Not a fan of the handles being in the middle of the over the toilet cabinet, but everything else is 💯
Yeah they would of looked better going horizontal on the bottom!
Looked so out of place
Was looking for this comment. Aside from looking weird, I feel like it would be awkward to open
I thought gold ones to match the ones on the vanity would have looked better.
@@baltmv omg yes!
Soo many smart solutions to weird random issues in your bathroom! It makes it so relatable. Awesome, Rachel!
there is always a solve!!!
@@TheSorryGirlsSuper job! New subscriber 😊
Love the result! A quick tip is to fill your bathtub with water when you caulk or when you put weight in it while bathing or showering it can stretch the caulk and lead to cracking. I have caulked a few tubs in my time!
great tip! thank you!!
Not doing this is what causes most problems. Great tip.
Would have loved to see the added element of Rachael sloshing in the water. Cue additional slipping moment. 😂
I had thought the same thing, I'm speaking from my own experience lol. I did the same mistake and now I have to fix it.
I'm about to re-caulk our stand-up shower because it is BAD. Any tips for caulking a shower (no tub)?
Definitely think you should’ve painted the over the toilet cabinet, the same green as your sink stand…… love the divider
I came to say the same! Maybe do the stain technique in that inset area of it, but all the rest of it green would have really looked great.
Yes and that I would have attached the black handles in the corners the previous handle's hole didn't need filling or would hide it
Agreed.
i think it's nice matching the wood tones and reflecting the divider. sink stands alone as a setpiece imo. great reno!
I like the wood tone but I would have painted the inside of the bottom cubby that same green from the vanity!
Such a big do-over for such a little space. The bathroom now has so much style and personality. Brava Rachel.❤
Love it! Biggest transformation: the caulk. Dang what a difference some fresh caulk makes! The wall ledge was a genius idea- it is small but adds so much! The divider is pretty. I have a tankless water heater in my laundry room that is an eye sore…and I’ve wanted to build a faux cabinet around it for a while, but maybe a divider like this would suffice…great job!
yes!! we did something similar for a laundry room makeover to hide a water tank!! ruclips.net/video/KSI6YPw5Qhw/видео.html
I'm renting as well the and the caulk as super moldy and I went and fixed with some brand new caulk and it looks so much better
The tile job in the shower is truly the definition of "landlord special" looks great for what you were working with! I would definitely check for water damage around the shower fixture though. Had similar tile in my house growing up and they started falling out like that because everything behind it was water damaged and rotting
That may be the reason for the different tiles. (Spot treatments).
The divider really is the key item that gives the bathroom a whole new vibe!! Love the style❤
yah and I know it looks hard but it really was easy to make!
Love the transformation! Not sure if someone already mentioned it, but it's a good idea to fill the bath full of water when you do the silicone, to avoid it stretching/detaching when you eventually have a bath. Learned this from a bathroom fitter.
Should the water be hot or does it not matter?
@@jackieb.1118the temperature doesn’t matter, you just want the weight of the water in the tub, because sometimes the tub will move or flex when it holds the water due to the weight
Interesting. Thanks for sharing that tip!
That divider-idea is borderline genius!🤩 I am going to steal it😁
Good job👍
I’d also paint the inside of the over-the-toilet cabinet with the green. You’ll see it reflected in the mirror and it would tie in so nice. Love the divider!
Yes! I sooooo wanted that cabinet to be all green! That green is gorgeous 💚💚💚
That divider is genius. It divides the shower off so nicely and makes the space feel way more luxurious.
Pro-tip - when sealing corners with silicone sealant (NOT caulk, which is not water resistant like silicone sealant is), after adding your bead along the edge, spray it with soapy water before spreading with your finger or tool. This avoids it sticking to everything and gives a nice smooth finish :)
I recognize Kelsey's green bathtub color as the new cabinet color! Also a pro tip: Get a grout cleaner and a toothbrush to remove the black stains from the grout in the shower :)
The divider and mini floating shelf are vital....so good for that space! The weird black handles on the hanging cabinet are, well, weird...that one is a no from me.
