I like to use Blue clove and Briareum to cover the back pane of the aqaurium. If you let both or more start to spread you get some pretty interesting patterns all over the back of the tank.
Blue clove polyps are related to Xenias and they are scientifically Sansibia, not clavularia (the larger ones in the video). Clavularia clove polyps take a lot of time to grow, and you can create a garden with them and zoanthids in the bottom of the tank. I have them for some years, they are lovelly and does not cause issues. Clavularia: With too much flow, they dont look as pretty as they do in low flow areas (like flowers), also dont mix them with SPS, they are not aggressive, but they grow tall. Let us hope more varieties of clavularia reach the hobby. the reverse is true for Sansibia, it shouldnt be mixed with Zoanthids, as Sansibia are very fast growers.
I have had great success growing this polyp with clean water. Good amount of flow. High light in a tank and regular feeding every 2 to 3 days with phytoplankton. Drifting the food right into the polyp. It'll grow faster than green star polyp. It grows like ivy. And can quickly get out of control in the right conditions.
I think the small blue snowflake polyps are great rock cover. They don’t seem to bother the other corals and keep the Arcos and Montipora from growing together.
A lot of KSP music is actually royalty free music, the song in this video is called "Groove Grove" and wasn't made for KSP specifically. Some KSP songs must happen to show up in search results because I've heard a lot of the songs all over RUclips
My Clove's seem to like low flow and medium light. In higher flow they don't open up as much in my system and just don't look as beautiful. They also grow faster than most other coral in my tank besides GSP. Also, they have survived some nutrient and salinity swings I've had where my many of my other coral such as Torches and SPS corals did not.
I have four different types of cloves, happy to hear they are not the weeds I thought they may be. Does anyone know a place to look up your coral to see what it is?
i use clavularia for display , strong flow , the blue polyp variety I use under acro, like Rico's. a hermit or two wouldn't hurt for the larger polyps they help clean junk
Blue cloves 're one off my favorite they take over yes but easily moved back by any other coral they take up empty space but are none aggressive so zoa's, greenstars, a acropora or anything can stop them and push them back or they will create natural borders on their on beautiful coral takes up dead space gives movement, not picky about lighting or flow.
One of my fave coral!! But in my experience has been a hit and miss, like they grow but i expected them to spread fast and dominate... idk sometimes ppl say its bcus my tank is 'too clean'. But my friends definitely have good time with them as theirs spread like weed
Can you please do a video with side by side comparisons of corals. Especially the (in my opinion) subtle differences between certain LPS. this would be much appreciated.
Hi, could you please suggest me what kind of microscope should I buy for seeing corals?? My sight is not the best and I have troubles checking my corals from pests, disease, distinguishing algae var, etc. I'm 2 years into the hobby, I don't want buy anything fancy/expensive but I don't wanna buy just a 20 bucks magnifier either. Thank you for your support!!
You might want to try a dental loupe. There are some on amazon for about $50. They magnify something you are looking at that is about 12" away. amzn.to/3mOyaGu
I have some clove polyps that have developed a good amount of hair algae over which in turn has caused them to be closed for a couple weeks. I’ve tried to get my cuc to help the situation but they’re just interested in the algae in between the polyps not the polyps themselves. Is this coral a goner already or is it salvageable?
I believe it is a Melanurus wrasse...I just lost mine to starvation. I have a very aggressive lime wrasse that would chase the Melanurus every time he came out to eat. Make sure you research what wrasses may not get along. Good luck!
Hello all, i have clove polyps but 3 days ago I moved them from place to place and now they don't want to open, the water stream is stronger their new place
It funny that you state these don’t propagate much. I went to my LFS last week and they had some frogs of these. Not for sale. A week later in the same tank there were about 6 NEW individual clusters growing all over the egg crate. So they are going to drag some so I can have them. I’ve had the green before but the rainbow variety is absolutely stunning
Thank you Then, great information as always! I love these corals but just lost two plugs that I had recently purchased...Also, your camera is amazing! Wow! I remember you saying in another video what kind it was, can you tell us again please? Thanks again!
Last week this same thing happened to mine! They were my first coral and seemed to be doing really well for months, then poof, 90% of them just died in a few days.

