Miss Lori I'm 71 and a had oral cancer in2019 I have a feeding tube so any food I. eat had to be liquefied. I mix zucchini and. Yellow squash with garlic, onions red bell peppers, yellow and green and orange peppers with onions and a can of stewed Italian tomatoes, with oregano and Italian seasoned, then put it in hot cast iron bring to boil then simmer and let cook then add cream and blend into soup. I to freeze the squash because I have a hard time swallowing. But the good Lord has blessed me I'm still here. I love your channel. And if anyone as any recipes I might be able to try I would really appreciate it. I love your channel I can't always. Comment due to radiation I have many problems. You are a fantastic cook with a HUGE following of loyal subscribers. Don’t let the few snarky folks get to you. There’s always a few in every bunch that know best, do best, think best and don’t mind sharing. 😳 Yet they keep coming back. I always read the comments on my channels I watch and am absolutely shocked sometimes at the things people say. Can’t understand why anyone feels that entitled. I love your channel! It is my favorite as it is with so many. Just keep being you and please know that you have thousands of us who enjoy very video y’all make. I do enjoy watching you and your husband as the two of you go through your day. But to take the time out of the two of your day and share as the two of you do, is a blessing for soooooo, many of us. You may say that you are sharing which you are. But in reality the two of you are teaching as well. Teaching the younger people away of life that is said to be long gone. But it is wonderful people like yourselves who are making sure that the old ways are with us all, always. Gardening, cooking, canning, hurting, fishing, raising animals for meat and pork. The importance of God in our daily lives. It is because of you Miss Brown And Mister Brown people are beginning to see that there are better ways to live. Ways that allow us To be able to take care of ourselves, rather than looking to others to bail us out. Like the government and their programs. So that when or if hard times do come, maybe they want be as bad or as hard, thank you and Mister Brown and others like you who were willing to give of themselves and their time to share and teach, this has allow others to see that we all are able to take better care of ourselves, with the help of God and people like yourselves there are better ways of living. Thank you soooooo very much for your time. And for all that the two of you have given to soooooo many of us out here in the land of the internet. God Bless You Both as well as your children and grandchildren.

What a blessing today was. I met a farmer who sold me some fresh veggies for next to nothing and it turned into a meal and then I had a lot left over. Maybe 2 or 3 more meals. And then after looking for info on the white squash I got I found this great recipe and this blessing of a woman. She reminds me of my grandmother, gran, and just the idea of cooking with concepts and not so much specifics of a detailed recipe. It's how I remembered from my childhood. Me Lori, I use whatever's at hand to fry squash or any other veggies - AP flour, SR flour, cornmeal, SR cornmeal, cracker crumbs, any combo of these. If I don't have buttermilk, I'll beat an egg in some milk. We use the handle end of a wooden spoon stuck strait down in the fat to check the heat. If it's hot enough, bubbles will form around the spoon handle. Can't wait til our squash comes on! Yours looks sooo good!!

Miss Lori we are from NC and my grandmother made squash like you. Unfortunately my mother and the aunties went the sliced thin as paper route. So happy you posted this one. Can't wait to fry up a batch.

Oh yum! I love squash, but always sliced them too. I love your tips about the cornstarch or arrowroot. And I love the idea of cubing them over slicing them. Never used buttermilk either, but have learned as I age that buttermilk is great for lots of things. Now I will have to try squash this way! Thanks for the lesson Miss Lori. You sure are a great cook! Hugs and blessings, Brenda

I love squash. We used to make squash fritters, too... thinking on that, I would use some of the canned squash for fritters. So good.

Ours comes in usually mid-July. That's when we have our summertime fried supper. Fried squash and thinly sliced Spam fried crispy like bacon... yum!

I definitely want to see how you freeze squash. I’ve tried it and it seemed to just be mushy when I cooked it. Side note: my daughter and son-in-law live in Harrison (I’m in FL) and it’s so beautiful up there!

I always use cornmeal. My neighbor use to cut up squash..potatoes.. onions.. use cornmeal and garlic salt..pepper.... put in a bowl and add the cornmeal then fry in bacon grease. Shake off extra cornmeal before frying. This is sooooo good! I sometimes add cut up okra also.

Yes, Martha, us southerners love everything fried. I love it, but my favorite is just squash and onions sautéed slowly in butter with salt and pepper. That brings out a delicious, deep, unique flavor that just says summertime to me.

Love squash any way you cook them. I started cubing my green tomatoes up to deep fry, and they're so much better than sliced, they don't get grease doing them in cubes.
