- So hopefully I’ll be able to upload at least twice a week that’s the goal! Plumbing is an awesome trade that I love and was fortunate enough to be able to get into. I didn’t see an videos about what to expect for commercial plumbing so I thought I’d make one. Hope y’all enjoy and if you have any questions feel free to ask!

I definitely agree with doing anything to make the job easier including using knee pads, using a drill for cleaning fittings, and sometimes even sitting on a bucket to work down low. It’s not about being a puss but conserving your body, cuz you take care of yourself no one else
Yea man preservation is keyyy, like what you said at the end, your totally right
Whenever installing hangers, get with your Forman to get info on if the system your running will be insulated, you don’t wanna cut too high on your althread because the hangers will have to drop down a lil bit to make room for insulation, that’s why you notice the hangers are oversized for your pipe. I like to go about halfway or touching the metal bar on the hanger. Stay learning brother 💪
Thanks man :)
Good job bro don't forget to wrap the pipe where it's being hung because of the dissimilar metals are in contact
I just found this out!!! It’s crazy to think copper is so sensitive, right? We have people that come by after and insulate the pipes for us so the metal doesn’t actual come in contact with the copper
Watching your video brought back a lot of memories, keep plugging friend, you'll get there and always keep your professional attitude.
Thx god for people like you, commentary is 💯 needed and you explained everything on point 🎯.
Thanks 🙏
If you have an oval pipe and and a fitting wont fit you can take an adjustable wrench and tighten it around the end then rotate it to make the pipe end viable again.
Nice work. Keep it up. You are a pro
Keep it up I swear I was going to come in with some judging comment but than I listened to what you said and I highly recommend if you ever get the chance to work for a foreman that knows what he is doing and can show you to become better take advantage of that knowledge not the person #plumbers
My man.!!! Worlds could been said any better use whatever it’s out there in your advantage feed your brain from others.!! You’ll go far I promise..🎉
Bro keep making videos you’re inspiring !!i start my apprenticeship next week!! Keep the videos coming we need all the tips and tricks and watching the full process is even better make the videos just a little bit longer
cop a map gas kit homie, makes ur life so much easier when soldering don't have to awkwards hold the bottle and can control your heat way better. Especially if u start getting into bigger copper 2"+. Also cleaner sauders regardless of fitting size.
Just stumbled on your channel. Good work dude, I’m a fifth year apprentice working commercial in San Francisco. A little tip, when you gotta trim a little rod off clevis hangers you can remove the bottom/ cross bolt and leave the top with both nuts on. Slip your band saw in between the rod and clevis, hold back on the rod and keep one hand on the saw. Then just run the nuts up and reinstall the bottom. Just A little time saver so you don’t gotta take it all the way apart. Best of luck!
That’s pretty smart I appreciate that I’ll start doing that, a little time saved here and there really adds up! Thanks, congratulations on your fifth year!
Good job!
Thank you for watching and commenting!
Good piece of advise start heating you joint from the bottom working your way to top if you do it backwards you could overheat the top of the joint and the joint could fail
Awesome Video! 😎👍🏼
Thank you!
When soldering always place flame on fitting cup so the solder is drawn into the fitting completely.
My foreman says the same I have to remember that
Tell your boss you need a vise!
hey man, I am on my 3rd year and i film with my stupid phone...what camera set up you using? keep up the good work man. lets grind this shit out.
Keep it up , luv to see the younger generation getting involved. Plumbing has always been good to me. Where do you do plumbing at what state?✌
Texas!
Bro I’m about to start my channel this month got a bunch of footage I need to edit u just inspired me !
Do it man, I just woke up and was like todays the day and did it :)
u ever drop another piece of pipe, ream the dent a decent amount and it'll fit!
also if u sweat ur uprights bfor u fit it up u dont have to sweat upside down joints makes ur work look cleaner. also if u wipe ur drips w a rag looks clean asf.
i find it easier to flick the solder while it’s still wet, just be super careful and quick using the right PPE
If you're cutting your copper tube with a bandsaw there will be no inside flare to create turbulence so reaming is unnecessary. However with a wheel cutter it is displacing the copper as it cuts. Thus creating a flare on the inside which will produce turbulence and eventually cause scour and a possibility of leak.
No way so reaming isn’t needed for bandsaw cuts? I didn’t know but honestly I really appreciate that information. I just ream everything because that’s what I was told to do but I’ll keep that information in mind thank you!
