought little of these fashion people. She grew out of it through her journey. She began to understand fashion and that world and began to take her job seriously. I think that's why her bf was specifically a chef. To shoe that his job isn't looked down upon in contrast with hers. She grows beyond their little bubble. But it's also kinda understandable that he used to know her when she was that person who didn't care about her hair and looked down on fashion and fit in with her friend. And she started to be a completely different person she gave so much to this job, that not only is it (stupidly) looked down upon. But ISNT EVEN her career. Its just a stepping stone to what she wanted to do. He wants to be chef she wasn't pursuing a career in fashion and that's also why her friends or her boyfriend see it as as important. But she went so far and got lost in that world and it began to consume her life, this job. Which is supposed to be just a stepping stone to her actual career.
Her friends are her starting point she was that. They didn't go on her journey they never learned to take it seriously. It shows her growth and her mindset. She's grown beyond them and then ends up too far into that world. Her talk with her ex at the end shows she's somewhere in the middle now.
She's grown from who she was but isn't so completely lost in the cutthroat fashion world.
@@silverkyre I'm glad she got there. Sad her friends never apologised though.
@@agenttheater5 so true.

So interesting to see men's perspective on this! To me, as a woman, Miranda is BOTH an icon and incredibly toxic. She is formidable in a world that treats her (and all of us women) terribly but takes here ruthlessness to toxic lengths. Like she's still in that "get ahead of the game" mentality when she's clearly already ahead - and I don't think she even realises it.
emiy blunt in paris was the best joke of the video 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣and there wer many good ones.

Rizzo imitating Nate and Benji not having it only to eventually imitating himself was hilarious 😂😂😂😂😂

I like how Benji says stuff I am always thinking... Like that Miranda being a powerful women and her husband not able to put up with that... Damn boy ... We think same..
Haha yes!!
There's a deleted scene that shows Andy going for an interview with a magazine company, and it turns out they only have two openings available - Runway or a car magazine. I've a feeling Andy would have been prepared to interview for any of the journalistic magazines in their portfolio... but she's making the best of the options she's given.

Thank you so much❤️❤️
rizzo not knowing vogue… borderline irredeemable
I think I know basically ONE Madonna song. Never was a huge fan and honestly, neither are a lot of my queer friends so I probably just didn’t hear her enough growing up to care.
😭😭
8:00 I just LOVE this scene when miranda explains "fashion" to her😂
So good!!
Here’s the thing that’s always confused me about the make over scene… Emily is surprised by her wearing the Chanel boots but couldn’t she just go to the closet and pick them out herself if she wanted to wear them???
You would think!
The movie is just name dropping designers as if that's what makes the outfit good, but Nigel styled her outfit. That's his job, he gave her a fashion forward (and yes, expensive) look.
My thoughts on Miranda Priestley:
" she's evil but she's fabulous" - Damien, Mean Girls.
Yas 😂
Her friends are…unique and complex but my favourite is Doug. Imagine if he went to the interview. Basically ‘Confessions of a Shopaholic’ with a gay protagonist which I’d love to watch.
Rizzo knowing simon baker made my week
I love how there's tons of videos and theories about how the boyfriend is the real villain in the movie
😂😂
31:04 “bonjour Ma Mentalist” 😂
Yay merch!!! Also I remember not liking the boyfriend either because he’s just not supportive at all about her decisions. Then when he gets what he wants she’s suppose to drop everything and follow him
He’s so selfish in this 😤
Currently DYING on the toilet seat, and this video is such a huge comfort to me
I was just rewatching old seasons of Drag Race only to see Rizzo as a crew member and dressed as a Drag Queen for a maxi challenge!! You better work! You and Trin killed it! I was pleasantly surprised ! What was working on Drag Race like? Love you guys!!
Omg what episode? I had no idea lol
I’ve really missed your videos. Finally, a movie I have watched and quoted as well as re-enacted many times. That’s all.
Haha we’re glad to be back on a fun movie
33:03 ‘A Cinderella Story’ Reference? Love that!
To all the team films where they have to tell a parent they’re giving up their dream lol
When I lived in NY in 2019 I worked for a man who was nicer than this but just as difficult. A lá:
- Taking an hr to myself on a Sunday washing my hair and not answering his text message for 30 min and then receiving a text that says “oh your phone must be broken”.
- Getting 15 flight reschedule requests for an international flight that left in less than 24 hrs

@@PinkPopcast So did my mom and I! 👏🤩 So nice to hear other people know about it and loved it! My favourite episode is the San Joaquin killer episodes or when Patrick goes blind 😖😂
If you guys haven’t watched it on your own time, you should consider Ted Lasso. It’s a warm hug of a show. ❤
