I love old abandoned cars being revived and you two are pretty cool. My dad still has his first car which is a 1965 Mercury Comet. Them little 302s are solid engines
Hey, Rev! You and your Dad never fail to make my day! The happiness you show when an old piece of iron fires up and runs, really makes me smile. I wish I could find a nice old father/son project around here that wouldn't break the bank. Everything here in CT is wicked expensive. Everyone thinks they're sitting on a gold mine. Until I find something worth my time, effort and wallet; I will sit back and enjoy the heck out of your videos. Thanks so much for sharing. God bless.
I was in high school auto shop when heard that you'd need to raise the engine off the mounts of the '75 chevy monza v8 and thought that was just plain crazy! I didn't realize the 302 Mavericks and comets were just as tough. Makes me appreciate my 6cyl falcon all the more! Always love your videos guys!
This is just great. I love seeing you guys interacting together. Memories to last a lifetime. I love how the ol man has become more comfortable in front of the camera. Great content!
That car is pretty rare. Only around 10,000 1973 Mercury Comet GT’s were built. Don’t know how many came with the 3 speed manual but I do know not a lot came with the manual. This car deserves a rotisserie nut and bolt restoration
Once again you guys have brought back another old ford. Way to go. I've got a 72 Maverick grabber 302 automatic. I gave it to my brother for his birthday. You just can't beat these old Ford's. Great video rev. You an the ol' man rock. Catch you guys on your next video. 😁👍👍
Awesome video! Glad you got running after 35+ years! Yes changing spark plugs on them isn't fun! Not alot space to get socket and swivel and ratchet in the engine compartment! I hope you get that 1 back on the road! Not many Mercury comet or Ford mavericks on the road anymore! Take care.
You guys are definitely on top of my RUclips automotive list, at least equal to vgg. It's a lot of fun to watch you guys work! Absolutely love your videos, and I hope there's a lot more to come.
Whenever I see one of these cars, it takes me back to the summer of '73. We were all fairly new drivers, and met at a friends house for a party. My friend's Mom had a new "73 Comet, in a copper color. Unfortunately, there was underage drinking involved. We were out of snacks, so my friend decided to make a snack run. We were standing in the back yard, and we heard a big crash. He had impaled the rear end of the Comet into the front of my "67 Galaxie. {which of course led me to your page}. Well, needless to say , the Comet came out the loser, and both quarter panels were buckled down from the impact-the only damage to the Galaxie, was that the bumper sported a bit of a smile. Well, the party was over, and my friend lost his driving privileges for the rest of the summer. The Comet was fixed, but never looked right-I think they pulled it out a bit, and then packed it with bondo. Thanks for letting me share my story-thanks for these great videos-God bless you!
Memories for life. My son let is 15 year old have a first drive by pulling his car into our THREE car wide driveway. Well, first drive he had no clue. He slammed the gas thinking you had to push hard and piled into my old suburban. Great shot it was between the doors. It has been three years and the poor kid still swears off cars. Comets may be "cheap" but suburbans are a dime a dozen so I had no problem selling it on for peanuts.
My gramps had a 73 comet, great car! get that beast back on the road !!! get rid of that big front bumper throw on a 4 barrel and a 4 speed and YeeeeeeeeHaw!
Well, I had a ‘72 Maverick with the 302, but a 4 dr. Got the chance to do a bit of fixin’, I had the intake manifold off and cleaned out the ports just a touch, rebuilt the 2 bbl carb, installed true full dual exhaust, with turndowns just past the rear axle, had the transmission rebuilt and added a shift kit. Found a set of Aluminum slot mags and mounted E-70-14’s up front and F-60-14’s on the rear, ( couldn’t afford some good radials, but these did the job). Did a homemade paint job using ‘75 Corvette Medium Blue Metalflake, stunning. Was in the process of finding a rear diff( I had a 2.76, looking for a 3.23) when I sold it to upgrade my ride to something newer. Miss that ride. Later on I also had a ‘73 Mercury Comet with the straight 6, 200 ci, 3 speed manual on the floor( with the longest stick shift I ever used), that engine locked up on me 4 months later.
@@mrdiplomat9018 worst I have ever seen for changing the plugs on was a project car a guy I know built years ago. He put a built up Ford 429 in a Ford Pinto. To change the plugs on that one required taking off both front tires to get to the access ports he drilled into the inner fenders to access the plugs.
I had a 1975 maverick with a 250 straight I loved my first new car for college. In tan glow finish loved the color too. no problem working on the 250 plenty of room
When I first saw the car, my first question was WHY? Then the story, and I said it MUST run. Then I saw the smile from your Dad and You. Then the first bark of that old 302 and the Father and Son connection and joy for all the memories. Rev it's what it's all about, GOD lives in the little things. Thank you for sparking old memories of my Father and I working on all those old cars and trucks.. Many Blessings
Carl, I understand... We should be ashamed that we let it rot... but we can get to it now and see if we can bring it back to life.. Thanks for watching and comments, God Bless.
Fantastic. I don’t know how you and the Ole Man manage to do it, but you are able to get an engine that hasn’t run in almost four decades to fire up. Amazing. Congrats to you both. I know how sentimental the car is to you, and I am so happy for you. Great video. Big Al.
I enjoy all your videos. I would give anything to do something like this with my dad. Unfortunately he passed 45 years ago when i was 5. So please please please. Anyone who is lucky enough to still have a dad alive with them enjoy every second of it

