This is a song that Jon wrote for his wife. Lot of metaphors here. The blond that gave him nightmares is his guitar (apparently he was struggling to write a song). He sleeps on a bed of nails because it's torture being without her. The mistress is the stage, he's not alone because he is with the crowd, but he's lonely because she is not with him. This is such a beautiful love song. And yes, Jon Bon Jovi is absolutely gorgeous, always has been.

True fact in 1982 Jon was a solo artist Going to all the New York radio stations with a song called runaway which turned into a hit, the problem was Jon didn't have a band and Quickly had to find a Lead Guitarist (Ritchie Sambora) a Bass player(Alec J Such) and a Drummer(Ticco Torres) The keyboardist(David Bryan) was a friend of Jon's who'd he played in bands with before and also did recording sessions with Jon.
Used to send this to my wife whenever I missed her because I lived in Germany and she was in England at the time. Favourite line is "so far away each step that I take is on my way home" because of my deployments all over the world. I used to send it and say go outside look at the moon and I would do the same and text "no matter how far away we are we can still see the same things".
Richie Sambora (guitarist) meant a lot for Jon (the singer), he helped him a lot with singing in Unison and Richie actually also did sing some of the songs. Unfortunately Jon did not take care of his voice, he has been through a vocal cord surgery and we hope he can be back again...
I'm not normally a big "lyrics" guy, but this song has a handful of some of the best lines ever written: "I dream about movies they won't make of me when I'm dead" "With an ironclad fist I wake up and French kiss the morning While some marching band keeps its own beat in my head while we're talking" "I wanna be just as close as The Holy Ghost is" "I'm so far away, that each step that I take is on my way home A king's ransom in dimes I'd given each night just to see through this payphone" "Tonight, I won't be alone But you know that don't mean I'm not lonely" Such great lyricism. Bon Jovi is my all-time favorite band am I'm glad that I got to enjoy it from the very beginning. My favorite part was taking 4-of my children to one of his concerts in LA about 10-12-years ago.
He is so handsome. Please keep reacting to more. They are one of my favorite bands of all time. You should also watch one of the many interviews he has done. Him and his wife are such giving people.
Rockers wrote the best love song and breakup songs. Could you react to KISS, I still love you, MTV unplugged 1995. Not many reactors have done it . Paul Stanley wrote after learning on the news his girlfriend at that time was getting married to an actor. A very heartfelt performance.
If you like this song you should check out the music video for Bon Jovi song Always. Another great song and video of his that sadly all too often gets forgot about but it's a really good one. They used to play that constantly on MTV back in the day when that song came out. He was at the height of his fame back then.
Can you imagine beeing a teenager in the audience, seeing this beautiful man (with a killer smile) play guitar and piano (which became his tools of trade when he was 13 and started earning in pubs), sing so sweetly and powerfully - and not fall in love? I'm a man in my 50s and whenever I see live performances from the 80s and 90s I fall in love all over again. Oh, it's no doubt a beautiful ballad. However, my favorite ballads from the band are "My guitar lies bleeding in my arms" "Dry county" and "I'll be there for you" and from Jon's solo projects "Santa Fe", "Dying", "Ugly" and - of course - "Blaze of Glory". When you listen, you'll know why.
Most great rock bands have ballads as well as up-tempo stuff. I think that helps make for great concerts, too - they give you time to catch your breath!
Hey Brittreacts, really appreciate what youre doing i'd like to suggest that you should really consider reacting to 'Always' by Bon Jovi, its their most longlasting song on the billboard charts, for me personally much a lighter 'love song' than bed of roses that you consider cheesy.
His duet with the late great cowboy Chris Ledoux out in Kaycee, Wyoming is a testament to his versatility. Also his acoustic set of Living on a Prayer, shows the bands talents. Great Review Britt! I knew the first time I heard a review of yours a year ago, that you would someday have a million subscribers.
