this is honestly perfect for the exact reason you stated, most videos are 10-15min bite size chunks that are frankly just gaming the advertising algorithms, and so most channels stay away from actually discussing what they are doing or thinking and it comes down to a really slim pros/cons list at the end with very little context because we didnt SEE those pros and cons.
one thing i love about your channel is you break away from that "normal way to do things" and i salute you for it
+1 for talkiing about out the box setup - this hobby needs that point of view and if i were a manufacturer i would zoom you over to china and put you in a room with an upcoming model and let you tear us to pieces to make it great when it releases

No scripts, no staring at a face for x number of minutes, no clips of stock video while with voiceover. Great stuff, i forsee this channel blowing up.

For the power supply it's critical that you check the plug polarity as well as the voltage. Also the factory plug is an earthed EU type, not US but WGAF.

    • @NoobixCube
      @NoobixCube 3 месяца назад

It's always wise to check polarity, but in general you're pretty safe unless there's audio equipment involved. Audio gear with a metal case (amps, pedals, mixers) is usually centre-negative, while audio gear with a plastic case (keyboards/synths, midi gear) is usually centre-positive. No guarantees, so always check.
The other case, when a device has a battery compartment for alkaline batteries, DC-in is often centre-negative. Something about doing it that way makes it easier to not accidentally dump power straight into non-rechargeable batteries. There are a bunch of oddball cases out there in the world, but I think most of the conventions that go into resin 3D printers probably inherit from centre-positive traditions. 90% of the DC adaptors out there are centre positive, so you'd _probably_ be fine if you forget to check polarity.

    • @FizzerUK
      @FizzerUK 27 дней назад

FYI Just to add. In IT I have come across HP that do centre negative and Dynamo Label printers of all things both common 12v 24v!
Audio industry I understand but HP (the Power brick plug used to spark on the install chassis. no joke) and Dynamo are just being Marketing S..t H..ds 🙂

Honestly, I am happy for you that you first reviewed Nova3D. Now you can open GKTwo and enjoy what proper resin printer should be. Also, you will see what little difference there is between 14K (that isn't real 14K and even pixels aren't squared...) and 8K (GKTwo has 12K option, but there is not need for it)

I enjoyed the more relaxed vibe of this video. It was long but it didn't feel drawn out. Its cool seeing videos on the 3d printers that the manufacturers are sending you because it shows what's out there other than just the basic formula that most people including myself have (or at least it has recently). I also REALLY value your input on the properties of the resins you use in your videos because I've been trying to find the right tough resin for printing minis and have been having a weirdly hard time figuring out the differences between the ones I've been looking at. I've been planning on getting the sunlu toughness resin you showed in this video and would be really interested in knowing how you found it compared to others you've used. Overall I've been really happy to see all the new videos you've been making and I'm considering joining the buy me a coffee for a month or two for the print and paints as they seem like a really fun way to spend some time with the community.

I think the focus on features like 'fast' printing and auto-filling vats are targeted at more pro/semi-pro print farms, rather than hobbyists.
Cause yeah, as you said, it doesn't really matter to you how long a print takes, and this makes it _way_ more annoying to switch resin.
But if you are someone selling mini prints on etsy, you are just buying the same resin over and over in bulk, so there's no swapping and minimal vat cleaning.
And faster prints means more income per printer. Tho the 'fast' resin seems so brittle that IDK if etsy sellers would use it either, it looks like anything printed with it would shatter in transit.

Only one small thing about volts/amps and power draw: Most devices like this will draw variable amounts of power. The machine will turn on, but it might fail (and in a way that could screw it up) when it goes to run the motors, LCD, and LEDs. Make sure you've got the right voltage and _at least_ the required amperage. Someone else mentioned polarity and while you should doublecheck that the barrel plug matches the printer's power port, that's basically been standardized over the years. It'd be pretty weird for the polarity to be reversed.

All the videos I found were never explaining anything. Hell, I didnt even know about exposure range until I watched it. 20 mins videos dont help. That video was so helpful. I am ashamed to admit it but I sold my printer because I thought it was broken, now I suspect it was either the temperature, the supports or the exposer. I only got 3 prints out of it! Then sold it for parts. Whoops. Also, your minirater website is amazing!

