It’s sad that a) these Euros that often drive phenomenally haven’t figured out a way to make their drivetrains as reliable as this and b) that at least in the Australian market, we’re stuck with Lexus as the sole reliable Japanese luxury marque. Genesis looks promising off the back of Hyundai’s success, but I’d be much more keen to drive a luxury Mazda or Honda (Acura) than a soft sprung, one gen behind interior Toyota.
yep, my mum got bitten HARD by a brand new lemon GLC250d that wouldnt start 1 year in with equally horrible customer service and is now a full lexus convert
There is no contest here at all!! Just go right ahead & buy the Lexus any day of the week. As a mechanic in Melbourne this thing trumps anything the euros in every single way possible!! If you value your money this is what you would buy. Only a complete badge snob would buy a euro SUV ahead of this.
I bought a 2016 nx300h with very low mileage for the year. As soon as I saw it I wanted it. The inside is absolutely stunningly gorgeous. Everyone I get in it it makes me smile. It gets an annual service and it has never needed anything. The only thing I’ve replaced is the front wipers. That’s it. I just love the car. I would say it feels like it could do with another gear as it gets noisy when putting your foot down but that’s a minor complaint. My only other beef is the infotainment system which is totally shit. It’s the sat Nav that lets it down What were they thinking of? I’m going to put an after market system in . Google maps is far better. A side issue is the manual. It misses a lot of stuff but I usually find what I want on the internet. I’ll run this car into the ground. It’s a keeper. Will I buy another. YES YES YES.
Heh, I bought a NX300h today, and it's amazing. Yes, after 100kkm/h the engine grumbles like an ogre - if you're heavy on the pedal - but me and my wife couldn't get over the fact of how silent it was in the car with the stereo off. It's a really fantastic thing and if safety, comfort and reliability is what you want, then look no further. In city traffic this thing is no slouch, it's not violently fast, but it's quite surprising. The engine + gearbox - smooth as butter. That eCVT does make the engine noisy at times, but trust me, you couldn't care less after you experience the luxury and the attention to details in this thing.. It's that good. Thanks a lot for the great review, it helped in purchasing this car. Peace!
I have a 2018 Lexus NX300 F sport. Seems that my lock actuator on the driver’s door is starting to go out. But, it is six years old and this hasn’t been unusual for Toyota products that I’ve owned. Otherwise it still looks and feels brand new nearly seven years after manufacture. Drives perfect, IS perfect for me. He’s correct about the seats. I can barely stand sitting in any other car’s seats at this point because this car is SO comfortable! I totally recommend!
Still to this day I talk to people who think that brands like BMW and Mercedes are top quality and clearly they have no idea what they're talking about. It all comes down to advertising and status symbol. On the other hand ask mechanics about these brand's quality and they start laughing
steering wheel texture and shine.... magic sponge and a little water removed the oils on the leather back to the original mat finish. Makes the wheel feel like new!
Magic sponges are essentially a very fine scotch brite pad (ie they sand down surfaces, especially if you're not careful). I do agree that a mirror finish on someones steering wheel is one of the most vile things
yeh im eyeing that same car for my next ride, would love jim's mechanical review on it. Since its just a frankensteined Camry i expect nothing goes wrong with it. How do you find the gearbox? Im a 6MT enjoyer (currently on a 2017 86) so minimal lag between shifts (in paddle shifter mode) is important to me.

