Richie Sambora's backing/secondary vocals are so vital to so many of Bon Jovi's songs. He's great on his own as well, but how their voices complement each other is the kind of thing that gives you goosebumps. And while I know that there are more technically difficult guitar solos, the crunchy, pure rock sound of Richie's solo does something to my blood, always has and always will.
There's something about this guitar solo. I can't explain it, its just fire - gives you a rare feeling. There's a couple of others that do that for me too - Alice in Chains Jerry Cantrell's solo in "Man in a Box" comes to mind, Matthias Jabs in Scorpions "No One Like You" is another. Maybe not super technical, but perfect choice of melody and impact.
I was going to highlight the exact same things. To me it's Samboras best solo. So powerful. It's the pitch harmonics and the way it just ends in those power chords. Just awesome. And Samboras vocals make the song.

The absolute best version of this song is the "acoustic live from MTV", where Jon and Riche took turns doing the lead vocals and also did "Living on a prayer". The harmonies and Richie's lead vocals are awesome!😊

Absolutely LOVE Bon Jovi!! This song is the band's anthem, all about being on the road. And yes, they've seen a million faces, and definitely rocked them all!!! The thing I love about Bon Jovi is that many songs by them are about the darker side of rockstar life. They show how hard it is to be away from fam in "Bed of Roses" and "Always", they show the difficulties of life in "Living on a Prayer", "Keep the Faith", and "Runaway", and just how life on the road is hard in this song. Plus, they also give back to their community in "Who Says You Can't Go Home". Yeah, they have other songs like "Bad Medicine", "You Give Love a Bad Name", and "Lay Your Hands on Me", but they just don't resonate with me as much as the more touching songs. The Bon Jovi catalogue is HUGE, and has some great pieces for all lovers of music
I think nearly everybody on the planet has heard "Livin' on a Prayer." But on the slim chance that you may be one of the 2 or 3 people on Earth who haven't, that would be a great next listen. Another good one is "It's My Life." Love your reactions.
Those were the exact two I was thinking of. I especially like how the lyrics in "It's My Life" refer back to characters introduced in "Livin' on a Prayer."
One of the best of many songs out there about what it was like to be a rock star: glamorous from the outside, but exhausting in reality. Great reaction!
A song about the never-ending vicious cycle of a high in demand rock band, never getting a break from touring and performing. The burnout that ensues, but the wheels of rock star fame and fortune never stop rolling, along with the record labels push to keep feeding the money machine.
its just NOT . is it . good yes . Don’t cheapen GREAT . you want a list of GREAT Guitarists ? well Ricky ain’t on it . Nobody even his Mother would say GREAT .
Great reaction as always! Please please check more of them. If you like that western feel, Blaze of Glory is another amazing song. But you can’t go wrong with anything by them.
They have been my favorite band since 1983. That's the year they came out. Every stage of my life seems to have a bon Jovi song attached to it. I have seen them five times in concert. Those are the five best concerts I've ever seen. And I've seen well over 150 concerts in my life. I got stood up for the fourth time I saw them. So I called a friend of mine and asked her if she was sitting down. She was stubborn and she kept saying no. Just tell me. I said well I have a spare ticket to bon Jovi. She screamed for about 3 minutes. And when she finally came back on the phone out of breath, they said I told you to sit down. I picked her up after she got off work and as we were heading to the concert I asked her what the best band she ever saw was. She said I've seen this band in this band and this band, but none of them were overpowering. Overpowering. She said who's the best band you've ever seen in concert and I said bon Jovi. She just kind of smiled. We got to the concert. Got to our seats and the stadium was about half full. She noticed that it wasn't packed. I said it will be. Then Daughtry opened for bon Jovi. At the end of the performance I said wow! I think that's the second best opening band I've ever seen. She said who was the best opening band you've ever seen. I said bon Jovi. She just kind of smirked at me. Then she ran to the restroom. When she came back, I said do you notice anything? She said no what. I said. Do you see an empty seat? She looked around and said oh my gosh where did everybody come from? I said it's bon Jovi. She smacked me on the arm I think. After the concert was over, and it was the best performance I'd seen out of the five I've watched. I simply asked her one question, so, what's the best concert you've ever seen? She smiled and said bon Jovi. I noticed that you did bed of roses on your channel as well. So one more piece of that concert. The concert was where the coyotes used to play. After Richie sambora saying I'll be there for you while Jon cooled off, a spotlight focused where center ice would be. Jon was there with a headset on to sing with. They started singing bed of roses. Jon was walking from sunrise to the stage with his hands held out to either side so he could touch as many of his fans as he could while he made his way back to the stage. The one thing you need to know about Jon Bongiovi is that he loves his fans as much as we love him. He is also a philanthropist who has donated a tremendous amount of money, time and effort to helping The less fortunate.
