Ive really gotten into the DeWalt Tough system boxes. The smaller size is perfect for the having a box with you when you go to a customers house. You can stack them and lock them, and they have a cart to transport multiple boxes if needed. Come in a bunch of sizes, and they have some organizer units too.
Pricey to get into, but they are just awesome for having multiple specialized load outs on hand, and keeping the van organized.

    You are right
Any tradesmen worth his salt is always carry’s his bag of primary tools into a job site.
    The 90% rule matters.
The only thing that your bag doesn’t fit are drills! Lol but plumbers don’t really use drills that often so. It’s not a big issue.
But for me doing electrical and wood work, I always need my drills.

I would add in valve seat wrench and 1/2" compression ferrule puller for compresssion shutoff valves. It has saved my ass doing my own home repairs multiple times.
That back pack is pretty sweet, I usually use a cheap 12" large mouth canvas bag by Husky and I have a harbor freight one. I use a milwaukee packout back pack for all my electrical tools with a smaller "belt-able" pouch I store inside it and grab first that holds the most used tools. But for plumbing I'm currently using the milwaukee packout toolbox. If you didn't already figure it out I'm completely invested in the packout system. I think VETO makes better bags hands down but what I have does the job. As for the tools I carry, more than you carry, too much to be fair but it saves a lot of trips to the van. If I ever decide what I do is interesting enough to make videos about I'll do a tool tour too.

I like how people think if your tools look good you don't use them. No!! That just means you don't know how to clean, oil, and take care of your tools. Also just keeping tools seperate, not clanging around in a lose bag, keeps wear to a minimum. It is amazing how much wear and rust comes from improper storage of tools.

I’d like to have so many random tools if I actually become a plumber lol. It’s always nice to buy new toys. I have so many tools already but I’ve seen a couple plumping commercials about tools that make the job just a little easier.

I love the superior tool "basin buddy" we got one recently and it's extremely useful and takes up a lot less space than those big multifunction faucet/sink wrenches.

Hey Roger. Love the videos. Question for you (or anyone else pout there). I started working a commercial carpentry apprenticeship about a month ago (I have zero hands-on carpentry experience but know quite a bit of stuff about it and I am very good with my hands) and I feel as if I'm not learning anything from the journeymen. I've complained about not being taught anything and even asked my boss when I'll be learning how to do stuff like framing, or at least understand the basics and I'm always met with "I don't know". Despite my eagerness to learn, I spend half the day either standing around or cleaning. I don't even get asked to grab tools. The company is so disorganized. When I do pick the journeyman's brain, I'm met with some sort of attitude. Should I stick it through or go ahead and jump ship? I love carpentry and plumbing, but my heart is leaning more towards plumbing and there's a school near me that'll put me with a master and have me in school two nights a week if I apply. I'm just trying to weigh my options as I'm 28 and don't want to be stuck working dogshit jobs anymore.

Sorry to hear you are having an unpleasant time trying to learn hands on in the trade your currently in. From my experience and had a similar experience at first, I would try somewhere new. Make it a point in a interview saying Hey, I want to learn and become a carpenter or plumber by being hands on. I dont mind running for parts because that's what helpers or apprentices do so we can understand certain jobs require certain tools/parts. But if all your doing is running around and not being hands on at least sometimes then the question stands as, am I knowledgeable enough to know what tools/parts are needed to certain jobs and of course can I do the job with my hands? The best advice I can tell you overall is the trades are a skill. So that being said you can alwys improve like sports. You cant forever suck [Unless clearly you dont have the means to do things with your hands] you can alwys improve in a skill one way or another.

@@intensecasper1674 I definitely appreciate that! I'm gonna start looking around for a new place immediately. I want to learn the trade. Not stand around and sweep all day. Not saying that's beneath me, but it's all I do. Definitely appreciate those words.

I know it sucks at first. But for most trades that what your job is.
Even with plumbing, if you have no knowledge, and depending on where you are at a job, they may only need you to clean/organize (which is an important thing even if you don’t want to believe it. Keeps things organized, safe and no one bitching at you!)
Keep your head up, take your tasks with a positive manner and before you know it, you’ll be learning new stuff. It just takes time.
But remember your job is important to make sure THEIR job runs smooth.

@@Kjertinge I can see if it was like that for a few weeks, but it's a month going on two. We have three other apprentices, one who's done carpentry for two years before and they're not making any effort at all to train us. Most times, they seem inconvenienced by having us around. They don't even try to explain what they're doing or why. If you ask, they get attitudes. When I say I stand around for most of the day, I'm not exaggerating and I hate not being productive. I'm used to working on cars and electronics so I'm very well acclimated with tools and understanding blueprints and have even proven that to them.
When I applied, they even said they prefer someone who's mechanically inclined for the apprenticeship. I don't expect to start hanging drywall right away or even running power tools, but at least teach me something, ya know? Even if it's how to check if the wall is level. I'd even be ok with grabbing tools because at least I'm learning the ones I don't know and being productive. I'm also a big guy, so most manual labor/warehouse jobs automatically relegate me to physical jobs because I work out and they think because I do it recreationally that I want to do it on the job all day. So when I get stuck in positions like that, it kinda pisses me off more.

Camco makes a element socket that is very good and I love it with a breaker bar. Never thought of a deep well socket, that would seem just as good. Anything you can actually get a bar on.