I boughty my NX 200t F sport back in 2017, must say it is a fantastic car the only problem I have is, it tends to get a bit thirsty ⛽ when you are heavy on the pedal. The only mechanical issues i faced was it needed a new battery after 160 000kms and new shocks
I’ve had a Lexus rx350 and then got myself a highlander limited 2017 used it for 5 years and 4 months and now my husband uses it when the clock reached 95000 I thought I’ll never be able to adjust from having a big vehicle to now to a Lexus nx300 2021 I bought it with 40000 and oh boy this thing is very light on gas and very fast for a 2L turbo boost. I always drove v6 vehicles and never thought the switch would be so easy as my husband’s actual vehicle is a rav4 2019 and I don’t like the way it drives compared to my highlander. But the Lexus surprises me everyday I drive it. Very nippy. Picks up speed very easily compared to the rav4 2019. I’m sold on the Lexus nx 300 I’ll upgrade in a couple of years to a Lexus nx 300 again and again. I love it.
i remember seeing this exact one in the showroom, i was considering to buy the exact one in the review but didn't have the cash yet and didnt like the red interior, ended up getting an f sport. Kind of regret not getting this car, was cheaper than the f sport as well, packed with so many more useful features.
Great Video! Test drove a 2021 NX300h in the US today. The 2021 X3 I drove last week was awesome but $6000 more and you German with German priced service. So the NX doesn’t have a “live cockpit pro” or rear seat a/c or a panorama roof. This one does have a sunroof, and a sweet and better sounding JBL stereo with only 8 speakers va BMW 12 speakers. My Mercedes was totaled last week, sadly, but moving forward with NX 300h. I put money down to hold it! This video helped affirm my decision!
I’m in the UK , I’ve had 3 RXs and 2 NXs they are bulletproof , plus every time it’s serviced by a main dealer you get another years warranty up to 10 years or 100k miles.
I think when it comes to cars we buy what we like, with the car I last bought I should have bought something like a Corolla or i30 because it would have been reliable and almost never gone wrong through they feel like appliances instead, I bought a Golf because I like Golfs and it just feels special compared to the Japanese and South Korean competition.
👍 great video thanks - note: in Europe these are difficult to find second hand (and expensive when you can), because they are so reliable that people don't chop and change them (like they do with Range Rover / Land Rover products)

Yeah ReDriven always love your reviews, with these Lexus I just wish they were a little higher off the ground. I know that’s a pretty weak complaint but I’ve come from driving the old Pajero and love being able to see around the traffic. Otherwise, they look great.
I mean this is more of a regular medium SUV like an Outlander/RAV4 that’s more car-like than an off-road focussed Pajero/Prado, so it’s understandable.
Hi Adam. Love your reviews. I have a 2019 Skoda Kodiaq sportline. If your looking to review one. And the car had a huge accident before I bought it. All fixed now. I’m in the Blue Mountains.
I was looking at used 2015 RX350s for my daughters first car, safe, reliable and somewhat economical. Then started looking at 2016s, for the newer design.. NOW, im looking at NX300s from 2018?

