- I am happy to be one of the first guys around to show you Siri's brand new cine lenses, the ultra fast T1.2 Nightwalker series. Sirui has built a reputation in making some of the best value cine lenses around, especially anamorphic in recent years. Now they are back but this time, these lenses are designed specifically for cropped formats, and the set I have here are designed for Micro Four Thirds and I am also using my OM-1 so you can see what Olympus video looks like and what you should expect if you are to pair your Olympus/OM System cameras with these Nightwalker lenses. Watch and find out the details. **The review samples are pre-production so things may change by the time these lenses are announced. #filmmaking #cinematography #omsystem

I love all your vlogs and the bonus content added to the end of your videos. You’re my go-to camera review person
Hi. Your footage looks great! I like your compact follow focus unit.
i got the 24 mm T1.2 MFT & i absolut love it.
the built quality for this price is just awesome.
Nice review, thank you for that! Would also like to know what is the bag you are using (the yellow one) :)
Sound really cool! I don't know much about filmmaking but if these are available, I wouldn't mind learning more.
They are indeed very cool, especially considering as compact, well-built metal lenses with ultra fast T1.2 (around f1.0) photography lenses, they are a bit of a bargain! Sirui has been known for making interesting and performing lenses for a while and I am quite impressed so far, outside of Laowa (another premium Chinese manual lens company).
Nice. Question though: no options for a wide angle in this lens set? 35mm is already very long on MFT, it would be nice if that set included a 12 or 14mm to match, no?
Hey what about them Mitakon t1.0 which are good did you like more Sirius or Mitakons?great videos btw...
Would you please do a comparison review between these Sirui Nightwalkers and the Mitakon Zhongyi 17, 25, 35 & 50mm T1 Speedmaster Cine lenses???
12mm and 16mm would be the dream. I don't care if they're only f1.8 for that matter.
Honestly same, I hope they see this!!!
what equipment is that. the thing that turns the lens on the left side
How do they compare with the Mitakon?
Thanks, Jimmy! Fringing is inevitable if the lenses designed to yield cinematic picture.
How so? There are APO cine lenses that minimize this occurring
Thanks for the very thorough and helpful video. How do you feel about the 24 mm used primarily for still photography at night? Are there others you would prefer at this lower price point. For reference, I am using the OM1. All the best to you, Bob
Thanks Bob. Not at this price point at present. You can indeed, use this lens for photography. I use cine lenses for portraits too sometimes, as they tend to have slightly different look.
@@Red35Photography Thanks so much for the reply. I really trust your recommendations. I bought my first manual lens (Laowa 6mm rectilinear) based on your review and have been THRILLED with what it has opened up for me! On another topic; I wanted to reply to the very personal video you made a while back about unfair treatment you have received due simply to who you are ethnically, etc. There was no way to express my feelings in a brief way, so I didn’t reply at the time. Sometimes it feels like the world is progressing , other times like it is regressing into more hateful ways. I suppose both can be true at the same time? I live in the US which, as you may know, is an extremely divisive place right now. Though I was born here, it feels almost like a foreign land to me now. In any case, what I really want to say here is that I am so incredibly grateful for your channel, the beauty you bring to the world through your art, and for your obvious kind humanity. All the best to you, Bob
@@robertcsmith7773 thanks Bob. Yes, I often feel like I need to work double hard to get somewhere with everything I do. It is how it is but can't help but to release my steam every now and then. Thanks for listening though.
Model lens focus?
I'd love to see them in L mount, even as S35!
Yeah, unfortunately they don't do them in L mount. Perhaps a future version that they will add.
Can you tell me what that device is that you're using for focusing from the grip?
It's SmallRig's new MagicFiz wireless follow focus.
That's a bargain if it really is gonna 350 USD per lens at retail, and yeah a wide angle option would really complete this line up.
Forgot to mention that I’m interested in the whole rigging setup and the follow focus.
Yeah, I will do something on that later :)
Yeah the setup seems like a good compromise between gimbal and IBIS
A 12mm would be nice!
Hey Jimmy, interesting video, the lenses looks very nice, compact and well built, but am I the only one that things the image quality is absolutely terrible at f”t1.2, why make it so wide open when is practically unusable? Better make it t2 but to be perfect and razor sharp wide open.
Also the focal lengths are designed for apps-c to be 35, 50 and 85mm so a little bit awkward for m4/3. Even if they make a wider version it will be like 24mm so it will be 16mm so again not fast enough on m4/3.
I prefer to use Oly 1.2 primes for great wide open quality or if you want great image for video Pana-Leica f/1.7 zooms are also an option. Yes, big, heavy and expensive, but cover great focal distance and are perfect wide open, they will be far more sharper than these lenses at 1.7.
As far as we are talking about fine lenses for m4/3 I think the best I’ve seen are DZO film, but sadly they offer only zooms, no primers for m4/3.
The T1.2 is for that emergency scenario use. I would say, it's ok, especially considering the price. You literally get the whole set for less than a 1.2 PRO lens from Olympus. You can stop down to T2 if you wish and the lenses are not big at all, and I quite enjoy using them actually.
what is the follow focus?
I see a SmallRig MagicFIZ :)
I'd imagine they probably didn't make a 12mm because it would be really difficult to achieve a T1.2 like the other lenses in the lineup.
Apparently they are making a wider and a longer lens to add to this line up!
@@Red35PhotographyWow! do they have a release date set yet?
@@maxvorobey1316 Unfortunately no release date yet, but they are definitely making it :)
No autofocus though? Do most people not enjoy having autofocus?
No in filmmaking. We do that ourselves. Auto is only convenience for self-filming line RUclips videos and vlogging.
@@Red35Photography not sure with last AF systems you can choose speed of changes, clic on where you want the focus on screen and choose to keep on eyes tracking or not, really not like previous technology, you can be more creative and confident (I use the r7 VS BMPCC4k) I would love to see these kind of prime lens in the AF world
@@juliensimracer There are system similar to what you describe. In fact, OM System has a clever AF that works in video where you can rack focus smoothly by simply touching the screen, or if in handheld mode, you can use the joystick to change focus point and the system will change over smoothly, together with eye AF, so similar to R7. Other system are based on similar theories, but in reality, the only sticking point for AF is the 'robotic' feel that doesn't look good on screen. Manual focus can change speed on demand and the transition is always more 'human like' hence almost all cine lenses are manual focus. AF works in sports though where tracking is priority over anything else, so huge AF tracking cameras are used in sport stadiums.
