    ✅ About this video:
    In today's video, we're taking our RV living experience to the next level by upgrading our towing setup. It's an exciting milestone as we're using a Ford F450 for the first time and trying out the Gen-Y Gooseneck hitch. We've heard fantastic reviews about both, and now it's our turn to put them to the test. Huge thanks to @GENYHITCH for sending us their latest gooseneck hitch! This video documents the process of removing our old fifth wheel hitch, preparing the area, and installing the new hitch. While it's a relatively straightforward upgrade, it's important to note that it does require at least two people for safety, so please seek assistance and don't attempt it alone. Once the new hitch is installed, we're adding the break-away switch and conducting testing. Join us as we experience this new combination for the first time. Spoiler alert... we absolutely loved it! 😍

    Going on 3 years with our Gen-Y gooseneck, almost 30k miles towing with it. Smooth ride, no chucking, easy to hookup/disconnect and no dang hitch in the bed of the truck. Love your new setup! So happy for you guys 🤍

    You will love the tow experience. We have run a Reese Goosebox on our Reflection for a couple years and would never go back. GenY should be a cut above but 2 years back Lippert had not accepted them to not void the warranty. Towing is much smoother and solid feeling not to mention we love hookup and having our bed free! Happy and safe travels!

    Question:
    I have a 2024 F350, do you notice that when in tow mode and you are using CarPlay with the map on and driving with a trailer that both the “Diesel and General” pages blank out?
    So:
    -While towing (this is only while going down the road)
    -using CarPlay maps to a location
    -in tow/haul mode
    -I loose both the diesel and general pages.
    If I flip back to normal driving both appear no problem.
    Great looking truck! I love the power from 6.7 HO. I have 4,400 miles. It’s a beast, towing a Brinkley Z3610 19,000 loaded! Good idea is to change your oil at 1,000 miles incase any initial debris is in there. I found that Shaffers is that oil that many diesel guys recommend.

    Great timely video !!! We just had our new rig upgraded at MORryde with IS and we also decided to have a GEN Y hitch installed at a shop up there. Drove about 600 miles back down to Tennessee with no issues. Did have less chucking but the roads were so potholed not sure how much better the ride was. Did you get the BMW ball set? We didn’t get any shirts 😮. So there is not a need to do a pull test anymore right?

    Hopefully, your 5th wheel frame holds up.

  • @BottomleyAdventures
    @BottomleyAdventures 10 дней назад

    I would be concerned about switching from the factory fifth wheel hitch to the Gen-Y gooseneck, since it's not approved by Lippert. Especially with all of the issues people are having with broken frames, this type of hitch will make frame damage more likely because of the extra stress and twist it puts on the frame. In fact, you can see this torsion occur in your video, at 20:39 as the weight is transferred to the hitch, you can see the rear of the hitch dropping down, thus putting more tension on the back of the frame mount than the front, causing the frame to twist. I don't notice that with our factory fifth wheel hitch, the load appears to be applied much more vertically.

    • @1StrangeAdventure
      @1StrangeAdventure  10 дней назад

      What you are seeing is not the frame flexing, it's the design of the hitch. The hitch has torsion built into it which allows the hitch to absorb way more impact than the standard hitch. Brinkley has done extensive research on this hitch as they partnered with Gen-Y and hired independent data engineers to conduct their tests. We appreciate the concern but are enjoying our new hitch.

    • @BottomleyAdventures
      @BottomleyAdventures 10 дней назад

      @@1StrangeAdventure Cool, I certainly hope it works out long term for you and doesn't damage your frame. Personally, I wouldn't install it on mine unless and until Lippert approved it. As the frame manufacturer, Lippert has the best understanding of the stresses the frame can and cannot take.

    You should not grease your gooseneck ball. The only thing that might need a very little lube is the release if it is sticking. the ball and gooseneck is suppose to have friction to prevent sway also with give you better control with backing. Basically the same idea for your Reese hitch ball for towing a trailer. Just my 2 cents. Love the videos!
