    Addendum: I had a viewer make a great point regarding my “multiple” tip. I had suggested starting the foundation chain with a number that is both a multiple of 2 and 3. And she commented , “well why not just say multiple of 6?”
    You know what, she’s right! Much simpler 👍🏻
    Here is a row by row stitch tutorial where I've used some very common stitches that work well for a sampler blanket. Even if you don't want to follow along to this pattern exactly, I'm sure you can easily include these in your own design. xx

    Not many videos about mixing stitches and with yours I'm understanding more how important it is to do a initial calculation to make sure you start the row with a full stitch and finish the row with a full stitch, otherwise you end up with more or less stitches where to stitch into. You can fix it with an increase or decrease as you were saying, so is not too bad. I'm in the middle of making a blanket with different stitches and the count happens every row for me! These type of videos are so rare and so informative. Thank you so much for taking the time to make them!

      Yes , exactly , just keep repeating the sequence. For the border, I’d recommend adding sc’s all around the edge (use 3 or 5 in the corners to help get around it) then you can either leave it like that or build a bigger border on top of it . 💕

      Your multiple number for the starting chain can be divided by 2 and 3. For example, a starting chain of 72 would work. 72/2 = 36. 72/3= 24
      But really , you can use about any
      stitch you want and make it work. You’ll just have to “fudge” it a little. No one will notice if you’ve added an extra stitch here and there 👍🏻💕

    • @PlayHookywithMe
      @PlayHookywithMe  6 месяцев назад

      Find patterns that are are divisible by 2 and 3 … so in simpler terms you could say anything that can be worked using a multiple of 6 (since they are both divisible by 2 and 3)
      I would not worry about 2 or 3 at the end unless the first stitch you choose requires that to form the first stitch.
      Here is the companion video where I share how to make the stitches from this video:
      ruclips.net/video/5EjtcxfBJ90/видео.htmlsi=nmMQAwS731Beg6Pr
      Also don’t stress too much on that number (2-3). Choose the stitches you like and fudge things a little to make it work … no one but you will notice 👍🏻

    I’m a little confused about a multiple of 3+2, do you mean a multiple of 3 and 2 at the end?

    • @PlayHookywithMe
      @PlayHookywithMe  Год назад +1

      I mean that the number you choose is divisible by both the number 3 and the number 2.
      For example 12, 24 and so on. Or in simpler terms - a number that is a multiple of 6.
      But quite frankly, the more of this I’ve done , I’ve learned that I can usually make any multiple work but it will mean that I have to alter the stitch a little. Add some stitches or omit some stitches, for example.
      So use the multiple tip as a guide but I’d also recommend that you still try to adapt a stitch in your sampler if you absolutely love it and make it work . 🙂
      Hope that helps

    Can I make this blanket with 158 chains , is that a number multiple by 2 & 3?

      It looks like it’s not divisible by 3 so I would say no. Look for a number that is a multiple of 6 and you’ll be good to go. For example 150 would work .

    I have to do it! I must! I want! It is so incredible! I wil need to watch it several times before adventuring and making it though. I am a very slow learner. Thank you for this tutorial. Out of curiosity how did you hide all the strands at the end?

      I hope you do! 😀 I just weaved them in after each few rows .
      Here is a video where I share my techniques:

      But I’d also recommend you try making tassels If the ends overwhelm you. You can see that tip at the end of this video:
