Yes, heart renders, healers and tailors are all the same with different specializations. Nina can heal, just not nearly as well as someone who specialized in healing. And to answer your question about age, the more powerful a Grisha is, the longer they live. (Also Matthias and Nina didn't have sex, he just dreamed about it a lot LOL)

I’m positive tailors are not the same as healers and heart renders. As they are like half Durests, they can also manipulate non organic material. As show by them manipulating makeup and other non-organic compounds.

The series doesn’t explain it well. But heartrenders or healers can learn to talior to a degree. But they still couldn’t manipulate inorganic matter. Like chemical compounds, certain tattoos and makeup etc.

He can do way more than just manipulate metal, Durastes are basically alchemists (of anything that isn't organic or chemical), they can turn wood into gold, water into wine, bend metal, and even transfer poison from someone's body to their bodies

a little correction: Durasts manipulate materials: be it metals, bones, fibers etc. Alchemists also exists in this world and they are called Alkemi, those specialize in substances like poisons, can make bombs etc. The guy in purple kefta whom Kirigan essencially hired is an alkemi (he even introduced himself like that). Both Durasts & Alkemi are part of the Materialki order.

it actually bugs me too much that the show writers made Zoya say something racist to Alina as such a cheap way to portray her as a mean girl, instead of showing how Zoya’s initial hatred towards Alina is because of brainwashing/ gr00mimg by the Darkling ✋

Specially Aleksander; this has never been explicitly stated but I think we can make the fair assessment that he is even more powerful than Baghra and aging even slower than her; given the fact that we can see grey hairs on her now that there weren't in the flashbacks we saw in season 1, while he hasn't changed at all
So Alina would have the potential, given her powers, to age just as slowly or similarly; if she continues to grow and nurture her powers and specially with the amplifiers... It is probably accurate to say that Alina hasn't aged at all since season 1 episode 2 when she started to use her powers regularly, and certainly not aging at all now with the amplifiers and her healthy use of her powers... Whether she would be able to live as long as The Darkling is unclear, probably could, but here we would have to talk about how powerful the Darkling actually is; hands down the most powerful Grisha in history and Alina even with 2 amplifiers isn't even close, specially in the "skills and knowledge" department... I mean if he really wanted to kill her, then she would be dead 100%
Do i love this show? Yes. Do i love it even more bc of the cast and their interviews? Absolutely! ❤

A quote from the books from Kaz is that when you've proven yourself to be a monster you don't need to do every monstrous thing. This is said way before he does that to Rollins for the record, so it is not a reference to what he did here. But it is one of the ways he carries himself and keeps his reputation in the place that it is. Since people already believe he is a monster he utilises that knowledge in different ways. This is one of them.

Yay!! I was so ready for this reaction 😊 I read the books and def think the show is better! The characters are less annoying and they are hitting all the major book points just in a different order and ways.
If book loyalist got exactly what they wanted (a word for word replica of the book) they still wouldn’t be happy. The show is great with or without having read the books!

I don't agree. No spoilers, but the last episode's pacing is actually dreadful.
They're clearly coasting by on the book reader's love for the Wesper relationship and rushing through any development or even chemistry for them. They're one of my favourite couples in fiction, but in the show I felt absolutely nothing for them.
There's also way too much telling instead of showing in the big reveal episode, which is completely absurd because this is a visual medium and the scene from the book would have made spectacular viewing. Instead we just got Baghra flatly expositing it to Mal in a room.
The whole sword plotline is just silly.
The actors also seem to be a lot less convincing this season than the first. Especially Kit Young - probably because his character is being flanderised.
Don't get me wrong, it's still decent tv. But for me this season is like a 6/10 where the first season was an 8 or 9.

It was pretty clear that she was reacting badly to being held down, though? And she brings up the Menagerie multiple times?
I feel like this is the same as when people said season one was ignoring Kaz’s trauma - it’s not, it’s just not going in depth on it yet. And the last thing I want is non-con flashbacks for Inej, tbh.
@JustWandering yeah honestly I feel like people are expecting everything to be thrown out when it much better to wait for those moments so the characters have more time to be fleshed out.

