When my dad was in the hospital, in a very small room, I made something similar to the clothespin bag on a hanger. I willed it with snacks, hand lotion, etc for my step mother to take and hang in his closet. She spent most of her days there so it came in handy.
I love these gifts. They are useful and scrappy. I just found you. Off to explore your other videos. Down To Earth simple chatter is what I love. Your video is like sitting in my neighbors living room type. Very welcoming..
Thanks you so much, love make tote bag and book cover. from Tasmania Australia. Thankyou putting on your blog as most us cannot afford the items pattern Thankyou🥰
So glad I found this! As an expat British person living is S Texas, I am surrounded by people who have no idea what a peg is or how to dry clothes outside! I made myself the peg bag this morning, I have been using an old plastic Folgers coffee tub to keep my pegs in. You have no idea how excited I am to use it! I’d love to make some for gifts, but no one I know would even understand what it is. 😢. Including my own daughter! 😂😂. Thank you!
I couldn't believe this when I read it, I asked my friend who used to live in Texas and she confirmed that in the US you aren't allowed to hang washing outside!
Hanging out clothing/wash usually is not allowed in HOAs. The rules are everybody should have an electric clothes dryer in the house. I live in NE Tx & i live in the country/back roads. But my road is a gravel road & its just not worth hanging my clothes outside to dry cuz of the road dust. And also i have many trees in my yard with lots of birds who may poop on the clean clothes.😳
I was gone for Christmas last year, my outside tree is up with lights on and now I’m looking for new Christmas craft ideas….gift shopping and sewing all done.
I can totally relate to good intentions and then nothing happens until the panic zone in December ! 😱🤭 Thank you so much for sharing this video 🙏 some lovely ideas, have subscribed and am now off to check out your other videos 🤩 very seasonal greetings to you and your family, best wishes from France
I want to do nightcaps. My great grandfather used to wear a nightcap to bed, sort of a triangular shaped, soft flannel, the long part would hang down the back. I got a pattern that has a small elastic section. I think this will not only be fun, but with the cost of heating and electric, it will be helpful, too. I have other ideas if I get really into it, like aprons, oven mitts, and the towels for the kitchen stove that loop over and button.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ I hope to do bowl covers, peg bag and bookmark! I usually start thinking about gift making in September because 3 of my boys have birthdays just before Christmas. Napkins and coasters are great too!. Thanks so much for all the great ideas! The spirit is SO willing but unfortunately the flesh can't keep up! I'll be grateful for what I get done :D
Just made my first dress after about 40 yrs! It’s huge but I love it! 😂 it’s supposed to be loose & roomy, but I think I might need to alter a wee bit…….thank you for the inspiration ❤
@SewHayleyJane we are going to make some bowl covers ,then a peg bag. My little boys just turned t and my little girl is almost 5,their fav things to make with fat quarters are shopping totes. X
I make deeper, bigger peg bags, but rename them depending on what I think they'll be good for, and made to hang on the door of wherever: Bra Bin Ordinary Every Day Undies Sorage Plastic Bag Drop Receipt Drop Make up Holder Nail varnish and Accessories Storeage Sock Sack Sewing Notions Bag Fruit and Veg Caddie Cable Caddie Tea Towel Bag Heard Trimmer and Bits Bag Pegs You get the drift...I can customise a peg bag for pretty much anything!!😆😆
How fantastic are your ideas! I just found you, love your personality and so immediately subscribed! I’ve just made some hair brush “holder bags”, with matching hair scrunchies for my daughters. Looking forward to all your up coming projects x
Thank you so much Hayley, these are all great suggestions for gifts. I’m going to make the floaty top, tea cosy and tote bag….for starters. Sending best wishes from sunny and hot Queensland, Australia 🥰🌺🌻🌸🌼💐🇦🇺😎
Great video thanks !!! 💖💖Started my Xmas gift making, so far done 1, cut out material for another (snorkel set drawstring bag)...got lots more to do, but this video has given me some fab ideas 😉
Love the bowl covers as I’m trying to use less Saran or clear plastic wrap. Just wondering if there are any tips for sewing with oil cloth? Thanks bunches for the ideas!!
They are such a great alternative. I haven't personally ever sewn with oil cloth so couldn't give any tips, I would imagine it might be useful to use a slightly more heavy duty needle though, like a denim. And I believe you could just use pinking scissors and not need to worry about hemming
Hi, glad you enjoyed it. The links to all the blogs and videos I talked about are in the video description box - you might have to click on "more" to expand it and see them all
Hello, I saw your video where you made Christmas gifts, including an spron for your sister. You sewed a label with a cute quote. Can you tell me where can.i get these ki d of labels?. Thank you so much
As an American, I had no idea what you meant by peg bag, lol. Despite the fact that my mom adores clotheslines and when she recently bought a condo in Florida, she was looking for one where she would be allowed have a clothesline on her patio. This is adorable and I definitely need to make one for her! Thank you! P.S. Do you hang your clothes out in the winter as well?
This has completely blown my mind that you aren’t allowed to dry washing outside in America! Hope your mum found a place to do so! If it’s a dry day in the winter I’ll put washing out, it won’t be warm enough to dry completely but it makes everything smell so good if they get a blast of fresh air. Not towels though - towels can go weird and crispy
@@SewHayleyJane many people can, some people do but it’s pretty rare, and many people can’t due to condo association/apartment rules/homeowner association rules. My mom was able to run a retractable line across her screened-in porch at her condo, so she’s a happy camper! It’s actually ideal, since in south Florida it rains so much.
USA. Wisconsin. Found you❤. Living in a heavily Amish area...yes they do line-dry all year! Me, no way! Began Christmas gift making in June! Still not early enough 😂 Happy sewing everyone! Wonderful holiday wishes!
A few people in the US have asked me this, in the UK we hang our laundry outside to dry (when the weather is nice) and use pegs to clip the clothes to the washing line. So the bag is to hold all the pegs in which you can hang on the line too
That's a great idea and probably fairly easy to add. This type of book cover is just one for putting inside a bigger bag to keep your book safe... not super necessary but adds a lovely cosy element to reading!
In UK, Australia, New Zealand and other countries, we hang our washing outside to dry on clothes lines, with pegs, or clothes pins as you might know them as. We have peg bags to hold the pegs, the clothes hanger hooks over the clothes line for easy access to the pegs. Very handy.

