I agree I've been watching a lot of Skydio 2 reviews, experiences, and unboxings lately. I'm in batch 3. And this rundown of the Skydio 2 was the most informative and clear video I've seen yet. Please push this drone to it's limits and try everything!
@@DustinDunnill Aloha Dustin, I too am in Maui. I just recently got started with droning. I recently bought the Ruko F11 PRO to start my flying experience. I did come across by accident a video about the skydio 2. Can you give me tips on where it's ideal to fly drones on our island. I do want to get the skydio 2 but their website says that they completely stopped their operation due to the pandemic. I hope they come back. Thanks for your videos, very informative and interesting. Just don't fly too high...stay away from people, airports and Haleakala crater and you should be ok 🍻🤙
All those companies need to start sending you review units. Especially DJI. You have by far the best reviews. No bs, youjust use the drone how every other person would. I appreciate your work.
Dustin, I watch all of your drone review videos because of the detail you put towards them. I will watch all of your Skydio 2 videos as well, although I have watched many reviews already. I will tell you, in open areas, following fast moving subjects, this thing is second to none. As a cinematic drone, it is much more difficult to control and get smooth footage if not flying in a straight line.
It is basically a flying GoPro, and for that reason, I'm out! Thanks for your Reviews!

Hi Dustin, just got my Skydio 2 and going over again you great video on getting everything set up properly. I have in the past just jump right in and do thing not in the right order then have issues later. I have looked over many videos and your's is always so precise and complete. Even Skydio really doesn't have a good video tutorial.

Very curious about this drone... it must have even more cpu onboard than discos and bebop2... I’m wondering if/how it should be possible to have access to it... (on the disco, you only have to push twice on the power button to have access to the onboard computer through a WiFi telnet session... )

I would like a dual phone screen record and camera record experience testing the max range with the phone, solo beacon, phone with beacon, controller, controller with beacon. Try it in an urban areas with lots of houses nearby that could have a more real world interference issues. I'm worried about the quality of connection on this thing.
Lastly, I would LOVE to know what your average battery life is. You own 2 batteries, it takes an hour to charge 1 battery. If each battery got you 20min, then wouldn't all you need is 3 batteries and that dual charger hooked to like a high output Anker external battery charger to get continuous flight?
Flight Test suggestion - put the beacon in one of your wings, and have the skydio chase the wing. Not long range, just local.

Dustin, your speculation is exactly right. They didn't give it to any drone reviewers. They gave it to some you-tubers who had alot of subs., but never even had a drone before . When I ask why ,, they gave me some B-S about how drone reviewers ask 10,000$-20,000$ to do a review and they wanted and honest review. Boy Dustin, I didn't know you got that much😅😃.. They did not want a real drone flier to get one and get any negative comments while they were takeing pre-orders. Pretty damn sad. I was happy to see and American drone, but the way they entered the market was very disappointing.
I think your the best drone reviewer, Dustin. Some good ones have allready crashed their's. Billy Kyle's went bonkers and dove into the lake, Kloogy Tech"Davids" smashed into a bridge, accelerated heights smashed into a tree, and a few others. One minute it is following you, and then for no reason , it will just take off veering right or left and out of control. I am not sure when they have had the last update, hopefully it will be better for you. Mike in N.C.

Just like when DJI gives Rick Smith or Kelly Shores a drone they don't pay them, Rick and Kelly just sign and N-D-A and don't put out a video until release day and they get to keep the drone., and also tell DJI about any bugs they notice. Hell nobody even knew there was no telemetry on the s-dio 2 app until a real drone flier got one. A few weeks later they put the telemetry on the app.. Even a cheap 200$ drone has telemetry when you get it.

Still waiting for mine to be shipped? Think I'm in the 3rd batch. Only thing about the battery holding system is if you crash it will probably come out. That stops the video recording, but I guess it lightens the weight in case there is a second impact. Will be watching for the maiden flights!

Yes charge first
got one and sold it after 3 days. average camera quality, super autonomous, and that means it has a will of it's own and it won't let you do anything that it won't like.. there is no way of disabling the autonomous part, so forget about indoors flying and night or even dusk flights.

Hi Dustin, always love you reviews and videos. Question, I have the Skydio 2 coming hopefully next week, but I also am upgrading my phone to the new Samsung S20 ultra. Do you think there might be a problem with the new phone? I have the S10+ and all my DJI drones and camera like the Insta360 one X and R work fine. Anyway your thoughts...
I'm not certain but good to keep your S10+ as a backup until you find out by trying.
Ok mine is arriving in the next few days. Have it crashed yet since you have purchased it?
I finally crashed it recently but it was because someone shot it with paintballs while filming a match on field. Still working fine after replacing 2 propellers 🍻
@@DustinDunnill thanks for the reply. As much as I'm excited for this. I feel like I'm seeing more crash videos. Maybe placebo. Bear in mind I do have a DJI Spark and Pro Platinum and haven't crashed any of those yet but then again they were never autonomous. If it crashed it would have been user error:) either way great review.

Yes, I'm not sure what will happen if the drone looses connection with the pilot controller and the other person has the beacon though. 🍻

Depends if it’s just tracking that you plan on using it for then i would say Skydio 2
SKYDIO 2 is the best for tracking that I've ever tested. Get the beacon module addon and it will perform very well for fast downhill as long as the woods aren't too tight. Dji drones will lose you as soon as you make a quick turn or pass behind an object at speed 🍻
