i just started the Udemy photography class and also picked myself up a R100, but after getting started in that class and listening to your tips on how to use this specific device, it really puts a lot of things in persepective from the lesson. I like how you've really simplified the information, so that if you're new to this, like i am, it is still easy to understand, follow along, and take notes. Amazing video.
Thanks for this very useful and informative video. I just recently purchased the R100 for $400 complete with the kit lens. So far so good. I enjoy using this camera. And very satisfied with the quality of the stills and 1080 video. just by way of an fyi; the "creative filters" can be used without ruining your photo. just shoot a regular photo first, then apply a creative filter to that photo. the R100 will save the original photo and assign a new jpeg number to the filtered photo. Thus you end up with two photos; the original and the filtered. The filter I like best is the "water color painting" effect. The others, not so much. In fact, I was so pleased with the "water color" that I took a picture of my house, then applied the filter, then printed a paper copy of it. I framed the paper print and hung it on a wall in my house. It looks remarkably like an artist painted water color picture! Through some trial and error I've discovered that the "water color effect" works very well when shooting structures outdoors in sunlight. However, results are not so pleasing when shooting people indoors or outdoors. So the effect has its limitations. But a nice little bonus feature for use under the right conditions, IMO.
Thanks for this video. I am just learning about photography as a my passion. I just bought month ago Canon EOS R100 and took some notes from ur video. :)
OK, I lied in my last comment on your vid (one of them), I said I'd never go into r series, I broke down and got a canon refurb r100 body. Neat little camera. But to this vid, great intro but useless for operating the r100. As an example; how to I set up the apertures for the shots? How do I adjust the shutter speeds on the r100, that info is missing. Which menu do I use. What knobs or dials on the body do I use. How can I use the r100 with my ef/ef-s lenses, and so on. Otherwise a very nice review of the triangle. You do great vids without those intrusive buy ads in the vid. Putting them below sets you apart as a class act, so thank you.
Yes it's the sigma 18-35 & I use it with the meike ND adapter. Although it's rather big on the R100 so you could opt for the Canon 35mm RF lens instead which wouldn't need an adapter.
Canon and r100 take the same quality shots of an r50. Does the camera matter or is it the lense? I'm buying an entry level camera first for my daughters but I don't wanna cripple her by getting something too limited. Help please 🙏
I'm going over your vid again. First, how do I set the shutter speed on the r100? All questions are for r100. I know the theoretical concepts of the big three. But what buttons, dial, menu etc on the r100 do I use to make those settings. For instance I need to know how to measure light coming into sensor, how do I set the iso? the f-stop setting, the shutter speed, what must I know about the operation of the camera, mechanical or electronic, to achieve those settings. Your explanations of what a camera does. With my Mamiya C3 in days past I knew all those settings for great shots. But with the r100, I'm lost. Please do vid with actual how-to set up all those parameters necessary to take a good shot. Please. You do great vids, that's why I ask you for that.
Hello. This might help: Press the shutter button halfway and check the exposure level indicator. Press the key to select the shutter speed or aperture value, then turn the. dial to set a value.
@@FulaanCreative my canon battery suddenly stopped working and I got a message about overheating and powering camera off. Nothing was hot or warm. Is it ok to buy a non canon brand replacement?
Thank you for sharing this, i´m a beginner so this was very helpfull. I took notes. Is is possible for you to show how to take nice portrait photos with a canon eos r100? A step by step video of what the settings should be? Thank you once again for sharing this video :)
Thanks! I'm glad it was helpful. There's not one set of setting that would fit every scenario. Depends on the lighting, weather you want shallow depth of field or not, is it hand held or on a tripod etc...

thank you sir.
You are very welcome.
Very clear, no fluff explanation thank you

Can you move the mode dial either direction or does it have to be one way only ?
At 10:11 is that the 35mm lens you have in description ? Are you using an adapter with it?

It's limited in that it doesn't have a flippy screen and the video isn't to the level of the r50 but in terms of individual photos it's great.

No, the camera you see in the video is the Canon R10, the operation is similar however.
