i liked it a whole lot
Yall did a great job
I love how you and your husband work together as a team.
Thanks 🤗 I’m so lucky to have him!
Y’all are precious! I love how you value your home and want to make it the very best at the same time spending your money wisely! So smart for a young couple! I love watching y’all!
I agree with u..
Yesss!!!!❤️it!!!!!
I love the fact that you did a mistake... then you acknowledge you did the mistake... and you advise us viewers what you think of the mistake... and you reassure that we are humans and it is normal to make mistake. Thank you for your honesty. Good job and do enjoy your patio!
Everyone makes mistakes! It’s just a part of life 💜
You did a great job! For anyone planning on doing a similar project, I might suggest a power wash on the old pavers to clean them up first so they better match the new ones. 👍
Or make a pattern with old and new, so it looks like it meant to be !
Or paint the whole patio one color...
Thank you for being real! I"ve done a lot of paver patios and walkways and you are so right...they are a lot of work but so rewarding when finished. Kudos to you both! It looks terrific!
Thank you so much!
I'm always amazed at what people can do with a tight budget but a lot of hard work and elbow grease! What a transformation! So inspiring to get out and see what kind of makeover you can achieve with not much more than what you already have. Thanks for sharing!
It definitely is a ton of hard work but always so worth it in the end! 🤗
This is pretty, economical and functional! The kids’ seating is too cute.Home ownership is hard work but we’re always so much more proud of the things that we did by hand🥰
I agree! Such hard work but totally worth it 🤗
I ABSOLUTELY love how You and Your Husband transformed your patio. Great teamwork! You gave me some GREAT ideas... Especially the Outdoor Bar!! Love It!! Thank You
Thanks so much! We love the outdoor bar! 10/10 would recommend! It was a pretty easy DIY
I love that you talked about the reality of how long this took instead of trying to make it sound so easy! We just finished building our above ground planter box for one of our next videos and it was a lot more time consuming than we had anticipated. But totally worth it with how it turned out.
Yes these projects always take longer than I initially anticipate 😂
Omg, Megan the patio came out beautiful. You inspire so many with your can do attitude. Your channel inspires people to be creative and that they can also have a beautiful home, without breaking the bank. Thank you for another inspiring video. Have a Great weekend.
You are too sweet 💜💜 I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Lol, I was just telling my bf how these DIYers on RUclips make it look so easy!! Now we are in the middle of a bedroom redo. Its taking forever!!
RUclips videos will have you believing you can build a whole house from the ground up in 3 hours 😂
I love this we installed a pool 2 years ago and our back yard was awful. This makes me so excited and gives me a lot of ideas. Thank you!
You and your husband are certainly not afraid of hard work! Who ever y’all work for is a lucky employer! It’s almost impossible to find people who will actually work these days. I bet you are both great employees. I love every project video you do. You are so through with your research and you are liberal with your praise for each other during the project. I bet your kids love the playhouse project. I would love to redo one of those for my two year old great granddaughter and my four year old great grandson. I bet they would play with it for years. Great patio project. I love the home you two are making together.
The transformation of your patio is amazing, you are such a hardworking couple well done. ❤️
You are so sweet 🤗 thank you!
Girlllll it turned out soooo good! You’re right it does look like a lot of work but I bet the savings was worth it and I’m sure you’re loving it! ❤️
We do love it! Lol we would love it even more if it would stop raining so that we could sit out and enjoy it 🤣
Looks great! Just one tiny caution. When you get a heavy or sustained rainfall, keep an eye on the area where the pavers meet the house. Depending on how far you all dug down to place the pavers it may have damaged the grade that the builder put on the yard area to make sure that rainfall moves away from the foundation walls.
Can you explain more deep about you're talking??! It's very interesting and I would love to know more about it of something I don't know much! Thanks in advance 😊
@@cluisap what Krickette is saying is you want those brick pieces on the ground (pavers) and especially the dirt ground that they are resting on to be slanted/sloped away from your house. You want water to move away from your foundation instead of water pooling near it.
Omg I LOVE LOVE LOVE this! The cinder block benches and bar are GENOUS!
