Watching non-Pontiac people work on Pontiacs is painful. Learn about it before you work on it.
Pontiacs will run hot if you don't gap the water pump plates to the impeller correctly.
The "terrible design" of the timing housing to the intake usually leaks because the person that put it together didn't do it right. First leave all the intake bolts loose on the intake. Then tighten the front bolt from the timing cover to the intake. Last tighten the intake to the heads.
Pontiacs are not a damn Chevy easy button. You have to know about them to know how to work on them.
Hey, I never claimed to know everything.
😂
sounds like a bla bla bla post 🤣
All hail the mighty Chief knowall and his superior knowledge of questions no one asked
@@siklawolfy3325 oh no...they said something bad about me...whatever shall I do?
Oh I know!!
_.!.. ..!._
😆 Have a nice life roflmao
Overlaying the Puddin pressure washing video was genius and hilarious
The plates behind the water pump are diverter plates. They have to be set at a specific gap for clearance with the impeller, if not the engine will run hot. And the intake leak sucks, but if you tighten the timing cover to the intake before you run the intake bolts down it usually.....usually, won't leak. Pontiac V-8's are definitely a learning experience, they can be quirky.
That's some deep tribal knowledge, Chief.
@@JeffKopis Just passing on knowledge from things I've learned the hard way. 😁
Thanks for the info!
MoJo is a national treasure! You are either smart, or lucky to share a shop and time with him. Loving the Pontiac content.😊
Don't know what you will do without Mojo if he retires !
Indeed
The puddin pressure washing overlay just made my Monday
The "Mortske Minute" is back! Thanks dude.
welcome!
Sadly he's not lying about tattle tales who are going to snitch either. Amazing isn't? You now know who the people you hated backin middle school are. Morons never change. They just get dumber
The Puddin ghost pressure washing with you 😂😂😂
Gotta love the guy's that take everything apart and never put anything back together. At least he parted with it .
You and Mojo really built some excitement by putting that old beauty back together after it sat in baggies and a dusty barn for decades. Hearing these oldies start up for the first time is always nothing less than magical to witness.
Right on!
The Puddin music for the pressure washer bit had me rolling 😂
I’m so excited to see this Pontiac!! Yes!
Me too!
Classic pressure wash with puddin music. Love the friendly banter between you too. Gotta go get a mortske hat now in hopes of getting free swag! Keep up the great work!
Will do!
Very cool project! My father had a new 1964 Bonneville and my uncle liked it so much he bought a used 1963 Grand Prix which started a Pontiac tradition in the family for a few years 😊
Good times!
When I was 16 in 71’, my first car was a 64 Catalina Convertible, 421 with 3 deuces, 411 rear end, 3 speed on the tree with 8 lug wheels, manual brakes and steering. Dark blue, white top. I even had factory am-fm with reverb in it.😜I paid $500 dollars for it. Beat the hell out of it. Got 3 miles to a gallon of gas. I loved it. Damn, I should have kept it.
What a cool car!
@@MortskeRepair Thanks. Used to go through a set of tires a month. Nobody could change the tires because of the 8 lug wheels. Finally one guy took the spare tire holding plate and torched a hole in it so it would clamp on the tire changer. The guy who got it after me had a loose clamp on the distributor, the distributor turned and threw off the timing and it backfired through the carbs. Melted them right into the manifold. I could have had the car back for free, but I had no money to fix it, so off to the dump it went. Thanks for letting me tell my story. I haven’t told this in about 40 years.
@@timzelk4079 Oh man! that's a shame!
HEY! Good morning and thumbs UP! It is always awesome to get a new video from Mortske Repair!!
This is the most fun I've had in a long time, on a Sunday night!! Sipping fine bourbon, watching it snow. I love watching your shows !😊😊😊
Glad you enjoyed it!
The power washing music was PERFECT! 😂
You and MoJo are like Bateman n Robin the dynamic duo....work well together....MoJo is old school classic what a legend...
Wow what a great find! You, Mojo and Duff did an awesome job putting it back together. Keep up the good work and the awesome content 👍✌️🇺🇲
Saving an orphan Pontiac does my heart good. Thanks Mortske..
It's the Mojo and Mortske show. Always a good laugh when they get together and work on something. I love the video.
