You in your best element. Hardly get tired of the revivals. I am always amazed at how you are a true natural and can stay entertaining for 2 hours while being almost always by yourself. I don't know how many takes you make or how the jokes and puns are planned, but it does feel like it is mostly spontaneous and that is what is great about you. You are genuine. That A/C being functional and cold is unbelievable ! Yeah the clutch went bye bye, but the fact that the polar gas didn't escape is impressive. That engine runs so well, I bet it would't take much to free some poneys out of it. Since the transmission is on it's last leg, would be cool to see that heart maybe go into one of the F100 you got. Maybe a father and son build ?
Also an Australian watching this. I see these cars and sometimes get to thinking ,where do we find such nice looking rigs over here. A lot of the old Aussie rigs just don't have the same charm

I have always been a GM guy, but that Lincoln impressed the hell out of me. With as little maintenance you did on this one and drove over 600 miles, wow, just wow. Another great video and I really liked this almost 2-hour video.
Did you Know, that there At one point of time there used to be a Lincoln Phonograph. It used a pump and suction cups to hold the Disk in place to play Side B or A of a Seventy - Eight RPM disk. I found this, out a few years ago when I think Derek had another video out of another Lincoln. In the YT search, was a random Lincoln Seventy-Eight RPm video. so, you may find that A bit interesting as well.

I come from and live in Czech rep., Europe. Old American cars are very exotic here and frankly, you have to be relatively rich to own one here. I will never own nor drive even an old rusty LTD, so your videos are incredible content for me just to watch and dream on. Thank you very much for all of them! I never miss a single one.
@@commodoresixfour7478 Well, let me put it this way: If I were to import one car from America to Czech republic, I´d rather pay up my mortgage :D There is a limited offer of already registered veteran cars and the prices aren´t that bad. They cost like an ordinary "used" car. That´s not bad as long as you don´t need spare parts. These are unavailabe here and have to be ordered from U.S. Importing an American car also presents ridiculous administrative hurdles. The rules here are beyond strict. Only the chosen ones can pass :D :D

I saw a few of your other videos. I got partnership in a gas station arriving home from Nam, did a ton of car mechanical work, one fellow left and I had 1 partner. I spoke with the parts store owner who was retiring with his wife back to Jamaica. Dad got me a loan to move to the store, inside, no cold, making much more money, and many customers from the station followed me to my auto parts store working on their cars on the weekend so I had a ton of customers in a little tiny town in Northern NJ. I loved working on cars with dad at home, my parts store and had a delivery truck out delivering to shops also. The garage in back hd room for a drum lathe, axel bearing press, and a nice disc brake lathe. I did a lot of brake, axel, and tune up work using my own parts and customers loved my quality parts & work. Car dealership liked me as well and the entire loan was paid off in ONE YEAR!!! Doing what you love will never be hard work, I always wanted to restore a car but thankfully I now have you to fulfil that desire. Thanks for the entertainment value on an otherwise boring Sunday.
Derek you never cease to amaze me and my wife with some of the recoveries that you find yourself involved in! You are the best McGyver we've ever seen! This Lincoln was a mess and so nasty to work with it's almost not worthy of your talent to get it running, but you drove it home! It actually cleaned up pretty good under all that dirt! Like you said the interior is good and the 302 engine runs pretty good maybe someone will need it. I just don't know!
Things my son and I have learned after watching Vice Grip Garage videos for several years: 1. Derek is good at fixing things. 2. Derek is nearly fearless when driving questionable vehicles long distances. 3. Every single one of Derek's friends is named Chad. Anyways, thanks as always for the content said son and I can enjoy together. God bless your family.
I'm blown away. That Lincoln did pretty darn good after sitting 20 years. Can't believe that transmission worked. Great job Lincoln. And great job Derek. Always look forward to your videos. Just the best stuff on RUclips.
I think it would be great to see a refreshment series on this. It would be interesting because you don't see ones like this get restored or refreshed. It would also be nice to see the issues get fixed and what it takes.
New to the channel.. Derek is so down to Earth funny and positive. Its fascinating to see these old abandoned vehicles repaired on site and driven. Doesn't seem possible..but he does it. I'm binge watching now👍 Kudos 😀

