    You and your husband are certainly not afraid of hard work! Who ever y’all work for is a lucky employer! It’s almost impossible to find people who will actually work these days. I bet you are both great employees. I love every project video you do. You are so through with your research and you are liberal with your praise for each other during the project. I bet your kids love the playhouse project. I would love to redo one of those for my two year old great granddaughter and my four year old great grandson. I bet they would play with it for years. Great patio project. I love the home you two are making together.

  • @krickette5569
    @krickette5569 4 года назад +29

    Looks great! Just one tiny caution. When you get a heavy or sustained rainfall, keep an eye on the area where the pavers meet the house. Depending on how far you all dug down to place the pavers it may have damaged the grade that the builder put on the yard area to make sure that rainfall moves away from the foundation walls.

    • @Samanosuke817
      @Samanosuke817 3 года назад +9

      @@cluisap what Krickette is saying is you want those brick pieces on the ground (pavers) and especially the dirt ground that they are resting on to be slanted/sloped away from your house. You want water to move away from your foundation instead of water pooling near it.

    The fabric that used isn't technically for patios, they make one specifically for that, though it can be costlier. However, if you use the staples on any fabric it will stay in place. Also, there is a paver base if there is enough depth and leveling needed that you put down before the sand. It helps stabilize everything to create less work on leveling. For those wondering about sealing the cracks or preventing movement, there is polymeric sand you can put between the blocks.

  • @lemonielala3080
    @lemonielala3080 3 года назад +6

    For preventing weeds in a way that is much easier than the fabric: you can just brush a mixture of sand and cement in between the pavers and watering everything afterwards which seals it up preventing weeds. If you live in a super cold climate where that will just crack from the ground freezing there is a special flexible mix (pretty sure Romex is one) that works in stead. 👍

    • @MyBiPolarBearMax
      @MyBiPolarBearMax Год назад

      Look up “polymeric sand” is what its usually called.
      Best way to connect everything and prevent any weeds from being able to break through. If you use it properly it adheres everything all the way through and is great

    I don’t mean to sound like I’m telling you how to edit or film, but maybe a couple of minutes showing the tamping of the dirt, a couple of sanding, and a couple of the staining the 2x4’s instead of 5 minutes on you staining ... that was a little redundant, whereas the others interspersed would have at least been a change.
    Also, suggestion on spray painting ..l break down a cardboard box to put behind the item you’re spraying to avoid too much over spray ... it helps prevent wind from grabbing your paint, and it will be better on the environment.

    I'm curious about those vents at the base of your house. It seems like the rocks were there for rain drainage, and maybe keeping 6 inches or so for drainage, would have been a good idea. I don't know if those vents access the underneath of your house or not. The size increase of the patio is great though. Good job.

    Obviously your video is a couple years old but it came through my feed because I have been watching diy videos for my small apartment patio. I’m a empty nester now and I’m done pretty much with decorating on a big scale most of my work life, my kids are also grown and have their own places independently. They are in your generation. I’m inspired mainly by your benches and how you did them. Im definitely considering them because of the ease in the accessibility of materials. The black blocks plus the contrast light and unpainted wood has a stunning modern effect, not even farm house themed. It can crossover modern eclectic. I love your bar area too. has given me some great ideas. Strict budget is music to my ears always. Youre both doing great jobs. The Asian in me is trained from childhood to do the financial accounting always before doing a project. Just our culture because where we come from poverty is a fact of life. Coming to the US and living great life does not make us forget that easily.
