When you die, every hit you take wil let you loose ergom thats correct, but after you kill enemy that hit you, you will get your ergo back. You can even see it on your own footage. About the lie theme. Why do you lie in this game? Maybe you dont want to upset greaving husband even more than he is, or you want to protect people in a hotel from suspicious people, or you want to make Antonia feel better. There is always a reason, and by doing so P is doing something that is not possible for puppet - he's making a decision based on emotions. And dont froget, thet your "heart" reacting not only when you lie. Its reacting when you kill Alidoro, because of his betrayal, because he helped kidnappind your father, because of his actions Antonia died a lot earlier that she shoud. So you let your anger and rage out. Or when you are listening to music. Puppets dont need music. Music produce emotions in you. Puppets dont have it, but you do. And etc I dont think that every story need to teach me some lesson. I dont need it to teach me that lying is always good. I know its not. I am living 26 years as a human, so i have a basic understanding. But protagonist of a story isnt human or atleast fully human, he needs to learn, and in this game you are choosing if you want to learn how to become one, or not. English is not my language, but i hope you can understand my point.
Your english is fine friend, no worries. Yeah I actually noticed that you get your ergo back after killing an enemy after I uploaded the video, but it wasnt significant enough to change it. The funny thing is, the fact that your character isn't human and needs to learn is part of the point. That fact means that a key question of the games narrative is asking what it means to be human, but the problem comes from the fact that the lesson about humanity that your character learns, is that humanity is defined by deceit and violence. With the music thing aside, the extreme majority of decisions that increase your humanity are lying or getting revenge. It's as though the game is intent on teaching the puppet not how to be human, but how to be a psychopath.

I said blocking was your "Worst, best option." Meaning of your good options, its the worst of the three, but not that it isn't useful. Blocking reduces damage that can potentially be recovered, but you can also still be killed through your block. Meanwhile, dodging and parrying either ensure you take no damage, or that you take no damage, heal, break the enemy's weapon, and avoid getting hit from fury attacks respectively.

No, you can absolutely increase you humanity through other means, listening to music (enjoyment is not a part of an automated puppets) And solving riddles. There are also instances where telling the truth gives you humanity. The thing is the game even straight up tells you this, it is the dialogue from antonia about lying. There are also things that you will miss if you keep on lying, the story and vinyl record of eugenie for example but i do agree that there is not enough consequences for lying just because, but i have to strongly disagree with you calling it incompetent when it comes to its themes, that is so nitpicky its not even funny, or maybe too pessimistic. Regardless, the dlc and sequel would benefit for a more equal treatment for the rewards and consequences of choices. The thing is, why did you lie even when you don't want to, i did not hear anything about the story from you besides it being as insane as a jrpg, there is a 2 hour video dissecting the original story of pinocchio and shat lies of p did to it, maybe you'll have a different or maybe possitive perspective of the story if you wach 10 or 20 minutes of that.
I have around 750 hours into bloodborne and this game is better at the end of the day. There's also a difference between Victorian and Gothic. This is Victorian, bloodborne is Gothic

Im curious what you mean, since the design IS technically the execution. Maybe the game had a lot of great ideas, but didnt design them in such a way that they worked?

Actually you can rely on blocking a lot due to guard regain system. It's not as bad as you think.

I've literally never heard of this game before today but it looks sick.
It makes me sad how common that sentiment is. Everyone who is even remotely into games like this thinks its dope, too bad no one's ever heard of it.
