Full gear all the time. Love the airbag vest. My wife is also in full gear with vest when she rides with me. Picked up a 1971 Honda cb450 k4 this spring, had one in high school, loving riding again !

Man my Helite vest has saved my ass 3 times now. New rider, practicing in a lot, stalled in low speed cornering, broke collar bone, missed 8 weeks of riding season. Got a vest, crashed and fell off the same way 3 times - don’t even feel it.

The few times I've ridden without a jacket due to excessive heat, I feel naked!
I haven’t been on a bike in over 40 years! My first bike back then was a 1979 Yamaha XS 650 Special and I loved it! Now I’m back in the saddle again with a Honda Rebel 1100 DCT. I had to get an automatic because of a disability that prevents me from using a manual shift lever. But, I chose a bike that would get me back into riding safely and the bike can be powerful (1084 cc) or tame depending on which riding mode I choose and the bike is lightweight (509lbs) which makes it nimble. I’ve purchased all the gear that I can get my hands on, it’s not the 1970’s anymore in NYC with tee shirts and jeans! I’m in the country now, taking it slow. I just had my real efedup Day last week, definitely wear your gear. I was missing protection from the waist below, definitely got lucky.
My helite went off in August. Totaled motorcycle but im alive. Only stuck with a broken pelvis which is almost healed up.

I had a fuked up day in 2016 and I quit riding, it was my mistake, I always wear protective gear but on that unfortunate day I was going for a short ride and thought to myself it is only a short ride and I never had an accident before so what can go wrong? well I did have an accident and broke my ankle and I got road rash on my arm. The moral of the story is ALWAYS wear your protective gear no matter what because you don't know when you are going to have a fuked up day!
I ride with as much gear as possible I can afford. Got some alpha jacket, its not cool or anything but its got pads, "ce" pads in the elbows shoulders and back but nothing on the ribs. My boots were shity, gotta get new ones after only 5k. For gloves I finally got the odin heavy hitters, those are sick. And I upgraded my helmet from the hjc i10 to their c70 helmet for the looks to match my bike. Its pretty sweet with the flipdown shades and the visor does way better in the rain. I also got the alpha pants but they kinda like snow pants and so I'm squidding on pants with the bdu's.
Might check that jacket soon if I can afford an upgrade.
I'm always in jacket gloves boots and helmet (I wear pants but not motorcycle ones) and I always cover my horn on intersections and when changing lanes that split into another lane
I've dropped my supersport recently, but I had quality frame sliders...
I do agree everyone should have gear and that they shouldn't jump on a bike bigger than a 600cc (after taking the MSF course)

That Intelligent Cranium helmet with its HUD and rear view camera is the best thing yet, if they ever start shipping it.
Great job! The vest is a no brainer. Not cheap, 6-700$ but a good helmet can go for half that. And they can both be lifesaving.
Spending a $1,500 on gear can save hundreds of thousands of dollars in medical bills not to mention your quality of life. Many riders don't realize how easy it can be to damage your spine in a motorcycle accident, if they understood this they would never ride without an airbag vest.
Ride safe, ride longer. I want to enjoy riding until I’m too old to do so.

I started so long ago there were NO super motos. After 8 years of offroad riding, I selected the XT600 as my first street legal bike.
The XT600 is nice! When I first started riding I had never heard of a supermoto and thought they were stupid at first until I got one and now it is the most fun type of motorcycle I ever rode. However, mine is really a dual sport supermoto because I have on the ADV tires.
Wont leave the house with out the airbag vest
and the heli light is like 700 and has been proven to reduce the injury in a crash.... the medical bill if you fu*** yourself up bad would be like 100,000

Same here! You are wise. People don't realize how crazy expensive medical bills are until they get majorly hurt. Unless you have $800/mo health insurance you are going to be paying big medical bills if you get hurt bad. Best way to help reduce the likelihood of getting hurt bad is wearing all the gear and an airbag vest along with riding defensively and not doing crazy speeds. Best of luck!