Perfect timing. Lost a colony of these a while ago. Really love the colors they have so much.

Just got a small colony today!! Very timely and informative vid
I found that a low flow was best but a good point on keeping the bottom clear.
Thanks Than, another great video to add to the collection

Nice video, good info on this coral, thank you for making this videos series I makes really easy to choose the best coral for our tanks.
Love the KSP background music.

@@SkywardPhantom good info to know. This was just the first time I heard it outside of KSP
I bought 4 heads in January ... now i have like 25? ^^ so i have to say... the coral grows fast !
My Clavularia are solid green in color. To me they grow fast compared to my favites and some of my zoas. Nice video production btw 😄
I love your videos
It would be neat to see some slowmo macro video of the polyps catching and eating food.
Hey than this was a really interesting video .... I have quite a few of these soft corals they are my favourite 😀
I have some that are blue.there a very pretty softy.I love these little guys

How do I trim these? Mine is getting really big on the rock I have it on
I love cloves, I use them to fill in my dead spaces between my other coral

The intensity of light do you use for the corals seems weak, how can i get some likethat without a par meter?
how is that how you define coral? one is coral one is I think more closely cnidaria. either way what about alveopora vs goni?
Does this work for Heteroxenia polyp coral
Awesome Update, learned a lot!!!
Great video. Thanks!!!
Very interesting coral..Great video Than!

Mine just started overgrowing my zoas. Time to break out the tweezers

Anyone know the type of wrasse coming in and out of frame around the 4:25 mark?

Great vid Than!
Great coral
40 different species! Woah!!
Great video.

It is strange. They continue to be slow growing for us.
My cloves exploded!! Moore than quadrupled in 3 4 months, about the only thing in there that grew for a little while before I worked out some kinks
Are blue eye sympodium clove polyps?
No, Sympodium are their own thing. They look similar though.
Thanks!!!!!!!
hows the new HQ?
Coming along slowly. Won't be ready any time soon.
thanks
Omfg the spore music I AM LOSING MY MIND
Thank you Then, great information as always! I love these corals but just lost two plugs that I had recently purchased...Also, your camera is amazing! Wow! I remember you saying in another video what kind it was, can you tell us again please? Thanks again!
Thank you. The camera is a Canon C200.
I didn't have good luck with my clove polyps for whatever reason. Maybe bad placement...
I have some that died melted away but now they are growing back out of nowhere
Is blue sympodium the same as clove corals? I have some and it is very healthy but I don't see it growing rapidly as you describe
They are not and I might do a separate video about them. I don't think the care requirements are any different, but they are a separate Genus.
That would be great if you did. I love this coral...one of my favorites.
The ones in my tank grow really fast
Top👍
Do you have any of those aggressive small Blue Clove polyps?
Hmm, after watching this I want more corals.
Mine has been closed for months
Mine never opens
It just there looking like a dried stick
I cannot keep these, they just keep melting and everything else thrives
Last week this same thing happened to mine! They were my first coral and seemed to be doing really well for months, then poof, 90% of them just died in a few days.
I was pretty shocked, when I discovered, that these things eat bigger food! Like 1 mm big pellets and adult frozen artemia!
Def very slow growers. Or I got a bad frag.
It looks the same as xenia why dont you just get those, they grow fastee
Sorry, I met Than!
Now xenia on the other hand that grows like weeds.
They did good for a month and died im my tank. /:
That's one ridiculous camera! It's as if it's fake lol
Thanks! I'm super happy with the results of this camera.
Tidal Gardens what setup are you using? You’re able to get great depth of field at such a high magnification
Clove polyps grow like weeds... they will quickly take over an aquarium.