You literally just elevated this tiny old bathroom by 100000 fold. Im in awe. Where was this video when I lived in my old apartment?!
Ask the landlord if you can just paint the tiles white- he should pay you for improving his bathroom:)
👀😍
Or peel and stick tiles! That would have been amazing!
WOW! This looks a thousand times better. And that super skinny shelf behind the door is genius. Great job!
I love it, especially the green cabinet under the sink ✨ so much I think you should've painted the other the same too 😂
Yeps I'd see it green with same brass handles
this is rachael's best video yet. i really like how the changes make perfect sense for the space and add a lot of visual value/intrigue without looking cheap or cutting corners.
Had to laugh when I saw all the different tiles in your bathroom. Makes you wonder what they were thinking! Looks so much nicer now, Rachel!
Much improved. Paint the open part of the over the toilet cabinet the same green as the vanity.
I definitely needed a video like this. I’m getting so much inspiration to design my space
yay! love to hear this!
loved this makeover! These are diys that even people with no experience or expensive tools can do and I loved the outcome, especially the room dewider is something that I wouldnt have thought of in a small bathroom, but it looks so good!
I honestly love the original 30s tiles around the outside walls. Ashame they ruined it in the tub but you did an excellent way to mask it. Now you can draw the curtain too when guests are over but still have light come through the divider. Genius idea Rachel 😌
I live in Nigeria and we have no home depots and the cost to do any type of room makeover😂. But I'm obsessed with the sorry girls❤❤. Love you guys.
it looks soooo much better. love these videos that are renter friendly(ish) lol
hahaha yes, renter friendly (aka approved by landlord but can be adjusted to be more renter friendly if needed)
You did a really nice job of making a boring bathroom much more interesting. The divider was a great idea as well as the interesting light fixture. ❤
It looks amazing! But if you want to change the caulking around the tiles there is a special pen for it that comes in white, black and grey(as far as I know). And that could help with cohesiveness of the different tile colors!
I suggested this too. It would make it match and look cleaner.
There’s Black caulking??? 😮
@@WaterBearer789 Yes!🤩
@@xiaonihao7440 That is EXCITING! Thanks for that!
I love little updates like this, where basicially 200 bucks & a coat of paint make it feel fresh and 3x as clean.
It is what it is
- literally everytime i diy 😂
hahaha it be like that
I love everything you did! The only thing I would have done differently is replace the brass ceiling mount cover with a plain, flat white cache so that you don't see it from the side. 😘
Tip for the mold on the grout. I swear by Tilex, it's been a wonder destroying mold. And it's just a spray you leave on for like 10-15minutes and then wipe away
I was concerned that she gave such a cursory cleaning of the mold between the tile and tub. Won’t the mold just start growing back under the new calandra make an even bigger mess?
This is absolutely realistic! The bathroom is tiny, and the problems are relatable. I feel like I could maybe do some of this! Maybe not the sawing yet, but the caulking for sure!
the 5 tiles is truly the Toronto renter experience lol
It's fun watching a Canadian diy a PH lamp. Basically every Dane has at least one from heritage . It's so nice.
Loved seeing Rachel tackle a project like this. She has an eye for creativity and getting to see her designing a room is amazing!
I really like the changes. The light and the divider are splendid.
Beautiful outcome! Such an improvement to what you originally had. My ONE qualm is I feel like the black handles on the cabinet above the toilet are a tad too bulky-looking. Other than that, it’s a win for me! 🙌🏽
That hanging light just got me! Sometimes small spaces are difficult because doing too much can look crowded but your solutions appear to have worked!
Well done, Rachael! Love your sense of humor too. Great ideas that I may steal from you-- especially the little shelf behind the door! Thanks for sharing!!
Please do!
What a lovely wooden light fitting you made, Rachel. The bathroom looks so much better now than it was.
