The #LexusNX was a bit late to the small SUV party about 5 years ago and it has grown to become the second best-selling Lexus vehicle in America. Launched with the NX200t at first, it later became the #LexusNX300 and #LexusNX300h and over the years, @lexus has made steady upgrades to the car. While a new generation is due in about two years, the current #NX is still one of the most comfortable and reliable choices on the market, but some faults are starting to become harder to ignore. - Авто/Мото
I agree Lexus isn't updating their cars fast enough but some people just want a nice car that works
Toyota is in it for the long haul. Deciding against too frequent, incremental updates is what keeps Toyota a recession-proof automaker
People buy Lexus/Toyota for Reliability first and foremost and if they happen to be Fast that's a Bonus👏..4get about gadgets that distract you. Most of these Options are not needed...otherwise it will come standard like Airbags and Seat belt...oh.they should bring back Full spare Tryes rather.. all these run flat tyres are inconvenient...😥
TheMuzikall all the European fancy cars slowly grab your hands like they are puppet masters once you get into the ownership of those cars. They pull you to the shop when issues come up. They pull the money out of your wallet to fix it
naveenthemachine I’ve been to Japan, Germany and now back I’m in America enjoying good ole classic muscle as far as my car history is concerned. When I’m old, no longer in need of excitement and finally ready to settle down, I’ll probably travel back to Japan again and buy me a new Lexus, pay it off, and keep it forever. I don’t know what the heck Toyota does to their cars, but I once heard that 80 % of all Toyota’s built within the last 20 years are still on the road driving. My brother and sister both have young kids and both own Camrys. I have no doubt that when my their kids make legal-driving age that they have Camry’s to drive them all the way to college graduation. If only Toyota injected a little bit more wow factor into their vehicle design I’d probably be a loyal customer for life
Doug E Doug some of their latest products have injected some wow factor. Like for example the Camry and Avalon. Those are very stylish and I actually bought a Camry XSE v6 recently. It definitely turns heads. It sure turned my head and even some friends of mine. They were impressed by how it looks outside and inside.
NICE! A friend of mine just purchased the NX 300 in black. Lexus always exceeds the mark when it comes to reliability, ride and interior. You can’t go wrong with that grill. Keep the great vehicles and content coming. 👍
The Relly Rellz agreed. I feel that they seem too biased towards other brands and what’s funny is that they disagree with that.
Trust me I’ve seen new vehicles that aren’t even anywhere near as modern as this nx. Like the just killed off Dodge Grand Caravan (obviously they aren’t the same thing but just for comparison sake). That thing isn’t modern at all. Doesn’t even have safety tech or CarPlay to begin with.
naveenthemachine redline reviews being biased? I totally agree. I’m a college student currently driving a 2010 ES, and the NX200t or NX300 f sport is literally my dream car in a few years. It does a lot of things right in my book, actually gives off a more prestigious vibe than even the Acura RDX
Jacky Zhang really?
2WIREG the cvt comes on the hybrid. The regular gas uses a 6 speed auto
naveenthemachine a 6 spd automatic was great in 2010 but in 2020 it’s dated and behind the competition
It's so weird to see my local community in a RUclips video. You're the only big RUclipsr that I'm aware of who lives here in Northern Virginia.
Excellent review ! Thanks a lot !
What's "NX" will be interesting ... Well done review Sofyan. Slainte' ! Cheers !
I like the NX, but Sofyan is right that this SUV needs to be a just a little bit bigger and have more powerful gasoline and hybrid powertrains to properly compete with the ever attractive German competitors and the new Acura RDX which is probably getting a Type S variant soon. I hope Lexus properly invests in the next NX and not just update it a little like they did with the IS.
Just put the new Venza in a Lexus suit and tie
Not to mention the Korean counter part, Genesis, will be adding additional pressure to Acura and Lexus.
@GM & Ford are shit I didn't say Genesis would surpass either one, I was just pointing out additional pressures.
This hybrid has underwhelming performance. Lexus could drop it and focus on the performance of the 2.0T.
digitaldoc100 or use the the RAV4 Prime hybrid system in the next generation.