Thanks 🤗 I am loving them too!
I love them too! But question what did u use so the wood doesnt slide off? Im about to head to home depot
Everything is beautiful. It looks like your hubby is like mine, such a good helper and partner. 😊
Yes! Team work makes the dream work 🤗
You guys are real people..and I like that you are taking what you have and making the best! Life isnt about money...you guys are creating spaces that your whole family can enjoy for a long time!! I would love to see grocery hauls/what's for dinner/clean with me or a day in the life ..anything really!
Those kinds of videos don’t preform well on my channel so I’ll be sticking to cleaning, decluttering, organizing & decorating 💜 but if you want to follow me on IG I do share a lot of that type of content in my stories
Beautiful! Turned out so pretty, a lot of hard work, but I’m sure it was worth it, doing it together with someone you love and share the time together.Making memories.❤️👍👍👍😊😊
Yes! It was a ton of work but so so worth it in the end!
Hats off to you! It is a gorgeous outdoor space! I always marvel at the creativity and bravery that DIYers have in putting themselves out there while sharing their vision with those of us who can't or don't know how to do!
Thank you so much! I’ve only recently become a DIYer and it has been a lot of fun sharing that journey and inspiring other people to at least try 💜
Totally living vicariously through you with this since my backyard is almost non existent. It's sooo small lol but this seriously looks amazing! You guys did an awesome job!
You could totally create a nice space of your own even if it’s a smaller scale 🤗
I love how relatable you are. You’re so sweet and so amazing at everything you do. I love all of your videos. Blessings,
Xo
💜💜 you’re too sweet. Thank you
I just love D.I.Y home projects and for the record I am obsessed with spray paint 🤷🏽♀️ awesome job. Looks fab. 😎
I’ve become obsessed with spray paint too 😂
I love it the only thing I would have changed, since your cinder flooring
blocks are obviously different in color because of the weathering.. I would have used an old and a new all over to make it just easier on the eye and even look artsy
That would have been a fantastic idea!
Could always paint the old pavers a grey concrete paint to match too!
You can powerwash them as well and they'll return to their original color
I would have made some sort of pattern or border
Lol I was about to post the same thing, I calculated that they could’ve done an outer border with the new ones and have enough old ones to do a checker board effect... god bless COVID lockdown giving me time to work that out 😡!!!
Wow love the transformation. Love the bar area, its amazing what we can find and do on a budget, with either recycling what we have in our homes or sale items. I'm in the middle of doing my back garden at the moment, it's taking me a while to get everything right. Great video Megan. 😊👍
I love finding affordable solutions for things! Not all of us have an unlimited budget to spend, but we can still make our homes look nice without spending a ton!
Well done, I love it. It's so great to create things in our own home. I hope you and your family enjoy your hard work.
Thank you so much! We are absolutely loving this space!
It really is a simple makeover but the result is undeniably beautiful. I like the chair, it's not boring.
Thanks!
Hi, when you use the garden fabric, you secure it in place with pins that you can get at your local nursery. The fabric is wonderful to use.
Best wishes
We didn’t have any pins and we also don’t have a local nursery
Agree. Landscape “staples” are a must for the fabric. They sell them at big box stores, too. Usually right next to the fabric. I get mine in bulk from Amazon.
Megan I love everything that you do. I’m going to try the benches. Thanks for sharing
They are so easy to make 🤗 have fun with your project!
Omg I lovedddd this. I was feeling a bit down and out today and decided to watch some videos on things I love to help lift my spirits. Yours popped up first and I must say you and your beautiful spirit helped uplift me. You are so humble inspiring and candid during this video and I appreciate that so much. Thank you for being you and helping me today even if it wasn’t your intention. Love you sister! 🤗
I like the way you and your husband work as a teamwork. Your modern farmhouse looks gorgeous. Blessings from Puerto Rico
I am a DIY queen! I think you too did an amazing job. Yes you treated yourself to an expensive fridge. Better to spend on a good one, then having to replace it soon. God bless you for sharing. Stay Safe !
💜💜 you are so sweet! Thank you!
