    Awesome video! Love following the Lexus progression as I build mine!
    Curious to know what you are using for knock sensors? Are you still using the stock ones?
    I know you’re still on stock internals. I upgraded mine to the GTE ones and I’ve heard the stock is300 knock sensors are only resonant frequency (meaning they only pick up the sound of a stock motor, anything modified producers a different frequency)
    So I switched to Bosch flat response ones but haven’t figured out how to wire them up yet.
    Curious to know if your tuning with the knock sensors or your not looking at them at all. Some people swear by tuning with them, others don’t care. Curious to know what you’re doing? Thanks!

    • @Knownworldwide
      @Knownworldwide  6 месяцев назад

      Yeah the stock knock sensors suck! I am not looking at them. Just listening to the motor. The off the shelf “cookie cutter” ECU masters start tune from the website is way too aggressive on the timing table. So if you are using that as a starting point, please dial back the timing. My car used to ping and knock like crazy when I was getting into boost. I dropped the boost portion of the table significantly (~5-6 degrees)
      If you need help tuning, please feel free to reach out on my IG (Knownworld_wide) or email me by navigating to my other channel and look on the “About” tab.

      Yeah! Couldn’t agree more! That’s next on the list. I actually am trying to decide between the RS or the SP. The SP seems more “adult” like but I am a child haha. Either works for me though. I was going to get the WS2 originally but got the SP instead and it definitely sound much more relax until you start getting higher into the rev-band it sounds more aggressive and really shows how good the 2j can sound. The RS is more raspy and the cabin noise would be a pain imo the sp is already decently loud inside.

    I just bought an IS 300 and I was looking for the CX Racing turbo kit, I came across your video! very good timing, what are your objectives and expectations for the final result? and other than the turbo kit what are you going to change? to achieve this result? and how many psi max

    • @Knownworldwide
      @Knownworldwide  7 месяцев назад +4

      I would say my immediate goals are to just run the kit just how I have it up to around 10-12psi. That is about the limit that I feel the stock GE pistons can take with this size turbo. I don’t have any real expectations for this setup other than to just turn it up and see what it will do.
      I will be changing to 1000cc injectors eventually and buying a proper 3” exhaust for the car. That should free up some power. I will be manual swapping this car also later on.
      The main goal immediately for this build is to provide a current real world application of a budget build for a boosted is300 with an automatic for those who aren’t looking for a ton of power. This setup (as shown in the video) should yield 270-290whp (depending on the Dyno) all day long on the 315cc injectors.

    I ordered the same fuel pump, seems to be widely used in NA-T. I wonder if there is an easy plug and play (cheap) Toyota injector that would be larger than the 7M one, since You ran out of injector with them. My goal is 350-400. I think the videos would be better if you add captions/timeline. I have watched previous videos so I know the setup already, would be nice to be able to skip some parts without having to skip around randomly. Keep them coming :-)

    • @Knownworldwide
      @Knownworldwide  7 месяцев назад +3

      Hey thanks for watching and I hope you decide to stick around. I believe with a manual transmission and a proper 3” exhaust on 8psi it should be closer to 290whp. However that’s just me estimating. There might be a bigger injector but they need to meet 2 requirements:
      1. Physically fit (right height and width
      2. Be high impedance
      I was looking into some Lexus V8 injectors (1uz and 2uz) but even those are still around the same size as these 7M units. Too bad the Supra TT injectors are low impedance otherwise I’d run those since they are 440cc. You can try and run them with a resistor box wired in but I am not sure how to do that nor do I want to hack up my wiring to do so.
      I’ve always planned on buying bigger injectors, I’m just running these to give people a VERY budget solution and hit the dyno to prove how far they can go reliably. 8psi is the limit of these guys.

      As far as the captions are concerned, I select the option to allow the RUclips “program” place auto captions and such. I think the video needs to be uploaded for a certain time period for it to come into action.

    dont kick yourself in the foot always aim for %65 top duty cycle on pump gas and that way you have room for e85 tunes etc. witch is always easy power get a flex fuel sensor setup etc i have ran over 20psi on a vortex fmu (old school adds fuel per boost made) they sell diff ratios so 1:1 1:6 meaning one lb of boost ads either 1lbs of fuel pressure or 6 lbs up to 1:12 i think and a old apex safc not even the neo lol just buy some 1000cc and turn boost to 14 psi lol id buy a fmu and a few different ratio disc so you can swap and dial it in with the safc but made 513whp for years just have to run a wideband 02 and in car gauge to monitor while tuning but i had it dialed at 12.5-12.0 wot from 4200-7k all before ecus were even being used... think power fc was just dropping for my rb at the time now building another is300... dont even think im getting ecu for it 2500 just to tune for boost including jumper harness and more a mess... nope ill grab a old bee*r if i want two step lol

