Flash forward to Aug 2024 and this camera is a best seller just as I said it would be. It's a mirrorless Rebel T100, one of Canon's best selling cameras of all time. People who worship specs and watch these videos have no idea about business. The average consumer wants one thing....cheap. Was a no brainer this would be a big seller.
Another great video. This is currently on sale here in the US for $599 US with a bag, card and two lenses. It's a pretty decent deal, but based on the review videos I've seen, I think I'll pass.
Canon as usual, trying to get the lowest price to get amateurs in a supermarket to pick up their first camera. No features at all but it's okay, some people will still buy it. No affordable or 3rd party lenses either, but their clientele won't get anything beyond the kit lens most of the time anyway. Even if in that case, a smartphone often would be better...
Canon could've gained a cult following if they fearlessly take out the screen and put a joystick in there, something like a cheap Fuji Xpro3, it still wouldn't be widely accepted but way more insteresting than this.
That camera might be aimed at parents who wanted to buy the first camera for their child Especially when the parents do not allow their child to use smartphones
How tf do you move your focus point if there's no joystick or touch screen? You just pray to the autofocus gods that what you want to be in focus will be magically selected? yikes
What I hate the most about this camera is the screen is NOT center. Its not a touch screen which is dumb already but its also not centered. This is the biggest piece of junk I have ever seen Canon release and I have been a Canon shooter for 20+ years now.
This camera is just about perfect for being in a fanny pack while on vacation. It's better than your smart phone (mostly) and in capable hands it will get the job done. It gets you into the RF system and the price isn't too bad. It's not *MY* first choice but I'm not a tourist on vacation at Disneyland. It has a very "my first camera" feel to it. But that's okay. That's what cameras like this are for.
@el_fucko I'm biased against touch screens. I have huge hands and the buttons are tiny. This is an okay camera, not a total miss but not a hit either. It's a T7 with an RF mount and eye detect autofocus. But the AF is the only reason to get this rather than a used T7i other than it's RF mount.
"this is not a biased review"..."I wouldn't say it's a bad camera" It's literally the worst camera in its class. You are clearly biased. They wouldn't send you a camera if they thought you'd make a negative review. You should pay to hire your own equipment and refuse whatever manufacturers send you, and then start making unbiased reviews. It's impossible to take your opinions seriously anymore
"So it’s certainly not a BAD camera - it’s just a few years out of date, and is dominated by the shadow of the R50." I 100% stand by that. It's an out of date camera but it's still fun to use if you're stuck with it - if you'd used one, you'd know.
@@JaySilva88 There are 3 lenses designed for RF APS-C and all three are slow zooms. If you're looking at expensive FF lenses, then you should have the money for a FF sensor camera. Canon RF APS-C is simply the stupidist camera body anyone could choose right now.
2023 and it has no flip screen or external mic input. Who exactly are they aiming this at? For sure not young people being weaned off iPhones. Older vacationers looking to lighten their carry on bag? Maybe. Then there's the S.O.P. Canon menu nightmare. Buy a used M50.
A little piece of cr*p from Canon. They only needed to leave the touchscreen, and it wouldn't have been a full miss. But they wanted hard to make a 4000D wannabe. Basically something that people can be deceived into buying, at a Best Buy or other similar physical stores. An M50 mk II, with slighly upgraded autofocus, but with no touchscreen and with a fixed screen. If you're ok without the little cr*ppy .59x magnification EVF, the Sony ZV-E10 crushes this in all ways except for subject detection for birds, and people's backs. The ZV-E10 is better in IQ and AF in low light, than the Canon R50 anyway... Regarding the controlability, even the R50, outside of its touchscreen, is very low controlability and configurability. The Canon R10 is the lowest-specced, but very decent camera in controlability, from Canon.
M200 is superior, it has a working auto white balance and not the one that produces orange on artificial light. But there is no future in M-series. You essentially are just stuck with the kit lens and then it would be better to get a PowerShot.

Yes, it's a wonder how anyone was able to make photographs at all without a touch screen
if only it cost +/- 600dollars ...however,a camera is THE camera! The only advantage over smartphones is you can use different lenses on it.
Another great video. This is currently on sale here in the US for $599 US with a bag, card and two lenses. It's a pretty decent deal, but based on the review videos I've seen, I think I'll pass.
great review thank alot for it
Canon as usual, trying to get the lowest price to get amateurs in a supermarket to pick up their first camera. No features at all but it's okay, some people will still buy it. No affordable or 3rd party lenses either, but their clientele won't get anything beyond the kit lens most of the time anyway. Even if in that case, a smartphone often would be better...
