The resonator is a great example of how all guitars voicings have a place. I have always prioritized neck feel, balance, setup and my attack. I'm in the minority, but I find a ton of utility in carbon acoustics for this reason. Don't get me wrong, I love an old Martin like the rest, but for me, I need a dependable road worthy guitar first.
on a wing and a prayer is a WWII era song that found its way into the hands and heart of Joseph Spence from the Bahamas. Spence was recorded in the 50s and those recordings found their way into the hands and hearts of people like Ry Cooder. All good things are connected.
For folks who don’t know the Joseph Spence version, check it out. He has one of the craziest and compelling rhythm senses you ever heard. It’s like someone with two left feet who can, nonetheless, get down like J Lo when she was a flygirl on Living Color. Which is to say, it makes no sense at all and is awesome.
What a fun day at work with Uncle Larry. THANKS BUK!!! The Resonator is now in the studio routine...and never to leave, I would imagine. It sounds great, you could probably bake a good pie in that guitar.
Felt like I was transported into a Cooder-esque movie score like The Long Riders. Old school is just plain better. No other way around it. Thanks for the tune!
I have a feeling Uncle Larry could really give a care about that whole relationship thing right now. Not everyone needs to fall back into something immediately. Time for his boys, his music, and his session work is top priority , I hope! Lol!
If the music biz doesn’t work out for the camera guy, he shows great potential in photography. Footnote; I can’t believe they let that guy in a church.
Hey Tom❤Skool for the ever awaiting stewdants. actually working that’s why I was late but it was funny I was in a store and on the overhead I heard highway song. I should’ve known you’d be posting today.
I have a very important question for any Homeskooler: Do the t-shirts run a bit big, or tight? I am right smack in between L and XL depending on the brand. I could always order 2 sizes I guess, but I would appreciate a quick answer on this before ordering. Wife says if I shed some of myself I would probably have no problem fitting the L, but I'm feelin' the XL a little more. Thnx.
I'm just happy you've got a proper rest for your backside. Significantly lowering the possibility of another face plant into a studio wall. I'm still amazed that the thumbnail was the only casualty. Is the seat now a cartage fixture?
Great job Uncle Larry! I had to go back and listen to Ry Cooder's recording of it. Hearing my ole friend Jim Dickinson playing piano brought a tear to my eyes.
Dear Uncle Larry, just the other day I was wondering what ever happened to that old church you and the boys from the East Nashville Guitar Club invested in. Nice to see what you've done with the place. Carry on (my wayward son). Cheers!
Damn Tom you got me praying that there might be a few more like this coming up sometime soon! You sure know how to make going to church worth the effort! Hell I’d be a very religious man if I had this to look forward to! Thanks Uncle Larry received my copy of In Stereo late last week can’t get enough of it! Best release of the past couple of years IMO.
I strongly suggest that you record that one and put it on the next album. Just you and the guitar…first song or last song. Would be cool as can be man! 👍

You beautiful bastards ❤
Great stuff love Ry Cooder you do it justice uncle Larry thank you for sharing you put a smile on my face
Thanks for checking in Uncle, great old song for the aging WWII Vets like my 101year old dad, still ready for a fight.
The greatest generation WWII....Best of the best.
@@michael.darrin1963I agree compared to them we suck
Two uncles, my dad and my grandfather signed up to fight the Nazis. Not a draft dodger or felon among them.

Never heard of him. Went down a short Joseph Spence rabbit hole and I think I like him.
Oh man that was awesome!!! Reminds me of being a kid in church. Good times 😊
Please record an album with you singing - LOVE to hear your voice Tom!

Love it Uncle Larry, your voice, that guitar and that song just go together perfectly.
Yeah, for a dude who talks down his singing abilities Uncle Larry sounds mighty sweet and on the money for a song like that.
In all seriousness I'd pay for an Uncle Larry bluegrass album with the Ocen Way windows as artwork.
I'm thinking Larry's been moving into a new house. Maybe that's why we haven't seen him.
UL we've missed you
Felt like I was transported into a Cooder-esque movie score like The Long Riders. Old school is just plain better. No other way around it. Thanks for the tune!
Great singing uncle L.
Hey boys I had a little time to think you do know if Uncle Larry gets a girlfriend it's going to be curtains for us 😅
True that 😂😂😂
😂😂😂
Bryan as a boyfriend would be an option though. 😅
I think this performance will bring the women
I have a feeling Uncle Larry could really give a care about that whole relationship thing right now. Not everyone needs to fall back into something immediately. Time for his boys, his music, and his session work is top priority , I hope! Lol!
Keep channeling your inner Ry!
Maybe the first vocal performance on a Tom Bukovac album?
As good as he is at guitar, I think i am more impressed by how he's over 50 and can wear Chucks every day.
I don’t give a damn what he says, I dig his singing.
The church of tone! Nice homily Rev. Larry
HA! A Paul Beard resonator! His shop is right down the road, and you do it proud!
I want solo Tom on vinyl, just like this. Liner notes by?
Studio JTM made the session rack
Some down home funky uncle gospel pickin. Love it
Tom, f*cking good! That's all.
Nice landing! Cheers Tom!!
I think Joseph Spence relied too much on Autotune and being rhythmically locked to the grid………..
Hilarious. Thanks!
I can hear Duke and Larry play this all night long
Were You There When They Crucified My Lord?
Hey Tom, your Willowick brother here… is that Jay Joyce’s studio?
no...its ocean way studio on music row
👍
What tuning is used for this song? Is it an open tuning?
You sound great! Thank you Tom! ❤
If the music biz doesn’t work out for the camera guy, he shows great potential in photography.
Footnote; I can’t believe they let that guy in a church.
The church is for all of us sinners, not the saints.😉
Lawd take me home...
Amen
Gospel larry album with vocals coming??❤
Uncle Larry's Revival
Natural easy voice

Its great to see you back, lookin forward to a poolside tune
Loved that man
Do you think they have enough music stands in that corner back there?
They do 70 piece orchestra sessions in that room also

Hellyeah!❤
Sounds killer! 👍🏻
So crazy, that I heard this song for the first time yesterday on the way home from work, on "40's Junction" on XM. But so cool.
Love singing Larry!
You undersell your capability as a singer in these videos. That's nice singing.
Hallelujah!!
Written by Jimmy Mc Hugh and Harold Adamson, 1943.
Great stuff. So enjoyed that.
That's a damn fine sounding vocal...resonator sounds good as well. Cheers Buk
Always makes me think of Ry Cooder from the 1970s. GREAT stuff.
I am going through a Ry Cooder resurgence these days, so this fits right in. My dad, a WWII vet, used to sing and hum this song while doing chores.
Brilliant
I strongly suggest that you record that one and put it on the next album. Just you and the guitar…first song or last song. Would be cool as can be man! 👍
Good lawd!
Ahh Lovely Me Ole Uncle Larry after an Hard Day’s Work 👊❤️😉🎸⭐️🌞
