Once you get the hang of this be warned, it's addictive!! I hope the steps and tips in this video inspire you to design a blanket of your own. If you have a stitch that you'd like to learn, be sure to leave a comment. xx
I don’t think I’ve had anyone ever explain the stitches as clearly and the edging when it goes wonky as you have. Thank you so very very much I’m 73 years old and I’ve been crocheting for a long long time but this has all been awesome I hope to see more of your tutorials and more blankets that you have made. I thank you so much and I will certainly pass your tutorial on.
I was referred from my friend to you. I am getting myself acquainted with crochet after 47 years. I haven’t crocheted since 10th grade and this fall I made a sampler scarf with the help from you wonderful people on RUclips. I saw a gorgeous sampler crocheted throw in the Sundance Catalog and I wanted to have. It was almost $800 and I thought I think I can make one myself. It seemed so hard to start because I didn’t have a pattern and wanting it to end up pretty even with the stitches on the ends. I was telling my friend and she sent me your link. I have been sitting here going through all your videos. You a very easy to follow and understand. Thank you so very much. I look forward to starting and seeing more videos!
Awe, please thank you friend for me, that’s very kind. I hope you find the help you’re looking for and I’m sure you can replicate the throw once you get back into the swing of it. If you have any questions, send them my way, I’ll be happy to help. I like to think of us as a big community just trying to help each other and have fun 🧶💕👏🏻
Hahaha oh, good! Yes, do it!! It’s very forgiving. Or I should say, let it be. You can really make any stitch you want work with a little give and take. No one will know where it’s off by a stitch here and there 🙂💕💕
I am going to try this, because you really do give all the helpful info. I have learned so much from your videos. You show us the "how," but you also explain things so that I understand the "why" as well. Thank you.
I really really love your version of sampler blanket shown in the video 😍😍😍 Could you PLEASEEE make a tutorial for it? Thank you so much for your tips!!! I wish you a great day 🥰
You must have been reading my mind. I was thinking the other day how I wish I could learn how to make a scrappy blanket of my own design. I always wondered where to start getting the different stitches to work out. Thanks you.
This video shows a neat way to use up some small amounts of yarn. Also, I remember my needle craft teacher making a sampler all in white but with lots of different stitches that really stood out when it was done. Keep up the good work.
Hi, your sampler is beautiful. I really like the way you've shown the different Stitches and how they can compliment each other. Thank you for sharing x
Good afternoon Roz . I love this project and I do have this book in my collection. Just like you I've made some blankets using several patterns exactly like your tutorial and they were beautiful . Thanks for sharing because it's always good to see hands on instructions . Have a great weekend .
Wonderful, Angela ! I’m glad to know someone who has done this before. Do you have any tips in case others are reading the comments? Did you find an easier way to come up with your initial chain?
Hello Roz what works for me is to choose a few patterns with the same amount of stitches try a sample first , see how it looks and then work on the project . This is also how I learned to crochet years ago by making sample swatches with every stitch and learning how to read & understand the patterns . Thanks for the question and have a great weekend.
I'm currently working on a stitch sampler blanket. I've had the hardest time finding stitch multiples online and I don't have a book on stitches. I would appreciate any tutorial or list of stitches that work!
@@LadyroachAlot yes, that’s going to take some research but don’t give up! I would focus on finding stitches that are a multiple of an even number. Don’t be afraid to “fudge” things a little to make the stitch work. I highly recommend you make a little swatch for yourself to practice different ones out. There are many videos that are online that share their multiples at the beginning of the video also. Pinterest is good too . Often you’ll find people have posted diagrams from books on there. 💕
This is exactly what I want to build a sweater from! I've never crocheted a sweater before. I want to do a very basic shape overall, but I want interesting colors and designs within the shapes. I don't have any pattern or guide for how to create a sweater for myself, so I would be winging it and just doing my best to make it fit. I figure a very simple sort of kimono style would be easiest. Would you have any advice for me? Am I crazy thinking I could fake my way through this as if I know what I'm doing?
You’re not crazy at all. If I were trying to do something like this I would probably start by finding something that has the shape I want and then taking measurements from it to get a general idea. I’d also find RUclips videos or free patterns on Pinterest /Google showing examples of construction to get an idea of shapes/pieces/joining techniques. Then use that as your framework to create yours. I have no doubt you can do it! 💕💕💕 just take your time and don’t get frustrated … it may take some trial and error before you get it the way you want 🧶💕
Thanks for the great tips, I liked the Stoutos Stuff rainbow Afghan, I would love to see a tutorial about this one, what is the 2 and 3 multiple ? I don’t understand it ?
I would recommend you Google the stoutos stuff rainbow afghan. I believe she is selling the pattern for that on Etsy. Multiple of 2 and 3: you want your initial chain count to be easily divisible by the number 2 and 3. E.g. 150 would work. 150 divided by 2 is 75. 150 divided by 3 Is 50. Or 300 etc (divided by 2= 150 and by 3 = 100) That way you’ll have more options when you’re looking for stitch patterns.
Qué bonito los contrastes de colores perfecto no hay ni un fallo muchas gracias desde España intentaré hacerlo pero hay que estar muy concentrado porque si se comete un fallo me parece que se estropea todo👌👏
Hi there, I'm so glad your guidance is here in these videos and I'm hoping you can help me with some ideas for a challenge I have at the moment. There's a jumper that someone I watch made recently in one of her videos, and I've been looking at the stitches that she used for different rows trying to work out what they are so I can replicate it and make one for myself. I've been crocheting for a couple of years now but can't seem to recognise all the stitches used and wondered if you have any tips on how to solve this mystery please? The jumper is just made up of panels which resemble a sampler blanket but just in a smaller version to make into a jumper, but unfortunately as there was no link available for the jumper I'm trying to think outside the box to work out how it was done. There was different stitches used each row, just like a sampler blanket, and there were four panels made, one for the front, then the back and then one for each sleeve. If you have any ideas on how I can find a way to work out what stitches were used I'd be enormously grateful! I think some of them look like ones in this swatch that you've made but would really like some help to work out the others so that I can make this jumper, so any suggestions or ideas at all would be really appreciated! Thanks 😊
If you don’t feel comfortable asking the maker of the video, then I’d recommend you get access to a stitch dictionary to compare with. The more you crochet , the more you will encounter different stitches and start recognizing what were used to make them. But that is what I would do - look for them in a book that has many, many examples. You’ll get close to the look you want if nothing else . Hope that helps 💕🧶
@@PlayHookywithMe Thanks so much for this suggestion, that's a really good idea to try and get hold of a stitch dictionary, if it has pictures to refer to that might just work! I had actually messaged the creator and many others had as well, but she isn't one to reply to comments so I haven't had a reply to help me there. We had all been hoping at least that she would see all of our comments and then might put a link in the description box, but that hasn't happened yet, so I was trying to think of an alternative way to work it out, but this is a really helpful suggestion, thanks! :) People often talk about trying to freestyle something and I do often change up a pattern quite a bit, getting inspired from things I see and altering it to suit my taste, but I'm not good at recognising the stitches that people use apart from the more obvious better known ones, so I'll keep looking at sampler stitch blanket videos as well and see if the two things together lead me to working it out! Thanks so much! I really appreciate your help and especially your reply :)

You know what? It’s not that hard I promise … just sneak an extra stitch in (or take one away) to help even out the row. no one will notice 😉 It’s a lot of fun and you could start with just 3- 5 different stitches . The different colors will make it look more complicated. ❤️🧶
