    The larger removable end of the Rigid supply & drain wrench works great for installing the shoe on waste and overflows for bathtubs. I can't do a backpack for service work I prefer open top bag. Wanna see all my tools everytime and put them back with ease. Bags gotta weigh a ton. I would take half that stuff and put it in another bag for well work. It is nice to see other folks stuff though. So you work Dailey. In the plumbing world. And your tools stay that clean for 2 years. Give a lesson on that. I got cabinets in doors and have the drawer lined with cloth rags and drench the tool in wd after a nasty use. But kudos for super clean tools and bag.

    • @TheTacticalPlumber
      @TheTacticalPlumber  3 года назад +1

      Well, I'm largely service, so there's that. I'm also a neat freak, so there's also that. WD 40 isn't what I'd recommend though (it'll rust 'em). You want to use something like a bar and chain oil (PB blaster) on the metal surfaces. I also carry a nice de-greaser (Dollar tree sells a cleaner called Oxygen Orange). It's a spray that does a pretty good job cutting grime off the handles around once a week.

    • @pjplumber2146
      @pjplumber2146 3 года назад

      Tactical Plumber new is the cleanest. So I dunno why there’s that in service. Lol. But no really mad props on being clean. I can’t find the time. I barley got time to throw tools in truck. I loose (leave under crawlspace) the important ones. A lot. I hope to hire a guy like you one day. I worked with a guy like this before. We all were amazed. Had a saying that he could jump in a septic tank and come out smelling like roses. His hands were about as pretty as yours. We never believed he worked but he sold the shit out of stuff to pass on to installers. And always on top of the sales board. He had that infamous money and time. Wow. Great job dude. Service is the nastiest part and you my good man have tamed that turd.

    • @wb5mgr
      @wb5mgr 3 года назад

      I bought an ultrasonic cleaner off Amazon (a big one) and just filled with water. They make special degreasing solution for it but water works pretty darn good.
      It wasn’t really expensive, but I got a bigger one that I really needed because I wanted to use it for more than just this.
      It works really well, of course you don’t want to throw big chunks of crud in there but if you’re just trying to clean the fine nasties off of the tools it’ll work good for that.

    • @TheTacticalPlumber
      @TheTacticalPlumber  4 года назад +2

      It really is worth a fortune. I view tools as extensions of ability, and the better my selection the more I can do. Buying good tools is an investment in your ability to do things. I love these bags, specifically the ones with a handle on both side (easy to carry between locations). I do feel like my new Packout bag falls over more then the older Jobsite Plus bag however...

    As others have mentioned, the camera work needs major improvement. The video and audio is great, you just need to get a tripod. Literally making me sick with the rapid constant movement. All that aside, nice bag, albeit heavy with a lot of redundancy of tools. Also it's an odd mix. You have absolute top of the line Knipex pliers and then Harbor Freight junk thrown in. Quality over Quantity. If you look at the tools you have and think about what you use the most, you could lighten that bag dramatically and not leave yourself without essentials. For emergency calls and planned simple jobs (that could turn into problems) i carry a well laid out Veto pack with essentials and then i have a smaller top opening bag with tools i might need in a pinch. That bag stays in my truck and if i need it ill go grab it.

    I'm a Sparkie, that's right King of the Jobsite , anyway I had the Milwaukee bag for 8 months and the Milwaukee pockets are not up to snuff for holding Pliers and screwdriver securely and neatly, the bag also can be very tippy if you don't have anything in the bottom and tools will fall out of the pockets if the bag is tipped, the bag is also angled forward and that is very irritating if the bag is bellow you

  • @tfm1449

    Nice set up. For me though, I see too many gimmick tools. I would suggest you get a set of internal pipe wrenches. They have saved my ass in some ones house many times. Snap-on has an excellent 5pc. set. Also a broken stud removal kit. Snap-on has the most excellentest easy-out type with left twisted drill bits. The left twisted drill bits are a must in any broken stud removal tools. My idea is to be as light weight as possible. I was, for the most part a maintenance mechanic/ plumber/fabricator.....Climbing towers, or silo's w/ a cage is impossible with my knapp sack on my back. Residential work with the back pack might creep the customer out some. I would approach with a metal clip board. At first. Then decide what hand tools you might need. I wore coveralls, and I only needed two channelocks, tape measure, about 90% of the time to get started. How much does your knapp sack weigh???

