Day 10! In April 2021, I started crocheting and knitting, and self-taught myself different patterns and stitches! I thought I'd share with you all the crochet stitches I learned this past year. I'm NOT an expert so my technique is probably not the best but anyway, that's today's video ☺

You’re so smart for using a big hook and thick yarn to demonstrate! Especially with dark yarn, it’s so easy to see what you’re doing.

I am 66 years old and I have been crocheting for over 40 years. You did a great great job displaying how the stitches should be done. You have a great pace a great gauge. You are meant to do this. I wish you the best. One of my favorite stitches is the Afghan Stitch. I make my square then I crochet around it to make a larger square and I also embroidered a little flower in the middle of the Afghan Stitch that is optional. I also like the Stitch that is called a mile a minute. I crochet the strips then I put a border around them then I connect them to make an afghan. I've also used the Afghan Stitch to make a very small square folded sew it up to a certain point to make baby booties and I put a pom pom on them and to decorate it I put a baby safety pin on one side and a pacifier on the other and that's nice to decorate a baby shower gift

I've been crocheting, on and off, since I was 6 (I'm 71). I have done most of these stitches. But it was usually I did them from a pattern for 1 project. Then I couldn't remember how or where I put that pattern printout!
Having these in one video is so helpful!
I especially like how you demonstrate the beginning and ends. I always end up with some slightly shorter or slightly longer rows here and there. So I almost always end up doing a border around my work (scarves and blankets).
    Thank you

To avoid the large spaces on your chain 3 at the end for the turning stitch, for a dc, you could just chain 2 loosely OR
You could type into the search bar "modified turning stitch" OR
    "Improved beginning row double crochet"
When I came across these videos I found them very helpful. I even developed my own way that works pretty well where you begin to make a treble crochet and then you flip the script... I really don't know how to describe it because to tell the truth I'm not really sure I'm doing it the same way each time! lol!
Damn the bad luck that I have to stitch a couple of stitches in between so that I can get the opportunity to do it again! I'm going to have to end up making my sample three stitches wide, so that I only have to endure stitching one regular stitching between.

Krys. I just have to give it to you. I've been into crocheting for only God knows how long & all I knew was the double crochet.
It was only this year that I started watching utube that I learnt a few more.
10yrs ago I thought to myself “there has to be more to this crochet, so I made a skirt and waistcoat for my then 13yr old & another for my three year old all full of plain double crochets.
I now wonder at what I've missed ☺️

I like most of your stitches. I learned to crochet when I was 7, but I never got past granny stitches 😂. I love the dense stretchy ones, but I have found that if you go smaller hook can eliminate the yucky dreaded holes double and triple crochet can get. You can adjust your hook slightly up or down to your taste. I’m glad you are sharing what you learned because you are doing a good job!