Bon Jovi is the band most credited with bringing a female audience into the Rock genre. Other bands before them leaned into the "loud, angry, tough guy" trope and esthetic, but those blue collar pretty boys from New Jersey brought in women in DROVES. And yes, wherever they went, panties evaporated.
I grew up thinking the same about rock. I thought it was just a bunch of screaming & distorted guitar sounds. In the hood it was hip hop, r&b, pop & gospel mostly. The older I got, the more my music pallet extended beyond that because I stopped caring about what some of my friends thought. This was the first Bon Jovi song I'd ever heard at the age of maybe 9. I loved it at first listen! That opened my eyes more to the world of rock. I'm just a music head though. People are surprised when they find out how wide my music tastes go. I can find songs I love in almost any genre. Just depends on my mood. Could be rock one minute, hip hop, some country, gospel or orchestral the next, etc etc. Still listen to this now in my early 40's. Bon Jovi is dope!
Yes, I am gen x and all of us will tell you that as much as we may appreciate different music through the years, nothing compares to the music of the 80’s to us. Bon Jovi is one of my all time favorite bands. Their ballads tell stories and thrill rock is fun. The older they got, the more I loved their music, it grew with them/us…lol. This song is one of my favorites. I loved it when it came out and now so many decades later I love it more because this love letter written for his wife, he is still with her, last I heard.
@BrittReacts you should look up Jon & Richie’s version of Hallelujah. It’s pretty stripped down and honestly one of my favorite renditions of the song. I’ve never been able to find it anywhere except for on RUclips. It’s fantastic.
Aside from being great musicians, their songwriting skills were off the chart. Every song told a story that if you were growing up in the eighties you could relate to.
That’s why the phrase “music is a universal language” is so true!! The diversity makes it fun, but it’s when an artist delivers their version where you feel it in your soul, is definitely my favorite part! And that can be country, rock, anything Elvis and his magic touched every genre, Christian, hymns, opera…just music!
Jon Bon Jovi is a beautiful man inside and out. His songs and vocals, are Amazing. But also the band are truly brilliant the guitar and drums on this particular track just make it outstanding. Love your review’s britt, as you dont talk over the track, you respectfully pause and comment, in a articulate and enthusiastic, genuine way. Keep up the good work.
I dunno if these have been suggested before, but please check out these. Skid Row: "I Remember You" & "18 and Life" talk about belting out a ballad! Lead singer Sebastian Bach can do it. Yes that is his name. Both released in '89
Before Bon Jovi gave us Bed Of Roses, they gave us Silent Night. Don't let the title fool you. It's not what you think. It's the ultimate break-up song if there ever was one. This is a gem that hardly anyone mentions when talking about the band and hardly anyone actually does a reaction to the song. So, I urge you to check it out and give us your thoughts on it. Who's with me? Make Silent Night the next Bon Jovi reaction song for Britt?
Their second album was a commercial disappointment, so the band never really revisited those songs after touring that album. Which is probably why few people seem to remember those songs. Of course everything changed with the third album, Slippery When Wet, but that's another story. But in terms of Bon Jovi canon, it typically starts with Runaway and then skips ahead to SWW. That said, I agree Silent Night is a great song, with all the familiar hallmarks of Bon Jovi at their best. That and Secret Dreams holds up to anything they did later, in my opinion.
I think 7800% Fahrenheit was one of their better albums. In and Out of Love, Only Lonely, Tokyo Road, Secret Dreams etc. were killer tunes. Which also brings to mind, Shot Through the Heart is an all-time favorite from their first album. Not to be confused with You Give Love a Bad Name. They are to totally different songs which there are a lot of people don't know of the first one.
@@rantoppp I think perhaps the biggest issue with 7800 F was the production - it was considerably weaker than what Bruce Fairbairn would offer on the next one. Not that it ruins said songs in any way, but mr Fairbairn was a true master. The label went all in on the third album: Killer producer in legendary Vancouver studio, and one of the most sought after songwriters of the 80s. You don't see that kind of commitment from labels these days: Artists get one album, if they're lucky.