I love my 2016 200T (non hybrid) and super happy with it, attractive looks specially in Red color, comfortable & quite ride, enough power, super reliable with great Lexus customer service, just hope i could upgrade the entertainment system to the new ones with larger screen and apple CarPlay, looking forward to the new generation
Reliability is what I am always looking for. Horse power and tech are useless if the car won't start.
New cars will all be reliable for the first 5-8 years and people that buy a NEW car that will be plenty enough for 95% of people.
The NX has grown into quite the SUV since its 2014 debut. Excited for a new generation, but wouldn’t mind a 2020 with the Mark Lev and updated camera system.
I got one as a loaner while my 2009 RX was getting some work done. I was pleasantly surprised with the car, the inside is very roomy for how small it looks outside, I was genuinely surprised at the cargo capacity. Good in the snow, extremely comfortable, quiet, beautifully designed interior/exteriors, great sound system and interface. My only gripe with it which is fairly major is the heavy turbo lag, it takes a while to get used to when the power doesn't come in for a second or 2 after you press the gas. Other than that, fantastic vehicle. All I can say is I was sad returning it 🤣
I can't wait until the refreshed model next year.
I hope they change the interior for the nx refresher
@@JackJohnson-se4jb they will, the nx will be brought to the current platform.
I hope so because the design needs to be redesigned if it’s going to have a minor facelift like the recently revealed IS I’ll take a GLC or Q5 instead
Model refresh and also bring a NX-Prime variant using similar setup to rav4 prime
@@ericchen3444 Is that for sure? Because the new generation IS thats coming has the exact same old interior of the previous generation IS, hopefully they redesign the whole car inside and out like they did with the ES.
Sofyan you are ripped dude! Been working out I see!
Currently own an NX. Owned an RDX before that. The NX is a great ride, very smooth and comfortable. The 2018-2020 NX Executive Pacakge is the best small-SUV on the market. I like the new 2019-2020 RDX but would still take the 2018-2020 NX.
Right, that's what I have. Amazing car. Almost paid off
Tsond123 Lexus needs to add the rain sensing wipers to the premium package on the NX instead of only on the luxury package NX here in Florida. The dealers here in Florida never have any luxury package NX’s on their lots😕
Agreed I own the exec package, trunk space is limited but a rooftop box will eliminate that. Also this thing can tow 2000lbs...very smooth on the highway
Yes. I have the 2019 NX. I love it. I got it as a secondary car to my 2013 Camry SE. They may not be “exciting” as other brands but I have never had major problems out of either vehicle.
What did you pick the current nx over the current rdx? I have a 2020 NX and I went back and forth with the RDX. My daughter worked for Honda corporate in the Acura division and said the rdx had a lot of complaints.
Nice video. Very good commentary.
"The grille looks like it is going to eat people,".....that's a good one.
Predator
Damn Sofyan is getting in shape!
You are such a great reviewer
No way! My first car was also a ‘96 Toyota Camry! It was a hand me down from my parents after I got my drivers license at 16. It was a great, reliable vehicle that I kept all through high school and most of college.
Once the NX gets the updated hybrid powertrain from the Rav it will be a slam dunk. Also the dash desperately needs an update.
Great review as Always. Really enjoy your insight and unbiased comments.
2:10 it does look like its going to eat someone 😂😂
News Media-one what about Hyundai’s latest grilles? They look more hungry than Toyota and Lexus grilles
Thank you so much for the review! I love how you admit you expect more from Lexus and Toyota. Same here and I honestly love my NX 300 F sport. With the Black interior plus Red seats and Nubela Gray color exterior, I love it but Lexus could always improve.
Nathaniel Lam I definitely like the front grill on the F sport better than the regular Front Grill but once again I have to complain you can’t even get rain sensing wipers on any version of the F sport NX!😡
The NX is due for a redesign, for sure, but I don’t necessarily think the next gen has to try harder to be sporty as Sofyan mentioned. There are already plenty of crossovers in the segment doing that, like the RDX. If I were Lexus, I’d go for something more along the lines of the Corsair, XC60, and base GLC. Comfort first in terms of driving dynamics, but with the Lexus design language.
Always funny, when he pauses while closing the backdoor just to hear the sound of closing it 😄
One of the most useless commentaries in the history of car reviews. I mean who really cares about the sound of closing a car door? 0.00001% of the population?
