I think the floating house idea makes a lot of sense, it would give a lot of protection. I've used the idea at other locations many times now. Good luck with your build!
My head canon for spawn points inside a settlement walls is that the attackers did a Trojan Horse, posing as settlers or traders until some idiot guard opened the gate without checking them! "Dammit Reg, how many times do I have to tell you to check their weapons *before* you open the gate?!"
I know you can drag the body out of the load cell but I just I don't have the patiance to drag the body that far. I haven't tried just dropping it in the water. I guessed it would respawn like the Sunshine bodies do? I'll give that a try, thanks.
Spawn points _inside_ the settlement area are just the worst. I built my wall around Sanctuary _three times_ before I found out that my impenetrable concrete fortifications were completely and utterly useless against the enemies spawning inside them. This broke the lore and the world building so much for me that I lost interest in the entire building mechanic completely and gave up my destined-for-greatness settlement half finished.
I agree totally. I had a very similar reaction to my first Sanctuary settlement. What I came to realise is that because NPCs can't climb your walls would be really OP. I think it was most likely done for balance. It still sucks and does break lore. But the more I thought about it, raiders etc, would likely be able to climb over or dig under most of the walls in the game anyway. What I ended up doing is taking note of the spawn points and mostly just building inside them where possible. For settlements like this where you don't have much room I just choose to ignore it. If settlements get attacked while I'm away I tend to just leave them to it. Most of the time they defend themselves fine and if not repairs are easy anyway. While I do take note of the spawn points I don't let that dictate what I build too much. I just enjoy building what I think makes sense in the world. A lot of my builds have a mostly lore-friendly RP approach.
@@FalloutPBC I agree. Balancing this would be difficult. But then, NPCs could simply be made to use the doors and then have to deal with the automatic weapons installed there. I was hoping for coming home and finding the remains of a few raiders behind my portcullis under the murder holes. _That_ would have been immersive. But I guess you can't have it all. Nice build, anyway. Thanks for the tour!
@@Noone-of-your-Business You are totally right, there is a lot more they could have done to improve this side of the game. That's one of my big frustrations with Bethesda. I really do think they could have continued to work on upgrades and content for this game for many years. The other thing with the attack system that I don't like is how your settlers go running out into the open to fight! You build all these cool defenses and they go running out like nutters! Lol. Glad you enjoyed the tour, thanks for watching and commenting.
To get rid of annoying corpses that refuse to decompose use the console commands. For PC you open the console, click on the corpse (their unique id number should show up at the top) then type "disable" (without quotation marks), then hit enter, and exit the console commands, and presto chango the corpse she is gone. Have Fun :)!
Thanks for the heads up for all the PC players. Sadly not possible on the Xbox or Playstation platforms without mods. But I have come up with an interesting method, I placed two metal draw units over the body. Completely hides the body and is a nice functional piece of furniture.
@@FalloutPBC Well another option (but a time consuming one), is to carry the bodies to another cell and dump them there. My understanding is if you dump them elsewhere in the current cell they will return, but if you carry them to another cell and dump them they won't. Worth a shot for folks who can't use the console command to get rid of them.
@@simdoughnut659 It is an option but one that was more trouble than it was worth for me! lol I find it deeply frustrating that Bethesda didn't fix this and a few of the more glaring bugs before abandoning the game.
I like that you, for the most part, kept it pretty lore friendly, (i really dont like CCs making big concrete behemoth blockhouses and stuff that just dont belong) but if i were to have any criticism, it would be that its too "square", nothings been put at angles or use of curves, and a few too many repeating textures eg using the same railing piece all along the same walkways, the same wall used for the whole length etc, but other than that it looks great.
I agree about the massive concrete structures etc, those types of builds just don't work for me. I really do like to at least try to keep my builds lore friendly, with some allowance for just having fun with the building system and experimenting with some of the wilder content. At the end of the day, it is a game and you players should always feel free to just have fun however they like of course. I disagree about the look of this one not being scrappy enough. I strongly dislike builds that are scrappy for the sake of it. I don't buy into the idea that you have to always alternate railings and wall textures etc. For me, that breaks lore almost as much as the giant settlements. I do use the scrappy look but only in settlements where I feel it would be more basic and improvised naturally. If the major factions of this world can build something like the Prydwen they can certainly build straight mono-textured building walls or have railings on a walkway made of the same material. For me, it just comes down to who the faction is that's in control. A handful of settlers will be very scrappy by necessity, a significant base of a main faction would have the resources and knowledge to be generally more regular looking and tidy. With factions like the Brotherhood and Institute around 2077 and beyond tech and building techniques are very much still likely to show up. Still, that's just my two cents on what is or isn't lore friendly. Lots of people enjoy running around the game with lightsabres or modern-day weapons and such like and that's all cool too. Thanks for watching and leaving such an interesting comment. It's much appreciated.
I’ve never actually seen someone fence off and include the road, makes a ton of sense to control the path. Shame the spawn point there in the middle can’t be moved in vanilla FO4.
I know right! I was always surprised to see anyone build inside the road. I always thought controling the road would be vital. You are spot on, it's really frustrating how Bethesda placed so many of the spawn points inside settlements.