One of my all time lyrics is "a king's ransom in dimes I'd give each night to see through this payphone", such a beautiful way to tell someone that you miss them when you are separated
The best and hottest musician of all times but the best part of Jon is that he is a kind, sweet, and generous human being. I have had the pleasure of spending time with him on several occasions and saw that side of him. This is my favorite all time Bon Jovi song

In 2004 I purchased the "This Left Feels Right" album thinking it was a greatest hits album. I quickly found out it was slowed down acoustic versions of all of Bon Jovi's greatest hits. I hated it initially but it's now one of my favorite albums. Songs like It's My Life have a completely different vibe when they're performed acoustically.
At 57 now, I saw BJ first in 1982. And I have seen them a total of 8 times. EPIC concerts!! There is truly nothing better than our old music that was rocking, beautiful, meaningful and was from real and raw talented artists!! Jon and Richie are one of the best duos ever!!
People have said some really cruel things about Jon Bon Jovi's vocals in recent years. He actually had one of his vocal cords atrophy and had to have a major surgery in 2022 to reconstruct it. In this video he was at his best. Bon Jovi has recently released a new single called Legendary. For comparison it might be fun for you to give it a listen. As a long-time fan, I am hopeful that the surgery was successful and he can continue to do what he loves to do. ❤

Jon wrote this! These Rock ballads were written by true poets. Sung by angels❤❤❤❤
“Some day I’ll be Saturday night” is one of my favorite Bon Jovi songs.
The mistress is the stage in the spotlight. Song was written for his wife.
Brit would definitely love all of the rock ballads of the 80s.
This is old but gold. Love your reactions as always. I actually grew up on this music - glad to see someone appreciate it.❤
So good!
Miss britt your bon jovi journey is going to be one that your ears will never forgot
I like the duet he did with Jennifer Nettles for Habitat for Humanity a number of years ago.
Still my number one! For all time! Forever and a Day....
Song poetry- heart strung vocals and killer music
Most great rock bands have ballads as well as up-tempo stuff. I think that helps make for great concerts, too - they give you time to catch your breath!
Hey Brittreacts, really appreciate what youre doing i'd like to suggest that you should really consider reacting to 'Always' by Bon Jovi, its their most longlasting song on the billboard charts, for me personally much a lighter 'love song' than bed of roses that you consider cheesy.
Totally Agree !
His version, of Hallelujah is great
I used to sing Karaoke, on weekends.. the KJ asked me to learn this song to do WITH her, as a duet ...
His duet with the late great cowboy Chris Ledoux out in Kaycee, Wyoming is a testament to his versatility. Also his acoustic set of Living on a Prayer, shows the bands talents. Great Review Britt! I knew the first time I heard a review of yours a year ago, that you would someday have a million subscribers.
love this song Jon great on the vocals and Ritchie such a great guitarist deserved his solo spot.
Steve Perry's voice and Jonathan Cain's lyrics brought them in before this.
So beautiful this song. My favourite.
Britt, i hope you and your family are well and best wishes to the little one.
Love you videos ❤
Check out “Always”, a beautiful ballad, sure you will enjoy, too!
How lucky many of us matured along with this rock genre! We also matured through R&B alongside rock! What a great experience!
@BrittReacts you should look up Jon & Richie’s version of Hallelujah. It’s pretty stripped down and honestly one of my favorite renditions of the song. I’ve never been able to find it anywhere except for on RUclips. It’s fantastic.
Man he is fine!! Always was and really still is! It is not just his looks it is his music and his devilish grin!
One of my Bon Jovi faves ❤️
Jon Bon Jovi is a beautiful man inside and out. His songs and vocals, are Amazing. But also the band are truly brilliant the guitar and drums on this particular track just make it outstanding. Love your review’s britt, as you dont talk over the track, you respectfully pause and comment, in a articulate and enthusiastic, genuine way. Keep up the good work.