Especially since smartphone's AI are getting better and better
Testing an r100 with a 100-300 lens 😂😂???
I have a m6ii with digic 8 processor... it's AF is great hahha
Canon could've gained a cult following if they fearlessly take out the screen and put a joystick in there, something like a cheap Fuji Xpro3, it still wouldn't be widely accepted but way more insteresting than this.
R100? Is there any logic to canons numerical designations? 😆
The smaller the number the better the camera. It has always been so. M100 was the cheapest M-series camera.
The bigger the number the more features that have been stripped out. For example the Canon 3000D with no diopter adjustment😂
Ah the Canon cripple hammer in overdrive.
Yeah, like the Canon 3000D with no diopter adjustment.
It's supposed to be cheap and it is. Its also a best seller
fixed screen = less shit to break
That camera might be aimed at parents who wanted to buy the first camera for their child
Especially when the parents do not allow their child to use smartphones
They can just buy an eos M instead this toy camera.
How tf do you move your focus point if there's no joystick or touch screen? You just pray to the autofocus gods that what you want to be in focus will be magically selected? yikes
You can probably move it with the rear d-pad dial thing, like most cameras without a joystick.
Ever heard of focus lock
This potato gets spanked by the Panasonic G100.
5:02 the childs backpack has more detail in the jpeg.
This looks like the A6000... I mean, it is good but better get the A6000 itself...
What I hate the most about this camera is the screen is NOT center. Its not a touch screen which is dumb already but its also not centered.
This is the biggest piece of junk I have ever seen Canon release and I have been a Canon shooter for 20+ years now.
I'd rather have a 5dii. Who uses a touch screen anyways
I have the 5dii it does not have a touch screen lol but it is a good camera
This camera is just about perfect for being in a fanny pack while on vacation. It's better than your smart phone (mostly) and in capable hands it will get the job done. It gets you into the RF system and the price isn't too bad. It's not *MY* first choice but I'm not a tourist on vacation at Disneyland. It has a very "my first camera" feel to it. But that's okay. That's what cameras like this are for.
See, I could be talked into agreeing with this, but making an entry-level camera without a touchscreen is just completely harebrained.
@@RiceCake-ep9gu T7. The i version had a flip screen.
@@el_fuckomaybe aimed at more conservative parents, who banned their kids from using smartphones
That looks like a toy😂
It's too small, I cant hold that crap.
Must be made for trans kids and women, The new generation
This is worse than the 1200D I bought in 2015 ☠️
so mini
People disliking the video because they don't like the camera 💀
bourgeoise, camera reviewers piss me off, spend a bit more for the R50. its twice the price!
Basically a stripped down EOS R....
Jackson Brenda Perez Jessica Thomas Lisa
Refurbished is going for $230 on canons site today
in conclusion, just get an m50.
Kind of pointless camera, from my perspective at least...
Maybe that camera is aimed at parents who want to buy the first camera for their child
I have it its fun and better than the t100 by far
It's a cute camera, but not much better than a phone. I'd say to anyone considering this to go straight to R50 or you'll be disappointed!
Get the R50 just to disappointed in the lack of lens options.
@@josh6499 there's plenty of RF glass, although expensive. You can always adapt good second hand EF glass and save thousands.
@@JaySilva88 There are 3 lenses designed for RF APS-C and all three are slow zooms. If you're looking at expensive FF lenses, then you should have the money for a FF sensor camera. Why would you want adapted lenses with poor AF performance and outdated lens designs when there are awesome APS-C and even M4/3 systems with fully fleshed out native lens lineups available?
Canon RF APS-C is simply the stupidist camera body anyone could choose right now.
who would buy this? so glad i switched to fuji
Maybe parents who want to buy the first camera for their child
The Canon R10 is the lowest-specced, but very decent camera in controlability, from Canon.
canon m100 is unbeatable in portable aps-c
Canon m6II would like a word
M100 is very very good, yes
M200 is superior, it has a working auto white balance and not the one that produces orange on artificial light. But there is no future in M-series. You essentially are just stuck with the kit lens and then it would be better to get a PowerShot.
@@okaro6595 There are lots of lenses for the M mount
Horrible Camera ://
Just incredibly hobbled
This camera is a waste of production time and materials. Feature set is from the 90ies? Ugly.
It's one of the top selling cameras right now lol. Spec nerds who watch these videos dont get business at all.
