I saw some people already addressing some of the criticism towards the story, but I have yet to see someone talking about the reason Geppetto caused the Puppet Frenzy. So I'll do it myself (lol) Geppetto needed the arm of god to bring Carlo back, not only the arm of god, but our heart too (since we're a "failure"). And as we can see throught the story, This artifact is very well known and a lot of people have their eyes on it. So Geppetto used the puppet frenzy as a distraction to get his hands on the arm of god.
This is never stated in the story and if it is feel free to link me a time stamp to a video or something, also he could’ve still just worked with Simon since he was already doing that anyway…
@@C0LIN.if you go back to the train car you started at in the beginning, once the area is more messed up in chapter 9, you can break the back to reveal a secret room with a note from Simon that talks about this, as he had just taken the arm back
To add to this too, Gepetto caused the puppet frenzy not only for the arm of god, but also being that ergo is the soul and life essence of a being frozen in time, he needed mass amounts of it to power up P’s heart so that it would be able to sustain the nameless puppet body. Gepetto basically caused mass genocide of a whole city, summoned literal capital G God, all to power up what is essentially a battery to bring his dead son back to life.
Ok soooo… the guy with the puppet wife knew she was a puppet but fell in love with her anyway. We learn how Carlo died on the beach of the alchemist isle Even if they knew the tree was next to the hotel they still didn‘t have a cure since that is provided by the half dead guy ,I forgot his name, that u rescue at the cathedral and his research Idk about this one but…Geppetto started the puppet frenzy to fight the petrification disease and sometimes I wonder if the puppets actually only killed ppl that were sick from the petrification disease but idk
I think, the puppets went haywire since almost everyone even those not infected with ergo’ petrification disease were at some level were targetted since they couldn’t specify at what level to address the disease. This might have led to dysfunction between the law and the new programming to attack petrified “zombies”? it ended up attacking everyone
Seems to me you skip a lot of dialogues (or quick smash a lot of them ) The submarine need Golden Ergo from Swamp monster to activate, thus why Antonia didn't give you the key earlier cuz it'd be pointless. As for the cure for Antonia, only that alchemist guy knows how to make. None of the people in the hotel have any knowledge of how to make the cure at that point. We dont encounter him until after we beat the Black Brotherhood, so it'd be pointless to give the golden fruit to Antonia first.
@@C0LIN.Then it's failure on your part. It's your job to manage space in this fight to preserve enought pipes and escape the fire, it's part of the fight
For your complaint around min 13: The game actually tells you that you should keep the boss ergos because you can exchange them for power full items later. Also for conusmables there is a vendor that sells them indefinetly.
regarding the secret passage to the alchemist island. Antonia did know about the passage but she tells us that its locked from the other side, when the cat and fox & maybe the black rabbit brotherhood sneak into and attack hotel krat it is presumed they used the secret entrance and left it unlocked allowing P to use it to reach the island. Up until that point the passageway was locked off so Antonia didn't think it worth mentioning. Now the next point this raises is if she knew then that meant that at any point an attack could've happened and she would've been able to warn us. To that i say that, at that point in the story the Alchemists weren't known to be a threat, the passageway was created out of a mutual trust between krat and the alchemists and with hotel krat acting as a safe haven in the puppet frenzy it was likely assumed by Antonia that the alchemists werent a threat. To address the gold coin fruit point. I think the gold coin fruit is meant to be a vital ingredient in creating powerful medicines but it on its own is not able to cure illness. "Giango" was a "rookie" alchemist and as such he couldnt synthesise a proper cure for Antonia and instead only made something to help ease her pain as she passed away. We know from the post credit scene that Giango or "philippus Paracelsus" (his real name) is a lot more interesting than he lets on and likely could've created a cure for Antonia but just didnt to help further his cover as a rookie alchemist. Regardless i liked your review Colin. Keep up the good work. p.s when you have the overheat affliction you can Roll to remove it fast making the kings flame boss a joke.
the katana is just a harder parry, it supposed to parry attacks that happenns on the window of time where it produces a metalic sound, while the parry window seems to be a bit more forgiving it just requires alot more training since you have a whole cutscene before the actual parry
@@brianswigers1874 as I said, even if the parry windows are bigger you have to time the whole twirling thing to match with the actual attacking frames, but hey if it's easier for you congrats it's a slick way to play the game
And that is why I find the Two Dragons to be the most fun weapon, even when I haven't fully figured it out. The R2 moveset in general is complicated, yet there's so much you can do once you can figure how you can even use some of its abilities.