I like how Duff finds the dirtiest part of the garage to drag himself through! Enjoy the ride home Mr. M!
He was slowly crawling off camera 😅
never fails!
It’s his Duff Duty!😂
I died laughing when I heard the Pudding theme music during the power washing 😂😂😂
Im almost 100% sure you can pull that 350 Pontiac timing cover and pump and put it on the 389, that way you get more of less "better options" with water pumps.
The intake to Water Pump is the bane of Pontiac guys.
I grew up in a 59 Pontiac . This is so awesome!😊😊
Right on!
Thanks for the Mortske Minute... Worst thing GM ever did (besides most everything they have built in recent times) is drop the Pontiac brand! Oldsmobile is a close second...
You can add how they screwed over retirees when Obomba bailed them out and put in that worthless chick as president. Btw, she earns $79,000+ a day… let that sink in.
This is definitely a high class car for your normal run of the mill. This is a high speck car! And in great non rusty shape. A very worthy revival! Good on you guys. Like your new low life hat! This car would be very cool resprayed in the original silver mist paint!
That car is the base model besides the AC. Bucket seats console, dual exhaust,389 4bl was standard on 63 grand prix
Couldn't agree more!
The MORTSKI MINUTE is a MUST for all video's.
It's Monday morning that means It's time for Mortske and Duff ,and the" More you you know " And today Sports fans we have a 63 Poncho GP Basket case ,this will be a interesting hour for sure ,will he get it all together in the hour or will this be a multi part series ,Stay tuned ,Hmmmm does he have a 421 stashed for the power plant some place ?. Mojo is worth his wight in gold in the Mortske Garage Shop it's hard to beat age and experience . Loved the Red Green show the duct tape special
Glad you enjoyed it Richard!
Hey! DD needs your help rebuilding a 1955 starter for his new Nomad.
I was thinking the same thing, while Dan was struggling with his starter. Lol
I'll send him a hammer!
LOL!@@MortskeRepair
What a beautiful rig. Definitely a keeper. Great content as always!
Mortske Monday AND pressure washing! Wow! What a day
In 1976, my great uncle gave me his 1965 Pontiac Catalina 4 dr hardtop... it was my "going off to college" car, and it was sure a lot nicer than my '59 Bel Air! The Pontiac had 64,000 miles on it with the 389 2bbl and TH400 trans and a 2.56 rear end. It had a fresh paint job (white) with perfect blue vinyl interior, and it had the "Ventura" trim package. Equipped with A/C and cruise control, it had manual windows and seats, and could easily hold 6 passengers. The trunk was enormous and could hold 5 mounted tires (14") or 4 dead bodies (estimated). I swapped the 2bbl carb/manifold for 4bbl equipment, and put on dual exhausts with "California Turbo" mufflers. This Grand Prix brings back memories for me, and whoever ends up with it is getting a sweet ride!
Good times
Great video ! Great find don’t see a lot of classic Grand Prix’s around anymore ! Hoops and casings look good ! Take care Duff, Mojo , and Sir. Thanks for dropping the knowledge on Pontiac history.
Our pleasure
Many of these 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 for a job well done Mort. Another American classic that'll see the road again.
the pott county theme song during the pressure washing was great. Can't go wrong with the trifecta of Mortske, Duff, and Mojo, the Mojo "teehee!" is always icing on the cake.
It’ll be a great car for someone. Kinda like a hot rod starter kit. You did most of the hard part, now someone can enjoy it and tinker with it on the side. Nice work, Mortske.
Very true!
Car rescue's are great but the old iron works, is a beast. great tool for fab work.
Happy Monday Morning !!
What a great way to start a week !!!
Love the Pontiac stuff !!
i love that crazy Duff pup. "What did you roll in now?" LOL.
Great to see/hear the Mortske Minutes again. They are Great Fun!
I sure wish I could afford this 1. .I am sure it's worth it! I hope whoever buys it treats it right!
