I personally use a dollar store can holder for my soda cans in the fridge, you can stack them, but it's also on a slight incline, so that they roll forward as you use them up. Also, a lot of soda cans come in a case that's designed to hold the cans and dispense them one at a time.
True, but my fridge isn't very big. I prefer to gain space every time I remove an item. If your dollar store can holder is working well for you, run with it.

PB-Jife: "Not good for cold peanut butter." What kind of monster puts their peanut butter in the fridge or keeps it cold? Peanut butter should be kept at room temperature.
I'm that monster. 😋 I buy peanut butter that has 2% sugar and is seperated by oil, so you gotta stir it. Once stirred keep it in the fridge otherwise you'll have to stir it every time you go to get peanut butter.
I've had that OxO paper towel holder for about 5 years now, and it still works great. The base is heavy with a rubber bottom so it doesn't move, and the arm spring hasn't lost any noticeable tension. Absolutely hated spending that much on a paper towel holder, but hated spinning half a roll out of the old one even more.
For your old holder: Turn the roll so it's turning the other way... So you're pulling back against that ball on the end of the spiral. I suspect that's how that was intended to be used... A quick pull against the ball should start the tear on the perforation.
I'm in the mood for toast with peanut butter now. We use a cheap plastic paper towel holder mounted under the cupboard. Always easy to rip a sheet off.
Anyone else remember the corn buttering device that was plastic and you loaded it with a tablespoon of butter then gradually squeezed the handle as you buttered? They worked so well.
I believe my parents still have one, from pampered chef in the 90s or early 00s. I don't use any gadget, I just lay the corn across the top of the butter and roll it. The stick of butter is usually just the right length and no gadget needed!
@@thumbsarehandy. That's not a bad way to do it if you eat corn on the cob often. But it makes it hard to use that stick later in any kind of measured amount.
I recall plastic dishes, kinda like troughs, that held the corn pretty exactly. we put butter in the bottom of them. no more problem when the butter melts and gets wasted on the plate, because it's still in the dipping tray.

If you use a stick of butter on a plate like he used for testing, just roll the corn across the top of the butter stick. The butter is its own applicator! No gadget needed.
There is also the Rand Peltzer method, where you butter a slice of bread and then rub it on the corn. It's cheaper than this gadget, and you get to eat some buttery bread afterward.
The back of a tablespoon is nothing new and doesn’t remotely compare to a jife. I eat peanut butter every day. A spoon doesn’t eliminate any of the problems the jife addresses. That’s the point.
Love the OXO paper towel holder had it for years. Just moved to the OXO under cabinet paper towel holder. Well worth it for both of them. Only tip I say is always have the arm facing you. You do your tear right next to it and not on the other side like you had(you did have it right at 1st). Never had an issue with it.
You need to pull up from the bottom on the old paper towel holder, using the arm to help get the tear started whenever it give you trouble. The arm holds it steady enough that a small twist gets it started. The butter spreader leaves a rounded shape on the outside *with the second cut onwards.* The first cut still has a flat edge on the surface that contacts the corn.
Been feeling down today, hardly forced myself to warm up my dinner. Sat down to eat and boom, there's a new video from you. Thank you for cheering me up with your chill energy pal, from Russia with love 🇷🇺
your spiral holder can do one handed, but it depends upon the direction the roll is mounted. (like the over-the-front vs down-the-back debate for toilet paper) look at the veggie bag dispensers at the grocery store. they have a rounded spike intended to break the dotted line between bags. the end of your spiral arm can serve the same purpose, but only if the towels are feeding the right direction.
Please leave that messy stack of paper towel sheets in the backround of your videos until you use them all. Lets get some really confused comments in the future!
The paper towel holder where the pressure comes from inside via the pole being slightly wider paddles, work great. Theres no need for that external pole bit as the internal pole itself is where the friction comes from. it therefore doesn't change the single sheet action when you get to the end.
Your original paper towel holder is actually better than the one that you are reviewing, you just need to flip the paper towel roll over for it to work correctly. That swirly part that ends with a little ball that sits a couple inches up from the bottom of the paper towel roll is actually there to help you rip a sheet off with just one hand. If you have the paper towels facing the correct way and you rip it from the bottom up, you can use your original paper towel holder one-handed. And also, the quality of paper towel plays a huge role in using these. If you're using brawny or Viva towels, they're going to work much better because those towels are stronger and have better perforations so they rip off easier and they tend to not get that triangle on the bottom like yours did.
I'm generally against single use gadgets figuring a common knife or something like that can do the job as well. But the PB peanut butter spreader seems to do something only a spatula would do. Get into the corners at the top and bottom. And a spatulal can't spread cold peanut butter that easily. The can stacker is unique doing a job nothing else could. So those two are winners for me.
Know what works better at scraping out the peanut butter than the jar knife, and you probably already have it in your kitchen? A silicone baking spatula.
I actually have the paper towel holder, and have had it for a couple years. The holding mechanism loses springiness after a while. As mentioned, it's better when it's full.
So, as these comments appear on my end, I love that you said to use a spoon, the person above you said to just roll the corn directly in a tray of butter, and the person above them said to just use a fork! 😂 I didn't know the debate was this fierce about the right way to butter corn! Edit: Sorry, unless you were talking about the peanut butter/jelly "jife" thing. To which case...even I have to throw my hat in the ring and say that's just wrong (lol!) as while it scoops well, the back of a spoon doesn't spread that well.
Hubby says the "J-ife" is cool but he was more impressed with your bread and is wondering what brand you use. 😂😂😂😂 Edit: we are in PHX so it's probably available here too.
Just bought the fridge monkey and the paper towel dispenser. I clicked on your links so hopefully you get a kick-back. I liked the knives but would rarely use them. If my kids were still little, I would probably use the heck out of that PB knife. Thanks for the vid and tips.
My grandfather's trick for buttering corn on the cob was to spread butter on a slice of bread then cradle the corn in the buttered side and roll it. In the end he had buttered corn AND buttered bread to eat. Haha!
Hey. Your other paper towel holder is made for one handed use. You use the metal ball on the side to press through the perforation. Then boom. That’s how I use mine
That paper towel order would be amazing if it was combined with that no spill cup tech. Especially if it had a wider beast so you could really just go to town on it
The fridge monkey seems like a good idea to stack tall items, but stuff like cans fit so much better up right. Or if you buy the 12 packs (6x2), the already fit nicely in the fridge.
My mom has had this thing for years that fits like a whole stick of butter and you just rub it right on the corn. Just now occurring to me that it isn't something most people would have as I have never seen it anywhere else
I've had a few OXO Mfg. items in my life, and one of them really has proven to be excellent and that is my can opener. I can't even remember when I bought it, 20 yrs ago? I'm glad you showed the OXO paper towel holder, it beats what I have now, no holder, ha ha.
I think I would still prefer my silicone jar scraper to the PB Jife. It conforms to the jar so it’s going to get more out, and it works just as well for spreading.
Honest to God I was just saying how my Nutella jars irritate me with the indented and outdented curves and it’s a waste and hard to get every last beautiful bit of chocolaty goodness and creamy happiness and complaining why they don’t just make a simple straight container. Ugh This pb knife could be the answer to my dream of a clean, empty, not a bit of deliciousness left behind Nutella utensil. Thank you, my hero! I’ll think of you every time I end up with a sparklingly empty jar. 🙏🏻🙋🏼♀️🤜🏻🤛🏻👊🏻🌰🍫🔪🤎🤎🤎
I can definitely recommend using a fork to butter corn. It's cheaper though it might make more of a mess. Or my family likes to but butter on a slice of bread to butter corn. That works too plus all you have to do for cleanup is eat the bread!
Wow! Really like the PB Jife knife and the Butter Once knife. I eat pb and a Fuji apple every day. The PB Jife looks like it works great for keeping the peanut butter off your hands and fingers. The Butter Once knife makes it look so much easier to get the butter onto the corn. Thanks for sharing these!
Now I can stack up my corn before I spread peanut butter on them one paper towel at a time.

