I met EVH and the rest of the band at Disney World the day after a show in Lakeland, FL. We first saw DLR walking down Main Street with his bodyguard with several fans in tow. We eventually caught up with DLR at a bar in the Polynesian Resort. We chatted a while, he signed our ticket stubs, and he told us we could catch up with the rest of the band at their bus. We hung out at their bus in the parking lot. Eddie and Valerie handed out beers and VH guitar picks, and signed autographs. They were incredibly gracious to us I’ve met many celebrities over the years, even people who have walked on the moon. I have never been as star-struck as i was that day in 1981. His music was the sound of my youth and his passing hit me pretty hard. May he Rest In Peace.

This was one of the first clips I found on on one of those illegal download sites in the late 90's. Watched it over and over for years. Still have that old laptop, with this clip still on the hard drive. Good times.
Once again we are reminded of the multitude of TALENT that we had when it was rock n roll. How lucky we where to experience for decades when you better have talent to survive. RIP EVH.

Remarkable video, with Eddie so at ease with his guitar. Also amazing is Paul Schaffer's arrangement. Schaffer is an absolute genius. He brought rock and roll to the fore back in the 80's when all the other late night shows were still playing jazz.
Genuine and supremely gifted, he just exuded the love he had for music and the guitar, and playing with other musicians. A legend gone too soon. RIP Mr. EVH.

Eddie is gone most likely because he smoked. And it's not like he didn't know how bad cigarettes were for him. The fact that he publicly blamed it on a guitar pick instead of his years of chain smoking was pretty ridiculous IMO. If had quit smoking he'd probably still be alive.

Yeah, I don’t get why there’s all the hate for Paul. Sure, he’s a weird little guy, but the dude can play. All the organ needed here was more volume. (I defy anyone to come up with a better way to try to do DLR’s vocal part on a keyboard!)
Always loved the way Eddie was always smiling and having fun playing. Whether he was the lead guitarist, or jamming with someone else he was always having fun.

RIP EVH.
Rest In Peace Eddie!
So relaxed. So cool. So happy. Eddie's vibe was infectious. His guitar sound, his own. RIP great one.
Dang, I just started listening to Van Halen this year. They are one of the best bands of all time...RIP Eddie 🙏🏽
I like Paul Schafer throwing in a little of his own style in the mix.
Yeah, I don’t get why there’s all the hate for Paul. Sure, he’s a weird little guy, but the dude can play. All the organ needed here was more volume. (I defy anyone to come up with a better way to try to do DLR’s vocal part on a keyboard!)
I agree. A great talent Paul is
RIP EDDIE ! Rock Legend. !🤘🍺
You can really see the band are buzzing to be Playing with Eddie 🎸
Always loved the way Eddie was always smiling and having fun playing. Whether he was the lead guitarist, or jamming with someone else he was always having fun.
I was lucky, I got to see them twice.
Eddie was the pioneer of modern guitarists. Life is way too short.
There will never be another like Eddy!
1984 was my first VH album, still listen to it today. Incredible music. Thank you Eddie and peaceful journey.
The way he salutes his band says everything.
Eddie Van Halen on lead, Paul Schaffer on keyboard, Bob Segar on bass, Huey Lewis on rythym, and Andre 3000 on drums
I laughed outloud!!!!
Steve jordan, i think :)
In my life, I’ve never smiled as genuinely as Eddie holing his guitar. Part of me has died...but the part of me that lives knows his music will be played at every moment in perpetuity. Thank you Eddie’s mom: you gave us a gift for eternity.
My one true idol. King Edward.
June 2023. Still tear up when I think about it.
Wasn’t expecting to see Steve Jordan on the drums here dayum...