The smoke out the back, when we were young, we called that Mosquito Control. I love your videos and, believe it or not, I am learning how to do things, at 61 years old. Praise the Lord!
That Comet ☄️ sounded so good when it fired up to life Rev. This Mercury deserves to be driven again. Would y’all consider doing it? Y’all have a lot of memories riding in it this would be the car to restore with the original factory mags. And definitely dual exhaust would be a must. I’ve enjoyed this video so much May Y’all be blessed beyond measure.
One of the best videos yall have put out! My parents had a 70 Maverick painted in anti -establishment green ! It was a 4 or 6 banger, can't remember which.
The older I get, I keep hearing the phrase " Would you just look at that!", is what I was thinking when the old man sent the electric charge thru you. It sound like if that car could talk your daddy would not put a battery in it to keep it quite. Good lord what a Ford, I loved the video.
I had a 73 comet GT 302 3-speed, green with black stripe. I was 16 and in high school. That was a great car, it was a great time to be alive and young. As I remember you had to be a magician to get the plugs out. Lol
It’s really hard to focus on the good when the bad just keeps piling on. Watching these videos do let me escape reality for a little while. Thanks for that.
I've always wanted a Comet or maverick. My mom had a 74 Comet GT that my parents bought new. They got rid of it in probably 81-82 due to it rusting out. Glad you got the old girl running. Would be nice to see it drive again
I miss the Mercury brand but Ford killed it when they stopped letting it have its own styling. For instance the 80s Thunderbirds and Cougars. I loved both but I liked the styling of the cougars better. They were similar but different. Then they just became a rebadged Ford with a few more features.
@@RevStoration If it makes you feel better my uncle got me almost the same way. I mean he lit me up like a Christmas tree. The Old Man prolly got got too. Just think you can get your boy now too. It hurts but it won't hurt you, if you follow my reasoning. I do love watching your videos.

There is a commercial from about 1972, Ford was marketing to women and wanted to promote "Women's lib" as they called it. They had a bunch of female stewardesses (as they called them) put together a Maverick that was party taken apart. I don't think the world was ready for your neighbor. lol how tings change.
I had a 1974 Mercury Comet. It was stolen in 1989 in Framingham, Massachusetts. It was never recovered. What kind of a sick bastard would steal a 74 Comet and keep it for 34 years. :/
Great job you two I'm happy you got it running I no that means a how lot to Dad 👍👏 we had a 1974 4 door dark green maverick with 302v8 O man would that car lay rubber if you had a tuneup that shop would tell you never bring that car back for a tuneup lol good thing you didn't need plugs change very often you would run out of places to have a tuneup lol
I actually kinda suprised she ran but with good solid effort and patience great things can happen, funniest vid of you both I've seen so far lol, that wind up power box was a hoot haha 😂
Wow, that was a tough one. I figured it wasn't going even crank, let alone idle. I'd be interested to see: Buy some glass for it and put it in, pressure wash it, try to get it driving. Maybe touch up the paint. My family had a 73 Maverick also bought new when I was a kid so I was rooting for it. And they had a Falcon 10 years before that.
Wow Rev & Ole Man - As I said, This video brought back lots of memories. When you made the comment about pulling the engine to change the spark plugs- I was thinking the same exact thing just before you made the statement. From what I remember about the 72 Maverick, I also used the stubby ratchets and also flex head ratchets with the bent handles and flex joints. I had the C4 automatic transmission in my Maverick and always used to laugh about how short the driveshaft was compared to all of the truck driveshafts that I was used to dealing with. Regarding the fuel cap; The original fuel caps were quite large and were fairly heavy. I’m thinking that they were pretty similar to the fuel caps that were on the older Mustangs. The seats and console looked pretty much the same as my 72 Maverick in which I think was tan as I remember. Seems like the running light switch was located on the right side of the dash instead of the drivers side in which was kind of a split dash instead of the solid dash like most of the other Ford cars were. My Dad always used to say that the Mavericks were nothing but a Ford Falcon. Unfortunately most of the V8 Mavericks & Mercury Comets usually were totaled out because they would absolutely scream. I have never seen any of these cars with the manual transmission before - So I am quite curious to see this car drive again if at all possible. With all of the “Blue Ovals” that we had over the years, I can say that the 302s would usually start during really cold weather and were very reliable engines. No they weren’t the most powerful engines that Ford ever made - But you always seemed to get from point A to B and never have to worry.
Not to be a bother but I would really love to hear a scripture instead of a joke on your next intro of your video of whatever God decides to put on your heart
Ive been so busy I'm just now getting to see this one but I commented a while ago in another vid asking if that was a maverick hiding in the trees this is a exciting video to be watching finding out what the car truly is thanks for the content love the videos hope everyone in the family is doing well in these hard times God bless yall

No telling... The world is full of crazies.
You Guys are a great Team. Keep putting out videos.
Thanks Jim.
I really enjoy your videos & it's always a positive vibe.
We have a fun time making the content..
Reminds me of my 72' I used to have!! I miss that car!!
Sweet rides for sure..

Lol! I smiled the entire time and laughed a few times too!!
God luck to you and yer old man!
Thanks Nick
I actually kinda suprised she ran but with good solid effort and patience great things can happen, funniest vid of you both I've seen so far lol, that wind up power box was a hoot haha 😂
I was hopefully but somewhat doubtful that it would start... Excited when it did though.
God bless you and the old man great content.
Thanks Paul
Man this car brings back memories. We had one and I can still smell the vinyl interior and strawberry air freshener that my mom put in the car 😂
Fun times I am sure..
@@RevStoration yes sir!
She needs alot of work.... we are just honored that she started... Thanks for watching..
Awesome brother. Thanks for sharing... They are fun and they bring up the memories.
That is one awesome car hopefully see allot on this ride in the future!
Looking forward to a ride in the future..