I laughed out loud when you channeled your inner Puddin’ in the pressure washing scene. I’m telling you once you get a few tattoos and some sammiches in you, you will do your own shirtless pressure washing videos one day…..just make sure it’s above freezing!!! 😂😂 All the best to you and the best stinky dog on YT👍💪😎
Mojo. I enjoy his youthful spirit and years of knowledge! Enjoy this time in your life right now
Found my 63 sitting on a wooden plank trailer in Florida that tires were beginning to fall through. Paid $3k for her..got her to run, but she needs tons to get her to roll on her own. Tire date codes were from 1978..and had plenty of tread left. She came from Washington state...so you can imagine the rust issues..including the frame, but I have a really nice California frame. She's complete 389 with a bunch of extra parts. She won't win any beauty contests, but she'll see the road again. I'm patient and got...some skills..lol
Nice find here really clean and your price is realistic and fair. I've seen some terrible messes for $10k.
Great car, young man. Hopefully it will go to a good home. It sure deserves it.
I agree with you Sir
My favorite project car so far, love that beautiful rear tail light setup and the quad headlights.
The body looks straight and solid. The stance is perfect and love the wheels, might look better with CRAGARS.
Side pipes, extended shackles, air shocks, flex hoses...😂
noooo cragars
Glad to see Duff doing his job.
nice job and time getting it back together and running. its a real nice car better shape than most 10 year old cars. nice work mojo and duff. cheers morts.
I agree about rebuilding the motor, the only problem I’ve had with Pontiac motors are the heads and the new fuel don’t go well together for me, burned the exhaust valves, and the chance of finding a good running 400/455 engine transmission combination is doubtful, but at least the 76 up heads are good for new fuel
Hardened exhaust seats are not exactly rocket science.
@@JeffKopisya, but they cost money, and you need a machine work, depending on where you live that’s a challenge now, it’s impossible to get crap done around me in CT
Pontiac holds a special place in my soul as a car guy. My first car was a 71 Pontiac LeMans.
My first car was a 63 grand prix when you opened the door and showed the inside it was like a time warp very cool car
Don't you mean waRsh it?!
That's how we say here in WaRshington state😅
In Oklahoma they say "Worsh" 😅
My Mom's family is from Oklahoma, they say waRsh, SHE says wash.
My Dad's from here in OrYgUn, he says waRsh. My Wife's family's from OrYgUn, they say waRsh.
Excellent video Mortske, better then the Pott county thing!
I am jealous of the memories you are creating with Mojo..we all need to spend some time with the old timers while we can. Tomorrow isn't promised.
Absolutely
Very cool car. We really don't care how long the Mortske minute takes, just that you have it.
Thanks for bring back the Mortske Minute, always interesting stuff. Maybe consider making them a series of shorts?
This is the sickest Grand Prix! The originality is mint!
Very nice video , the Pontiac will be ,If not sold , a fine part of your stable of fine autos . Thank you for a Mortske Monday that will keep me happy till your next presentation . Be well , stay warm , and give Duff a pat on the back for his participation . Stuart in Ontario ..
Another Mortske Minute...yes!! I'm fascinated by the history you dig up.
Glad you enjoy it!
☕Another GREAT Mortske vid!!!!! 👍
Pontiac, accept no substitute. So more gooder. As a much younger man I had a 1964 Tempest convertible, a 65 Lemans that came out of a body shop with a GTO front clip & hood (same color as this one you're working on), a 1966 GTO, and 14 assorted 1968 to 1972 Lemans. One 68 Lemans also came out of a body shop. When they put the Pontiac letters back in the grille they must have been dyslexic. That one was a Ponitac lol. Good stuff today. Love the Pontiacs.
Good stuff!
Love the Puddins pressure washing parody😂
That is a very cool car. Great find. Always love the mortske minute.
It sure is!
WWWOOOWWW!!!!!!!!! This brings back some great memories. Back in 1987, I bought a 63 Bonneville with a Grand Prix interior. It was aquamarine poly, with the same-ish color interior, and in very good condition. It also had a 389 with a tri-power on it, with the correct color engine paint, the same trans as what you have with that same FFFF'ed up shift pattern, and a two tire fryer behind the back seat. Bumper to bumper that thing was a land yacht, checking in at more than 18 feet long, and it was a 2 door. If you were a fan of the TV show "Crime Story" my car was used for an episode that was filmed in Chicago. It was used as a get away car for some guys that were robbing jewelry stores. I was forced to part ways with her, long story and I don't want to aggravate myself telling the story. GREAT FIND!!!!! GREAT VIDEO!!!!!