If you're having an issue with andreus's blue attack, get close to him and go to his right or left. The attack only hits where the two heads are so it's super easy to avoid. Also you can run behind a pillar to avoid fuoco's big flame attack
Geopetto specifically cause the puppet frenzy to deal with the alchemist. the alchemist wont let him revive his son using puppet, because one of the ingredients he need was the arm of god, one of the alchemist relic. they wont give it to him, so he using the puppet to fight the alchemist, and the alchemist release the petrifying virus to deal with his puppet.
Just gonna put this here. Julian did very much know his wife was a puppet. When you return with the ring he asks you if it is so wrong that he and a puppet fell in love. Kinda hard to miss if you do the quest. Just saying my dood.
he misses a lot of things like when he said the wish guy was good, c'mon man its literally the ending credit scene, or when he said there's no signs of poverty....the malum district where all the poor people lived who were left behind by the puppet industrial revolution. (Used to be a small fishing coastal city until the discovery of Ergo). His biggest criticism was not knowing why G started the puppet frenzy...literally to kill people and harvest their Ergo. Simon to try to wake up god, Gep to betray Simon (they orignally worked together) and use the harvested Ergo and the arm of god to bring his son back from the dead). The secret rule 0 of the covenant where their creator is named Gep, he just classified the infected people as non human to make the puppets kill them while Simon sits back and harvests all the Ergo released by killed humans and destroyed puppets. You get a lot of the story by looking at the environment and the items/collectibles within that environment which answers a lot of his questions/criticism's all within the grand covenant following the rules.
1. I didn’t say there was no signs of poverty I said they never really make a point about this in the story, or have any characters in the world struggling from this 2. Ergo doesn’t come from humans lmfao it literally came from the puppets, and the bosses we killed there’s a whole cutscene that shows the bosses ergo being sucked up 3. Where is it stated that Gepetto and Simon worked together…
Well id not lmfao about the ergo part coming from the puppets because they literally state during the course of the game that ergo is crystallized life essence (memories, experiences emotions ect) It doesn't come from the puppets they used it to power the puppets. That's why puppets started awakening and having memories of their past lives. They even have subject 826 who is forced to eat ergo so he can see memories for the alchemists. He's eating souls, i mean its even in the introduction cinematic to the game they discover ergo and use it to power the puppets. Sorry man ergo comes from life and it's not even a theory or hidden plot point, ergo is literally crystalized life essence.
Even before that, there was literally a news article you pick up that talks about a man named 'J' who married a puppet, and he was considered a sick man while insisting that the two were in love. Thus when we do Julian's quest, we confirm he is the same man as 'J' in that article, AND he clearly knows the wife is a puppet. The story has few noticeable holes, if at all.
Lise of P is definitely is a lovely surprise and being the studio frist game and actually made it work and crafted in such passion is an achievement of its own and it doesn't deserve to be called flawed because the overall experience and execution is top tier even if i has minor issues but that's why it's minor because the great things overshadows it
Pretty much everything has “flaws” either subjectively or objectively saying something doesn’t have flaws is kinda weird. And I agree the great elements out shine the bad or decent elements but still don’t think this game is a 10/10
For anybody who wants an easier time playing through, do an advance build. It surprised me how many bosses I took out on my first try. Feel free to tell this to anybody that's still on the fence about the game.
Another thing you overlooked. Antonia did know about the passage, and she does mention it. If you talk to her after the earthquake she'll mention it. The only reason you can't use it is because it's sealed from the alchemist side(which she does state.) You can only use it after the attack because the alchemist open it when they attack the Hotel. My man, you mashed buttons through this game or something.
“Another thing” bruh u mentioned one thing here lol. Also no she doesn’t state that “The alchemists opened the secret passage way” she literally only mentions it after they attack the hotel
The mc names is P but Gepettos sons name was Carlo and our core/heart is his memories and personality so depending how you play you can become a real boy Carlo or stay a puppet P
Giving a review of bosses with a specter has to change your view quite a bit I would think. I did it solo the whole game and the bosses were oppressive at times. Every boss was 2 phases at the end and they became slogs to me. Just my thoughts..