The Whitesnake tour around the time, this song was written, started in June 1987 and ended in August 1988. With only two breaks due to total exhaustion of the singer after a stomach virus and a back surgery some monthes later. Nearly every day in another hotel, the only days at home when you tour close to your hometown. I have tour itineraries from that time in my collection where you can read details like 500 miles in the tour bus after show, check in to the hotel at 10 am, check out 6 hours later (and hand written by the bass player 2 hours promotion in a music shop during these 6 hours), soundcheck, show and another 500 miles in the bus...
They were the best band in the world in the 80s and 90s. I loved that era. They did so many gigs and it wore them out and this song shows how much of a drain it was but they rocked us and I will always be in their debt.
I like "Dead or Alive". But Bon Jovi have soooo many great hits (including Jon's solo career) that this one is not even on my TOP 10. "Livin On A Prayer", "Born To Be My Baby", "Always", "In These Arms", "Bad Medicine", "Blaze of Glory", "I'll Be There for You", "This Ain't A Love Song", "Bed of Roses", "It's My Life", "Miracle"...these are all great songs and I could have keeping going.
This song was so popular because it diverged from their normal rock sound and because of Richie Sambora’s prominent acoustic guitar and backup vocal. “Little Runaway” was their first hit which (rightfully) burst them on the scene. “You Give Love a Bad Name” was the anthemic song that had us all chanting along in school.
I get what you're saying Aileen , It's putting on a smiley face doing daily thing's , whether it's rocking a million faces , or being on the RUclips stage or just trying to make your friends laugh at work , All while life happens , it drains you
I saw Bon Jovi open up for Ratt back in 1985 before Bon Jovi released the album with this song on it (Slippery When Wet) and became super famous. Bon Jovi didn't have any huge hits at that time so they had to work to win over the crowd. All I can say is they put on one hell of a show and definitely won over a bunch of new fans. They guys in Ratt on the other hand were WASTED haha. I'm not sure how many Budweisers Stephen Pearcy slammed during their show but despite that they still brought down the house. That was a great night!
Jon Bon Jovi is a great singer and songwriter. The best demonstration of this is the album Blaze of Glory (unofficial soundtrack for Young Guns 2). If he has a cowboy alter ego, that album channels it.
So much you could say about Bon Jovi, but I'm sure you'll get plenty of that from others. Just a couple things I would like to say. Another song, that for whatever reason, Jon Bon Jovi did solo for the soundtrack of the western movie "Young Guns 2", called "Blaze Of Glory", which has a very similar vibe. Great song that was a huge hit in like 1990, or whenever that was. I had the single on audio cassette, and listen to the hell out of it! It and this song are two of my very favorites of theirs. The other thing is that I don't think you've done any Bob Seger yet, but one of my very favorites of his is "Turn The Page", which is another song that's reflective of being on the road, and that whole thing, and it's been covered by Metallica, which maybe you've heard.
One of the songs that made me pick up guitar. I was 14 and cowboys were damn cool. It is actually a really fun song to play on guitar. I still think Richie Sambora is a way underrated guitarist. Not among professionals, but yes, too few people see it, he is awesome.
"You Give Love a Bad Name" and "Livin' on a Prayer" are of course their main ones. But "Runaway" is good too. And "Keep the Faith" is ok, even if its 90's by then.
8:12 I've always liked Bon Jovi's softer side with LeAnn Rimes in the duet "Until We're Not Strangers Anymore" or his singles "Thank You" and "You want to make a Memory ". 😊😊😊
Seen them live multiple times from Dallas, Houston, West Coast, East Coast love their cross over Rock it's all still some of the best Rock for sure thanks for the reaction Aileen -suggested next, living on a prayer -cheers,
My favorite ❤️ part is while singing “I seen a million faces” at the crowd. You haven’t been living under a rock by never hearing a song from 40 years ago. Actually, you know more than your peers.
I loved your commentary of this song. You can so relate to the Rockstar as they’re on the stage. And I was feeling it there at the end. Very emotional, more than I expected.
