Great story. We need more stories like this. We need young plumbers. I am almost 73 and still at it. It keeps me out of trouble here on Cape Cod. Been plumbing for 47 years.
I am currently a nurse in southern NH and keep trying to figure out financially how to make the switch and still pay the mortgage. I wish there was a way I could do plumbing part time while working as an RN.
I’ve been doing fire sprinkler for seven years now. And I’m not in any apprenticeship an I like plumbing but don’t know if I should make the switch any advice?
Great story. You saw an opportunity, took the risk and here you are.Good Job. I am sure the sheet metal and welding experience helped out too. How much of the time were you laid off doing sheet metal. If it was over 50% of the time that seriously erodes that $50/hr pay.
I just can’t figure out am I severely underpaid making high 30s in Michigan or is it all relative because of living expenses on each state? $50 per hour that Matt mentioned for the sheet metal job, that’s career money and a dream income for so many people
