I love my S9+. I've tried many robot vacs over the years and my S9+ has been my most reliable one. It very rarely gets itself stuck unlike other vacs do.

Does the s9+ go around socks or wires? I saw in an article that S9+ did not go around articles on the floor. Which is correct?
    Thank you

What do you guys do about static electricity. I get more hair sticking to the outside of the Roomba than what's being picked up. Maybe not that much but way too much. And this thing sucks at picking up hair around the edge of rugs. I do empty out the bin and blow out the filter every time I use it so I don't think it's clogged up. It does pick up hair. Even with a little hand held vac I have to pick up the leftover hair wants to stick to the outside. Is there a trick to get rid of the static electricity?

Are you still only having to empty the main collection tank once a month?

If you don’t want to spend as much, my dad got a Yeedi which has the tower and a mop attachment.
We’ve used lots of Roombas over the years so while they still have the best platform, I’f you only need hard floor cleaning the Yeedi is fairly cost effective despite its flaws

The engineering side of me along with the distrust in ai technology, makes me un easy with a upward facing camera that scans the whole room.... if the roomba is, let's say 5 inches tall it should never need a camera that captures more than 6 inches off the floor.
Side question is it possible to allow the roomba to scan the room one time and then put tape over the upward facing camera? Or does it need to scan the room with every time it vacuums?

Turns out you were right to distrust it. Roomba recently got caught leaking private photos of homes to contractors who were sharing the photos amongst themselves. They caught everything, naked people, etc. It’s a terrible technology.

How often do you run your roomba? I have two dogs and just upgraded to this robot and now I’m concerned that the bag will get full weekly if not sooner. I have two dogs that shed ALOT. My last room a I ran everyday and the bin was full everyday… I was thinking I may take it back and get the s9 without the emptying bin.

Although this thing does a good job vacuuming, it can’t even dock itself without a push 9/10 times. Pass on it!

HotshotTek, I see that your video is from about a year ago. I'm curious to know how it is doing now!
The reason why I'm curious is - my S9+ worked just fine for about 15 months and it was lightly used (no pets in my house.) At about 15 months (yes - 3 months after the warranty was up) it started to act up about the lid being open. I called customer service and, out of curtesy, they sent me a replacement lid saying that the suction when emptying the bin is too powerful and sometimes distorts the shape of the lid.
The new lid worked for a little while but then the error reappeared. Another curtesy bin lid later, I had zero success so I powered it off. Felt like kicking it every time I walked by the station. 3 months after powering it down, I decided to check it out again. Charged it overnight and tried in the morning and it worked like a charm!!!
It cleaned 4 rooms and then ran out of battery power. I emptied the bin manually - so as not to figure in the high suction issue - and charged it overnight again. This time the door open message reappeared. I've tried lifting the 4 pins gently, reinserting the bin and shutting the lid to ensure it was shut correctly but I haven't been able to use this roomba..
I welcome comments from people who may have run into similar issues and were able to resolve it and what they had to do in order to make it work.
Customer Service has offered me $100 trade-in for it if I buy a refurbished unit for about $500-600. I feel it is an unfair offer.

Mine is still working, I had to replace the motor however because my dog poop nuked it but I was able to swap the part to make it continue clean. Only cost me $80. Still good and solid.

@@HotshotTek So the tracking must not be the best if it didn't avoid dog poop? I have a large American bulldog. Nervous about paying the big price tag for the hoover to break if my dog has an accident. Also this model doesn't self clean the mop pads right?

This vacuum Was worth buying in 2019-2021 at the latest. It’s not worth buying now and iRobot lags behind the competition by quite a bit at this point. Don’t get me wrong I loved my roomba s9+ when I had it I even had the braava jet but the company just isn’t keeping up with its competition who are offering more features at a lower cost and the cleaning performance is either the same or better. I think roborock and maybe 2 or 3 other brands like eufy, dreame , narwal pull ahead of iRobot for practically everything to do with robot vacuums now. In addition roombas patent has expired so other companies are now doing the dual brush design like roborock. Mapping on other brands takes maybe 5-10 minutes on these brands while roomba might take 30-45 depending on the size of the house.
Personally if iRobot steps up I would happily switch back but until then I’ll stick with my new eufy X10 pro.
