Best match that Davidovich Fokina has played so far this year by a country mile. What great match from both but Alcaraz just more experienced and match tough in the crucial moments.
The amount of restraint Alcaraz is showing reminds me of another all time great early on but Agassi was never this athletic of course. However Agassi used to pay like his hair was on fire. Yet only when he found restraint and temperence did his game elevate and Alcaraz is beginning that ascension. It's quite a sight to see. This young man is one for the ages already. Saving men's tennis from the homogenized play ground it's become. Fire, variety and skills. He has it all.
I partially saw the ghost bounce but didn't understand it since it ended up unreturned on Kodi's side of the net but he got the point. I can't figure this one out !
I don't think clay is his best surface He does much better on hard courts. He played a very formidable opponent and the fact that he walked away with a win in straight sets is good enough for me
I've never known anyone who was at their best all of the time. Unless there is someone out here who is superhuman then I don't expect to meet such a person.
Impressive performance by Fokina. If he continues to deliver this sort of performance, I hope he will have a decent draw at RG - he could go quite far. Love to see him play Tsitsipas in the early rounds. I don’t think that he has to hide at all. Deep ground strokes, good serve. I find his game very convincing.
I remember when Alcaraz was 15 he played and lost to Davidovich Fokina who was 19 and the best new generation player in Spain. Now Alcaraz has transformed!
in contrast to many other young great players out there alcaraz is respected and liked by literally everyone. the crowds all over the world and so many players. thats quite different to others.
Today my father asked me to clean his car for him so I spent the whole morning doing it. After some time, I went back inside and my father asked me how the car was looking. "Djokovic", I just replied. He just smiled and nodded . He knew that it was washed.
I can't put my finger on it but there is something about Fokina that is so good to watch. Unfortunately, lacks consistency and even though Carlos didnt play his best (so many unforced errors), he still won.
To me this was the highest quality match so far in this tournament. Quite sure alcaraz felt relieved when this one was over. Was pretty surprised by Fokina. He really showed what he is capable of. Hope he gets a good draw in RG.
If looks could kill, there were times during the match where both of them would have been dead many times 😂😂😂 but at the end, the gracious handshake and the smiles, it shows these two young men are better than some drama queens
Very impressed with Alejandro DF playing, he reminds me of David Ferrer and I am sure he is going to get closer to the top 10. The match was really tight, somehow Alcaraz found his way in spite of ao many unforced errors. Not so brilliant today.
I like Fokki's gm.... He had chances in the 1st set but squandered them badly. Good for him that he didnt disappear in the 2nd set. But he has the tools to at least disrupt Alcaraz. And when u face a player like Alcaraz, you have to take your opportunities and try to at least steal thr 1st set and then put hom under immense pressure in the 2nd.
1:00 Every time this Alcaraz plays tennis something happens... 😂😂😂😂 This moment is those typical tennis funny moments that remain in tennis history and you can't stop watching and laughing... 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Absolutely. I am happy that people confirm what I have been seeing. Fokina has tremendous potential on clay. I hope he has a decent draw in RG to have the chance to go deep. This guy can be a force on this surface. Ive just been reading the comments on the Tsitsipas - DeMinaur match: Too much praise imo. These two matches - worlds apart. If anyone of them Alcaraz or Fokina would have been way too powerful fr Tsitsipas.
Close to his best under windy conditions. He hates wind, like all aggressive players, it removes his main advantage. He is not one who will outlast his opponent in long rallies, he needs to finish points early for his play style.
The whole ATP yet to come up with a question Alcaraz doesn't have an answer for. What he's doing now is really only comparable to Fed's prime, where for a few years, he made everyone he played against look like they were playing a different sport. Can't wait to see what kind of player will give him genuine trouble, because right now I don't know who that player is.
Calm down chap. Your boy only has 1 (one) Grand slam to his name. I remember Sinner having an answer to the "question" at Wimbledon and likewise Zverev at RG. To jog your memory: Federer's prime, 2003 - 2007 he won 12 Grand Slam titles from the 14 finals he played. After his first GS in 2003, the next season he won 3 grand slams, Alcaraz would have to win RG, Wimbledon and the US this year to be comparable to Federer's achievements. Winning 3 set ATP matches is not the same as 5 set grand slams, you might say they are almost a "different sport"

One of the few whose athleticism matches Alcaraz. Terrible hair, exciting player.

Best match that Davidovich Fokina has played so far this year by a country mile. What great match from both but Alcaraz just more experienced and match tough in the crucial moments.
What's the most admirable trait of Alcaraz's tennis? He brings the best out of his opponents while bringing out the best in himself.
The amount of restraint Alcaraz is showing reminds me of another all time great early on but Agassi was never this athletic of course. However Agassi used to pay like his hair was on fire. If the ball bounces back without the other player being able to touch it, then the point is won.