Oh yeah for the King of puppets in Ng+ you can actually understand him, and you get to realize that he actually disobeyed Geppetto and started fighting the Alchemists. As Geppetto started the puppet frenzy to fight defeat Simon and his beasts and also to gather ergo to revive Carlo(That is P). He ordered the puppets to start killing Krat population infected with the petrification disease (Which was like the entire population at this point), the king of puppets broke free of Geppetto's will and started focusing fighting the monsters created by the petrification disease. Geppeto used the king of puppets as a scapegoat and that's why our main character didn't hear him out.
I just love that this game is kind of the other side of the Dark Souls coin in a way. In DS, its all about not losing your humanity, whereas in LoP its about gaining your humanity. I think that was their original working concept, but i could be wrong
I dont see anyone saying anything about this, but the reason you dont get access to the secret path to trismagistus from lady antonia is because you require the gold battery that you get from venigni after defeating the swamp monster in order to be able to call up the submarine that takes you to the alchemist island. without that lady antonia would just be opening up a secret passage to a dead end which would be of no use to you. Sure its not explicitly stated by neither antonia nor venigni but in my opinion thats pretty obviously the reason that she doesnt tell you ahead of time. Also to address the gold coin tree and why we didn't have access to it earlier in order to cure lady antonia before her disease even starts. You literally have to get the cure from Giangio, as he is actually a former alchemist he has experimented with the gold coin and he is the only one who both knows how to make the cure and is willing to help you. Just eating the gold coin fruit alone is not enough to cure the petrification so even if the people of the hotel had access to the tree, it would be of no benefit to any of them.
The attacks that push you back when perfect blocked are supposed to be forward dodged so you won't get pushed back. I think it was a good design choice.
I personally love all of the Stalker boss fights and the normal sized puppet boss fights. I felt like Zoro competing to be the worlds strongest swordsman. Those bosses also just narratively were more interesting to me as well since almost every other boss was merely giant ass puppets. The Nameless Puppet is actually my favorite that or the Black Rabbit Brotherhood
Just beat it as well-44 hours I hated it up until after I beat the arch bishop. Just couldn’t get the perfect block timing down until I found a playstyle for me you still do have to have some type of a grasp on the mechanic but it’s not a make all break all, when you have Spector and broken throwable’s. Certain enemies and situations they set you up in is down write illegal but I wouldn’t say elden ring bad-some are very close mind you (cough cough the Barron swamp or any beam parkour obstacle). Game forces you to use everything literally roll, block, perfect block, and parrying is very iffy tbh they have a diff Rhythm then the PB. I got the true ending and seen the after credit scene I really like the fairy tale concept and the story was enjoyable but I do feel like the pacing and gameplay was rough at times. Overall better than most souls like games we get , I’d say it’s the one of the best if not the best along with wo long, remnant:from the ashes, & Nioh. not counting from software games obv.
Not at all defending puppet of the future, but there is a lever to get rid of the poison water so you just fight it on dirt. Of course it’s guarded by one of the fire shovel robots though lol
The guy knows that his wife is a puppet. He believes in love between puppet and human and gives the ring to p if you fetch the ring to him after optaining it.
SPOILER ALERT!!! later on you can find out that his wife, the puppet, actually did love him and developed a conscience or, got her conscience back, since Ergo is distilled human souls, so to speak. You have to free someone from the Alchemist Isle, he says he'll go to Rosa Isabelle Street, talk to him there, and he'll point out where you can read it.
I only died once to Fouco, the first brotherhood fight and the second brotherhood fight. 3 times to Laxasia and once to the nameless puppet. No summons, I'd like to call myself that guy then.
I remember I beat archbishop on one try, felt good, then 2nd phase came around and I had one pulse cell lmao. Took me about 5 tries til a friend told me to just focus on his backside during the 2nd phase. I beat the brotherhood on first try and was ready for phase 2, and was surprised it didn't happen... So far the only boss that really kept hammering me, was the king of puppets, like you said that 2nd phase was brutal, til I equipped a heavy ass weapon and realised I can interrupt him when he goes haywire. Anyway, LoP is GOTY for me, if not for anything else, you can pick up the cat and wiggle it.
So im on NG++ and once you start playthrough 3, you can unlock a p-organ ability that allows you to block enemy red attacks. WHY IS IT LOCKED BEHIND 2 FULL PLAYTHROUGHS?!?!