A very cool find. Brief history of the car. The Versailles was Lincoln's answer to the Cadillac Seville, which was a wildly popular "small" Cadillac. Lincoln used the Ford Granada as the car's base, and it showed. Customers saw right through the upgrade and sales were lackluster from the start, ending with only a few thousand production units by the end of its run. It has a lot of engineering improvements, such as available 4-wheel disc brakes (anti-lock in the rear), a 9-inch posi rear axle (Mustang guys pull them the second the cars hit a junk yard), and a not-so-great 2-bbl variable venturi carburetor. It's amazing the car ran all that way without a hitch, a testament to the engineering that, regrettably, wasn't matched by the stylists effort. Oh, and as part of the ad campaign, they photographed the Versailles on the floor of Windows on the World, the restaurant at the top of the World Trade Center. You can still find the ad if you Google it (or look on ebay).
My dad changed the venti carb and electronic ignition on mines to a four barrel Holley and old school points distributor. I remember vividly back in 1992 I was doing a tune up on it...had just replaced the set of points. The car was idling while I was washing my hands with the garden hose. I heard a "hiccup" and immediately went to adjust the distributor...with wet hands. ZAAAPPPP!!! 😂 My arm went dead for about ten minutes. I was hollering like a banshee and my dad was laughing his a** off. I miss having that car.
When you can produce content that gets an old car to run and drive it home that manages to get over 1 million views in 3 days your definitely an entertainer of the highest caliber. Kudo's Derek, another great production...
...it's pretty cool, and I like VG's attitude to getting it running, but then you spend $1000 getting all the worst stuff fixed, and you have a car worth $2000 that can break anytime....hmmmm

Derek has it all figured out … it’s amazing. Guy literally brings the basic stuff he may need to these car rescues. Wish he’d write a manual book for us out here in peanut gallery to follow
Well he does kinda in these videos, it’s just not written. Figures out spark, fuel and compression and goes from there in every run and drive video. Old cars are pretty simple.
I think I’ve commented on this video before but, my dad died a few years ago. He was a big car guy, and he loved Lincoln’s. Used to get the ol’ 70’s town cars and turn them into Derby cars. Always won or at least placed well. You definitely remind me a lot of him and your videos bring me a lot of comfort. Feels like I’m hanging out with my dad.
Hey Derrick, the 9 inch rear ends in those Lincolns fit perfectly under a 64-66 Mustang. Perfect for disc brake conversions. That's what i did with my 66
These cars are glorified Ford Granadas//Mercury Monarchs. They are the same chassis. You can see it in the body lines and the interior. Amazing and fun video,as usual. Great job, Derek. 👍🏻😊🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

What wonderful memories that brought back Derek. My dad had a 75 LTD station wagon. Big block, 4 barrel carb in it. Full tow package. Those cars don't drive down the road they float and next thing you know you're doing 125 down the freeway.
Watching you do these revivals and driving them home inspired me to not be scared to drive my old ratty GTO on power tour this year, and surprisingly it made the whole trip! And I got to meet you at a gas station on the route! It was awesome!

You have influenced a new generation of car enthusiasts and given inspiration to us seasoned car guys. These old cars are a hidden treasure and you have given value to so many that would have normally been scrapped. Keep up the great work!
What a great episode, You are amazing with you knowledge of all kinds of vehicles and you ability to get something that looks like junk not only running but driving hundreds of miles after sitting for decades. Your videos never get old, thanks Derrick for doing what you do best.
I love your revivals and this one was special! The poor girl needs to be loved again. I cannot get over how the roof lining and seats look. Fantastic! She also sounds sweet. Please save her 🙏 ❤😊. Greetings from Cape Town South Africa!🇿🇦 🇿🇦
Whenever I describe you to someone it's usually to the effect of "he's the most wholesome person in the world and if everyone had a father like him the world would be a MUCH better place"
These cars were produced when Ford Gm and Chrysler were finding ways to scale down their luxury line. Caddie made the Seville, from the Nova platform. Ford made these Lincoln from the Ford Granada line and Chrysler made their New Yorker on the Volare platform. All of these lower line platforms became personal luxury cars by using the same low-line running gear, but sprucing them up with great interiors and making all the power equipment formerly available in the big full-size luxury line now in these vastly reduced-in-size models. If you knew that under all that fancy interior and wheels it was still a Ford Granada. This was a brilliant example of what this brave mechanical genius who isn't afraid to take risks does for fabulous content on RUclips. This guy is something else. Another great video.
The Seville was constructed on the Nova's 'hard points' which cut down on tooling costs, but the Seville shared very little in common with the Nova. The Versailles was just a tarted-up Granada. My father owned a Granada and looking at the interior of this thing brought back some bad memories. Ford should have been ashamed for selling such a thing. The only car I would rate worse as an example of shameless marketing was the Cadillac Cimarron.
It is so cool watching you do these restorations. As a young girl I have fond memories going with my dad to car shows. He is no longer here but I still go to them if I can on occasion. I have respect and love for old things like cars thanks to my dad. Thank you for these charming videos. I find these to have a bonus of having an ASMR effect too 😅
Pro tip: if a feller removes the plug wires and sticks a shower cap over the distributor cap and another over the carbatater, a guy can really get in there with a pressure washer and clean the engine up without having to worry about moisture. Great for jobs like this. A quick shot of wd in the boots afterwards will displace any water that gets into them. Thanks for another awesome video Derek! 🤘
Another great revival. Out of all your content, these revivals are by far my favorite. I hope you can find someone to buy it and keep it going, it deserves some extra TLC. Thanks for the great video!