I love how everything turned out. We just did our patio on a small budget too. We wanted to do a bar but we don’t have a lot of money. So this cinder block bar is an amazing idea. Thank you so much for sharing it. 🥰🥰
We love the cinder black bar! So easy to make & super affordable!
She's authentic, admitting her mistakes. I am going to continue to follow. She's good. You go girl.
💜💜 thank you! I have another one coming up soon with a lot of mistakes 😅
How refreshing to have a YT'er tell it like it is. Thank you for being honest about this project. I'm subscribing!
Thank you for appreciating the honesty 💜
The fabric that used isn't technically for patios, they make one specifically for that, though it can be costlier. However, if you use the staples on any fabric it will stay in place. Also, there is a paver base if there is enough depth and leveling needed that you put down before the sand. It helps stabilize everything to create less work on leveling. For those wondering about sealing the cracks or preventing movement, there is polymeric sand you can put between the blocks.
Thank you
For preventing weeds in a way that is much easier than the fabric: you can just brush a mixture of sand and cement in between the pavers and watering everything afterwards which seals it up preventing weeds. If you live in a super cold climate where that will just crack from the ground freezing there is a special flexible mix (pretty sure Romex is one) that works in stead. 👍
Look up “polymeric sand” is what its usually called.
Best way to connect everything and prevent any weeds from being able to break through. If you use it properly it adheres everything all the way through and is great
I am loving this whole DIY series, I’m about to binge watch them all. I have been doing a ton of renovations in my home and next on my list is my yard so this one is so helpful. Thanks so much for sharing !
Yay! I’m glad that you’re loving them! I have a new little diy makeover series starting tomorrow!
Ahh yay!! I can’t wait to watch this! Your makeovers always turn out so incredible! 😍
😍😍 thank you! So do yours! 🤗
Everything turned out so amazing!! I totally looked into doing the pacer benches when we did our deck makeover, and even though we didn’t end up doing it on the deck, I think I’ll definitely do that when we make a fire pit area! Way to go on another incredible makeover!! Enjoy your new space 🙌🏼
They would be perfect around a fire pit! We absolutely love them!
You and your husband really did a great job. I love the way you too work together
Awesome job. Can't wait to see more of your videos 😍
Thank you so much! Team work makes the dream work 🤗
Thanks Megan! This was great, it turned out so cute. Especially loved the benches. Love & Hugs to you and your husband GREAT JOB💜
Thanks so much! The benches were super easy to make if you are wanting to try for yourself 💜
I don’t mean to sound like I’m telling you how to edit or film, but maybe a couple of minutes showing the tamping of the dirt, a couple of sanding, and a couple of the staining the 2x4’s instead of 5 minutes on you staining ... that was a little redundant, whereas the others interspersed would have at least been a change.
Also, suggestion on spray painting ..l break down a cardboard box to put behind the item you’re spraying to avoid too much over spray ... it helps prevent wind from grabbing your paint, and it will be better on the environment.
Collette Landwer AGREED!!!!!!!!
I felt the same!! I felt like i did miss out on a lot of your work!!! Watching u sand paint etc every single piece was actually more boring everytime u said including the other work footage wud be boring! Nonetheless, did not stop me from watching the end! Whether all ur hard work is on this video or not, it indeed was a lot of hard work and u guys pulled through!! Its amazing! Hoping u get to make great memories here with family and friends🖤 good day
But...
Well put, Collette.
Too much time spent watching some things and missed out on others
I'm came to the comments to see this exact comment! The video is great but I could have seen the stamping and leveling too. Even a few seconds would have been helpful.
If you’re still wanting to layer your rugs try the top one at an angle. Great job, lots of hard work on your part❤️
That’s a great idea! Thanks for the tip!
You could also use them to create separate "room" for seating areas.