Bon Jovi (& honestly, many more of these hair/glam bands) were not taken seriously & often were the brunt of jokes as not being "rock". My friends in high school didn't see that at all; we listened to everything from The Who, Boston, Skynyrd, Journey, Van Halen, Scorpions, Metallica, Frampton, Bad Company,..& Bon Jovi etc. These guys were just cranking out rock-n-roll...& we jammed to the best on Friday/Saturday nights cruisin the strip back in the mid-80s!! 😎🤟
I left school and started an apprenticeship in 1986. The first year involved living in digs away from home during the week. I had a little cassette boom box on my bedside table in my room of that house, and Slippery When Wet and the first three Marillion albums were about the only tapes I owned back then. I listened to this song and album *A LOT* during that year!
My first big concert was this tour and this was the #1 song at the time. For the first encore it was Ritchie Sambora playing some tasty blues stuff on his double-necked Kramer, settling into D, then launching into Wanted. Amazing show. Cinderella opened. The second encore had Bob Rock come out and they jammed more songs. The show was in Vancouver, and Bob Rock produced the album there.
Seriously one of the artists i listened to when I was ten, bon jovi, Phil Collins, Aerosmith, Bruce Springsteen , def leppard, just some of a kids playlist, aka cassette tapes.
I love Bon Jovi, it was one my first cassettes I bought at 13 years old. Slippery when wet doesn't have a bad song on it they are all great, you could the first one to do "Let It Rock!!!!!!!!!
Ah this is my childhood haha. I think what I love most is Jon's humanity - he's forever doing fund-raisers to feed people & such. Bom Jovi are just such iconic 80s Can't wait for more Shirazz_au
i had 3 older sisters, and bon jovi was my middle sister's favorite band so i grew up hearing tons and tons of bon jovi. wanted dead or alive is one of my favorite bon jovi songs. my dad always called bon jovi "baby making music", but there are a few classics that are must listens: runaway never say goodbye you give love a bad name livin' on a prayer lay your hands on me i'll be there for you born to be my baby always and some of my favorite lesser known songs: let it rock stick to your guns wild is the wind blood on blood i'd die for you
Some of my Favorite Bon Jovi Songs - Runaway. Livin' on a Prayer, You Give Love A Bad Name, Bad Medicine, Living In Sin, Keep The Faith, In These Arms, I'll Sleep When I'm dead, It's My Life, Thank you For Loving Me, Lay Your Hands On Me, Always, I Believe
I first heard this song in an episode of Miami Vice (S03E07 El Viejo) where Willie Nelson played an old retired Texas Ranger. This song was perfect for that episode. Willie was an old cowboy, just like the song.
In 1987-89, Bon Jovi owned the world. No band was bigger. Arguably Guns And Roses had a good run at the same time too,... but nobody was selling the records or tickets that this band was. Not to mention these cats were way more heartthrob than GNR. Front-row of girls passing out like they were seeing The Beatles, was the norm in every city they hit.
Jon BonJovi wrote this song & Blaze of Glory for the movie Young Guns 2 with Emilio Estevez, Kiefer Sutherland, Lou Diamond Phillips, Charlie Sheen. A story about Billy the Kid. Jon does his first acting cameo in the movie as well. One of my favorite movies & must see!
You should check out the soundtrack of the movie Young Guns 2. All Jon Bon Jovi. Main song is Blaze of Glory, but the whole album is good. Bon Jovi were at their best in the 80s into the 90s. That was their golden times, with many classics. Bed of Roses voted as one the most romantic songs of all time 👍 Rock on
Listen, I'll be 63 years old in June, and I have been rockin' to Bon Jovi since the early 1980's when I first joined the Army. And they still rock! It's a rabbit hole. Do not be afraid ;)
I have been a diehard fan of Bon Jovi since they first appeared on the scene. As many powerful songs as they've had in their amazing career, Jon's version of "Hallelujah" became my favorite the instant I heard it. He made it his own.
Hi Aileen! This theme of dealing with the grind of a long tour has resulted in a lot of great songs, as the feelings are so raw and genuine to the band members themselves. A few others you might want to check out are: Faithfully, by Journey Wither, by Dream Theater Sweet Home Alabama, by Lynyrd Skynyrd And the one I most want you to hear and react to: Hell You Call a Dream, by The Warning.
It's another one of those classic rock songs about being a famous rock star - it's not always amazing and it is like whole other job. Turn The Page by Bob Seger. Limelight by Rush. It's A Lone Way To The Top by AC/DC. Fame by David Bowie. And so on. Great tune, though. I'd say you should hit up Livin' On A Prayer next, but you surely have to already heard that somewhere somehow.