I very much considered an NX a few years old but after spending 10 minutes using that trackpad I ruled it out completely, it was horrific. I tried the mouse type controller in some other older Lexus and that was doable, but the trackpad no freaking way. So a far better buy will be in a couple of years getting a nice preloved 2022 or 2023 NX with the touchscreen. Presuming you like the NX that is.
no issues using CarPlay, I use Siri for 75 % of things, and use the trackpad to swap between apps. Can't complain. My screen is never fingerprint dirty.
@@aussie8114hi, I am thinking about getting a 2022 cx-5 or a used Lexus. I was advised not to get a cx-5 because of reliability, do you have any suggestions?
@@Chawklitbabe There are no reliability problems with the CX-5. It’s one of the most popular mid size SUVs in the world. Any car can have problems though. I’m happy with my CX-5. If you get a CX-5 try to get the year model that has wireless CarPlay rather than wired. In Australia that’s the 2023 year model. Here 2024 year model has touchscreen while using CarPlay though I don’t mind using the command dial in the 2023 year model. The turbo has lots of zoom zoom so a non turbo might be very adequate but I haven’t compared the two. Test drive one and see if it feels comfortable, see if seats suit you. Front A pillars are chunky and I find myself having to look around them sometimes.
Received my Wipertech wiper blade kit for 4th gen Pajero.. I am actually very happy with them, I would definitely rate them higher than the Bosch aerotwin blades.. Just a matter of how long they last...👍👍
If you think wipertechs are good….just wait and see what you think of Rain X Silicone Enduras. They literally work for yeaaaars in the Aussie sun. I replaced my wipertechs with them and they’ve lasted way longer than wipertech.
been looking for your opinions on this for a while! as a 19 and 21 owner (f sports, gas/petrol, Canadian!) fit and finish are absolutely stuperb. performance is actually up a good bit for the 21 from the 19 due to some updated engine mapping (as per what i was told) and 93 premium fuel. it does ask you if it needs to go when you floor it, but it goes after asking. suspension is on the firmer side, but i appreciate the confidence if i need to punch a corner. interior is done really well since i enjoy tactile buttons. infotainment took a second to get used to, but easy once you take a second to learn it. the sound system is a massive upgrade over the standard sound package. though i would love a smidge more trunk space, its only on those days where my family travels. its also helped while i was in a splint after surgery, so i can attest to front passenger space.
Had my NX200t since 2017 on 83k km and not a single issue, traded in for a alphard 3.5 4wd due to new member in family ☺️, only issue with NX is how small the boot is
I'm looking to buy a Lexus nx300 and your video most definitely got me more excited 😊 I have been driving a Toyota solara convertible for 13 years and still running good but its time for rest. You are a delight to watch.....awesome video 👍thank you
I live in Europe. Owned an Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Volkswagen. Very nice when new. But they draw you bankaccount after around 6 years. Small engines with turbo are normal these days. I Didn’t like this kind of marriage with these brands anymore so I dicided ‘ to divorce’. Driving currently a 2017 nx 300h F sport. It is the best car I have ever had! I love it for what it is…
Fully agree with the video! I'm stoked I Just got a Lexus RC350, have totally lost faith with German cars now.. these are the reviews more people need to be watching before buying cars! I've had a Audi A5 ($20k+ mechanical costs in the last 1.5yrs alone, parts at trade prices too) BMW M335 (last bill was $3.5k), VW Tiguan (last bill was $4.6k) Civic type R (servicing, brakes replaced, that's it) I have way more fun driving a reliable performance jap car knowing it's limits can be pushed repeatedly
NX is the great car. Maybe it is not so proportional appealing as RX. But reliability is great, material quality is good, interior is fine and soft. In Europe existed NX200 with 2.0 naturally aspirated engine and those one is not enough powerful. Sport seats are a little bit tight for me and fake leather in base models is disappointing. But in other aspects NX is a good choice in its segment. The only issue I can remember - peeling apart glass on the center scream, and for some time it was not available as separate part, but now you can change only the glass. And believe me, I have been Lexus service advisor for 11 years.
You ask why we don't consider the NX over the X3, Q5 etc. Basically, as you have described it only comes with a 2L engine and it is not a sports SUV in anyway; so just fine if you just want to cruise around without raising your heart rate in anyway. The BMW's and Audi's and Mercedes all come with turbo 6 and even 8-cylinder options. Also, there are diesel options.
@@ReDriven Hey guys, when you find a good example, do you think you could review a MK4 Mondeo, preferrably XR5 or Titanium Spec? I've been thinking about them for a bit and there isn't any real up to date reviews on them. Thanks
Any opinions on the 300h hybrid. Looking at that vs 2020 RAV4. RAV4 has the newer generation hybrid so quicker and more efficient but the cabin definitely feels cheaper. The tech in top spec nx beats RAV4 top spec. Ah, brain says RAV4 but….
Lexus every time, although even Toyota and Lexus are using a lot of plastic parts in the engine bay. We have a 2015 IS300h, the only thing to fail was a spark plug. We also (like a lot of other people) had to change the 12v battery during lockdown. If you want to be a boy racer, buy a German Car. You'll see your dealer quite often.
Men should have no problem operating a mousepad with their “left hand” 😅😅😅 You’re absolutely right about Lexus seats though. Most comfortable in any car on sale today
Been driving a 2013 RX450h for a bit over six months now. Would prefer it to consume less fuel and and infotainment is a bit outdated and miss high beam automatic systems (drove a Skoda Superb 2018 before that had it, was really nice). Other than that this is a fantastic car, a real joy to drive. I once had a Mercedes and I never understood what people are on about them but after driving one I got the appeal. Well, repair costs were a nightmare, of course. Anyway, I think it is quite similar with a Lexus -- you won't get the appeal until you experience it yourself. It is very similar to a Mercedes in my mind but... Sensible! It is a luxury SUV but it just seems a sensible choice and I guess people view it as such as well. Especially getting an older German made luxury SUV seems a bit pretentious. While this does not. Sure, it is not your average Toyota Corolla or Avensis or even the RAV4 but it doesn't seem too over the top. While buying I was considering a 2015 NX as well. Drove one, though the interior is very nice and the tech a bit better then it is just something very magically satisfying about the RX. Like the perfect combination of raw V6 power and classy refinement. Love it.
Could not get one and six dealers said it would be up to a year before I could get close to the trim that I wanted in the NX350h hybrid. The RX350h was the same. Luckily I obtained an ES300h Ultra Luxury with additional options in mid April. GLTA if you want an NX or RX hybrid, you will have to pay to get on a list and wait!
My wife’s uncle offered to give us a vehicle in exchange for some works that she had done for him. The choices were a 2019 Range Rover Autobiography with 35k miles or a 2019 Lexus NX300 with 8k miles. Guess which one were picked.
I bought Wipertech blades cos they sponsor you. I'm very happy with them so far. Hopefully they survive in the sub - if so they've got a customer for life.
Er, towing capacity. Why Toyota constantly ignores towing capacity as a make or break for many buyers confounds me. A 1000kg towing capacity might even put off a jet-ski owner!

