      Yay! I was a but hesitant, because I thought people would think it is too early, but this is an Early Access for Members so that way we can prepare for holidays without stress. Also, Pam, I don't want You to think I have ignored your comment where you asked about sending fabric for Dress A Girl - I have just been so busy and honestly I can barely keep up with making my own dresses. I never want to come off ungrateful, I just don't think I can manage to put more on my plate right now. I hope you understand! Big hug!

      Absolutely, just checked - all there, it is titled "Christmas basket template", if your Google Drive is sorted in ABC order it should be second file. Thank you so much!

    I was thinking that these little baskets would be perfect to set small flowerpots in to make a Holiday display of plants. I wouldn't want the handles on them. Most of my pots don't match (this would take care of that). It would also allow me to use old yogurt tubs as flower pots to make beautiful gifts of my extra house plants. Thank you for helping me with my little house plant problem. 😃❤❤❤

    Oh, this is so sweet. I will make one bigger one and put in presents for the first Granddaughter that will be born at the end of December. I have got a new sewing machine, a Brother Inovis F420, and I took to it so fast. I never really took to my Bernette B38. I am glad you love your Bernette B38.

    I had a different idea for the lining, before you sew it into a basket, when you just have the4 legged shape cut a piece of lining fabric with a seam allowance and stitch it to the basket, then sew it up into the basket, that does mean the handle will need to be attached a it differently or left off for a handle less basket. but it would be a fun way to do it I think. These look super fun to make either way! Thank you

    For sewing the lining to the edge I would use a ladder stitch instead of the whip stitch so the thread isn't visible, or use a blanket stitch so it is a little more decorative.

    Hi Alisa, I really like this idea and it lends itself to so many different possibilities. You could use a different fabric scrap for each square to make it really colourful or even use a plain fabric where you have done a different (or the same) hand embroidery on each square. Thank you so much for sharing 🙏

    So cute! Can you line it flat before you sew together the shape?

    • @ThoughtfulCreativity
      @ThoughtfulCreativity  Год назад +1

      Good question! :) Hmmm...Possibly, but only if you do the lining the same way as the basket itself. You would need to do a sample and think it through and see how it plays out :) if you do - let me know :)

      This! If I did this project, I’d want to construct it flat, then try the 3-D assembly & add the handle somewhere during that process, probably by leaving a turning gap in one of the seams? Hmmm…🧐😂

  • @mischymischy8321
    @mischymischy8321 Год назад

    They are so cute!! I would like to try making one with the quilting method using the sewing machine, where you make the flat shape first, then add the bating and at the end, you make it in 3D. Would it be possible? Thank you for this idea!!

    fabric glue might work to hold for stitching

  • @kathkwilts

    You could line the basket by sewing and turning each square as a two sided unit before assembling…

    So cute! I'd love a whole episode on the mysteries of interfacing 😂. I live in Canada and I discovered that there are all different product names for interfacing than in the US, so when I want to make a bag or something from a US pattern I can't just go to the fabric store and ask for the product mentioned in the pattern. Are there standard weights or other measurements I can use to translate between Canada and the US? Thanks!

    • @ThoughtfulCreativity
      @ThoughtfulCreativity  Год назад +2

      Yes, the names for different interfacings are different in Europe, too, and so are the names for certain fabrics... it can get quite confusing. I would assume the fabric interfacing weight in Canada is measured in GSM vs oz/per sq yard in USA, sometimes I use Google for quick conversion if the website/store lists one and not the other. Unfortunately I am not familiar with the Canadian standard of interfacing labels, but this one used here is fusible fleece. As far as I know - there is just one kind available (probably the most popular) at local Jo-Ann's, however I am sure if I dig deeper I will find out that there is more. So sorry I cannot be of more help in this!