I just got up the question about healers, heartrenders, and tailors. Corpornalki is the order of the living and the dead. As one, you train with others like you until a certain stage in which you can choose to become a healer (which I believe takes a lot more work but do not quote me there) or a heartrender (which is combat focused). Tailors are not technically part of this group. They are rare, and when the darkling got Gneya he said, in the books, that he had a choice. He could either put her in corpornalki or materialki (which are the purple keftas. They deal with the material. It is a similar situation as the corporalki I believe in which at some stage you can choose which way to go, either to be a durest (metals largely) or an alkemi (bombs and poisons). Another word for th grisha in this order is fabricator. This does change throughout the series, but they are put in the workrooms and don't see combat. They are the only order that are not used in fighting.) Instead of putting her in one of these, he gifted her to the royal family. She even states in the books that she in not corpornalki but she chooses to wear red. In truth she is kind of her own separate thing that is a weird mix between the two orders. Like for example, she can alter people physically to a very large extent (and it is not just makeup. She could change the structure of your face if you so wished), and heal. But that poison she used on the king, she made it herself, like an alkemi would. And she does more things like that throughout the books too. Also, I am adding this on that other corpornalki are capable of tailoring too (aka the alteration of one's face or body). It is just not taught for most of the series because it isn't seen as useful. I hope this does clear some things up about how the orders and tailoring fits into it. Like I said in another comment, the show really doesn't explain any of this. And I don't blame anyone that doesn't understand the orders. (Also I am just going to add this on to help. Heartrenders wear red kefts with black embroidery. Healers wear red keftas with purple embroidery. Genya has her own separate unique kefta which is red with blue.)

I was a little upset about the changes, tbh the pacing was legit just like annoying. But also I love that we got THE BASTARD OF THE BARREL his take down of the dregs from Haksell was one of my favorites in the book. I’m glad we got it. As always thank you for your hilarious reactions!
Definitely wanna know what pacing wise you hated. I personally enjoyed it BUT think it could have just been a 3 hour adventure film with a little more momentum! But i also prefer films to tv shows - Rizzo

@@PinkPopcast honestly it was more of the last 4 episodes just sped through so much of the last two books of the OG trilogy. I wanted to see more of what could have been political intrigue (not that it was done that well in the books- i was hoping this is what the show could have improved upon). The most annoying was that it was rushed but also like constantly in slow motion? Something felt off to me. Idk. I enjoyed S1 more and like was super excited to watch all 8 episodes in one go with my sister, who didn’t read any of the books. This time around, we kept thinking “it’s not over yet? They’re dragging this along” but also “this is going too fast, what happened?” It has the seeds for the sequels and for the Crows remaining storylines so either way I’m excited for more. But idk I think my brain wanted to the books brought to life, despite reading it a decade ago.

The both of you MUST read at least six of crows and crooked kingdom! I promise you, it's worth the effort! The pages flew by for me as I immersed myself in the story...So much came to life on screen but the books are so much better...Isn't that usually how it works out? :-) Much of the script had lines from the books, example: Let me be your monster...The bit about Kaz needing an excuse to talk to Inej, the famous "if I couldn't walk I'd crawl to you" line that I'm hoping is in season three...The I don't need your prayers line...the I want you bit..."knifes out pistols drawn"...ugh, so much better than the show...The greisa verse books make an appearance in the show as well...but many books were meshed into season two and eh, it was in many instances just a dumpster fire mess...I cannot say it enough, the books are awesome, take the time to read them...

As a book reader watching this season I didn’t really like because looking at it all I could see was what it could have been, but I understood that objectively it was probably alright. My one silver lining to this was that I was super stoked because I would be able to watch y’all’s reactions and throw tomatoes with you if you didn’t like it, or cheer with y’all if you did. So to me you guys are the best thing about the second season of shadow and bone ❤

Glad you picked up in the meaning behind some of those popular Darkling quotes that Ben Barnes loved to push into the script, like the one: "You live in a single moment, I live in a thousand"... Which explains really well his perception of time and his view of events throughout time... You are right, a person with that long of a life span and with that much experience with the worse of the world, is not going to have the same outlook on events than, let's be honest, a naïve and inexperienced teenager like Alina... Like, if we are talking about experience and knowledge, there is not a single person, other than Baghra, that has the "resume" to pretend to tell Aleksander that he is wrong; even if we agree on the morality of his actions, how can any character, even the "adult" ones or the ones who consider themselves more mature, pretend that they have a "better" basis for their arguments and ideals than he does
That's why it is very interesting to hear his conversations with Baghra and specially with Aline, about his views and how naïve he perceives hers to be... How he warns her about the power she is amassing; the stupidity of thinking that destroying the fold would solve everything or that HE is their worse enemy, when he has been fighting the real enemy (unfair and unchanging hatred towards Grisha) for hundreds of years... There is a great quote from the books that says a lot about both his view of Alina's ideals and his intentions towards her discovery that they didn't use of the show which happens in one of their mental conversations that says a lot about both his view of Alina's ideals and his intentions towards her discovering her power and her "true self":
-Alina: “I’m not what you think I am,” I whispered desperately.
- The Darkling stepped closer to me and said, his voice so low that only I could hear, “I doubt you have any idea what you are.”
