  • Russ Taff enjoyed great success in Christian music, winning Grammy and Dove awards in his career over several decades. But away from the stage and the spotlight, he was tormented by childhood abuse, legalism and family dysfunction that led him into a sad world of alcohol addiction, just like his father.
Russ and his wife Tori describe the painful journey through this hidden addiction that nearly destroyed their marriage, and the healing that finally came through Russ' realization that God had desperately loved him and been pursuing him all along.

This was wonderful! What is so beautiful is that the Lord knew everything about Russ and yet chose him to sing with the Imperials. That was not a mistake. I remember hearing them at Jesus events the anointing and Glory was so strong. The Lord does not love him any more now that his wounds are healed- His love was passionate and strong then and the same now.
This is a very important message for anyone that stands up in front of people to sing or to minister. We all are imperfect vessels. I love Russ and Tori- always have- always will!! Bravo, Bravo!! I am so sorry Russ for all the hurt and pain that you have been through. Never ever stop singing for Jesus!!

Such a powerful testimony!! I battle childhood stuff so much . My parents have been married a total of 11 times between the two of them. I am a product of that and ALL the craziness that went along with it..I am on my second marriage.. ( first one was for 20 years ) going on 7 years now but I have brought so much pain and deep insecurity into this marriage and feel so alone and ashamed At times...My husband tries to understand but it’s tough on him. ..it’s such a long painful journey...encouraged hearing this couple and knowing that I am not alone in this battle.

Wow I come from a long line of alcoholics. Funnily enough I am allergic to alcohol but my sister really suffers. My dad was the child of two alcoholics. This story really touched me, thank you.

What a glorious story of redemption. It's essential that God's law is proclaimed but it MUST be followed with Gospel. If not people are put into bondage, instead of set free.

Can Jim Daly ever shut up enough to let the guests talk? I've had it with him needing to be "the smartest person in the room" with. every. conversation.
      RT: "Mama June"
      JD: "oh, there's a story"
And then he doesn't allow the story to ever be told.
You're so so smart Jim Daly, that Russ' voice, his story, was lost.

Thank you for your testimony brother...yes we are sinners BUT saved by amazing grace and children of the living God. My remedy of trouble times is listening to the songs you and others (Gaithers) sing so wonderfully.

Russ's mom sounds like my mom. She would tell me all the financial troubles that my older brother and his family were going through when I was in elementary school.

No, with all due respect, it doesn’t have to be raw for the rest of his life. Jesus heals the brokenhearted (Isaiah 61:1). I pray right now in His name for complete emotional and psychological healing and redemption of these past wounds.
