This camera has done me proud shooting high profile bands. Yes it has it’s limitations. But you can get some excellent results if you know how to get the best out of it.
Thank you for this review, I have just purchased this camera and finding my way around it. I just want sharp pictures, I don't need all the bells and whistles and I do not have a lot of money, so this camera seems to be ok.
Still disappointed Canon is abandoning the ef-m system. I love my pair of m50 cameras. I grab them just as much as my 90D. I will use them until they stop working lol
You can get m50 for almost same price. Ef-m would be cheaper as people are migrating and I'm quite sure that rf crop lenses are pretty much ef-m lenses using rf mount
Yes, maybe even cheaper. There are some good EF-M lenses available. The ones from Sigma I highly recommend and for video it is much better as well. The thing is that if you want to upgrade to a full frame camera that you will need to get other lenses as well. With just one mount you can use all the lenses (even with a crop). So its a eco system thing.
I currently have a Lumix GH3 and I only do photos. I am currently looking for a new but cheap camera because my GH3 has bad autofocus where it is horrible for portraits since it always missed the person (it release back in 2012 lol), low-light is horrible at iso 1000 already a lot of noise, but it has a fully articulatung touchscreen tho. Would getting the r100 be an upgrade or should I just save for a better one? Thanks!
Not having touchscreen and a fixed screen would be a dealbreaker for me. Plus, the lens selection is rather limited, at the moment. I'd rather suggest getting a SL2 or3/250. Or get a M4/3. These can be found used at a good price. There are more bells/whistles, many have flip out/up, touch screens and larger lens selections. Just my thoughts.
No way! Thats an old dying camera body with old tech. For $300 u can enter mirrorless market made in Japan with $700 in tech alone!!! There's a reason this camera is the best selling in Canons line up. For Video why get R50 or R10 when you can use your iPhone Max Pro or a Sony A7IV. People are buying this camera for the beautiful photos it produces. Also if you want good video the next price point is the R5 and price difference is High! R50, R10 and RP would be waste of money if you want Video.
I want to start photography, I'm looking for my first camera and I would like to photograph landscapes and the moon, which camera would you advise me to buy and start this journey, the R50 or the R10 or something else 😂? thanks
Basically the R50 and R10 are the same. So choose the one you simply like based on price and looks. The R10 can do 4K 60p but not sure if you want to do video. Both are capable but you do need good lenses for your needs

Hey I’m debating between this or the lumix g95 as a gift for my son’s bday. It will be his first camera. Which would you recommend or do you have any other options?
Hi Gary, Jeff here. I am a complete novice to photography. I am considering purchasing this camera for a cruise to Alaska. Would this camera be good for pictures of the mountains, glaciers, etc. from on board the ship? And, is there a way to transfer the pictures directly from the camera to my pc? Thanks for your time and advice.
Hi Jeff, thanks for reaching out 😊! Yes this camera in good lighting conditions will create some nice pictures. So no worries in that regard. The key is to have some good composition and lighting. If I was in your shoes I’d just shoot everything in auto mode and let the camera do the processing. You can plug in a USB cable (that comes with the camera) directly in to your computer. Then you can simply extract the files that way. You can also do it wireless to your phone if needed. Hope this helps and enjoy the cruise! 🚢
@@GaryJahman Hey Gary, thanks for your very prompt reply. My cruise is at the end of August, so I thought I would buy the camera now and get familiar with it. Hi Gary. Just wanted to let you know that I ordered the camera based on your recommendation. As you very well know, some of the lenses for the camera are very, very expensive...more than the camera itself. If I was going to purchase just one additional lens for the camera outside of the standard 18-45 mm that the camera comes with, which should I consider? I mainly take pictures of my cats, an occasional selfie, and scenic pics when I'm on a cruise. Again, thanks for your time and advice.