Have this on my playlist. When I on my motorcycle and I must say. I go too fast listening to this. Keep up the great work. Much love from Lawton Fort Sill Oklahoma
Bon Jovi is such an amazing icon of the 80's and a great band, but it cannot ever be forgotten that John Bon Jovi is also one hell of a great human being, married to the same woman for 40 years(almost unheard of for a celeb)and runs multiple charities including his restaurant where the people can eat free paying only what they wish to donate.
A few years ago there was an internet rumor that Jon Bon Jovi had died. He took a picture with a sign that said "Heaven looks a lot like Jersey". Check out their first big hit "Runaway".
Oh my young lady you’re in my lane now! One of the first rock CASSETTES I ever bought was Bon Jovi Slippery When Wet! Let’s see: You give love a bad name, Lay Your Hands on me, Bed of Roses, I’ll be there for you, Blaze of Glory, Bad Medicine. The catalog is deep! Runaway was their first mainstream single. The song’s meaning has to do with being on the road endlessly and the steel horse is the bus they ride in.
"Runaway"🔥 was their first single released off of this album and the video debuted on MTV. It's a banger!💥 It was their first step on the road to stardom.🤗 I saw them in concert in '85 and they were fantastic live!💯 Great concert, great memory.😊❤️✌️
Love this song! My best friend playing lead guitar in a band for decades, I would watch him perform in bars, clubs, etc. He started playing this song in a crowded bar one night and I’m thinking, they don’t play this song. He waved me up on stage and handed me a microphone expecting me to sing this song. I’m like WTF i don’t even know all the lyrics. I just went with it and improvised adding some of my own lyrics. That’s just rock and roll I guess. Not knowing, I was also singing most of Richie Samboras back up vocals which I loved. Apparently all went well with the crowd standing and cheering. My buddy surprised and did this to me a few times with A/C D/C, U2, etc! Rock on 🎸🎤🕺🏾
Bon Jovi was everywhere in the 80's. good stuuf. theme song for our high school prom was Living on a Prayer. my favorite will always be Runaway. fast forward 25 years, i paid $150 to see them at a sporting event, in upstate NY. . a 45 minute show. Jon didnt travel with the band, and showed up over an hour late. i've never heard so much booing!! he didn't even apologize..just like "i'm here" no respect after that
I was at one of the concerts where this video was shot. Good performance by Bon Jovi but Cinderella absolutely stole the show! Thanks for the good reaction videos. I love your content.

No one toured harder than Bonjovi back in the 80s. Now for the high energy BonJovi check out the official video for "Lay your Hands on Me"
I think nearly everybody on the planet has heard "Livin' on a Prayer." But on the slim chance that you may be one of the 2 or 3 people on Earth who haven't, that would be a great next listen.
Another good one is "It's My Life."
Love your reactions.
And "You Give Love a Bad Name".
Those were the exact two I was thinking of. I especially like how the lyrics in "It's My Life" refer back to characters introduced in "Livin' on a Prayer."
Nah, North Korea, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, Sudan , Iraq , etc , never heard of Bon Jovi 🤪
She does songs she's heard all the time. She just doesn't admit it.
"It's My Life" is my favorite!!!!!!
One of the best tour rock ballads ever. I love how your brain works and how you analyze it. You pick up exactly what I'm hearing. Nice channel.
One of the greatest guitar solo of the history.
its just NOT . is it .
good yes . Don’t cheapen GREAT .
you want a list of GREAT Guitarists ? well Ricky ain’t on it . Nobody even his Mother would say GREAT .
Bon Jovi is amazing. Check out his vocals on, Bed of roses. Phenomenal. 👍
What you see on stage is Jon Bon Jovi being an artist, giving his everything for the fans that came to see him.
Great reaction as always! Please please check more of them. If you like that western feel, Blaze of Glory is another amazing song. But you can’t go wrong with anything by them.
A true classic
Child of the mid80s-90s here. Hair band lover. Friends and I couldn’t get enough of these guys and many others. So fun!
8:12 I've always liked
Bon Jovi's softer side with LeAnn Rimes in the duet "Until We're Not Strangers Anymore" or his singles "Thank You" and "You want to make a Memory ".
Red dead redemption you can definitely ride a horse and fight someone 😂 but man that guitar rift and Bon Jovi voice is just amazing
Their best song by a big margin, imo. Rock classic. Chemistry between Bon Jovi and Sambora is unmatched.
Ah this is my childhood haha. I think what I love most is Jon's humanity - he's forever doing fund-raisers to feed people & such.