.....what the dang heck. She just pauses it and sang...ONN A BEDDD OFFF NAILSSS.
NIIIIICE.
Millie Bobbie Brown is engaged to his son, Jake Bongiovi. He's the spitting image of his father. It's freaky looking at him.
Jake looks like his mother
@@peppermintcrush5794 ok
Jake looks the most like his Dad! It’s uncanny.
@@serpephone It's freaky...lol
I dunno if these have been suggested before, but please check out these.
Skid Row: "I Remember You" & "18 and Life" talk about belting out a ballad! Lead singer Sebastian Bach can do it. Yes that is his name. Both released in '89
"Someday I'll Be Saturday Night" is a great Bon Jovi song to react to!! Love me some Richie Sambora!!! Yumm!!!
Yes!
Yes! I am with you...
This was an awesome gig and I recommend watching the whole thing in your own time. It’s called “An evening with Bon Jovi”
Great to see your age group loving this, sorry you missed such a great time in music.
***WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE*** Official vid ruclips.net/video/SRvCvsRp5ho/видео.html&pp=ygUdYm9uIGpvdmkgd2FudGVkIGRlYWQgb3IgYWxpdmU%3D We LOVED Bon Jovi when he had all that hair and a baby face, find the pink poster, it was on my wall for years, he was adorable! This song was featured on soundtrack of movie Young Guns that had many iconic actors doing the cowboy western thing and we lovvved that, too but it's really about being an entertainer on the road and stuff.
Yes, this is definitively better, much, MUCH BETTER than todays pop and mainstream music
YOU ARE TRULY IN BY A LEAGUE OF YOUR OWN AS A MAN AND ABSOLUTELY IM NOT SEPARATING YOU APART FROM THE REST BUT IVE COME TO RESPECT THAT YOUR OPENING UP THE DOOR FOR OTHER WOMEN AROUND THE ENTIRE WORLD DARLIN ❤🌏
Iconic song ❤❤❤❤ Always Loved It..
Learning new music genre is so much fun I’m a rocker at heart but there are so many other good musicians out there here is one to check out rag n bone man with pink it’s awesome
He should've got the surgery years ago. He really did sound rough for the last decade or more.
I have two tattoos. One symbolizes my late husband, and the other symbolizes Jon Bon Jovi. That tells how I feel about him. I once commented he was the President of the PDC,
I'm someone who loves singling out lines in a song and this song is full of great lines. There is one however that I want to point out. The second verse he says I'm so far away every step that I takes on my way home. Then the next line I absolutely love. A king's ransom in dimes I'd give each night to see through this payphone. I think those lines are so amazing
Big Jay Oakerson - Guilt
Shayne Smith - How To Get Banned From Karate
Jay Larson - Wrong Number
Josh Sneed - Garage Sales
I am melting .. nothing more need to be said ❤️🔥
Oh this is one the greatest rabbits you going to find, bon jovi is the music that is in a group by self nothing like bon jovi cause the man didn't ever sell out his ways, to me bon jovi is one of the sound tracks of my life his entire career is just all good it's like nothing can pull him down bon jovi is a power balled hair band at the same time hard rock balled this man is power ballad
PREACH! I love what u said about subject matter, talent, etc.🙌

That’s because Bon Jovi was a phenomenon, a revolutionary kind of music 🎶
Great rock bands perform Great ballads. Their powerful voice makes a big difference.
Power ballads were absolutely beautiful and Bon Jovi and Steve Perry knew how to sing them with such passion,They told us a story about their lives and relationships,Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora had such a smooth harmony,Plus easy on the eyes,We had the best music and artists of all times,Sadly I don’t feel the way they made me feel about music anymore unless I listen to the music they gave us so long ago but like yesterday to.
"A king's ransom in dimes I'd give each night to see through this pay phone." Always gets me!