@@yoochoob i wouldn't say useless .. It's detail and quality is what is being calculated
Finally an explanation why he’s so hard on toyotas
And Nissans too... look at his 2019 Nissan Murano video called, “The 2019 Nissan Murano Is An Odd Looking Comfy SUV”
It still didn't make sense. Dude hates Toyota. Still going on about chr.
Moe Anthony I do appreciate him addressing that issue. But you’re right. It only proves our point.
Now certain Toyota Lexus models I’d agree that he’s right to hate on. The CHR is definitely cute but the rear seats do feel cramped and visibility is poor. The RX L as well for its unusable third row.
Would appreciate if you could stop focusing on performance of hybrid vehicles vs turbos. Most ppl buy hybrids for fuel economy, not to do 0-60 at every light.
Pablocab89 people don’t buy Lexus or Toyota’s to drive like Germans (with the exception of their RWD Lexus models)
You say you don’t care about speed until you got to overtake a trailer on the highway and barely make ut
@@rhodneydc7870same thing. you dontcare about fuel economy until you calculated how much money youve waste on a speed demon cars.
Let’s wait for next year’s new generation
Based off 2019 RAV4?
@@normt5463 yes!
The European and some American brands are more luxury than Lexus! WOW! Thanks for the advice!
Your the best you tuber
I have a 2016 NX200T. Love it. Wouldn’t trade it for any other competitor. Most reliable car I’ve ever had by a long shot
@@jaggedarts33 you won’t be disappointed. Trust me
@@jaggedarts33 it’ll be worth the wait. Congrats
Love the power tilting steering wheel. When you turn off the car it tucks away from you. That is where luxury is at!
The seat as well...it’s part of the “exit” feature and virtually every vehicle with memory seats has this setting. For instance the Cadillac Xt4 moves the seat and steering wheel back and up upon exit and returns them (and mirrors) to the drivers setting upon ignition.
@@rod22lt when I had a 2010 Lincoln mkT, I was like wow that's cool. LOL
Sorry, but I was given a 2020 RX when I had my NX in for service $700 (thank God it was complimentary), and I really thought I was in for a treat. It was not a smooth ride, rode more like a truck with a bit more road noise than what I was expecting. It was, for me, too big. I love my NX, but folks in the coming Depression...cars should not figure anymore. Party's over. Why would people who hate this car watch a video...about it?
Another great review. Agree about interior size (since Rav4 and NX share platform). I was ready to trade a 2009 Forester for a 2017 Rav4. I test drove the Rav4. It seemed too tall, narrow and noisy. I went for a 2015 cpo Carmy. The cert pre-owned warr gave my 1 yr bumper-to-bumper and 7 yr/100k powertrain warr. I'm average size but that interior looks too narrow. For me the Camry was a better option plus the 2 yr depreciation and buyers don't want sedans I save almost 10k getting the Camry 2 yrs old with 23k miles. Look forward to seeing 2021 NX.
I still like the looks of the NX in general, but I have never understood why the non-F-sport model in the U.S. has such a different front than the European NX. I'm from Belgium and I drive a 2018 NX and I 'm so glad that the front of mine is different. It has more the shape of the F-sport.
Whats fun, i just bought a NX 200T Premium 2015 with 66 000 kilomètres for 26 000 $ Canadian and people think i just bought a new car 🙂🙂 look almost the same, super clean love it !!!
love this car with its reliabilty
Every time I hear "reliability" I think of Scotty Kilmer and his Toyota/Lexus fan boys. Hate it!
I thought you could get an F Sport as a hybrid too, pretty sure you can here in the UK?
Finally u seem didn't bash Lexus. Good job
My friend got the Nx in black too!
You can call it a CVT but it's actually a Power-Split Device. It does not have the infamous belt and pulley system that causes failure in a CVT. Failures are rare if the owner changes the non-synthetic ATF called WS every 30k. Or change to a real synthetic like REDLINE D6 and drive worry-free for 75k.
This channel is growing...
Indeed people are coming here to find out...
I agree. I hate that Lexus is getting rid of the GS but the next gen NX is the only option for anyone who wants a mildly sporty option in the Lexus line up
If I wanted to change out the shocks on the NX for a smoother ride, which one should I get? I want the most plush ride as possible.
The new Rav4's interior looks nearly identical to this older model. But, still handsome.