Bom Jovi are just such iconic 80s
Can't wait for more
Shirazz_au
Living with Rock not, under a rock. 😂 Always a Riot to watch yer reaction vids. Tanks.
i had 3 older sisters, and bon jovi was my middle sister's favorite band so i grew up hearing tons and tons of bon jovi. wanted dead or alive is one of my favorite bon jovi songs. my dad always called bon jovi "baby making music", but there are a few classics that are must listens:
runaway
never say goodbye
you give love a bad name
livin' on a prayer
lay your hands on me
i'll be there for you
born to be my baby
always
and some of my favorite lesser known songs:
let it rock
stick to your guns
wild is the wind
blood on blood
i'd die for you
Some of my Favorite Bon Jovi Songs - Runaway.
In and Out of Love!!! 🤘😀🤘
I love Richie Sambora on backing vocals and harmonizing with Jon Bon Jovi not to mention for his guitar playing !!
The Best Bon Jovi's sont ..for me...Richie Sambora 60% of BJ..great Reactions Aileen...❤👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Another suggestion for you by bon Jovi is "you give love a bad name" also "blaze of glory"
Hey just recently discovered you and your my favorite and love when ever I see your facial expression it makes me smile every time keep it up girl ❤
Jon bon jovi anf Richie sambora.....
Not this song, it is not on the soundtrack for the movie
You should check out the soundtrack of the movie Young Guns 2. All Jon Bon Jovi. Main song is Blaze of Glory, but the whole album is good. Bon Jovi were at their best in the 80s into the 90s. That was their golden times, with many classics.
Bed of Roses voted as one the most romantic songs of all time 👍 Rock on
Practically impossible for me to believe that she never heard of freakin BON JOVI!!!!
On of the most iconic songs ever written. CLASSIC!
I can't help picturing the opening credits of the Discovery show Deadliest Catch whenever I hear this song.
The 80s was absolutely the best decade for Rock Music
Listen, I'll be 63 years old in June, and I have been rockin' to Bon Jovi since the early 1980's when I first joined the Army. And they still rock! It's a rabbit hole. Do not be afraid ;)
It's not one the more well known songs but Dry County is pretty epic!
So true
Glad it hit you!!!! Very underrated song. And the guitar solo also screams desperation. So good ❤
Bon Jovi was my first concert a very long time ago. Slippery When Wet tour. Skid Row was the opening act. Amazing times back then…
I have been a diehard fan of Bon Jovi since they first appeared on the scene.
A few others you might want to check out are:
Faithfully, by Journey
Wither, by Dream Theater
Sweet Home Alabama, by Lynyrd Skynyrd
And the one I most want you to hear and react to: Hell You Call a Dream, by The Warning.
One of the greatest songs of the 80s and greatest on the road songs about the life of a performer
Oh man, now we talking...
This is not a react, this is a journey...
Please, continue...
Congratulations for your channel and saluts from Brazil...
"Runaway"🔥 was their first single released off of this album and the video debuted on MTV. It's a banger!💥 It was their first step on the road to stardom.🤗 I saw them in concert in '85 and they were fantastic live!💯 Great concert, great memory.😊❤️✌️
Ritchie Sambora needs alot of credit for his guitar playing and backup vocals.
Hey!!!! I watched that awesome music video.
This is why Bob Jovi rocks. Also, He speaks Italian
Richies voice is so underrated.
We played this song at our jams all the time back in the day. I played drums back then and did lead vocals. -Terry
Rock on 🎸🎤🕺🏾
My personal request just dedicated to you Aileen. Bon Jovi “I’ll Be There For You”. As soon as you hear it you will know why!! 🌹
Bad Medicine is a banger!!!!!
Blaze of Glory too!
I can’t hear “Bad Medicine” anymore without picturing that scene from ‘Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back’, lol!
Bon Jovi
Blaze Of Glory
You Give Love A Bad Name
"Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man". I always remember this movie when I hear this song)))
That movie intro was the best!
My favorite band back in the day. Bon Jovi has so many great songs. Thank you for this and looking forward to you reviewing more of their songs soon!!
Bob Jovis a really good human too. And he just saved someone’s life that was trying to jump off a bridge. Still with his high school sweetheart.
I somehow know you heard at least the hook somewhere but your next Bon Jovi reactions should be “Living on a Prayer”
Not a huge Bon Jovi fan, but always loved this song. Definitely the only one of their songs I learned on guitar, because that acoustic part just flows so nicely. It's just fun as hell to play. Also the solo in this song is on point.
By far the best Bon Jovi song IMO. Jon's vocals and Richies playing made this song one of the all time hair metal greats