I have seen other of your videos and have enjoyed them and appreciate your careful instructions/directions in each. Today I am a new subscriber and will follow many of your directions for a patio re-do. Thanks. Mobile, Alabama
Yay! Thanks so much for subscribing 🤗
How charming, super creative, , and practical! I wish your family many joyful hours on your “ new” patio! ❤️
Thank you so much 💜
I'm curious about those vents at the base of your house. It seems like the rocks were there for rain drainage, and maybe keeping 6 inches or so for drainage, would have been a good idea. I don't know if those vents access the underneath of your house or not. The size increase of the patio is great though. Good job.
Don’t worry about the vents lol
No worries with the vents. They are just that. They just allow air flow and are not for drainage
If it was me doing the patio I would've done it like chinese checkers board, with the new and old tiles (not sure if they are called tiles Idk the mane for them). But it looks amazing. And eventually will look all the same with the rain.
We didn’t think of that lol
Oh that’s so smart !!!
Looks fabulous!!! Beautiful space! LOVE LOVE LOVE the benches!!!
Thank you! We loved them too 🤗
It's super beautiful! Enjoy it!!! Love it 😍😍😍
I’m obsessed with that bar top table, that is such a clever idea!
I love it! It’s great for entertaining
I would have like to see how he did level ing and placing the pavers
I didn’t film it
You guys did amazing! I love it! Looks so cozy! Thank you for keeping it real and telling us how hard and how long it took. So important with DIY’s.
I agree! Sometimes these videos make it look like major transformations like this only take a few hours. I wish they did, but that hasn’t ever been my experience.
That was so relaxing and fun to watch!!! Co-Vid is so stressful and I don't want to watch any more news. I just watched your whole video start to finish and I have no intention of making patio. Beautiful job you two!!!
Just in case you didn't know, Home Depot has the "Opps" paint very in expensive. That's where I get mine for my ramp & patio.
How are the 2x4s holding up do you recommend gluing them down or did you just place them over? Do they shift around when sitting on them?
This is the same thing I wondered about. But I absolutely love how the benches turned out! 😍
I am wondering the same!!! When she was painting them, I thought she was going to put the boards inside the cinderblock holes LOL… I’m just wondering if they roll or turn when you sit on them?! Great job though!! Looks amazing👌
She stated that she used concreat adhesive to them to keep them down. I believe that's what I remember her saying.
Hush Honey ... concrete adhesive doesn’t always last too long. It might be a good idea to put a brace under the 4 boards on each end to make sure they stay attached.
It will. Doesn't hold it when you sit on . Need to glue it .
Yessss! I love the design, looks like hard work, but teamwork makes the dream work! Great job!!!♥️♥️♥️
Yesssss 🤗
I AGREE! The next time you use the cloth pick up the anchors that pin the cloth to the ground. They look like giant hair pins. The patio looks lovely! Great job.
Obviously your video is a couple years old but it came through my feed because I have been watching diy videos for my small apartment patio. I’m a empty nester now and I’m done pretty much with decorating on a big scale most of my work life, my kids are also grown and have their own places independently. They are in your generation. I’m inspired mainly by your benches and how you did them. Im definitely considering them because of the ease in the accessibility of materials. The black blocks plus the contrast light and unpainted wood has a stunning modern effect, not even farm house themed. It can crossover modern eclectic. I love your bar area too. has given me some great ideas. Strict budget is music to my ears always. Youre both doing great jobs. The Asian in me is trained from childhood to do the financial accounting always before doing a project. Just our culture because where we come from poverty is a fact of life. Coming to the US and living great life does not make us forget that easily.
Enjoyed this video much.
Definitely try out the benches! Be sure to secrete the wood to the blocks using concrete adhesive 😊
Maravilhosa ficou lindoo 👏👏👏👏👏👏♥️😘
💜💜💜💜
U could laminate the photos then just put them in the frame and maybe some weather resistant spay paint or spray for the frame
I’m trying to find a solution that does not include the frames lol
Great job! Two years later seeing this video. Loved it ALL specially the cinder block / 2x4 benches and the bar. Thank you much for the great ideas!
They were so easy to assemble! Highly recommend if you’re looking for super affordable outdoor furniture!
