- I assemble and review the Home Depot heavy duty shelving unit with wire mesh shelves, model # HBR902490W5C, HD SKU 1001621280. I focus on material and manufacturing quality, talk about anchoring options and comparable storage shelving from other competitors (Uline, Canadian Tire).

really good breakdown thank you for this. quality video
I have something similar in my garage. I didn't fit the bottom shelf though. I find it convenient to roll my tool cart, air compressor and tires under it, and it's much easier to clean.
Good tip! Great storage for heavy things on dollys, like transmissions and engines.
You can install wheels under the columns, or purchase a tire rack specifically for tires.
I have a few of these. They are great!
I have both the Husky and the CT brand. The Husky is much better, plus it comes in red!
I had priced those out a few years back. I’m Canadian as well - princess auto had an option for a while. I ultimately build my shelving unit out of 2x6’s and plywood because the former own had built some wacky shelves (build really poorly) and rebuilt the shelves from that material. It also made more sense after realizing, I had to work around a few existing gas lines. I had wished I would have considered buying 2x3’s or ripping down the existing 2x6’s… lost a lot of space. 😅
You'll enjoy the day when you eventually tear it all down and get to start fresh and have the years of familiarity with the space to know what you REALLY want. Princess Auto is also a good call out; although I still shop at PA from time to time, it's become more of an odds and sods place with the occasional useful, cheap piece of shop equipment. Not that you can get shelving at KMS Tools, but that's where I'd now prefer to get most of my tools and equipment from.
How much did you spend
@@FigureItAudiMy friend, how much does your shelf cost and how much weight does each layer bear?
Mine came beat to hell as well. It was the Husky 90" version from Home Depot but the model / SKU is slightly different (N2W902490W5B / 1007587682). It didn't have any paper or foam in the box to keep everything from rubbing together. Metal to metal rubbing up against itself to and fro. Their solution for me was touch up paint. I don't know how you can touch up a powder coat finish with spray paint and make it look good. Also, mine didn't have the pins yours has to hold the horizontal beams to the upright. They must have changed the design. I agree with you that for the money, I expected a little more. $389 US + tax and delivery in March 2024. Had I known what I know now I'd have splurged for the Gladiator brand. 🤙
Thanks for weighing in Greg - It's important to help keep people watching up to date on any changes to the product offering in each market, especially as the effects of shrinkflation keep happening.
@FigureItAudi ...and thank you for going through the effort you did by creating and posting the video.
This price is too expensive for us. Our 78-inch long and high shelves only cost $49, and they can also be installed with wheels for easy movement.
I just use Hyllis from IKEA, holds up my transmissions and cinder blocks well

Where can you buy extra shelves?
I don't think you can, but you should leave a review comment/the question on HD's site, on the product page, for Husky to answer. They do, sometimes.
@@FigureItAudi Thanks!
Choose the rack based on the size and weight you need. We have racks with a maximum weight of 1,100 pounds per layer for less than $85.
