If you want to explore with your drone at all the air 2... range is WAY better, even my mavic mini gets double the range. If you only want action shots the skydio is 100% the best, it wont crash and it doesn't get lost every 100 feet

@@RogerAVHansen I will be buying an air2 over the skydio 2 after my experience flying both as well. My mavic mini has more than double the range that the skydio has and I love exploring at distance when i go camping. I also think te skydio's tracking is amazing but very chaotic and sporadic. It makes my motion sick lol

Thanks for the great info. We are loving our Skydio2. Works great for our mountain biking needs. Looking forward to more upgrades. Looks like I need to add a controller soon. Using the beacon and the phone only at this point.
Great video, just got my Skydio 2, 2 days ago, and did my first App flight yesterday, you made it seem easier. I have the Beacon and Controller but haven't used them yet.

Wow what an amazing drone. Im still blown away by this product. Just this past Sunday I was out recording a friend rollerskating while using 3 different drones. It was basically a test to see which drone works best for what we were trying to accomplish. I flew mostly in horizon mode but found myself having to switch to Acro for better control. But after seeing your through video/review I know that I have to have the Skydio2. It's the perfect tool to have for the types of if recording I do. Thanks again for the awesome work you and your team put together to share with us all.

One of the best tech reviews I have seen hands down. Great review man, getting my skydio soon. I shoot for commercial purposes with my parrot Anafi. I took it down to Flordia for vacation, and unfortunately the Parrot (I have used it over 100 shoots) lost control right after I tracked our boat with active track, spazed out, and performed an uncontrolled decent into the Tampa bay drink. Unsurprisingly, parrot didn’t do anything. I am seeing if you or Skydio had any information for flying over water? I know this type of drone has to watch over solid water to “map” the surroundings, but with the ocean waves I feel it would detect it. Thanks again for the review though, top notch.

Oh, the old spaz and dive - never a fan favorite. That super sucks to hear, sorry about that. I've flown mine over water (chasing a jetski). You should be fine, just don't fly it too low (from what I understand).
I would also add that the greater risk for doing an uncontrolled dive into water exists when the lighting is poor, GPS signal is marginal, and the water is glassy. The Skydio2 will have a difficult time determining ‘which way is up’ and may not make the right choices. That said, the instructions do warn about flying in poor or very dim lighting. I watched another video where the vlogger ignored the low quality GPS warning and was using the beacon over very calm water well into a dusk scenario, and the drone dove when it swung out over the water.

Hey Sagi, What up. This video is such a wow. The straightforward, balanced and informative way you describe this drone is outstanding. As usual, you offer up your opinions in a fair and balanced way. This drone is so awesome. I was considering a drone for travel video shots and was looking at the DJI Mavic Mini just to get started and aid portability. This Skydio 2 changes my whole perspective now. The tracking and obstacle avoidance is super slick and the footage you got was outstanding. 3 axis gimbal, 4K and 1080 120fps Video quality, obstacle avoidance and portability has crushed the mavic mini. Great Video thank you for some good in depth info. I been using the MAvic Pro 2 and just wasn't meeting my needs with the tracking but the other features are very nice and will be useful to me in certain things. But I went ahead and ordered the Skydio 2 and should fit what I want it to do.
Great video, 2nd or 3rd time watching. It does take some time learning things, like connecting the beacon to drone first then your phone. And just not picked the tip of turning off wifi after you connect controller.

Nicely done. I just purchased a Skydio 2 because the tracking "feature" of DJI's products just doesn't cut it. I appreciate your perspective on distance and panoramic movements, but am thinking I'll be ok with that compromise vs the better tracking and obstacle avoidance in autonomous flight with the Skydio 2. Nice review. Thanks! I have owned the Skydio 2 since last December. Everything he says in the review is spot on. I use the Skydio more than my other three drones combined. The tracking and obstacle avoidance is insane. This is my “fun” drone. If you can afford it and can find one, buy it. I have a feeling that Skydio will continue to release new features through firmware updates in the future. Once you learn to trust the obstacle avoidance, you can get some great video using the controller, even though it does not have the range of the Mavic line, you can go places that the Magic’s can’t.

Fantastic review. I have had 4 Mavics over the years, and we've made many good videos with them. We ride dirt bikes and offroad down in Baja. The landscape shots are awesome with a Mavic, but it's very hard to get really good action shots. You have to do it manually. This is a game changer. Submitted a Sydio per-order and can't wait to get one.