I hope the refreshed model will have a plug-in hybrid version based off the RAV4 Prime! That will sell very well in this segment!
Based off 2019 RAV4?
No one buying it $$$$
Sofyan,
With mostly all the car manufacturers offering 0% interest with financing, what would a list of the 10 best deals look like in your opinion?
the visibility of this thing is also need to be improved. It's much more like a crossover rather than family used SUV
Lexus, please, please pleaseeee do not get rid of the traditional shifter for “interior space.”
That the dumbest shit they ever done to cars, replaced shifter to press buttons to save 2 inches of the stick :D
Tommy Do Lol.
So what’s the #1 best seller for Lexus? I own a 2015 RX350 f sport. Perhaps the most reliable, comfortable and perfect ride I’ve ever owned and I like sports cars but, this drove me to look at cars for a more ALL around perspective.
what r u talking about getting rid of the traditional shift knob?! I passed the TLX because I hate drive without a "traditional shift knob"
its SUV you don't need speed but comfort.
1:21 Toyota and Lexus resting on their laurels
Honda:😳 that was a close one
Sometime next year, Lexus will launch the 2022 Lexus NX, and it should get the following:
More power from the turbo, going up to the 302 HP engine that is coming to the Rav4 Prime
Front end will mirror the Lexus LF1 Concept. Slightly more cargo space and the updated hybrid engine, going to 40 MPG. The Lexus NX has been a huge hit for Lexus, leading the compact class in sales in 2017 and 2018.
He finally explained why he's so harsh with Toyota and Lexus. I agree
I am happy with my NX300, but I do agree on the fact that it's not as competitive as to the Germans. Still, we shall see if the newer model will redeem itself and earn its reputation back again and on par with its bigger sister, the RX
Well Said 👍
I agree, Lexus is too slow to improve the NX. I own a 2018 NX 300h and last week i tested a GLC Coupé : it's way more luxurious and more fun to drive.
Hi Eric, and a good day to you. I am considering an NX300H , what has been your experience and milage with this SUV? I had a 2010 Prius for 6 years, so familiar with Hybrid powertrains, just not in a heavier SUV. Please share your thoughts.
FIRST THING YOU DO AFTER AFTER BUYING TO BUYING THE HYBRID
1. PUT BOTH HANDS ON EACH PADDLE.
2. PUSH FORWARD AS HARD AS YOU CAN
C. WAIT FOR THEM TO SNAP OFF.
1.
2.
C. ?
Pretty sure after 2 , comes 3. 😆
But yes, please snap off those fake paddle shifters.
1,2,C
Can confirm. These steps worked. Thanks.
Is this still based off the 2015 Toyota RAV4?
It drink gas but the drive is very smooth and quiet I love it
I like this car very much, but I heard it is a 2018 RAV4 engine. Is it true? Also, no much trunk space!
Great used car
Good engines, tech eh. My 2020 Toyota SE is loaded almost but still feels like it’s missing a few things. Like noise quality.
Love my Lexus
I made the mistake of reading down the comments. So much snarkiness and rudeness. I liked the review.
everyone down here is an expert
Good review. I agree, Lexus just isn't keeping up. 2020 and they still don't have wireless charging, touchscreen, sunglass storage, higher mileage with the hybrid, plugs in backseat area....the list goes on. For luxury it's lacking and stopping me from trading in my 2016 for the new year, nothing has changed in 5 years...sad.
Tip. Dont buy base version buy F sport, you will love it.
I can't stand the grill on the f sport package. I love the grill on this nx.
Anyone notice at 5:45, at the very last second, the police officer is like....whaaat the?!....
Idk why but when the video started and Sofyan was walking right in front of the car, it looked like a toy car. Is it really that small??
Did you really just say the Lexus NX isn't as "standoutish" as German and American SUVs? 😅 The NX is the strangest looking SUV in recent years, with its Predator grill and oragami lines 😂
Agreed. The F-sport model is still the best looking IMHO. And once the remodel comes in I'm guaranteed nothing will be able to compete. Like look at the new redesigned ES interior... Damn... Just damn...
Hideous!

6:23 I had to rewind it to make sure I wasn't tripping when the steering wheel column moved.
Haha yeah, memory settings !