Good times
That Pontiac is sweet! Watching you and Mojo working together is fun too. His skills and knowledge must be great to have around.
No doubt!
Mortske Monday is what Ed Sullivan was to Sunday.
Duff was having a ball in the barn. Very creative of Sir Thomas to get the front end assembled even before putting the GP on the trailer…Yankee thrift.
Thanks Mortske, Love the Duff!
Didn't wanna haul loose parts all the way home!
My dad bought a brand new 1962 Star Chief. Such a nice car. My brothers had GTOs, GPs, Bonnevilles all through the 60's and 70's. My first car was a '65 Catalina in 1974 with a 389, of course. Only Pontiac I ever owned. Became a Cutlass fan and drove 7 of those and currently drive a '97 Olds Regency every day, 193,000 miles with that good ol 3800 engine!! Love that car!
Awesome
Love when Duff photobombs like in the end. Good boy!
Mojo what a great help around the shop. You out did your self on this one great car and yes you can keep all of them .
What puzzles ME is how Mort sells off his BEST ones (63 Impala!), and holds on to so much worthless junk! 🤣
Boy what got into you put a basket case together in one episode
i enjoy spending my Mondays hanging out at Mortske's shop.
Glad to have ya!
I really like the Mortske minute of history..
I am only 36 and i remember watching the red green show when i was younger what a great show lol
Good stuff
Hey Mortske, I got a 1960 I'm working on right now. The site BOP parts or Buick, Olds, Pontiac parts has been a huge help with some of the rare, Pontiac only parts I've needed
Cool
This episode is packed with “The more you know” information.
That's a nice car. My friend had the 421 Catalina in hi school. With the 8 lugs 2 door coupe. Slow tell about 60. Then it was roering. What a boat. Watch all ur videos.. 🤘🤘 go samich.. 👍👍
Very cool!
You & Puddin crack me up. You win this point.
Mortske, Damn it, You Got One Of My Favorite Cars Now ! Bite Me !!! Lol ! 🍻👊😎👍🍻
My first car was a 4-door Pontiac, with a 400. Man, that thing would scoot on down the road!!! Got about 18-20MPGs too, as long as I didn’t get ignorant with it. That 35 gallon fuel tank was awesome too!! It what I was driving when I met my wife in 1996. Huge back seat in that thing!!
Oh boy
@@MortskeRepair Yep, and, when she’d decide to fuss at me about my driving or something like that, I’d sure let her ride back there all by herself!! 😇😎
Hey us older gearheads remember in the 60s PUT A TIGER IN YOUR TANK
Yup
Let me tell you right now...ol Mojo living the life we all want at his age. ❤
Absolutely
Central California watching
You, Duff, and your entire team really work steadily. Head down and get after it. Impressive!!
loved my Ponchos, had several ,Tri power and 421s check the guilds in heads ,always good runners would love to have my 65 2+2 421 4speed again
Good times!
Mojo’s giggle is the best
i really like the videos where Mojo is involved more. Thumbs up for MoJo.
I'll let him know
63 is my birth year wish I lived close I would buy this thang.
It was nice that you let the old guy supervise!😊
Always
MoJo on point with Bluetooth oil funnel 💪
can’t wait to see this one drive and hopefully come back for finishing up
Hey Mortske 👋, Duff , Mojo and a nice 63 . Thanks for sharing. Have a great week ahead.
Same to you!
Love the Mortske minute!
I always had a special feeling about Pontiacs. Reading the pinned comment from Werewolf486 finally let me know what that special feeling is. Thanks to you Werewolf for clearing up that lifetime confusion.
Confirmed
I’ll say it every time Mortske’s minute is so cool love listening to the history. Air hose will separate 2-5gallon buckets. Just shoot the air between them. They come right apart
it's a handy trick to know
From the amazing Pontiac to Mojo hanging out with you ON camera as well as the history bit - best Monday release in a while Mortske! The Puddin Pressure wash was a hoot! Pet Duffer for me!
Liked seeing you wearing the old ball cap.
That Mojo is quite the character lol I could see myself working all day with him
Mojo has a contagious laugh great job on a very nice car
Love watching you and Mojo team up on this great find!
Yay! Thank you!