You should see Caroline Winkler's 2 bathroom makeovers. She didn't like the first, so she made a second one. So good!
I had professionals come in to restore the grout in my foyer awhile ago. They used a bucket of very hot water with a combo of ammonia and Tide detergent, along with a stiff bristle brush to scrub the grout. Once clean and completely dry, the grout was stained to match the tile. It turned out perfectly!
Thank you for sharing! Good to know. ❤❤❤
UN FREAKIN BELIEVABLE! From DIY Halloween costumes to complete home renovations!
I absolutely LOVED this video! 100% relatable, because a lot (if not most) of people live in apartments, with bathrooms very similar to this! :) Oh and - I absolutely adore all the videos by Rachael, something about her whole vibe and voice are so calm and soothing!
Wow, not only did it turn out great, but you managed to keep smiling through the chaos! Great job 👍
BEAUTIFUL! You did an amazing job with the makeover. From design concept to execution... BRAVO!
The caulking gun tip BLEW MY MIND. You don't even know how long it's taken me to cut silicone open with a knife before
This turned out so cute! I love how you were able to figure out solutions to all of the problems!
*Love the Divider, Mirror and Light fixture* . I will never think I have a tiny bathroom again. I was fortunate to purchase a home with a remodeled bathroom. New tile, breadboard and that picture ledge. I'm a lover of cottage styling and it suits my one person household. That was a challenging space to work with, love what you accomplished!
Love it all! You are extremely entertaining to watch. Glad you didn't get hurt!
Soo many issues in this bathroom, you've done such a great job at making it look the best you possibly could with your skills and what you have. Love how you bring us real solutions to rl problems many on a tiny budget face. Great job!
Really love this makeover! The space doesn't look sad anymore. LOL. The changes are lovely and make a statement without over over powering the space.
A great job on the space with the limitations you had to work in both in square footage and being renter friendly. You mentioned struggling with blending in plugged holes, I find using a plug cutter to get the material to fill the hole helps in blending since you are working with long grain as opposed to the end grain you get with a dowel. They are about the cost of a regular drill bit and work in any drill.
Rachel, I love your videos. Your positive energy always makes me smile regardless of how I'm feeling that day.
Thank you for explaining everything so thoroughly. Makes it so much easier for me to try myself! Great makeover!!! Looks amazing!!!🥰❤️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you for showing us how to caulk! I’ve been needing to redo my kitchen sink but have felt so nervous because I have no idea what I’m doing - I’ll definitely be giving it a go with your tutorial in the background 😂
This one of my all time favourite videos. Great work as always Rachael
I love this no demo makeover!! The divider is the best bit, but everything looks amazing together. If the dowel holes really bother you, you could swap & flip the doors so they're on top and not as visible. More videos from Rachael please!!
So so so so soooooo good! That divider is chefs kiss!!!!
I get soooo many tips and really good guidance from you all the time. Sometimes when Kels or Beks share their ideas I find it hard to follow (thas a 'me' problem btw lol) but just wanted to share because Rach, you're a huge asset to the team and I appreciate you 😊☺
My faves are the light fixture and narrow shelf, such little things but so much impact. Fun!
This transformation is insane! Amazing ❤ and I love that is a rental and the changes are totally achievable with some creative problem solving
I love this makeover…it makes it feel doable to make a renters home feel like home. ❤
Beautiful job, but just wondering why you didn't paint the over-the-toilet cabinet the same color as the cabinet under the sink. Would have tied the two together. All-in-all, it rocks!
I think it was to have some symmetry with the divider but I think the divider stood up well on its own as it’s a statement piece. I initially did think she was going to cut the center of the cabinet doors out and add the same material on the divider once I saw that she was using the same color but it didn’t happen, had she done that I think I wouldn’t have cared that it wasn’t green but since it was meant to be a solid piece green would have elevated interest in it and gave it an up to date modern feel but it’s AWESOME WORK OVERALL SO…I’m just running my mouth LOL
Beautiful and creative transformation! Well done, Rachel! 👏👏👏
You are definitely talented for handling odd layouts of construction . Definitely like your style of decor. Good job gal.
love the the green, it's always good with and if the natural light comes in
I love this makeover so much! Who would think so many little changes could make such an impact? Inspired to have a crack at my bathroom now!
