As it dries down it’s smooth out a little bit and I’m quite impressed lol although sniffing it directly right up against the skin it’s a little strong with a synthetic smell but inch back a little bit and it’s Layton lol

I just got my bottle yesterday and I’ve had Lalique white in black for few months. Detour def is closer in the opening To Layton. The spicy smell is spot on but I don’t get the slight menthol. As it dries down I get a more synthetic apple it’s a bit more fruity sweet and playful but it’s not as close as it was in the beginning. It’s a better clone than Lalique but I feel Lalique is smother and better quality.
I just received my bottle today. I absolutely pick up that Apple Note in the open. I've never smelled Layton but picked this up because the scent profile was something I wanted. I love this fragrance. I added it to my collection. I'm at an even 20 bottles so I'll stop buying for a year or so.

@@mr.therockjohnson5394 unfortunately that’s out is sometimes certain frags smell great on me and then I tried on a friend and it’s smelled like crap then he gave me his fragrance and it smelled horrible on me. Your body chemistry really does play a role.

But after awhile I just get this headache wearing it & that same happened to me w/ Spicebomb Extreme. Are you sure you’re not spraying too much? Try one spray on your forehand and just go about your day and just smell it everyone once in a while, if you still get headache or it’s off putting in anyway I’d say it’s not agreeing with you. I do 5-7 sprays when I go out one on each side of neck, one on back of head one in each forearm and one in each forehand and I smell great all day long and it doesn’t bother infact I can’t stop sniffing my forehand I like it so much lol. It’s Miami high heat weather too. That vanilla oud on the dry down a few hours later is also so good 😊;

Tip: I'm often using (higher quality!) testers, having much less powerful sprayers, in order to be significantly more economical with the more expensive fragrances. Also pretty handy, because easy to keep with you. 👍
I bought a new bottle of Layton a few months ago, it's the reformulated version with 82% alc. and the batch code tells me it was made in January 2022. Now I've had some decants of Layton (2019 & 2020 batches) that smelled better than Detour Noir, although Detour Noir comes very close. But compared to my new bottle of Layton, Detour Noir smells WAY better. My new Layton smells chemical, and has bad performance. Honestly be very careful about buying the new 82% alc. Layton batches, I don't know any other 82% batches apart from mine, but mine is absolutely awful. Don't buy the January 2022 Layton batch guys, Detour Noir is like 10% the price and smells BETTER, and much closer to old Layton batches...
I completely agree with you i have tester that doesn't state 82% alc and i just bought a new version with that 82% alc and its night and day on the performance. The newer laytons do have a more chemical smell and the performance is not as good as the tester. For reference my new layton batch code is 2021321 and its a jan 2022 batch, my tester batch is 003901 which is a jan 2020 batch.

I've gone through 2 bottles of Layton and I love it...and imo this is 90 to 95% Layton...most wont know the difference until you hit about 6hrs...doesn't have the staying power as Layton but for this price just pump the trigger a few extra times and you're golden...pretty amazing at this price point. And the bottle...well...no better looking than what you'd see in a dollar store...it's that bad.

I just got my bottle. At first, I was really confused and disappointed (not too disappointed since it was only $30). First spray smelled nothing like Layton to me. I ordered a few other things from FragranceBuy as well. Before I smelled this one, I tried the 4711 neroli cologne and Erba Pura by Xerjoff. One of those must’ve really messed up my nose because I sprayed Detour again after a shower and it definitely smells like Layton. I think it was the 4711 because the Erba Pura smelled unexpected as well. Glad I picked it up! Side note- the felt on the Erba Pura bottle I got is so trashed 😄 Oh and I’m pretty sure the bottle is supposed to look like a winding road.
Just compared side by side with my bottle of Layton my batch smells identical and I noticed as it dries down the apple stays longer then in Layton it stays in noir the hole time doesn’t disappear like in Layton
I'm surprised this video hasn't been pulled or modified since these are NOT the correct notes for this fragrance. There was obviously some Three's Company style mixup in which nearly every review relied on wrong information from the same source, and the most concerning thing is that almost ALL reviewers never really questioned it and some even seemed to talk themselves into actually believing bad info. The truth is for anyone interested in Detour is that is has EXACTLY the same notes as Layton. With PDM or Creed or whomever mixing and diluting and changing batches year by year, it's a moving target to get a true "clone" fragrance but for about 1/10th the price of PDM, this is a very nice scent and generally close to Layton in general. That makes it more than good enough.
I'm happy to pay $5-$6 extra for every fragrance bottle to be nice high quality like the PDM ones. It doesn't cost these companies much at all to make them.
Hey Dallas when you were doing the review for the lalique white and black I put in the comments of that video that you should try this one 😁 but I'm glad that you got your nose on it I think this one smells almost 100% in my opinion I ended up picking up a bottle of this about a month ago or a month and a half ago and when I smelled it, I was dumbfounded on how almost one to one it was 😁💯🔥

I honestly like it more than layton at fraction of the cost I dont know how long it last yet but it smells great write now! 30 mins on the skin and I'm still not getting layton vides! I got it cause its supposed to be a clone of layton to me its better I like it alot smells great!! But not layton!
This is lighter, has not the same depth, smells cheaper but in the air they are quite similar. Also on Al haramain there is no difference on opening, mid and drydown. For 35 Euros this is more than an ok fragrance.
Bought this one a while ago it smells nice bit the bottle is cheap, the name rubbed easily and it lasted so very little on my skin ..for me a big disappointment
I got a bottle of Al Haramain Detour Rouge a while ago, and I can't tell if it was a relabel, or if Al Haramain Detour Noir is a different thing? I thought at the time I was getting the Layton clone but I am confused now, I don't even see anything on Fragrantica for the bottle of Detour I have that says Rouge, so I wonder. Does anyone have any idea with this one? I'd love to know if I already have this or somehow have some other random one.
In my honest opinion, it’s just okay. It didn’t blow me away and at the same time Layton doesn’t really blow me away. I do prefer Layton over this. Try before you buy. Don’t buy into the hype.
Layton = $200+, Detour Noir = $27... Buy the Detour first to get an idea if you like the Layton DNA, at that price point it's a better deal than trying to sample either of them. Just my .02 scents.
I ever since I purchase Armaf craze (Pegasus) clone, I have been nervous about buying clones again cuz that shit was TERRIBLE. The opening was sickening and disgusting even the dry down smelled like $30. Armaf Creed clones are good but that Craze was not it, at all.
You got the wrong Craze. Bet a $100 you bought Craze Noir. Craze smells great. Craze Noir IS garbage. Same bottle. Same name, except that little Noir they sneak in on you. Try again.

Im a big fan of the PDM box/bottle presentations. The caps are pretty much paper weight worthy. Very classy in my opinion !!

I ever since I purchase Armaf craze (Pegasus) clone, I have been nervous about buying clones again cuz that shit was TERRIBLE. The opening was sickening and disgusting even the dry down smelled like $30. Armaf Creed clones are good but that Craze was not it, at all.
You got the wrong Craze. Bet a $100 you bought Craze Noir. Craze smells great. Craze Noir IS garbage. Same bottle. Same name, except that little Noir they sneak in on you. Try again.

@@uppercutshurt5199 well you gotta be smart enough to realize which frags are harder to clone, see it's easy to clone Aventus cuz the notes are simple but Pegasus has almond & heliotrope hard notes to follow if your working with cheap ingredients