    • @Knownworldwide
      @Knownworldwide  7 месяцев назад

      Not going to be running e85 on this car ever. I definitely have been around to know all the old school FMU tricks and such. This dyno session is more of a baseline to see what the car will do with a very budget minded setup with cheap (~$200) OE injectors that can be purchased at any local parts store. 8psi on pump gas is the absolute limit of these. Not bad for someone not looking to make a ton of power.
      As mentioned at the end of the video. This car (like most projects) will never be done and will always be evolving into something more as time goes on. I appreciate you watching the video and hope you decide to stick around.

    Should have ran some 440cc those on the turbo supra and that 340 pump small atleast do a 450 i run 450 with three inch turbo pipipin

    • @Knownworldwide
      @Knownworldwide  7 месяцев назад +2

      TL;DR Trust me. I know bigger injectors are the way to go.
      This dyno session is for a very budget minded build. These injectors in the car now are super cheap ~$35-$40 each. I know the car can make much more power. Turbo Supra injectors are not plug and play. They require wiring in a resistor box which is not what I wanted to do. The only 440cc injectors that can be had for cheap are WRX injectors that are basically plug and play. Those are around ~$100 per injector. At that price for 6 injectors, I might as well buy a nice set of aftermarket injectors.
      I am just getting my feet wet so to speak with this build. People would love to see what a budget build can do. The only thing I wish I had on the car before the dyno session was a proper 3” exhaust. I am sure the car would have down closer to 300 wheel, but it’s ok because I will only be improving on the car from here.
      Thanks for taking the time to watch the video bro! Hope you decide to stick around for the long run.

      Yes sir! Plan is to run some 1000cc injectors soon. Just wanted to give me a for sure answer on just how far these stock (cheap ~$200) 7M-GE injectors can take a budget build. 8psi is the absolute limit of these injectors without a doubt. Honestly not a bad deal for someone who isn’t looking to make tons of power. Especially those with a factory automatic transmission.
      I appreciate you watching the video! Hope you decide to stick around.

    • @sneezinhatch

      TBH I pushed my same set up that you had with a bigger turbo and added more timing on a e25 blend made 350 whp on 10 psi if you want to stay the budget route I think I got my flex fuel setup from real street, another great cheap power adder is do a 3 inch turbo back to just 3 inch can I got another 23 HP from that I will send you videos of those and my newest project 1997 Toyota solara from Japan inline 6 twin turbo

    • @Knownworldwide
      @Knownworldwide  7 месяцев назад

I know my stock exhaust is choking this thing! Soon enough I will be getting a proper 3” on this thing! I have hit 10psi on the street I hit 9psi for a brief moment but on straight 91 octane my duty cycles were already around 98% which I did not like. Appreciate the support man! Would love to see some videos of your build now! Those 1mz engines are definitely slept on! There is a guy I think overseas that just ran a 11.53 on a 1997 Camry that is boosted. Pretty awesome

  • @joshquiroz
    @joshquiroz 7 месяцев назад +1

    How much lag with that turbo?

    • @Knownworldwide
      @Knownworldwide  7 месяцев назад +1

      Honestly it’s a relatively small turbo for this engine. I hit full boost at 3,700-3,800rpm. Of course it’s only 8psi. If you were to shoot for say 15psi, I’d estimate peak boost around 4k rpms.
      VVTi tuning will help this. If you have a non VVTi motor, I’d raise those numbers up a couple hundred.
      Btw, thanks for watching the video! Hope you decide to stick around.

    What gear did you do the pulls in? I have an a340E but was wondering what gear it’ll be possible to dyno in

    • @Knownworldwide
      @Knownworldwide  7 месяцев назад

      Well normally you would want to do pills in a gear that has a 1:1 ratio. Most autos would be in 4th gear. I was going to run this in 4th gear which is 1:1 but the dyno operator advised 3rd gear as the hub dyno can simulate road load accurately and so that’s the gear I did the pulls in.
      A340e I would think 3rd gear is 1:1 and that should be fine.
