Dear Meryl, we Italians do put carrots in homemade tomato sauce: minced carrots, along with minced onions and minced celery, are the base for "soffritto", which we use for start making Bolognese and Ragù. So, don't worry this much :)
She could speak a bit of Italian and she did used to live with John Cazale! I'm almost sure Mamma Cazale showed her how to make ragu

Before it’s over Anne Hathaway is gonna start inexplicably talking with a British accent in her everyday life.
Carrots in tomato sauce are actually quite normal. After olive oil and garlic add your canned plum tomatoes, tomato paste and water, dump in a red onion (halved) and couple of carrots (halved), rind of Parmesan, your aromatic (stalk of oregano). Cook it slowly for 30min or till the carrots are tender. Remove the veg, scrape off rind, and aromatic. Add fresh basil, salt and pepper and mix in pasta with some pasta water. Mix it over high heat and serve topped with more basil and Parmesan. Maybe toss some rocket in a little olive oil and balsamic vinegar for the side.
I didn't come here for a recipe but since I read this, now I have to try it because this looks delicious! Thanks!
I am confused because I always do carrots in my tomato sauce because I grew up with it and it is so tasty. Fact is, I even did that a few hours before for dinner xD
@@leonie7190 carrots are part of the holy trinity of Italian cuisine (soffritto) so unsure why they were so surprised especially most probably travelled to Italy many times.

That’s Keeley Hawes, who had told a story earlier in the episode about how she’d bought a meal from Tesco Metro and pretended she’d cooked it in order to impress her husband when they were dating, which Meryl thought was funny. So the comment was like a wink-wink to that.

Since the pandemic I can't look at these actors the same way. They have been silent and complicit with all the governments disgraceful measures without speaking out, that they lack character and only are money driven! Not supporting the movie industry anymore, sorry👎.