    • @TheTacticalPlumber
      @TheTacticalPlumber  3 года назад +1

      LOTS OF GOOD STUFF HERE. ^ I definitely have some gimmick tools, but sometimes it's just about whatever makes the job fun. I've got some Spiral nipple extractors, and they're definitely where it's at... If I need them I'm probably having a bad day however (they stay in a drawer on the truck). You definitely have a good point about freaking customers out with a big bag -- This bag only gets brought in after a diagnostic/sale for more extensive work. I have a much smaller bag with a couple wrenches, screwdriver, electrical tester, tape measure, thermometer, etc. for initial diagnostic (as well as a clipboard and tablet).

    Way too many crescents and channel locks. You need 2 raptor crescents and 3 channels max. A 10" and a 12" aluminum pipe wrench. Why carry 2 sets of pex cutters? . I see a lot of things that imo are un needed weight. My service pack weighs about 35 lbs though soooooo....... respectfully intended

    • @TheTacticalPlumber
      @TheTacticalPlumber  4 года назад +2

      Yeah man! Definitely some redundancy! I love how much setups vary tech to tech. Multiple adjustable wrenches for multiple situations. I do a lot of service, and sometimes you just need the right tool for the right spot. This backpack also gets ran in an install capacity, and having someone borrow your cutters can be infuriating... Thus the two... :) #Respect :)

      @MrDmadness 4 года назад +1

      @@TheTacticalPlumber I hear ya on redundant backups.. i have maybe 6 sets of pex cutters but i carry only 1, they are magnesium so very light. Have been a service plumber and gas fitter for 23 years, so I can relate. I have several backpacks, my primary is the packout one. Weight even in a backpack = body wear and tear... respectfully intended, our job is hard on the body already, hard enough that reducing weight when possible is worth it In the long run

      @TheTacticalPlumber  4 года назад

      @@MrDmadness Definitely! I'm a young buck :) I do mostly residential, and the backpack generally only goes a little ways from the truck, and then back. I'm kinda' avoiding weighing it. I love how the Packout bag locks into the packout system. It makes for easy storage on the truck. ...I do, however, feel like the Packout version falls on its face more (when zipped up). Did you have the Ultimate Jobsite backpack? Did you notice this difference?

    • @MrDmadness
      @MrDmadness 4 года назад

      @@TheTacticalPlumber I have 6 milwaukee packs. 4 different versions. The packout one now has some spray on truck bed liner ( rubber ) on the bottom to avoid scraping wood floors. And yes it does tip on occasion if you don't strategically place items in it. I find the packout one less comfortable to wear but it holds more, so.... the slimmest version of the packs holds my tablet ( essential for service as it stores all my wiring diagrams and has a quick link to any boiler, controller etc. Pdf ) and my nanometers, and diagnostic equipment. I have one that holds all my drill bits and extensions. One holds pipe wrenches and additional mostly un used tools. One has become my lunch box and holds medical stuff ( diabetic ) . I'm unsure what the ultimate jobsite pack is but if its milwaukee then likely I have it.

    Oh, one more thing. Always buy and use only Professional Plumbing Tools. Cheap tools especially pipe wrenches are not only ugly, but they are very dangerous to use. I would not work with anyone trying to bust a 1to 3 inch union with a China pipe wrench. Cheap tools, cheapen the trade.

      I think there's a much larger conversation here surrounding budget tools, investing in your gear, and the mentalities that people have. I think I mostly agree with you. :)

      I already had one... And gave it away... Great bags though, I'll probably go that route again at some point.