I deliver food on a WR250, in & out of 10-15 restaurants, then off the motorcycle to the door to drop off the food and back on. Can’t really be sitting in the restaurant looking like Master Chief waiting on orders. I’ve got to wear light easy to move in clothes. Any ideas? Just looked at the helmet and the price is crazy for a beginner. Most just saved for months to afford a down payment on their new machine and may need a more economical solution. I’m all for the best when it comes to safety, but would you have a recommendation for something even half that price or less?

Hard headed MFers must learn the hard way. Having worked in a motorcycle dealership for a long time I've seen idiots drop anywhere from 10k to 30k on a bike as a beginner and COMPLETELY ignore buying gear despite the fact there's an entire section of the dealership with ALL the gear you could ask for. As for an airbag vest it's beyond me that anyone would argue over the price when it's basically cheap insurance against massive hospital bills.
Yeah some people have to learn the hard way. Many riders don't realize how easy it is to get hurt bad on a motorcycle because of lack of gear and end up with huge medical bills. I had a simple collar bone fracture from messing around off-road on my supermoto and the medical bills came in for a year totaling about 8k.

I dropped $2200 on all my gear, and yeah that includes the airbag vest. I have kids, I have to mitigate as much risk as possible if im going to enjoy this hobby. I think I look pretty cool with all the gear anyway, I think dumbasses without gear look stupid as fuck. MSF class, full coverage insurance, and $1million life insurance policy. bought my first bike, a FTR 1200 with traction control, wheelie mitigation, ABS, and different rider modes. The bike is reviewed as this insane bike, but its so damn mild mannered when you want it to be, has fantastic brakes, and handles very well. as someone in their mid 30's that doesnt ride like an asshole, it has been great for my first bike.

You're describing me. A helmet, fingerless gloves, and that's IT! Even though I had four broken ribs, broken clavicle, broken feet,bruised lung, punctured ear drum, and road rash burns all over my limbs from my crash. All because I just had a helmet wearing T shirt and shorts. I'm still not going to wear all that gear. It's toooooo hot, and stick in the South. That's all I need a helmet, and gloves, and what ever it's hot tank tops and short, or cold sweat pants and a jacket. It's not going to be leather since I can't afford it. Most of time I don't wear a jacket.
I don't know... I would rather be sweating than bleeding or worse.

I've heard bikers say that the air vest saved them from a worse outcome only because they were wearing the air vest 🙏🏽
There are many testimonials on youtube proving the airbag vest not only saved their life but kept them from being paralyzed. Imo, I think it should be a law that all motorcycle riders wear airbag technology, there would be a lot less deaths and major injuries. However, some riders have to learn the hard way. Stay safe!

I watched you build it with my mom when I was her caretaker 24/7 365 for years before parkinsons killed her and i get it sounds weird but I feel a connection to it (which is why I’ve bothered you for years about buying it) because I spent a ton of time answering all her questions about what each thing you were doing was for and what each part does and if cars have that part etc. and as a a result we spent like 3x the length of each video in the build series just watching it on pause while we talked about it and if possible, it would mean a lot to be able to have first bite at the apple whenever you do sell it, whenever that may be.
Maybe you could save me as “yz450fx guy” in your little black book idk, if that’s too much trouble then so be it…

@@user-eh2ty4mv3e it’s quite bizarre. Not just an obsession with him, someone she actively dislikes, but literally attempting to keep track of who loves him and who hates him, seemingly blind to the fact most people don’t feel so strongly in either direction about strangers.
We aren’t in grade school. I am critical when it’s warranted and I give recognition when it’s earned…you know, like adults. She apparently didn’t realize RUclips moderates comments themselves as well…it would be hilarious if her husband was never actually blocked and just had his comments removed by RUclips.
I assume/ hope they’re smart enough to do a simple test to see for sure but it would still be funny.