Not to early. I already put my tree out. I live alone no one to stop me 😊
Oh I love that, I'd probably do the same!!
Love this!
Your funny 😊
Me too!
I love you. Don’t live alone but putting out the tree! Thank you.
This is the first time I’ve seen your channel. I like it very much. Thank you for these suggestions.
In Puerto Rico, where I live,a lot of people start decorating for Christmas even before Thanksgiving 😂!
I’ve been listening to Christmas music for…almost 3 weeks.
I love the fact you dont stick to the same things, you are making things i have never seen before. So pleased i came across your channel xxx
Thank you so much, I'm really pleased!
I made 25 bucket hats for an advent swap box! I’ve been in Christmas sewing mode for a few months! It’s never too early. ❤

The book bag would be great as a sleeve for a kindle
Definitely! You'd make it exactly the same way but could change the measurements slightly for a nice snug fit

I think for wax fabric covers/wraps you only need to give them neat edges with pinking shears
I have an accent, but your accent is beautiful.
I loved this video!! I also love your top! Beautiful color and I love the sleeves. What pattern is it?
Thank you, it’s a Tilly and the Buttons Billie top

So in England, pegs are clothes pins to hang clothing on outdoor clothes lines?

I use my peg bag as panty hose storage. This way, the nylons do not get snagged on anything and are ready to go for the festive season if needed.
I love that idea!!!