Anyone that has been bitten by owning a euro will definitely be looking at a Lexus
I loved my Mercedes over the 9 years I had it but I'm also never, ever owning another German car again, like ever.

Peace!
Best Review ever, looking towards buying NX in an older model and also having the mechanic talking is a great idea. 👍👍👍👍👍
Driving a NX200t 2017 Sports Luxury for over an year. Smooth as silk and I'd say fun to drive! As mentioned downside is the outdated infotatement.
steering wheel texture and shine.... magic sponge and a little water removed the oils on the leather back to the original mat finish. Makes the wheel feel like new!
Magic sponges are essentially a very fine scotch brite pad (ie they sand down surfaces, especially if you're not careful). I do agree that a mirror finish on someones steering wheel is one of the most vile things
Thanks for the tip

I boughty my NX 200t F sport back in 2017, must say it is a fantastic car the only problem I have is, it tends to get a bit thirsty ⛽ when you are heavy on the pedal. The only mechanical issues i faced was it needed a new battery after 160 000kms and new shocks

I thought I’ll never be able to adjust from having a big vehicle to now to a Lexus nx300 2021 I bought it with 40000 and oh boy this thing is very light on gas and very fast for a 2L turbo boost.
I love it.
I remember going to Lexus dealer to buy my NX, 7 out of 10 cars parked at the customers parking area were Merc, Audi and BMWs haha.

Front A pillars are chunky and I find myself having to look around them sometimes.

been looking for your opinions on this for a while! as a 19 and 21 owner (f sports, gas/petrol, Canadian!) fit and finish are absolutely stuperb. performance is actually up a good bit for the 21 from the 19 due to some updated engine mapping (as per what i was told) and 93 premium fuel. it does ask you if it needs to go when you floor it, but it goes after asking. suspension is on the firmer side, but i appreciate the confidence if i need to punch a corner. interior is done really well since i enjoy tactile buttons. infotainment took a second to get used to, but easy once you take a second to learn it. the sound system is a massive upgrade over the standard sound package. though i would love a smidge more trunk space, its only on those days where my family travels. its also helped while i was in a splint after surgery, so i can attest to front passenger space.

I love it for what it is…
parts are also so readily available compared to australia, and the sun... australian sun just cooks anything plastic (ey bmw...)
So the turbo in the NX isn't that good?
Fully agree with the video! I'm stoked I Just got a Lexus RC350, have totally lost faith with German cars now.. these are the reviews more people need to be watching before buying cars!
I've had a Audi A5 ($20k+ mechanical costs in the last 1.5yrs alone, parts at trade prices too)
BMW M335 (last bill was $3.5k),
VW Tiguan (last bill was $4.6k)
Civic type R (servicing, brakes replaced, that's it)
I have way more fun driving a reliable performance jap car knowing it's limits can be pushed repeatedly
Iv learned my lesson, went to go look at an Audi A5, the dealer went to unlock it and the mechanism broke.... decided to get a Land Cruser instead.
i think the reply is euro SUVs can be got at cheap prices second or fith hand, lexus they just hold their value
