Everybodies jaw was dropping when they performed this live. I mean EVERYBODY. This just may be the best live performance ever on MTV. Walk out there and freakin' kill it. They sure did. This performance has gone down in history.
Totally correct. I was a senior in high when I saw it on TV live and it was amazing. Nobody completely realized just how good these two were then and their harmonies and playing was top shelf. Arguably ushered in the "MTV Unplugged" era, too.
In my opinion, Richie was the magic ingredient that made Bon Jovi great. Him and Jon are just so good together. Also worth mentioning, this performance is often claimed to be the inspiration behind the MTV "unplugged" series
IF YOU WANNA BE A (REAL) MUSIC STAR THIS IS HOW YOU MUST SING AND PLAY. RICHIE AND JON JUST HAD THE PERFECT CHEMISTRY TOGETHER. ONE OF THE BEST LIVE PERFORMANCE EVER...
This performance is what gave MTV the inspiration for the Unplugged series. I saw an interview with Jon Bon Jovi where he said that this was the very end of a long tour for them. They were tired and just wanted to go home so instead of setting up all the gear, they just did a jam session like they would do on the tour bus in between towns. It was a totally impromptu performance and it's legendary.
Dare I say it. Richie and Jon belong on a list of the most iconic vocal harmonies of all time alongside The Bee Gees, Boyz II Men, Lennon and McCartney, the eagles. No rock band from that decade had an instantly recognizable vocal duo like them two.
These two are vastly underrated as both vocalists and musicians. They harmonize as well as any duo in modern rock history and this performance was especially striking since it didn't allow any margin of error (it was just the two of them and a couple guitars singing two huge hits). Ushered in the "MTV Unplugged" era, arguably...great reaction! Love your channel...
Hey Guys! Wow, yes, indeed...this definitely was magical and I thank your Subscriber who brought it to everyone here by making the request. I have heard Jon on SiriusXM talking about the day that they wrote this song. As he described it, he went over to Ritchie's Mom's house (obviously he was still living at home at the time) and they sat down on the basement floor next to the washing machine and cranked it out in like 30 minutes flat. So cool, and I agree that these two were a match made in heaven and they deserve all the credit in the world for doing what they were born to do, and to have done it SO well over the years. Truly AMAZING!
They turned this version of Living on a Prayer into Prayer 94'..which I like alot more than the original! This performance is also what inspired MTV Unplugged.
You hit the nail on the head when you said “their voices were made for each other”. Like two halves of a whole 🤔☯️❤️ Thanks guys, keep up the great work!
That implies that Jon didn't have the talent. Remember that he had a #1 single and multi-platinum album away from the band both titled "Blaze of Glory", and a successful solo career overall.
Supposedly this performance is what MTV based it's "Unplugged" series which Bon Jovi never did. They had a show An Evening with Bon Jovi which was awesome.
Richie albums are Stranger in this town, Undiscovered Soul, and Aftermath of the lowdown. There’s about 30 years between 1st and 3rd so they sound very different. But well worth a listen to 👍🏻
Aaaaaand they were about to break up for several years. A sign of things to come, as Richie Sambora (the guitar player) left the band in '13. But you are 100% correct. Those two together, something special. The band hasn't been the same without him.
I was wondering if this was the version that became MTV Unplugged. I remember watching this, I was a lil shit. Slippery When Wet was my first album, I was 10.
Medley is the word you were looking for. XD Parts of one song blended with parts of another. They changed the actual melody of the chorus of Livin on a Prayer, but it was still nicely in tune with the rest. Richie Sambora, the guitarist, was married to Heather Locklear. They had a daughter who’s gotta be in her mid-twenties now. He was also with Denise Richards for a long time. Idk why I know all this!
In my town in Australia 'Livin' on a Prayer' was still played in one if the clubs about 10 years ago Nd probably still is and towards the end of the night and everyone screams the lyrics 😆😁😄😃💯💫
You should see their performance in Moscow in 2012. Ritchie plays a triple guitar with a mandolin, 6 string acoustic & a 12 string acoustic. Then he finds time to do the solo on electric. Amazing performance.
Back in the day we didn’t have any fancy ways of describing it other than talent. This was before auto tune was there to cover up the fact that you sounded like a cat in heat being ran over with a cheese grater when trying to “sing”. They released a very similar version of this called Prayer 94.
Just to say you keep referring to bon jovi as he. Bon Jovi is not a person its a band led by Jon bon jovi. Richie Sambora co-wrote and co-produced the vast majority of their catalogue over almost 30yrs
You should react to Wanted Dead or Alive live from Moscow 1989. It is the rock version with amazing guitar playing intro and rock solo by Richie. One of their best performances of Wanted. Thanks.
Bonjovi is one of those bands that while good to very good in studeo is great live (journey is another band like that for example, or AC/DC). If you want to react to something cool and Bon Jovi related, look for a video where Jon Bonjovi does a kareoki prank on some of his fans.
Richie Sambora had to do a lot of the back up vocals on the album that both of these songs came from because they had been touring for 2-3 years straight & Jon Bon Jovi was having trouble with his vocal cords trying to lock up on him & they were injecting steroids into his neck to keep his vocal cords from locking up . Richie Sambora has an amazing singing voice as well as Jon Bon Jovi's , you should check out Richie Sambora's solo album Stranger In This City . Listen to the title track & then the song One Light Burning .
I don't know why so many are so focused on Sambora's voice. Sure, he has a great voice but man. JBJ is really overlooked in these comments. He had an unique voice.
Probably because Jon is the vocalist and is *supposed* to have a good voice, whereas Richie is the guitarist yet his voice is actually "lead singer" worthy, which surprised some people.
@@TheOzdivo Richie voice was powerful but reminds that, not being the lead singer, he stressed the vocal chords far less than Jon, so he suffered less problems over years.
I don't know if it was that performance or not but the original MTV unplugged was started from those two doing either that performance or one like it. This set the bar for performers against all of the lip sync boy band dance troop performers that eventually destroyed an industry. Hopefully music will return to greatness.
Everybodies jaw was dropping when they performed this live. I mean EVERYBODY. This just may be the best live performance ever on MTV. Walk out there and freakin' kill it. They sure did. This performance has gone down in history.
This performance I believe it was spawned the idea for the "Unplugged" series on MTV..which everyone alive back then knows how great and big that was!

Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora LEGENDS
Richie Sambora is a great singer in his right has released 3 really good solo albums well worth checking out
RSO- Radio Free America had a few really good songs too. He's got a new record expecting to drop in the fall this year.
Richie Sambora is so underrated in every way! He's got some great solo work that's worth checking out!
Jon and Richie together were amazing. I remember seeing this at the time and it's such a great performance !
Incredible voices...Richie Sambora´s voice is stunning. This performance was the beginning of the unplugged era, for MTV. There´s a cool story behind.
Those guitars are gorgeous!
“I’ve been everywhere
Still I’m standing tall
I’ve seen a million faces
And I’ve ROCKED THEM ALL”
Might be the best lyrics in all of rock and roll
WOOOOOW has such another deeper meaning now Years later for Jon and all!
This performance is what gave MTV the inspiration for the Unplugged series. I saw an interview with Jon Bon Jovi where he said that this was the very end of a long tour for them. RS was as much responsible for Bon Jovi's success as JBJ. Two Titans.
JBJ, RS, & Desmond Child have all been inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Dare I say it. Richie and Jon belong on a list of the most iconic vocal harmonies of all time alongside The Bee Gees, Boyz II Men, Lennon and McCartney, the eagles. No rock band from that decade had an instantly recognizable vocal duo like them two.
And lets hear it for Richie Sambora! Those two voices...pure magic!
Give Richie's solo album "Stranger in this Town" a listen...... He's one of the best guitarists/vocalists in the world imho ...
That’s why Bon Jovi has never been the same since Richie left in 2013 💔💔
Because together they were ❤️🔥
I've heard Jon say that when himself and Richie song together it's special. To him. And yes I know them
Raw and powerful. One of the greatest live performances on a music awards show! Nobody today can do that....
These two are vastly underrated as both vocalists and musicians. Richie has a perfect voice for this song.

This is Jon and Richie at the top of their game! Amazing!
Sambora melhor guitarrista de todos os tempos sem dúvida nenhuma
The king of swing Richie Sambora, my favorite bon Jovi song
So glad you guys have been doing Bon Jovi reactions, I love them so much. I’m a huge fan, Richie and Jon are the best duo ever
I sure loved growing up in the 70's & 80's & beyond, And I do like Bon Jovi and growing up with there music, Great songs here.
Sambora, the most under rated guitarist out there. Jon had the ambition/vision, Richie had the talent.
That implies that Jon didn't have the talent. Remember that he had a #1 single and multi-platinum album away from the band both titled "Blaze of Glory", and a successful solo career overall.
His guitar player is Richie Sambora who has a couple of Albums on hi own
Supposedly this performance is what MTV based it's "Unplugged" series which Bon Jovi never did. They had a show An Evening with Bon Jovi which was awesome.
Jon Bon jovi is awesome, but Richie Sambora is pretty doggone good too. They really matched up great!
Back in the day MTV played the video 14 times a day
Richie albums are Stranger in this town, Undiscovered Soul, and Aftermath of the lowdown. There’s about 30 years between 1st and 3rd so they sound very different. But well worth a listen to 👍🏻
Undiscovered soul is a great album!!
I absolutely love this version ❤❤❤❤❤
This performance inspired the MTV series “Unplugged” !
Richie Sambora has such a gift, like Jon Bon Jovi. They harmonize SO well. Great talent & performance!
Aaaaaand they were about to break up for several years.
A sign of things to come, as Richie Sambora (the guitar player) left the band in '13.
But you are 100% correct. Those two together, something special.