I’m binge watching your DIY videos. I LOVE them. I like that you’re doing it on a budget. Also, you have a calming voice! Lol
Muy bonita decoración pero recomiendo fijar las tablas del bar y los bancos para evitar que se puedan mover y evitar accidentes
Now I’m wanting to add a refrigerator 😂 🤣
Do it! Lol it is totally worth it if you use the space often!
Same. Lol
Thank you for being so honest upfront about how much work went into this project. Other RUclipsrs should take note of that.
There’s always a ton of work involved in these kinds of projects, but it’s totally worth it!
It is a great improvement! I hope you and your family enjoy your new space!
Thank you! We are loving it!
Hey, Question does the wood moves when someone sits on the bench?
Is my concern too but darn, they look good! Lol
NiNi to #6 I know I like them too
I addressed this in my voiceover when I said that we secured them with concrete adhesive
Loving Life as Megan oh sorry I did not heard that part
@@dianaslife5722 The concrete adhesive is going to dry out and breaks apart with the sun, that's why is better to place the 2 by 4"s with screws, it only takes one on each end.
Loved the budget makeover but was thrown off when I went to check out the code for the outdoor fidge.... $1200 after taxes for an outdoor mini!?! Don't get me wrong, it's nice but you cut corners and was talking about saving money the entire time so that's a tad confusing. I don't even have a $1200 one inside my home 😭
Cutting corners in other places so that you can invest where you want to is part of being on a budget for us. If you aren’t interested in the fridge you don’t have to purchase it.
Yeah.
@@lovinglifeasmegan I know what budget means :) I just wasn't expecting such an expensive piece after watching the entire video but with that being said good for you on spending towards getting something that you really wanted! Like I said it is really nice.... That's why I was interested 😊 My apologies if you took offense it wasn't supposed to come out that way. Sometimes with affiliate links the recommender may get some kind of compensation so I was trying to support! 💕Obviously, I know I don't HAVE TO purchase it but that came out kind of snarky and defensive. We can all work on being better 😉
@@456pickupstixs Actually, you were very nice about it. You simply pointed out, quite correctly, that $1,200 is not a budget item. The cost of this plus all the other items is no budget. I actually thought the youtuber's comment was the snarky one, and it quite surprised me when I read it. I would recommend taking the 'budget' part out of the title, and just using DIY.
@@Bella-sh2ib thanks sweets! Yeah not sure why she replied the way she did. I was only saying because I WAS interested! A bummer for me who was gaining inspo and tryna support but perhaps it was a gift to them from the company for promo?!🤷♀️. I understand, it wouldnt be in their interest to say it was expensive but either way it was the 1st and last video I'll watch here cause the response alone had a superior connotation. Not a way to speak to your viewers or subs but still wish their channel success in the end.
We built our outdoor couch the same way; used an old baby crib mattress for a cushion. I never thought about doing a bar the same way! Looks awesome! Thanks for sharing 👍
That’s such a great idea!
This patio looks lovely. Your hard work paid off. I loved how your hubby was so instrumental in creating your vision. Great job guys 👍🏼👍🏼
Thank you!
I wish I could get my lazy husband to do this. This is the last recycle.
😂😂😂😂
IKR!
I get you. My husband is not a handy man, i do all the reno work...this spring i asked him to help me work on the patio, he never seemed to have time or the mood for it...summer came and i ended up doing the whole work by myself and once it was done and well decorated he is enjoying the patio...i guess we have to give up the idea that men should be handy but definetely i appreciate teamwork. Love this couple.
It sounds like she expects husband to do it all. Maybe she said "join in". My girlfriend expects me to do all the hard work I'm finding out.
A “ton of work”? Kinda feeling bad for people that do this for a living. Respect for construction workers and handypeople.
I definitely feel bad for people who do it for a living! Although I’m sure they are much more efficient than we were lol
Well… They don't do it for free they charge lots of money!!
People who do this for a living CHOOSE to do this for a living and love the work they do. Plus, they get paid really good money to make art! No need to feel sorry for them, lol. I just wish I had their energy and skill to do some of the intricate jobs they do. Pure talent!
They know what to do and they use more machines and tools . Also the care is not the same
Exactly…give to me the tools and material and I’ll miserable😂, people that work and live from this MY GOD ARE GENIUOS!!!!!