I have strong theory on what happened to Carlos. There’s only one other event mentioned in the story but was never elaborated on and that was a train accident. I remember reading something about how Veligni’s train project was supposed to connect all of Krat but was forced to stop after a “Terrible Accident” happened.
I believe he died of the petrification disease. If u have fought the nameless puppet it’s believed that’s Carlos body. The puppet has its legs and maybe other limbs cut off those might be the limbs effected by said disease
I agree that combat just isn't as fun as jedi fallen order or sekiro.. lies of P is great, but enemies attacks are too awkward and unintuitive to get into a flow
I just used the booster glaive and wrench head until I got the live puppet axe then swapped out the wrench. Charge Heavy’s do about 2,000 damage and it carried me through the game.
The two dragon sword does a little *ching* and sparkle, and seems to have a slightly more forgivong window then the perfect guard, but it does have a wind up
one thing in this video is concerning the Two Dragon sword parry, it has really consistent parry windows with much more leniency as well as a attack back stunning enemies
I’m talking about when u hold R2 and u get a parry with that, that was inconsistent and I couldn’t find a clear way to see when it would and wouldn’t parry
This game is nothing but anger and frustration. Currently on the last chapter, had no fun the entire playthrough besides the Archduke and King of Puppets who were actually fun to fight. Anyone else is a mess of spamming attack strings and delayed attacks. Attack window is pretty small for the weapon I like to use as well (electric chainsaw)
not to brag, but I was that guy. The only boss that took me while was Laxasia who killed my like 4 times. But other than that this game was a comfortable weekend completion for me. Nameless Puppet was actually piss easy for me because I just parry baited him a lot, and killed him on my 2nd try. It took me 29 hours in total to beat Lies of P

Just so you all know, if you're going to start a new playthrough, you may want to wait for mid November. The devs are making a pretty major balance update set to come out then. Also why people should wait to make in depth reviews right off the go. Good chance this video will be outdated in several gameplay regards once the patch comes out.
The only flaws I can find so far (just beat Andreus) are the pixellations/grainy mists on/around some character's faces when talking. Also, Andreus's skin textures take a hot second to load during one part of his boss cutscene. Finally, the animal masks/nicknames thing felt a little too adjacent to "furry" detritis
Your arguments at min 13 is my biggest problem with this game. The combination of Sekiro parrying+guarding but with Bloodborne combat pacing and health pools is aggravating… Enemies having combo after combo after combo that are impossible to avoid due to lack of stamina or just how poor the dodge roll is, not to mention red attacks that are impossible to avoid. The combat is just not satisfying to me, it is a huge struggle half the time, and I haven’t had this issue in any other souls like before. Outside of the combat, everything about this game is phenomenal. One of the best soulslike, honestly, but it makes me more disappointed and want to play anything else. Star Wars Fallen Order, I believe/agree, has better combat pacing and diversity. Overall more satisfying and fair, when something goes wrong I usually feel it is my fault, as opposed to the game’s janky gameplay.

Your first few criticisms are all misunderstandings. And the Fuoco attack you complained about has a LONG windup before it actually starts. The Laxasia phase 1 attack that you complained about is consistent, it depends on which attack sequence she's doing, that dictates it. You mentioned parrying a lot, did you not get all the stuff that helps with it? The Absolute Defense Fable Art, the Perfection grindstone, etc. As for the katana weapon, it's consistent with its counterattack, the window is when you is after the swish swish sound.
I didn’t really use summons all that much? I only used them when I’ve already beaten the first phase and wanted to fight the 2nd phase quicker. I said in the beginning of the video not all gameplay is mine
Dude, you seem to have sped through dialogue causing you to miss a lot of plot points. Not really cool to blame that on the writers. The guy who was married to the puppet DID know she was a puppet and he has a whole speech about how he was ridiculed for marrying her. The secret passage had to be opened from the Alchemist’s side so that’s why it can only be opened after the attack on the hotel. Geppetto controls all of the puppets and caused the frenzy so it isn’t a stretch to assume he doesn’t allow them to openly communicate to P that he is a bad dude which explains the King of Puppets doing a puppet show to try to show P Geppetto intended to take his heart. Geppetto needed P to obtain the arm of god from the Alchemists and to gather loads of ergo to bring Carlo back so he started the frenzy to have a lot of puppets for P to fight and to weaken the alchemists. So, not so bad after all.