Oh wow!!! This bathroom looks amazing!! I would have never come up with that. Amazing job Rachel 😍
Rachel never fails to entertain us while making a huge transformation of a space... Bravo 👏
I'm currently redoing my bathroom and that diy divider is freaking genius and I'm so excited to make one in my tiny bathroom! ❤❤
Love the divider you installed. Quite 'simple' but gives it some sort of privacy feeling.
Im so indecisive honestly I'd end up with 5 different tiles too in my bathroom
honestly I get it
Love this transformation! So many small but lovely details that distract from the weird quirks that many of our bathrooms have 😅 Great vid 💯
The plate light fixture and how you hid the wall plate was so clever, but I have to agree that I would have painted both the cabinets in the green.
So cute!! And, more importantly for me, I love your youtube persona/presentation style. It is SO refreshing and natural and fun.
Love the bathroom make over specially the divider , gives the bathroom outdoorsy vibes , cheers!
Incredible difference!!! I love the colors/wood. So warm. The divider is awesome!
A makeover video, yay!! 👏 I love when you guys do these 🤗
so do we :)
Yes! Would love to see more makeovers. 👏🏻
I wasn't very sure at the beginning but I'm very very impressed! 👏👏👏
I hardly ever comment but wanted to say I’ve missed your vids Rachel! Your ideas are so ingenious and original. The space looks amazing ❤
I am very distracted by the sudden pop of green and golden handles in the vanity in contrast with all the black around it, but other that I LOVE this makeover, I was waiting for a video like this and I got true inspiration from it. Great job👏🏻👏🏻
Many innovative ideas in such a small and common space. That divider is killer, and I love the tony shelf❤ Good job!!
omg i’m so happy i found y’all again. i used to watch u years ago and now i’m moving into my own apartment and i can finally some of the diys 🖤🖤
Gorgeous job!! I love the warmth and texture you brought to a sterile little white box
The Room is lovely.
Turned out so good! In my kitchen i just switched out the old handles and faucet for sleek black ones and it made the biggest difference 😍
They make really awesome durable paint for tile! It’s all about proper prep and seal!
Painting the tiles all the same color would definitely hide the fact its mismatched.
Gorg makeover!
i love the creativity! You did a great job
Awesome!
Had to cringe at the missing, "Did I shut off the breaker?" sorry, but...
that turned out so amazing, I would have never thought that up, very inspiring!
Thanks!
Love this, very realistic with all the unexpected issues! Great job rach
Thank you for the caulking instructions. I have to do that this weekend and I'm glad to see how to do it.
I'm glad Rachael left the handle bar in the bathroom! Accessibility features are important and can also look nice.
Reminds me one of our bathrooms in our house is so plain. We originally wanted to make it fun and vaporwave inspired but that's turned out to be quite challenging in a rental to find not affordable decor for so it needs a bit of a pivot, but hopefully can be worked on this summer.
this turned out so freaking cool!! it looks sooo good and i love all the projects that truly elevated the space
I love how realistic this makeover was and it turned out soo beautiful! Makes my bathroom feel so much more achievable :) Thanks Rachel, I think you actually became my favorite sorrygirl
I love everything here, but especially the tiny shelf behind the door! I've been trying to figure out what to do with a similar space in my bathroom because the bare wall just isn't the vibe. Thanks for sharing this beautiful transformation! ❤
I love seeing how you use what you have to make such a stunning change. ❤
You improved the space so much. Great problem solving with the light fixture and the screen. Love the little shelf and the cabinet addition. The one thing I would have liked to see is maybe a peel and stick wallpaper with a print to take away from the starkness. Maybe just one accent wall or maybe throughout. Something with the green of the vanity.