Thanks for the kind words and watching
My mechanic put those same Hankook Kinergy tires on my car (his choice) and they've been one of the best tires I've gotten for an everyday driver!
As others, many others have said - Derek, we appreciate everything you do for us, all your content, and your family. Australia loves VGG!
Also an Australian watching this. I see these cars and sometimes get to thinking ,where do we find such nice looking rigs over here. A lot of the old Aussie rigs just don't have the same charm
@@EsotericArctos Not to mention our parts stores carry much for old rigs.
Another Aussie here yeah we definitely can't just roll down to the auto shop for parts ....and if we can you have to have your mortgage paperwork with you to purchase it
@@EsotericArctos Most of the time the designers weren't given free reign.
@@goovoo1408 Yeah, the old cars are rare now. The scrappies came through about 20 years ago and crushed them all for the Chinese.
These two hours watching you rescue this car were priceless Derek, thank you so much!
Appreciate you!
Greatness comes from being able to do the same thing over and over without getting bored. Thank you so much for continuing to do the thing that I love about this channel. I think there is magic in saving these old beauties.

I spent 25 years in the car repair business, and worked with all levels of talent, but none as talented or charismatic as yourself. You are a freekin' inspiration. God bless you, and keep making the best videos of this genre... my hat is off to you, sir!.
Thank you sir!
Right on !!
These rescues are simply legendary. This Lincoln had a Cartier clock and did you see the interior roof light with map reading for the front seats! Such a great time capsule. And a great journey back to Rusty Acres. What a great road trip.
It was cool getting to meet you and see this old girl running. Never in a million years would i have thought i would see you doing one of these rescues. Keep up the awsome work.
Derek you’re a legend. As a much younger man I used to play with cars, brakes, carbs but never that successful and u are soo patient I watched a video by Ed China a uk show, and he dipped a Range Rover full of rust in a solution, not strong acid but cleared it all up Regards Rickie
Derek ? I thought it was Chevy Chase's new gig?
I wouldn't have drove that thing down a dirt road a mile and here Derek drives it 600 miles...
@@thethirdrail8397 Yes I did. I am an old fart and I remember that my grandparents had one in the den, and it worked and sounded lovely. For its time it was a beautiful machine that would put Japanese technology to shame. Damn shame that we don't make anything in America anymore. thanks to the unions and government overreach it is all made in other countries.

These are the vid's that keep this guy watching VGG. The Power Tour and Sick Week and all those events look like a ball. And being a Biker, I totally understand a "ride". But these "rescues" are definitely your bread and butter. And we learn quite a lot from them. Keep it up, Derek. You and DD Speed Shop are the only things I watch anymore.
Your channel inspired me to convince my dad to part with his 72 Chevy C10. It’s been parked for 27 years. I flew up to Montana and spent 3 days getting it running. Tried to film some of it, I can see the effort it takes to do these revivals. I had a blast and got to relive my childhood driving around in it some. Keep up the good work, love the channel.
Most positive guy I've ever seen. Addictive video and fun
How expensive is importing one? Finding a cheap old American car here is probably like you Finding a cheap Lada.
Man oh man did a guy just save my Friday.
No
Be here…. Every Friday!
Only thing better would be a junked out tractor.
Me too homie. Been a day
Me too had a crazy neighbor take me and wife to court. We were exonorated but stressful nun the less. It's always good to watch a vice grip video Derek has a very relaxing way about him if that makes sense
Love these "Mission Improbable" episodes. So awesome to see the old ones on the road again!
Thanks for sharing 🇨🇦
If you should see this car on the road next to you, pull off. This car is a death trap.
Thats not an old car. Old is pre 50s.
I love seeing you contend with these cars and you are a real nice feller and I hope to see many more. I just watched the rest of the Lincoln Versailles story and prayed you got er home. I now make language courses and am 76 having a great life. I have friends in Tennessee in Blue Buck Valley near route 100?? near Centreville, TN. Many years ago they gifted me with a bran new Learning BIBLE and I never forget that day. Carol & KP Tucker. I built them a great computer before I retired from the businesses in NJ and moved to Florida near the central gulf. So I have customers who buy from me yet in lovely Tennessee! Bless you heart young fella and thank you so much for sharing these videos as I know it is a lot of additional work besides what you do. Again thank you soooo much! Ray C. in FLorida Retired USAF Commander Pilot Flight Leader & Captain Private nobody now at peace and flying drones a lot doing pictures and videos and travel to China on vacays, LONG ONES, LOL... Thank you Derek! I really needed this revival today! My heart has been mighty heavy the last few days. A guy just lost his brother. :(
I'm sorry Jaybear. Hugs and prayers from Oklahoma.
Sorry to hear it it's tough I know
Sorry to hear it, Jay. Keep on keeping on, brother. 😢