@@FalloutPBC what could be neat is a bigger interior wall where the outer crop fence is currently, and keep the main defensive posts/turrets on the interior wall. That way you have the road closed off still, but the protection is better logistically for the inhabitants. Worst case just stick a shotgun turret or traps facing the trouble spot 😂 Anyways nice work as always, actually started up FO4 again after seeing some of your build ideas!
@@pistolpete7422 That's a really good idea! Not sure why I didn't do that. I think I'll do that when I build here with the Brotherhood. Thanks again Pete! It's always great to hear when someone gets back into the game from one of my videos.
Interesting non mod build. The default scrapping is ridiculous so I always use a mod. Even then not all mods will remove the dead body on the second floor. Scrapping the damaged roof makes it easier and scrapping bushes makes it look like what settlers would eventually decide to do.
I had this place sitting in my quest list for a while because I never got around to making a settlement here, and then the Railroad told me to turn it into a base of operations. Well, this gonna be an awkward conversation I'm gonna have to have with someone later.
How do you get so much concrete? It's difficult to find cement, especially that much, and certainly not that much for ALL your settlements. Also, it looks like you built more than that settlement level bar will allow. How did you do that?
This is a playthrough build so all the materials were gathered naturally in-game. When they added the material bulk packs to the vendors it made it much easier to farm water and buy building supplies. Every couple of in-game days I collect the water from here and the other big water farms I have at Warwick homestead and The Castle ( Both of those build tours are coming in the new year ) Then I head to Diamond City and Bunker Hill and buy any materials I need. As for the size bar, I explain that in this video ruclips.net/video/pd21BSlfLuA/видео.html Be sure to take note of my advice on only doing this once or twice on Xbox One or PS4 Make sure to watch part two aswell so you know ALL the ways this can be done. The building tips playlist has an introduction to the rug and piller glitchs too, if you need help on those.
Only if the settlers had a bit better A.I to help builds this beautiful and well thought out function better. I built up some nice areas and the ai just stand around at the house with the power armor rig instead lol.
It is frustrating. Sometimes I'm amazed at how good the A.I. is when I build something really complex and the settlers navigate around it in no time. Then later they are all standing in one room ignoring all the features around them. It is very strange.

@@simdoughnut659 It is an option but one that was more trouble than it was worth for me! lol
I find it deeply frustrating that Bethesda didn't fix this and a few of the more glaring bugs before abandoning the game.
Worst case just stick a shotgun turret or traps facing the trouble spot 😂
Anyways nice work as always, actually started up FO4 again after seeing some of your build ideas!
I've been making modded builds for my personal games for years now. I'll get some of my modded builds up one day hopefully.
I had this place sitting in my quest list for a while because I never got around to making a settlement here, and then the Railroad told me to turn it into a base of operations. Well, this gonna be an awkward conversation I'm gonna have to have with someone later.
Lol! Interesting place to have the Railroad safehouse.
Every couple of in-game days I collect the water from here and the other big water farms I have at Warwick homestead and The Castle ( Both of those build tours are coming in the new year )
Then I head to Diamond City and Bunker Hill and buy any materials I need.
As for the size bar, I explain that in this video ruclips.net/video/pd21BSlfLuA/видео.html
Be sure to take note of my advice on only doing this once or twice on Xbox One or PS4
Make sure to watch part two aswell so you know ALL the ways this can be done.
The building tips playlist has an introduction to the rug and piller glitchs too, if you need help on those.

Thank you very much.
Indeed. I built such a nice board walk housing area using my own desing with sim settlements and they never go down there. Heart breaking lol. I need a game like fallout, but with amazing build tools like valhime...looking foward to seeing your new videos.
@@specrtre I had lots of problems with settler behavior in Sim Settlement too. Thanks for the support lots more build videos are on the way. Hopefully next year if I can secure the funding to keep the channel going.
Didn't you try the disable command to remove the dead body? For me this works... I use the disable command a lot in my settlements. 😉
Thanks but all my builds are on Xbox.
Usually, in my build videos, I mention that at the start. I must have forgotten this time sorry.
@@FalloutPBC oh no worries. I probably could have seen it. 😉 Do you know how to remove the rotten bramins? Or do you just build over them?
BTW: this is a really nice build you made 👍🏼
@@R0N1N_78 Thank you, I apreciate that.
There is no way to remove the brahmin on Xbox. I do tend to find ways to build over things where possible yes. On my latest playthrough at Taffington I put two metal storage draw units over the body. It worked well, looks good and was functional.
The spawn points are ridiculous. I would question why they are inside the build area, but it's Bethesda so go figure. 🤷
I agree, I have no idea what possesed them to put spawns inside the build limits.
this settlement is the worst for me i keep losing settlers from droning
As settlers can't die in the base game, I'm guessing you have a mortal settlers mod on?
@@FalloutPBC yup more realistic lol
@@Shaun0057 That it is.
Thinking about it, I don't think I've ever seen a settler go into the water. Are you sure they are drowning?
@@FalloutPBC when you build over the water and run up to a settlement they render before the buildings and fall in to the water 8p
@@FalloutPBC i dont fast travel i play surv mode 8)
That 'Bunkhouse' is OUTSIDE THE BUILD AREA! "No Mods" My Ass!
That whole section of water is very much inside the build area, lots of people build there. THERE ARE NO MODS ON THIS BUILD!!! Go check in the game right now... I'll wait for your apology...
I'm still waiting for my apology...
Still waiting...