I have a M3Max with auto filler, I have used it twice, just too awkward to use - cable & tubes too short to be able to move the bottle from the rear to the side. Plus in the UK during winter the resin in the bottle is too cold to add to the tank. Currently printing over night - temp outside is -4C, in the shed it's 3C and my printer cabinet enclosure is heated to 24C, with a vat heater on the vat fitted, and a bottle heater on the spare resin bottle for resin top ups. Oh the fun of 3D printing in the winter. It's FFFFFFFFF Freezing

Ive had anycubic, sunlu, and creality resin printers but ive always fallen back to Sunlu resin. Damn though, $900+ is steep when you look at the competition. Dont know if i could justify this over an elegoo for vastly cheaper.

In the event you've not been around commercial or industrial printers, a lot of the 'new' features we're now seeing on consumer printers are dribble-down features that have been around awhile, albeit done quite a bit cheaper on these class of machines. Heaters, water-cooled electronics and actual usable feed pumps (that are micro-controlled with active detection rather than filled like a gimmicky dog bowl bottle or don't take 20 minutes to pump out a small vat) are pretty standard fare on commercial rigs.
To my current knowledge with regards to Chinesium resin factories, there's four major producers of photopolymers, a few in Korea and Taiwan, and a handful between the US and Europe (mostly engineering grades or private label). Any large printer with self-branded resin comes from one of the four Asian factories, normally in the same plant as a competitor's. Machines and key parts are also shared between brands, especially control boards, LCD screens and to a point, chassis components.
SLA/LCD-based resin printers are a rather small, concentrated ecosphere with unfortunately little true individuality, as by and large there's not much to differentiate different machines other than aesthetics due to who makes mainboards, controls the software, etc. outside of customized add-on software.

Regarding the power cable, my understanding is there are basically only a handful (relatively speaking) of power supply sizes being made. When I got my printer, it used a US plug (that is where I bought it) but I needed an EU plug. I went to a hardware store and they had a bin just of cords for that power supply to EU.

Resin fillers are nice if you are like me and only print with one type of resin. I use elegoo 8k resin for my gktwo and anycubic mono 6k. But yes cleaning the system out after a failed print would be a nightmare. That being said I do like the idea of a pump that drains resin from a large vat (I've had too many spills tipping a heavy resin vat after a failed print) with a filter (to filter out misprints).
But again this would only work if you use one type of resin.

But great video none the less.

I feel like resin slicer makers need to go look at fdm slicers to get some of these convenience features.

I enjoyed the longer format, but I had some time to run in the background, usually I am a less than 10 minute sort of guy … who isn’t 😋

They can level a bed out of factory but they can't attach a lid? If I could build shit I wouldn't need a machine that made shit!

Have you ever tested the monocure tensile resin considering it's a australian product? Cant find any reviews on it , probably because it's on the more expensive side.. love your content btw, cheerz

Yes I have, there's a short segment on it in the video "We have Warhammer at Home" that I did a few months ago on the Creality Halot Mage Pro and DMG minis.
It's incredibly brittle and useless for miniatures.

Been resin printing now for a few months and I've never spun my build plate tension knob like that. There are some WIFI devices that can be sensitive to having special characters in your password or SSID. My Qidi iMates printer has this issue as well as some devices from Arlo my father installed on his network.

Not a fan of the standard fep being there, pfa (nfep) is superior in nearly all properties (marginally more expensive). But it is a minor issue to replace usually.
As for the faster print speeds. The biggest time consumer for resing printing is z rail distance, speed and accuracy. With more precise motors, better linear rails (the ball screws becoming more common is a good change), variable exposure slicing and temperature controlled vats (rather than enclosures); we should see a dramatic increase in speed at the same quality.

Some might say if you don’t like being exposed to resin residue, using a resin printer (no matter which brand) is going to be a bad idea.

Is your fep all scratched from the stuff dropping on it? Some of this build seems so quality and then others its a head scratcher

I am wondering why you don't have a uvtools calibration file earmarked for these times. I have started using it on my elegoo printer for new resins I haven't dialed in yet? I usually have it do a cones print in .1 increments from 1.9-2.9 in one print taking about 2 hours. I also have profiles for lower and higher values loaded to try if needed.

Don't worry they're still getting made, I'm just padding the time between them with more experimental/easier stuff like this. There's a new scripted video coming in just a few days actually, and I think it's gonna be a good one!