Ok soooo…
the guy with the puppet wife knew she was a puppet but fell in love with her anyway.
We learn how Carlo died on the beach of the alchemist isle
Even if they knew the tree was next to the hotel they still didn‘t have a cure since that is provided by the half dead guy ,I forgot his name, that u rescue at the cathedral and his research
Idk about this one but…Geppetto started the puppet frenzy to fight the petrification disease and sometimes I wonder if the puppets actually only killed ppl that were sick from the petrification disease but idk
I think, the puppets went haywire since almost everyone even those not infected with ergo’ petrification disease were at some level were targetted since they couldn’t specify at what level to address the disease. This might have led to dysfunction between the law and the new programming to attack petrified “zombies”? it ended up attacking everyone
Thank you. I cringed during the first part of this video.
Seems to me you skip a lot of dialogues (or quick smash a lot of them )
The submarine need Golden Ergo from Swamp monster to activate, thus why Antonia didn't give you the key earlier cuz it'd be pointless.
As for the cure for Antonia, only that alchemist guy knows how to make. None of the people in the hotel have any knowledge of how to make the cure at that point.
We dont encounter him until after we beat the Black Brotherhood, so it'd be pointless to give the golden fruit to Antonia first.
The character animations in this game look really fluid and clean.
They are for the most part
On the flame boss fight you are meant to run behind the pillars to avoid the fire
I mean sure but sometimes he’ll do it when no pillars are close enough, other times the pillars will get destroyed, or it’s both
@@C0LIN.Then it's failure on your part.
It's your job to manage space in this fight to preserve enought pipes and escape the fire, it's part of the fight
@@C0LIN.Yeah that's a skill issue homie
When the furnace boss is about to spill fire on the ground, just hide behind the pillars and it doesnt damage you
For your complaint around min 13: The game actually tells you that you should keep the boss ergos because you can exchange them for power full items later.
Also for conusmables there is a vendor that sells them indefinetly.
Can’t buy weapons back though
@@DnDM- why would you sell a weapon?
regarding the secret passage to the alchemist island.
Keep up the good work.
p.s when you have the overheat affliction you can Roll to remove it fast making the kings flame boss a joke.
the katana is just a harder parry, it supposed to parry attacks that happenns on the window of time where it produces a metalic sound, while the parry window seems to be a bit more forgiving it just requires alot more training since you have a whole cutscene before the actual parry
its not harder , actually has a much more lenient parry windows
1. I didn’t say there was no signs of poverty I said they never really make a point about this in the story, or have any characters in the world struggling from this
2. Ergo doesn’t come from humans lmfao it literally came from the puppets, and the bosses we killed there’s a whole cutscene that shows the bosses ergo being sucked up
@C0LIN. I meant "another thing:" based on the rest of the comment section railing you for missing the whole puppet wife thing you missed.
@@stackedjack8886 Got ya, should’ve clarified that better. But if u’ve seen those comments u already know I conceded to the point.
@@C0LIN. that's why he made a new point :)
4:53 Because P sees everyone as a threat, even the KoP. Gepetto basically makes him believe that the puppets are out for harm and are no good.
That was a really solid video man. Nice job
2:30 Giangio is Paracelsus in credit secen so bad guy
3:50 He knew her wife is puppet
I know a reason for shadowplay disabling is that a windows update is idle in the background. At least that was what happened to me alot
I just love that this game is kind of the other side of the Dark Souls coin in a way. In DS, its all about not losing your humanity, whereas in LoP its about gaining your humanity.
I think that was their original working concept, but i could be wrong
Nah, the dude totally knew his wife was a puppet.
17 days. Great video Colin been loving the content

Actually, that guy does know his wife was a puppet. Some notes hint at that, i forgot which one. And yes he sure does love her, but not society.
I like taking the fire axe handle and putting the big pipe wrench head on it and then beating people with a wrench as Pinnochio is endlessly fun

To be fair you should know bosses' souls can be exchanged for items at this point. Unless it is your first souls like
not to brag, but I was that guy. The only boss that took me while was Laxasia who killed my like 4 times. But other than that this game was a comfortable weekend completion for me.
Dude he knew his wife was a puppet, he specifically tells us
The game was fun, but it isn't a game I could see myself replaying in a long time.

The puppets of the future are so stupidly easy it's almost laughable
He definitely knew she was a puppet