I can’t believe he didn’t get how it works! I thought it was a joke.
The PB Jife looks like it would be good for mayo. I like it.
A silicone baking spatula.
the 6 minutes about the paper towel holder was riveting content.
Your videos never disappoint. Thanks so much for always putting a smile on my face.
I'm the only of my friends who uses a knife for the PB and a spoon to get the jelly outta the jar, same knife to spread it. 😂
I actually have the paper towel holder, and have had it for a couple years. The holding mechanism loses springiness after a while. As mentioned, it's better when it's full.
I never get the idea of scooping and spreading with a knife. Spoon will do much better job.
@@BewareTheLilyOfTheValley yes I was actually talking about the PB. And I am still going to vote for the Spoon :)
The easiest way to butter corn is to just roll your corn on the top of the stick lol
That contanimates the butter, use buttered bread itself.
Hubby says the "J-ife" is cool but he was more impressed with your bread and is wondering what brand you use.
😂😂😂😂
Edit: we are in PHX so it's probably available here too.
Bailey watching you mix the peanut butter with intense focus lol!
😆 she's like..."what'cha got there dad? Can I have a taste?" 🐶
Haha!
YES!!! That’s one we did it growing up!
i thought the fridge mat was neat until i realized... cans and bottles can just stand straight up
Plus, upright cans and bottles use less overall space compared to what's needed for the horizontal stacker.
wine bottles are usually too tall for that
Alton Brown of “Good Eats” would say No to that uni-tasker corn knife!
"OCD Nightmare!" - I can relate, James. 👍💜😀
Hey. Your other paper towel holder is made for one handed use. You use the metal ball on the side to press through the perforation. Then boom. That’s how I use mine
That paper towel order would be amazing if it was combined with that no spill cup tech. Especially if it had a wider beast so you could really just go to town on it
So with the cheap paper towel holder you have make the paper towel go the other way so you can tip it with the metal ball???
The fridge monkey seems like a good idea to stack tall items, but stuff like cans fit so much better up right. Or if you buy the 12 packs (6x2), the already fit nicely in the fridge.
My mom has had this thing for years that fits like a whole stick of butter and you just rub it right on the corn. Just now occurring to me that it isn't something most people would have as I have never seen it anywhere else
I have one from pampered chef. It's great when for bbqs. Just pass it around
The paper towel holder I have the one that fit on the bottom of the cabinet. Love it
You know the worlds gotten lazy when people buy a $25 paper towel holder for one hand use.
ikr 😓
Ive always used a fork for the butter on the corn because of its shape
I've had a few OXO Mfg. items in my life, and one of them really has proven to be excellent and that is my can opener. I can't even remember when I bought it, 20 yrs ago? I'm glad you showed the OXO paper towel holder, it beats what I have now, no holder, ha ha.
I think I would still prefer my silicone jar scraper to the PB Jife. It conforms to the jar so it’s going to get more out, and it works just as well for spreading.
A silicone spurtle is even better...the curve on the end picks up a lot of material without being too deep like the bowl of a spoon...
Bread is what I prefer to use.
Will the pape towel result on your old holder be different if you put it in the other side around?
