Here's the thing, the internet was not something that really existed then, and with no information I had no Idea most of them were demos, and I didn't understand why in god's name I couldn't progress the game.

Demo's never left. They just evolved. 'Early Access' for all its faults, it just an extension of the purpose Demo's served. The biggest difference is that a demo is just one build of the game given to you while Early Access is a demo that is updated to whatever current iteration the game is in.

The return of demos is exactly what we need. Being able to get hands on with something before you buy. Especially when asking for $70 for most games now is so critical.
Demos have saved me money and also made me preorder games.

The Resident Evil 4 Demo was fun enough for me to immediately preorder the game after finishing the demo. My first preorder ever in over 22+ years of gaming. And it was worth it, because I ended up playing through the game 9 times, finished it on the hardest difficulty, unlocked everything, yada yada.

@@aninfinitemindofmusicandreams that’s what I’m saaaaaaayin. I’m more likely to preorder or buy games I might not because I got to play it. I trust 0 interviews from developers as too many times I’ve fallen for lies. There is literally one studio I still trust when they do releases (Larien Studios making Baulder’s Gate 3) because what they say actually happens and it’s clear that what they’re saying is real.
Not like “we are gonna have you go from ground to space, no load screens”
      We get
“The first major road block was realizing that we needed the player to acquire this box but in an effort to make the path feel authentic and chosen we realized how massive this was going to be. I found myself frustrated, thinking we came up with the last one and then someone would should something new and we would have several more”
One tells us a promise, the other talked about what they wanted and the process they went through to get.
And when they had things to cut they then just said it before launch as opposed to letting us find out. Super rare for a studio to truly be transparent.
Demos are such a huge step towards that transparency. AHHHH I have a lot of feelings about this and love the return to form.

@Jacky The Noot Zoot I've never been as duped playing something that was nowhere near what was promised as I'd been with Cyberpunk. I try to not get myself hyped for most games these days without first seeing enough footage and a demo before release. If it doesn't have a demo I'm not buying it until later when I've confirmed it's a good game and runs well enough. I feel for the poor souls who preordered Redfall.
I just played about half an hour of this demo, it's quite solid and does most things well enough but it'll have to wait cause I got FFXVI to pick up. SE have been showing absolute confidence in that game with all the footage, trailers, letting many people play it early on and with the upcoming demo I'm quite hyped for it. After that it's Fires of Rubicon and Spidey 2. Hoping for a small demo slice of Armored Core VI. I know From Soft don't usually do demos but I'm new to the AC series and I'd like to check out a demo before playing.

I’m so glad I dodged redfall. Redflag one was I couldn’t find really anyone talking about it up to release.
I’m looking forward to Lies of P and I need to get re4 still (I need to make myself play more games I already own before I get it)
Suicide Squad kills the Justice League was something I was excited about but fuck I cannot stand even one more live service game. If I see “battle pass” or “live service” you no longer get my money because I reject the idea with every fiber of my body.
If that means playing bloodborne, jedi survivor or Spiderman one more time then I’m fine with it. Because I love those games (flaws and all)

@Jacky The Noot Zoot I enjoy Cyberpunk too after all the patches and additional content. As of now it's a very solid game. But it's still not the game that was promised. We weren't expecting just a solid game. There's promised features and options that still don't exist in the game as of yet. But here's to Cyberpunk Orion. CDPR fell so hard that the only way for them to go is rocket up the stratosphere again.

Dont know if he figured it out, but this game focuses heavily on blocking and perfect blocking instead of parrying or dodging (you get chip damage if you dont perfect block, but can regain health afterwards by hitting the enemy, similar to Bloodborne). You can still parry with some weapons e.g. rapier, but its a special move that uses energy (LB+Y), you can dodge as well but dodging in any other direction other then stepping back is slow and offers very little i frames. Therefore concentrate on perfect blocking to not lose health, even special red moves that are 'unblockable' can be blocked with perfect block. There is also a similar concept to staggering enemies like in Bloodborne, as well as a weapon durability similar to Monster Hunter, where the less durability you have the less damage you do, so sharpen that blade with your grinder elbow. Hope this helps...

I just beat the whole thing in one sitting. Wasn’t being super fast and it about 3 and a half hours. I was very very impressed, and I definitely will be getting the full game in September. It ran perfectly, it looks beautiful, and the gameplay for the most part was really solid. The only issue I had was that, the way they built certain enemies definitely seems to favor a dexterity play style. I tried my first run with the strength greatsword and I hit a couple areas (namely the first boss) where the slower attack speed definitely put me at a disadvantage that I feel like the rapier would cruise through. After I upgraded the weapon a couple times and leveled up a bit, my damage output increased and I started feeling better about it, but it is something to be mindful of I guess. Still, it was a blast overall and I’m really glad they put out a demo. This game went from barely being on my radar to being something I’m greatly looking forward to.

I have just defeated the circus boss last night and I gotta say this game is sort of Sekiro-ish but not really, which makes it a bit more unique than its inspirations but also takes a while to get used to. As expected the first boss is a skill check. You are encouraged to block instead of dodging (which you can still do but it's a lot harder to pull than say, Bloodborne), be aggressive and fill up your opponent's groggy meter (which are not shown until their life bar flashes) and then pull off a charged heavy attack to stagger it before finishing with a backstab for huge damage. What makes it a bit confusing for new players is that blocking still hurt you, so at first you're kind of wondering what you're supposed to do here. I think they're actually trying to encourage you to practice perfect parry as it is the only way to block the red glowing attacks (and if I'm not mistaken perfect parry doesn't give you chip damage), that's why there's a punching bag puppet next to the merchant.

You only receive no damage if you pull off a perfect guard BUT after normal guards you can get your health back. Nice touch every game is better with rally.
The respawning of a healing item after enough hits on an enemy is a fantastic mechanic.
It seems like they took a lot of the cool ideas from several Souls games and made them into a solid little product.

The UI and Controls are a bit of a mess, on K&M at least.
For example, I bound the strong attack to middle mouse click, just like I do in Souls games. I then bound the switch item buttons to 1 and 2. However, the scroll wheel for some reason also switches between items, even though that binding isn't shown anywhere in the settings. So what keeps happening is that if I accidentally scroll slightly while I'm hitting strong attack, I accidentally switch item away from my heal without noticing. Very annoying and weird thing for them to do.
