Just reviewing the process. Done it 2x before on my Roper commercial, didn't have to take off cover, just tilt up 45' to get access. Last time I used the good halves of previous broken ones and it lasted 2+ years. In our triplex, its gets 6-7 loads/week. I bought 2 last time, for the next time. Thanks!
This was great! I got my washer apart but nothing in the coupling or forks looks broken. I’ll put a new set on just in case, but if that’s not it, what else could cause it to not spin out?
Great question Kaleen, If you don’t hear the motor during spin, you have a cracked case on your lid switch. It’s easy to fix with a zip tie. Let me know and I can send you a video on how to do it👍
Our Roper is about 14 years old and it leaves oily spots on my cotton t-shirts. I'm guessing I have a seal that's seeping. Have you encountered this and is there a fix?

You didn't say how you diagnosed the motor drive coupler. Experience told you, and that's good. I'm gonna get that experience soon, anyway ! Very good video, thank you! My machine washes and won't spin
The coupler has a steel insert, on the half that is on the gear box. The insert was obviously wrong at the factory, because it was too long to engage the spline,and was just barely on the egde of the plastic. I had to machine the sleeve so it would engage the plastic. It works perfectly. Easy fix. Thank you
My Roper starts with the water and will run the beginning wash cycle, but will not do the rinse cycle. If I set it to the spin cycle it also works. It's as if there is a dead spot in the know, but it is mid-cycle on permanent press, Normal, and gentle. It seems like some brain-box issue. What do you think?

I have the same model, but it says heavy duty | super capacity | 8 cycle | 2 speed combinations in the middle. don’t know if it’s the same issue because it’s been working for a long time but it stopped working very recently, I’m thinking it’s because I did start washing heavy blankets and stuff very recently (kitten will not care where to potty if it needs to go). I took my Roper washer apart and this coupler is not broken. My machine will fill with water and drain but does not spin or agitate. It sounds like it is maybe trying to spin and the motor is going but the clothes just sit. What else could it be?
Mine agitates and will spin without a load but as soon as there is a load, it will bog down. I can't spin it up by hand and something starts clicking on the controls until it shuts off altogether. I've replaced most everything (coupler, clutch, brake shoes and gearbox) and nothing has fixed it. I am at my wits end. I have no idea what else it could be.
Nice job Sean, Can you check to see if some clothing item got stuck between the spin basket and the plastic tub? Just need to pull off the cabinet and then pull off the the white plastic ring and fish out the clothing item with a straightened coat hanger 👍
@@QuickAndEasy5MinuteAppliance yeah, I've had both the inner and outer tub off. There's no clothing. It acts like a bearing is seizing up but there's no bearing in this one that I can see. Is it possible that the drive block is worn to the point that out let's the spin tub too close to the plastic tub?
@@QuickAndEasy5MinuteAppliance I FIXED IT! All I can say is that I will never NOT inspect my drive block again. Yes, the drive block was so worn out, it allowed the spin tub too bottom out on the outer tub. And all it took for me to learn this valuable lesson was a new gearbox, clutch, brake shoes, coupler, drive block and tub nut. 😂 💸💸💸💰
So our roper looks like this one, and it is tripping the breaker when it start to agitate. All the part you show in this video are good on our machine. Any idea what another issues could be?
Did you ever find a solution? Took mine sort today thinking the same thing but the coupler is intact. Won’t agitate or spin. Tripped the breaker on spin the first time and second time around it was stuck on spin and full of water
@@chrisscott8003 Yes we had to change the breaker. We just built the house in 2018 but apparently the breaker was no good. We gave the washer to his brother and they havnt had any issues with it since.
I had this problem with my roper years ago and it was the lid switch. Gotta be one someplace. Try calling the local repair place and ask them where it is. Good luck. I guess this being from a month ago, you probably already have it resolved...
Your lid switch might also be part of agitation. If the washer thinks the lid is open it won’t agitate. This is always true for spin and sometimes true for agitate.
@@QuickAndEasy5MinuteAppliance You was right. The connector that goes to the lid switch was slightly melted. I bypassed it temporarily until my new one comes in

So my agitator spins if i manually spin it but when clothes are in the basket, its as if the motor isnt strong enough to spin with the clothes...I've also tried running the washer without clothes in the agitator works fine. just when I add clothes it doesnt want to spin. Can anyone help me out? Also the tub spins to drain water as well. so i dont know what it can be.

You’re welcome. It should just lock when set for spin but not during fill or Agitate . I think the water level switch needs to be replaced. It’s supposed to tell the timer that it’s full and ready to Agitate. It’s not doing its job.

Leaning it back against the wall at 45 degrees is a great idea. Just make sure it’s supported so it can’t fall.
