While the band is obviously named after Jon, I never saw it as "Jon's band" - I always saw it as a partnership between him and Richie. Just TOO bad how that ended. I'm always hoping for them to reunite. 🤘😎👍
I believe, and I’m not 100% sure, that the triple neck was mandolin, 6 string, 12 string. This performance always gives me goosebumps. Jon and Richie’s voices were made for each other. And even though Richie’s no longer in the band, we have these moments to look back on with❤ Thanks, guys, for the great review, as always.
What a great time to be growing up. When we had REAL Rockstars, that played real instrumemts and were there to give their fans an experience of a lifetime. When you went to the shows you felt the energy and the love. I thank them all for such unforgettable experiences. I also thank the ones as I watch them enjoying these bands for the first time. It puts a smile on my face. Great react. Love and Rock and Roll!!!❤❤🤟🤟🎸🎸🎸
@Jd. I turned eighteen in April, 1986, and graduated high school just a month or two later. I most definitely agree with you in saying it was a great time to have grown up! I caught many rock concerts in the 80s and loved every one! Back then, Bon Jovi was my ultimate favorite, and I saw them with Cinderella on March 27th, 1987 in the former Omni in Atlanta. I was blown away!!
Interesting fact about Bon Jovi and their third album, they toured with KISS in 1985 as their opening act, and got allot of advice from Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley regarding the music business, he asked Paul if he could work on their next album, he advised to give Desmond Child a call, and thats how we got the iconic Bon Jovi album "Slipper When Wet".
Incredible performance from Jon and Richie and amazing guitar skills from Richie as well I was hoping to see more people react to this specific performance Bon Jovi at there best. Blood on blood and Wild in the streets from the same show are also awesome.
Great reaction! I haven't seen this version. Richie has an immaculate voice. I personally think he sings better than Jon. Both are great though. Jon got most of the attention as the lead singer.
@Jeffrey Flint Dude, you ain't lyin'!! I was at the Atlanta show, March 24th, 1987 in the former Omni. I was just one month shy of my nineteenth birthday and I'll forever fondly remember that amazing experience! Bon Jovi was my absolute favorite 80s band with Cinderella also being among my favorites, so, I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of both bands shows that evening. Wasn't the 1980s a truly wonderful time to be in your teens/early twenties?! Wow, I most certainly had a ball!!! 😛
@@jeffreyflint6286 So, you're a child of the 70s, huh? HOW AWESOME!! My favorite cousin is ten years older than I, and she's the one who taught me all about that iconic decade full of incredible music! It remains my absolute FAVORITE era of music, and I'm partial to not only one or two, but various styles. Were you lucky enough to catch any concerts back then? If so, holler back and let me know. I'd like to hear about some of the shows you may have attended. As always, I most definitely DO intend to keep on rockin', just as you suggested!!! 😊
@@April-ng2kx thank you. Actually I'm a child of the fifties lol. Drove my parents nuts with the Beatles and the rolling stones and then Jimi Hendrix and the like. Still rockin .
@@jeffreyflint6286 Thanks for your reply! What I meant by your being a child of the 70s was that that was your era as a tween/teen. You mentioned in your reply to my first post that you were twenty-eight years-old at the time of Bon Jovi's Slippery When Wet tour. And as I had stated I was one month shy of my nineteenth birthday in March, 1987, I knew you had to be about ten years older than I, dependant upon the actual month of your birth. Anyway, I guess I'm actually a child of the '60s, as I was born in 1968, but I also definitely consider myself a child of the '80s due to that particular time as being my high school years. Oh, by the way, I LOVE The Stones and I absolutely ADORE The Beatles!!! Again, what other shows might have you caught, at any point during your life? Just curious. Oh yeah, I meant to mention that I'm also a HUGE fan of Jimi! Gosh, how could I have ever forgotten about JIMI?!?! LOL! 😅
The guitar the master of disaster ,the king of swing is playin is an ovation triple neck ,the top guitar you called a little guitar and a banjo is a mandalin ,the second is a six string the third neck is a 12 string ,and the red guitar is a kramer jersey star candy red
You always highlight the vocal harmony between Jon and Richie, which was the signature sound of the band and made the band what it was. The whole band lost the north after Have a Nice Day, John Shanks destroyed everything after that record and Richie couldn't take it anymore. Now it's just Jon, David and Tico trying to fill the gap with a bunch of new people just saying yes to whateer Jon says.
Also a drunk that left the band high and dry by not showing up to concerts. So there they were, ready to play, and no Richie. Can you imagine the bind he left the band in? He was so erratic and unprofessional that Jon had to fire him. Jon had the other band members and employees to consider. So sick of the Richie worship.
Richie Sambora never had to go shop for mandolin strings in Moscow at 2 in the morning. No. That was Ian. There were no sex and drugs for Ian. (Spinal Tap riff)
Got love for both rhem guys..but sometimes I wonder how Bon Jovi was more famous that Richi lol..no shade tho. Richie is just such a serious talent. Way more than Bon, singing and guitar. Bon Jovi had them girls melting lol. That's what did it
Because Richie didn’t have the jt factor. At. All. If he did, he’d be the lead in a mega band. He didn’t have it. Plus, he was an erratic drunk that left the band high and dry by not showing up for concerts.
@@blakewigginssnewwavechanne404 Okay, thank you so much!!! Prob not on official release though, they seem to have very few of them. But maybe on bootleg/uploaded etc
Originally lineup was magic. Jon and Richie caught lightening in a bottle. Soul brothers

Epic? Hardly.

An erratic drunk that didn’t show up for concerts, leaving the band high and dry. That’s why he got fired. But keep on singing his praises.

Also, there were NO idiot phones to ruin things. One cannot get the real feeling of a concert through a 2 inch window.

The version that they did on the mtv awards is their best. It's just Jon and Ritchie.
Jon’s vocals on this are AMAZING! The best of the best! He has that perfect rock voice…scratchy, growly, full of emotion.

One of the best live guitar solos ever....

To get a measure of their vocals check out the acoustic version of Livin' on a Prayer/ Wanted Dead or Alive from MTV unplugged around 1989.
Richies Wanted behind Jons were amazing
Such an iconic opening ❤ loge rhis song
La mejor banda del World...
Mandolin on top!

When that was shown on TV I recorded it on VHS and watched it over and over. 😊
Richie is a great guitare player and also a fucking good backing vocalist

The little neck is a mandolin, which in the album was used in the intro of Wild is the Wind.
I actually prefer Richie Sambora’s vocals over Jovi’s. Plus he’s a totally underrated guitarist.
Vocals depends on which song but great guitarist
Oh please…😂😂😂
Sambora is so good and so underrated.
I’ve read that at least 10 times today. Geezus…give it up.
The steal horse is their tour bus. This song about going to work. Wanted dead or alive. Show up dead, just show up
Oh YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You guys need to watch the official video.
The 8 strings and neck length say mandolin for sure.
Is mandolin kinda like a "12 string" ukulele? Double strings, but maybe not octaves, rather just same strings doubled? And probably not ukulele tuning
The first would be a Mandolin :)

This was used in the soundtrack for the 1987 movie young guns.
They wanted to use it for the soundtrack but Jon didn’t think the lyrics fit so he wrote Blaze of Glory for it instead.