Oh and what a wonderful hard working diy!!!!! What a team!!!!!!
I like the way your two not I but we when speaking of your patio makeover. Love it. You guys did a great job.
😊 thank you
I wish you really did show a little on how he leveled the sand
Sorry but it was too much to try to film
I agree, she could have just filmed like 2-3 minutes of it so we could at least see
Same here, a 3 secs timelapse would have sufficed 😅
You should just laminate the prints!! Then water won’t mess them up!!
That’s a great idea! If I had a laminator 😂
You could add an awning over that area.
You can also add a gazebo over the bar area.
The life of Courtney Great idea. Smart woman 😊
@@lovinglifeasmegan if you look up do it on a dime on a RUclips she has a video called "DIY LAMINATOR TIPS | How to laminate at home" she gives you different ways to laminate without a laminator.
Gotta love the teamwork!!! Great job guys, looks so cool!!!
I love the cinder block & 2x4s. I've loved that look and idea for many years now. It's just a matter of where in my yard to put them. May be a wonderful idea for my son & family's backyard.
You could always create a fire pit area for them!
@@lovinglifeasmegan yes that's true
I’m confused isn’t this video about saving money on home renovations but then you spend like 1300 on a mini fridge 😂😳🤯🤯🤯 great video otherwise and love the creativity
This video is “on a budget” and that budget is what we felt comfortable with. Just like you have a budget that you feel comfortable with.
I like to save money where I can, like price matching, buying discounted items and doing work myself to eliminate labor costs, so that I can put that money towards other things that are wanted/needed.
If you don’t want an outdoor mini fridge then don’t buy one for yourself. But it is not your place to judge other people who do make room for it in their budgets.
I love so far what I seen in your diy projects. Also you have such a soothing voice it makes the video even more pleasant, you and your husband make a good team.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I love the benches and table idea, so smart!
Thank you!
Your project came out beautiful, and I loved to see you and your hub working together.
Thank you so much 💜💜
I am super impressed with the benches. Absolutely amazing!!
Thanks! We love them!
It's beautiful. I love the DIY benches and bar. How creative! I may do that in my yard.
They were totally worth it!
Nice to see a young couple working together to improve their home and quality of life, Cheers to you!
🤗🤗🤗
I love how you guys are working in your sandals...so relatable. Literally how I do all my outdoor projects. Lol finished product looks great!
Haha we’re always in sandals in the summer time! 😂
Everything looks so great the paintings are so cool! 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Thank you!
You can use outdoor wind sails to cover for shade & install 4x4 post, to attach to, plus u can drill solar lights to post & string outdoor lights from post to post.
We thought about doing that but it was way out of our budget!
Love it! :) Those benches and bar are FABULOUS!
Thank you! I have plans to update them this year! 🤗
I love watching these vids! It looks so good! Good job 👏🏼
Thank you so much!
All your hard work paid off!!! It looks amazing.
Thank you!
When I first saw you putting the pictures together my first thought was "oh no" when it rains!!!!. But since they look GREAT, just get an awning to cover that particular area from the rain. Great job.!!!!👏👏👏
Awnings are expensive lol
The humidity from rainy weather would still get inside the frames & warp the prints, unless you laminate them first
Laminating the pictures could possibly work...
Love the way you and hubby work so well together, cute
🤗🤗🤗
I loved how this turned out. The DIY bar was super dope!
Thank you! The diy furniture was super easy to make 🤗
Thank you for being real about how long projects last. Esp with kids and jobs
Yes! They always take longer than expected lol
Nice teamwork with you 2!!!! Sweet project as well. Good job
Team work makes the dream work 🤗
Big transformation. Lovevthe modern patio. You can enjoy having chitchat with. Good job
We’ve been hanging out there a lot more than we ever did before 🤗
@@lovinglifeasmegan Wow you replied. Thank you so much. Am happy. God bless you and your beautiful family
Very nice. It's great that you also share the mistakes in order to avoid them. Thanks for sharing.
I enjoyed watching you and your husband work, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