Damn 22 years on the side of a dusty road in Iowa. It is insane to think about the life these cars had and then boom it ends up on RUclips thanks to Derek. Looks like it was probably a really sweet rig back in the day. I really like the interior in it.
It's a really comfortable rig, honestly
I like round part on the trunk in the shape of a spare tire. It's Claussay.
Derek,
You’re the man. An inspiration to the generations to come, love and respect what you do brochacho
Thanks for the kind words
Doing what you love will never be hard work, I always wanted to restore a car but thankfully I now have you to fulfil that desire. Thanks for the entertainment value on an otherwise boring Sunday.
This type of video never gets old to me, love it.
Thanks
THANK YOU A MILLON!!!! I have a 79 Lincoln and this video clarifies so many issues I have with mine. You’re a wizard!!
Derek wins the day, yet again ! Such determination, skill ,talent and inexhaustible patience.
Things my son and I have learned after watching Vice Grip Garage videos for several years:
1. Derek is good at fixing things.
2. Derek is nearly fearless when driving questionable vehicles long distances.
3. Every single one of Derek's friends is named Chad.
Anyways, thanks as always for the content said son and I can enjoy together. God bless your family.
One of them is Chad, not that Chad.... 😂
@@95BlitzsGarage Not that Chad the other Chad
Let's see, there's Chadster, Chadarino, Chadmeister, Chaaaaddd, and a few more I can't think of right now!😜😜😜
I'm blown away.

Yep! My parents had a ‘79 or ‘80 Granada and it looks just like it except for the Continental kit spare hump.
Is that the same variable Venturi carburetor that the police 351 had all the way up to 1991? I’ve never heard good things about that carburetor.
Nicely written
That one has a regular 2 barrel not the variable venturi
When you can produce content that gets an old car to run and drive it home that manages to get over 1 million views in 3 days your definitely an entertainer of the highest caliber. Kudo's Derek, another great production...
...it's pretty cool, and I like VG's attitude to getting it running, but then you spend $1000 getting all the worst stuff fixed, and you have a car worth $2000 that can break anytime....hmmmm
I love that Derek isn't brand loyal when it comes to reviving these old rigs. He'll save anything!
Derek you are truly the best mood improver there is! Your fine positive attitude to getting these forgot about classic rigs up and running is awesome 👌. Good soul family dude fhe the best VGG
One of these days Derek will say " I've got lots of time. I can spend 3-4 days getting this thing running". Nope.
Thank you for all the hard work and sacrifice you and your family put into the VGG channel. Best channel on RUclips in my opinion👍🏻
Absolutely a pleasure visiting and working with you Brent ! Missing you guys already. Thanks for a great stay at the Halfass Kustoms Compound!
We just protect this man at all costs!!!!!!!! Love You Derek!!!!!!!
Send him a respirator.
Hey Derrick, the 9 inch rear ends in those Lincolns fit perfectly under a 64-66 Mustang. Perfect for disc brake conversions. That's what i did with my 66
Awesome, thank you
Mate, I really enjoy watching your videos. Thanks heaps
I cannot tell a guy how much I look forward to a new revival video! Also great to have Roadworthy Rescues finally here in the UK on TV 🇬🇧
These cars are glorified Ford Granadas//Mercury Monarchs. They are the same chassis. You can see it in the body lines and the interior. Amazing and fun video,as usual. Great job, Derek. 👍🏻😊🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Derek, I just want to say I watch every one of your videos as soon as they pop up and sometimes I watch them with my kids. I get asked all the time when we are going to get us an old rig to work on together so I cant wait to find a rig to wrench on with them. Keep up the good work and thanks for the hours of entertainment you provide to all us sitting at home!

You are very fortunate to have such a great experience. Congratulations.

Whenever I describe you to someone it's usually to the effect of "he's the most wholesome person in the world and if everyone had a father like him the world would be a MUCH better place"
Word
Wow, thank you!
True, but Granadas didn't have the disc brake 9" rear (hot rod gold!) that the Versaille did.
Good day Scott. I am gary lam 60 years old.I love you're show .....keep it rockin
I love how a guy can wake early on a weekend morning and watch some VGG and Derek breathing new life into an old rig.❤
Your content is awesome. I love the drive it home videos. Thanks for sharing, keep having fun and entertaining us with all you do. God bless you, man!
Thanks 👍
I love watching these classics getting saved and back on the road 🙌
Another great revival. Out of all your content, these revivals are by far my favorite. I hope you can find someone to buy it and keep it going, it deserves some extra TLC. Thanks for the great video!