@@ecolon217 I wasn't aware memory settings were a thing for steering wheels! Must come in handy when multiple people drive a single car.
@@itsdre9x9 for sure! Makes sense too that if someone needs a different seat setting that they'd need the steering wheel to adjust too. Now they just need the mirrors to have memory settings lol
@@itsdre9x9 With those settings, the steering wheel moves out of the way when opening the door to get out so it is easier to get out and back in again.
I like it
They're not making aggressive enough changes because they ordered the older parts in relative bulk. If they changed too aggressively, they would have heavy parts write-offs!
I have this agenda to make Lexus have German rear-wheel drive pedigree. Sort of what Genesis is doing. I've been awfully jealous how handsome Porsches are; paired with longitudinal high performance engines and rear-wheel drive.
I'd love to see how this stacks up against the Lincoln Corsair
I think the Corsair would beat the NX in exterior & interior design, features, & value for the money.
My Android auto is having issues skipping/pausing music on my 2020 NX. Driving me insane! Even tried a different phone and still does it
oh no! I wish my 2019 model has android auto (soon).........
Suspension could be a bit more softer and have less wind/road noise.
Wait..
One of the entry Lexus SUVs is not quiet?
@@normt5463 Engine is quiet but there's good amount of wind/road noise. Suspension doesn't seem to absorb bumps as well as some of the other SUVs in the similar price range.
7:15 really not sure why Lexus does this in a luxury car. The Mazda3 or CX-30 has soft touch everywhere.
Hmm I have the NX300h F sport and I have the plano sunroof hmph
Redesign is sorely needed...the Germans have upped their game and Lexus hasn't kept up.
RDX is just much more spacious inside. NX has a wide center console that kills interior space. Why does Toyota/Lexus has these huge center consoles? Don't they understand some people can be taller and wider?
did you say... 6 speed in the normal engine? 6 speed? in 2020??
They need the RAV4 plugin hybrid system in this.
It'll be like 60k...
That’s probably gonna come out with the next gen as it’ll be based on the current RAV4 platform.
..
Sorry you got stuck with the creme interior 🤮
The NX although a great vehicle, is really starting to show its age. The 2021 NX due next fall can't come soon enough and will give Lexus momentum
Creme interior looks the best by far
RX350 is "bigger" and I am 6'3" and my head is hitting the ceiling even with the seat all the way down... so NX would absolutely not even work for me.
If you are below 6' then maybe these work ok - but for taller people, these are not working out at all... I sat in both, and like I said, RX 350 hitting ceiling... NX even more claustrophobic for me.
I don't understand why people talk about rdx. The car already looks too old in my eyes. It looks no where near the price of a Lexus or BMW. The interior is like something from anime-starwars, just childish and doesn't work for me. Honestly if the nx had improvements to acceleration and the front grill(buck teeth) fixed, it would be so much better than any competition. Now, it's not great, getting old, but I don't think rdx is anywhere in the proximity to nx.
Hey, Lexus, don’t forget to put CD player in updated Lexus NX 2022.
They won’t because CD players are considered outdated, especially as most people use their phones/radio for music. You can still get a CD player in the Lexus IS though.
Dont attack the gear knob for extra storage
I hate buttons for gear
How much storage do u need in a car ???
Dont u have a house for that ???
Sofyan, make a video about your first car (camry 1996). I guess people want to know more about it. It has a right steering wheel, am I right?
I love this vehicle with the F sport grill
I just bought the 2021 Toyota Venza Limited. Looks like this car. All trims have AWD,
Hybrid, and the same synthetic leather as the NX. Got the optional panoramic sunroof.
Gripes.
No decent storage bins. No sunglass pocket.
12.3 screen gets very dusty. Miserable infotainment setup compare to the Ford sync 3.
A budget rolls royce cullinan. Lexus's actual cullinan is the rx 2 row
I’m guessing the new refreshed model will have unibrow taillights
It won’t be a refresh, it’ll be completely redesigned next year

I would buy a Mazda CX5 turbo before buying the Lexus NX. I looked at it a few years ago. Too small on the inside.
I hope they give the NX an actual redesign instead of giving a re-skinned previous generation like the IS, like I hope they move to the TNGA platform
Only thing I'm afraid if they switch it to TNGA is that platform is known to shrink the interior space.