I think if the blade is new might not need to but if it's already been used a lot then you might need to still do it
New to your channel. I’m 18 years old I joined the union in April so basically 6 month 1st year apprentice, and I’m doing Commercial Plumbing too. I’ll try to watch all your videos man keep doing the good stuff we definitely making a difference. Are you Union too? And where did you get that mask?
We’ve been plumbing for about the same time! And nah man I’m open-shop. And I got the mask from amazon just look up neck gaiters. Thanks for watching and commenting that man made my day :)
Really like your channel man, cool original camera angels. I'm a plumber in a european country, interesting to see how things are done in America, are soldering fittings still used a lot in America? Over here we almost never use them anymore. Your work looks good man, how long does apprenticeship usually take? Over here it's about two years.
Man you made my day camera angles took a lot of work :) and yea that’s the only thing I’ve ever used so far just fittings. And an apprenticeship here in TX is about 4 years. Do y’all only do propress? And badass would’ve never know it was two years that’s awesome
@@PM.PLUMBING yes, pretty much all propress or oldschool compression fittings (not sure about translation). Anyways, love the videos, keep it up.
Um, where i come from with use hangers appropriate for the size pipe we are using
We have guys that come after use put insulation on the copper pipes so we use larger hangers to accommodate for em
My road to journeyman was my boss was wasting my time for 5 years because he wanted to play favorites with the laziest, incompetent brown nose.
Never heard “brown nose” before but on behalf of the trade I’m sorry you had bad leadership
@@PM.PLUMBING brown nose = the entitled butt kiss who thinks he's special but he can't dig a trench or get dirty because he starts crying.
What state are you from?
I thought about getting into plumbing. Just curious, how many hours do you usually work per week and also as an apprentice do you go to trade school on the side?
Our crew typically only works 40 hours and no I didn’t go to trade school just on the job training
If you start with a private company they will work you like a dog.
For commercial jobs wouldn’t pro press save you a lot of time?
It all depends on how the job was bid and certain customers might want it done a certain way also
Could be faster but it does depend on the buyer and what they want, but I’m still new to the game so I don’t have the exact answer sorry. But thank you for watching!
Hey man quick question, does the company/union provide you with those power tools such as the bandsaw and drill or are you required to purchase your own? I'm on a waitlist of a union here in Cali and want to be prepared. Thanks
Union shops will provide those tools
When I worked local 393 san jose they wont even allow your own channel locks its actually a good thing. So Ca union a little differant especially plumbing some of the shitty companies dont follow rules and want you to supply
ask union you are applying at for details even though its all UA its differant rules depending on location
Nah, service is where its at.
I agree with you but service fucking sucks! on call sucks late night commercial buildings fucking suck. I miss residential sometimes. Ive never done new construction plumbing. Went straight into service.
@@DONCARMINEFALCONEE Yeah. I'm lucky that the company I work for has no on call and they have a few guys on for the weekends and that I am still able to make good money mon-fri. They take care of me but service does have BS like this stupid recording software they want us to use in field. Some 1984 crap.
Are you in the union ?
No I’m open shop
Jump in the union man. It’s secure, and even regarding schooling you have many ways to take advantage on the road to Jman. I get x amount of tuition back for passing my exam each training period. I’ve met great people and worked some cool jobs. Company money buys the power tools and lift tickets etc.
You’re 21 now, Jman around 25 - secured pension.. the list goes on brother. Great work and keep at it
@@joeychessguy1471 thanks man, I’ll prob union up once I reach journeyman but as an apprentice the union pay is to much of a decrease
50 bucks a month brother. Journeyman are obviously a bit more. Around $100 a month. Low price for security
@@joeychessguy1471 can you elaborate? 50 bucks a month?
hows the pay if you dont mind me asking? I graduate trade school in a few months and want to go commercial
i make $35.15/hr 2nd year journeyman in a oklahoma plumbers and pipe fitters local union, currently working on a commercial new construction jobsite. we’re adding on a mall.
@@snoozysnoozMMXXIV thanks a lot, i hear the first few years as an apprentice are a grind but after that it gets rewarding.
Turn the music up i cant hear it👍
why do u have that mask on
It helps keep debris off your face from work and other trades, plus the sun is normally beating on you so it protects your skin
Your not suppose to use a bandsaw on copper that’s not correct use tubing cutters
If there is no pressurized water, then it's okay in my book
so at 1:34 i saw the pipe end was at 8inches off the hvac. but when you add the 90 to it, wouldnt it be a bit closer to the vent? is code that strict or no
I don’t believe it was that strict but I had my foreman check it out and another 4yr apprentice before him and they all cleared it. But also theirs insulation that goes on top of the copper so it would push it up later once it’s installed
