      That's a great idea. Wouldn't be surprised if the design engineer wanted the handle installed that way but the Manufacturing engineers wrote the assembly instructions wrong.

    I left the top box in the back of my truck and rolled the bottom unit up to the truck and slid the top on. It's difficult to get the top on by yourself, but it is possible.

    Remove the side handle and attach it to the lid. Now you have a more ergonomical handle.

    Just bought this exact box yesterday! Thank you gor the "TIP" on the top and the lost space behind it! Plus the idea of,it falling on my 69 Bird and 70 Chevelle is NOT going to happen. Never know when someone else opens the drawers! So I will bolt that to,the wall! Take the top off and place a cabinet inside the wasted space that will catch anything and everything! Have just the box for that area! Storage is critical. Great Video and well done!!!

    Came upon your channel searching for a review on this tool chest. Glad I did. Your garage is nearly identical to the one I'm getting ready to build. 24x30 10 ft walls. Storage trusses on half and Scissor trusses on the other so I can put in a 4 post lift.

    • @FigureItAudi
      @FigureItAudi  Год назад +2

      Glad you stopped by. If I can lend my opinion on your garage: if it fits in the budget, make it wider. I'm 32x24 and I still have issues storing things on the exterior edges, with 3 cars. You'll lose a foot of space just from the framing, and the lift will eat up a ton of space that you just won't feel the impact of till it's there. I wish I would have pushed mine to 34'.

    • @slim_pickins6393
      @slim_pickins6393 Год назад +1

      @Figure It Audi I appreciate your reply. I want to go 24 by 34 but where I live I would have to apply for a variance and get my neighbor's permission to build something larger than 24 by 30. Plus I'd have to put in Frost footings for the larger garage which is more money of course. I may like the bullet do it anyway.

    There is not only 3 colours but 4. Powder coated red. That one is only available online. I ordered it in red because BLACK is the colour one NEVER goes with. The swivel casters usually always go on one side because this way it is easier to move it the slim side around between things in case the chest needs to be moved. Makes sense? To not move the chest completely against the wall is not only because of the lid but because of the room for the cables which come out of the rear. I would never move it totally against the wall anyway just to avoid eventual scratches at the wall and the hatch. If the little bouncing and probaly tipping over bothers you, simply cut some 2by4's to size and squeeze the underneath right beside the casters for more stability. The macnetic backwall does not make no sense for you because you just simply don't know how to use it in a different way but with the tools.

    Don't knock styrofoam, you can always use it to make napalm, and the bottle opener is obviously for ford mechanics, not audi mechanics...
    They've definitely skimped on the features in one year. Now there's only one power strip (right side), and previous versions had a wooden working deck over one of the drawers.
    Re rocking, more pricey toolboxes have a feature where you can only open one drawer at a time, and you can't open a second drawer unless you close the first one that is open.
    If you want to have a better lid handle, get you a big pull handle and pop-rivet it over the sunken handle.

    Awesome review! Very detailed. You need a couple of Kobalt Workbenches and one more Husky toolbox, but 24 inches wide. Get rid of the foldable tables, just use them for temporary work or camping/beach trips. I would also recommend an old mini component stereo rack so that you can place your computer and monitor there and use the rest of the shelves for additional storage.
    BTW, I really enjoyed the the ''Garage Build Series"

    Hi! Good review. Is the top lid removable? I have room for the chest, but not to open it haha

    • @FigureItAudi
      @FigureItAudi  Год назад +1

      The lid has a hinge that runs the length of the tool box and it's riveted (small rivets, maybe 3-4mm) to the chest. It's certainly possible to drill them out to remove the lid if you wanted to and might look ok if you touched it up with black paint. Not an ideal solution though.

    • @FigureItAudi
      @FigureItAudi  10 месяцев назад

      Not really - Nothing has broken, still glad I got the largest size chest, I still don't use the magnetic strip, the power outlets are great for battery charging (even if I only use a few plugs) and I still have never been in need of the bottle opener. The real question may be: is it still worth it at $1700? You tell us, since I'm sure you're shopping chests in this price range in 2023.