This was amazing. It blew everyone's mind at the time
🤘🤘❤🤘🤘 This takes me!!!! Ahhhhhh Nostalgia!!!!! 😁❤✌
Richie has amazing vocals and a phenomenal guitarist
Need to do wanted dead or alive live in moscow 1989
Awesome performance 😍 the day when unplugged era was born. And if you love the guitarist Richie Sambora react to Dry county live
I was wondering if this was the version that became MTV Unplugged. I remember watching this, I was a lil shit. Slippery When Wet was my first album, I was 10.
I’m lucky enough to be old enough to remember watching that live
Medley is the word you were looking for. XD Parts of one song blended with parts of another.

Great tunes....😎👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This song played live on the MTV music awards set in motion the MTV UNPLUGGED show that was such a huge hit.
Amen it was practice 60 80hrs a week to get there. No auto tune indeed!
Those two were absolute magic. No dynamic duo out there like Jon and Richie were!
Thank you, Jake!
I'm so thankful I grew up in the 70s and 80s we had the best music and movies and women
In my town in Australia 'Livin' on a Prayer' was still played in one if the clubs about 10 years ago Nd probably still is and towards the end of the night and everyone screams the lyrics 😆😁😄😃💯💫
Like Axl and Slash, Richie Sambora and Jon Bon Jovi had an amazing chimestry on stage back in the '90
Jon and Richie >>>>>> Axl and Slash
Jon & Richie are an another level, they both sing, compose and play guitar
You should see their performance in Moscow in 2012. Ritchie plays a triple guitar with a mandolin, 6 string acoustic & a 12 string acoustic. Then he finds time to do the solo on electric. Amazing performance.
wow amazing!!!!!
nice The Wolf HunterZ from philippines with love.
Just not the same without richie 😢 The chemistry isn’t there
Hey guys check out Richie Sambora’s single Stranger in this town.
Singing was part of being a musician in those days...you HAD to have had genuine talent...great songs and long awesome hair..lol. had to have it.
Back in the day we didn’t have any fancy ways of describing it other than talent. This was before auto tune was there to cover up the fact that you sounded like a cat in heat being ran over with a cheese grater when trying to “sing”. They released a very similar version of this called Prayer 94.
This performance is from the 1989 mtv video music awards and they were rehearsing and couldn’t decide which song to do when a worker suggested do both
Phenomenal!

Richie hit EVERY pinch harmonic in that solo. Truly one of the best performances of this song

Ritchie Sambora is a beast!!! But was not as marketable as Bon Jovi for some reason. We are all benefactors of them finding one another.
It was mostly timing. Richie's solo career started in late '91 when grunge was beginning to take over.
bed of roses 1992 the official video
Richie Sambora was just as talented or really more so than John. :)
excellent ty ty ty

Bon Jovi-Blaze of Glory Live 1991 Academy Music Awards is definitely worth watching!
YES!!!!!!!!!
Yes please
I wish I could like this video more 😂❤
This was the performance that started , MTV UNPLUGGED .
Side note. During this performance they weren’t talking for months- hated each other
This presentation inspire MTV create the unplugged project for many artists...
Richie, the guitar player, is the better singer of the two. His solo stuff is soulful, and just amazing
PLEASE REACT TO BON JOVI - LET IT ROCK (SORRY FOR CAPSLOCK BUT ITS SO UNDERRATED AND A VERY VERY VERY GOOD SONG)
Lol!!!
Jon bon jovi and richi sambora did great songs together
Young Guns 2 💥💫💙
wow this acoustic version is pretty cool / some heart touching history
my faourite track is Bed of roses
These dudes were the beginning of my puberty

@@TheOzdivo we have plenty of rock vocalists with terrible voices
@@TheOzdivo Richie voice was powerful but reminds that, not being the lead singer, he stressed the vocal chords far less than Jon, so he suffered less problems over years.
We all know JBJ is amazing so can't RS get a little extra attention sometimes?
Agreed. So odd and actually annoying.
Gracias @ ellos muchos artistas subieron su popularidad con los desconectados
Jon n Richie, best duo🤟❤️🇮🇩
Do a reaction vídeo to Richie Sambora - Stranger in this Town.
EPIC
you can tell Richie Sambora gets his guitar influence from his hero Stevie Ray Vaughan.
Sambora is the man
You need to react to Undiscovered Soul from Richie Sambora’s album of the same name.

because this performence mtv started mtv unplugged...
They need to go back to it
Richie vocal ❤ Jon 💥
If you want to check out some PHENOMENAL harmonizing....check out The Bee Gees Too much heaven. Or any of The Bee Gees songs!!!!

Please listen to Bon Jovi Something To Believe In from Yokohama 1996. It’s amazing and worth reacting to.
You have to react to the official video of the songs.
Early GuyZ
Richie Samburo doesn’t get the respect he deserves because they were pop

When Bon Jovi was the shit...
Jon and Richie togheter Killer
Jon was good, but Richie takes my breathe away
